Dell :: XPS 1730best NVidia Control Panel Settings

Just installed 3dMark06 and Fear2. When I ran 3dMark06 i got ~11.800 points, after reading on several sites and comparing the scores it seemed pretty average/ even good.
I then tried Fear2, I maxed out the setting 1920x1200 / High / 0x AA /4xAF, it ran pretty smooth but then the trouble started..
It began every 5 or 6 seconds to stutter, the game would stop responding and the screen would freeze for a second..
Thinking it was the settings I put it down to 1280 and medium, no difference in fps and the stuttering was still there..
I tried Counter-strike, Prototype, Fallout 3 and a couple of other games, still the stutter in every single game..
In the nVidia contol panel I have disengaged the V-sync.
My speccs are 8800GTX SLI, T9300, 4gb Ram and Windows 32 bit Vista. I have updated all the drivers to the latest drivers and I have also made sure that PhysX is disabled.
The machine just came out of the factory so all the Dell software is still installed.
How can I manage to fix the stuttering problem?
I am also thinking about going over to Windows 7 seeing that it is free and supports 64-bit.
I refreshed my colour settings under 'nVidia control panel' and now my colours look crap. Can someone plz give me your personal prefered percentage numbers of these following slide bars in 'Desktop Colour Settings'.
CW26FX - Anyone having trouble getting their video color settings to stick? I have adjusted my screen brightness/color/contrast via the NVidia Control Panel, but I periodically lose my settings. Initially there was a conflict with the VAIO Control Center - display settings there superseded whatever I did in the NVidia Control Panel. I eventually figured out how to get the NVidia Control Panel settings to stick by changing the display settings in the VAIO Control Center first - or at least I thought I did. It would work for a few reboots, but eventually I seemed to lose my settings again. So I uninstalled the VAIO Control Center hoping that would leave my NVidia Control Panel settings alone. But lo & behold I still periodically lose those settings (the NVidia Control Panel radio button "Other applications control color settings" is inexplicably selected.) Any ideas? (And yes, I hit "Apply" before closing out the NVidia Control Panel.)
I have a zbook with a nvidia quadro 610m graphics. I cannot get the gpu to save settings or engage when playing games. It was working until I tried to give windows 8 a try.I did a fresh install of windows 8. Then I installed the hp drivers cd that came with workstation. Everything says it completed successfully and I've rebooted multiple times.
When I open the nvidia control panel, none of the settings I change stick. E.g. tell every program to use the 610m. I click apply it looks like it was successful. However, if I open the nvidia control panel again, all changes are reverted. I restarted after hitting apply too. It doesnt matter what the changes are, they all revert.
I'm guessing I screwed up with the driver install or something but IDK.The device manager says that the 610m is working properly and the driver is up do date.
I am using amazing inspiron 5520 & I am satisfied with it but I just noticed that the touch pad just only used for moving the pointer there are no extra functions such as scrolling ,, zooming ,, etc ... I can't find the touchpad settings in my control panel...
How to use. When I go to nvidia control panel and select enable 3d hit apply and screen goes blank and I cant get out of it. Have to turn computer off.....that cant be good...
I did a clean install of Win 7 Pro and now the IDT control panel has disappeared along with the system tray icon.
I tried reinstalling the drivers but haven't figured out a way to get it to come back. I know its bloat, but I liked having the extra control over the sound...
Im not getting the Advanced Controls in the IDT applet. Its only giving me "Enable Power Management", "Enable Jack Monitoring" and "Show System Tray Icon". clicking the Advanced gear/wheel looking icon thing does nothing..
This is on an M6400 with Windows 7 64-bit. I installed dell's newest drivers for Windows 7 64-bit, and everything seems to be working fine, but I don't have the Bluetooth item in Control Panel. That becomes an issue if I turn the Bluetooth radio off from the tray icon, because if I do so, the tray icon is gone, and there's no easy way to turn the radio back on.
I have an Inspiron 15R laptop and I have found the touchpad to be very, very sensitive. I have found the adjustments but have not been able to decrease the sensitivity to my liking. So, I disabled the touchpad and installed a wireless mouse that I had used in the past but it now appears to have quit working. Is there a way to get to the control panel to re-enable the touchpad?
I can't adjust screen brightness using either function key or in control panel. Using the function key the little panel of brightness volume shows up on the screen but does nothing. And in control panel, through either the bottom brightness scroll or the power option won't change anything. Only time when the brightness will change is I unplug the power, but in the power settings it won't let me change/adjust the brightness.
