Why can"t I get the Dell Webcam Central to load on my inspiron 1545? I have downloaded it twice from the support site for my service tag and each time i attempt t install it and it shows a coorupt or incomplete download

my laptop was running extremely slow, so I decided I wanted to wipe it. Where my OS disc and other discs were, so I tried using one from an alienware laptop. It worked for a temporary fix but said it would expire in 30 days. I called Dell and ordered a new OS disc and the other discs that come with my laptop.
I got my laptop up and running again, but before I wiped it I had dell webcam central and now I don't! I'm not sure how to open my webcam and take pictures
Anyone got the Dell Webcam Central App to install on Windows 7? I have installed the creative webcam drivers, but don't have the app to use the webcam.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI replaced the hard drive on my inspiron 1545 and tried to restore it with the dell data safe disks that I made when I got the machine. Windows 7 loaded but I couldn't do anything with it, It was very slow, I couldn't even get it to update. So I loaded in the windows 7 disk that came with it and now I have windows up and running and updated. My question is what drivers do I need to install. I went to dell/support and entered my service tag number and it came up with a list of drivers (46 of them), some I know I need but others seem to be for things I don't know if I have on the computer. How do I know which ones I need?
Also I read something about