And what is the battery function key for? I press it and it does nothing. XPS L521x
Studio 1558 laptop....cannot disable touchpad....it activates cursor whenever I get close to touching it..very distracting/frustrating...no hot keys and no access via control panel..
I have installed Windows 8 on a HP dv6-6096 nr which I purchased in may 2011. I did an upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium. Every time, I hightlight control panel, the machine reverts back to the desktop. How do I fix this?
I thave updated my video drivers. I an't tell waht other devices are not usiable in Windows 8.
I figured that I can go a clean install and all should work but I don't know if I can re-install under Windows 8.
Here is an update:The HP dvd6-6096nr used NON-STANDARD function which folks at HP, Microsoft and Microcenter have been made aware of. So the ways to get into Safe mode, Shift F8 is the easy way. For me, that doesn’t work. Using Windows key +x, lets me run msconfig.Using msconfig and booting into safe mode, action center tells me that I need to install 3 drivers: (Intel Bluetooth wireless driver, HP power management and Intel wireless display). Those were installed.I rebooted the machine, Control panel still crashes.Rebooted into safe mode, action center still shows that I need to install these 3 drivers.Since Microsoft makes it nearly impossible to boot windows to update drivers, that is where I am at. My choice is (1) install Windows 8 (not upgrade) or forget about Windows 8. The problem is (1) will Windows 8 re-activate and if other licensed software will re-install?
My touchpad is supersensitive and if I get anywhere near it I find I have selected text or opened a link or done some other activity that I didn't want to do.A previous thread said that the sensitivity could be adjusted via the Control Panel. Well, I have it at its lowest, and it doesn't seem to act any differently. I do not want to disable the touchpad, just make it act normally.
I have changed my dell studio 1535 motherboard after ordering a refurbished one from dell. When reconnecting all the parts, everything worked well except the control media button <Previous Track> which was lighting up by itself from time to time.
I unplugged the media control panel, plugged it up again. This time the media panel is lighting up intermittently and the laptop cooler is at maximum. Unplugged again, a cable pin was short circuited and got broken in the process :(.
Fixed the cable, now the media control panel is completely down and the cooler runs at maximum speed. Removing the media panel fixes the cooler issue.
As I am not an expert into this, I was wondering if changing the panel will fix my problem or the faulty connection could have broken the motherboard control panel circuit.
PS. When running diagnostic via F12 key, no faulty issue is detected.
woke up this morning, computer updated itself last night and today speakers were quiet so i went to activate beats from control panel and the option is missing entirely cant find it anywhere on the laptop. is there a place where i can redownload it so that these speakers audible.... they are so quiet without the beats audio

Because of a virus, I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I have gotten everything else working except the fingerprint reader.I have installed the Validity Fingerprint Reader driver from the Dell Support site. The fingerprint reader shows up in the Device Manager. However, the Biometric Devices applet doesn't appear in the Control Panel.
I tried letting Windows update detect the fingerprint reader. It installed a driver for a Synaptics device. This was enough to get the Biometric Devices applet to appear in the Control Panel. However, when I tried to configure the fingerprint reader, I got an error saying no fingerprint management software was installed. I have seen lots of posts online directing me to validityinc.com for drivers or the DigitalPersona software, but Validity Inc. seems to have gone out of business. The DigitalPersona software is available on the Dell Support site for my service tag.
I have even tried installing the Windows 8 Validity Sensor Driver for my laptop, but though it successfully installs, it produces the same results.
I upgrade my laptop to windows 8.1. But a few drivers were missing after installing those some unknown devices are showing in device manager. Apart from that sound driver works just fine but beats control panel won't open with error shown.
The drivers missing are PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_5227&SUBSYS_1963103C&REV_014&da47f66&0&00E3 PCIVEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_1963103C&REV_043&11583659&0&B0 ACPIHPQ60073&11583659&0
I have a travel mate loaded with erecovery management. I keep getting a message "internet control panel has stopped working". This appears to be an appcrash; the guilty party being rundll32.exe. In addition "computer" has gone from my start menu and from windows explorer. Start menu.
I have carried out a sfc/scannow which says there are corrupted files that cant be repaired. System restore has not worked either. There appears to be 3 different options open to me to "restore" my system.
I think when I set up this computer I selected that it always maintain the wifi connection. Normally this is fine, but if I am installing a program I may not want the computer to connect to the internet.
I recently clicked on the wifi icon in systray and right-clicked on my connection and selected "disconnect". It did, but it immediately reconnected. Where is the setting where I can control this?
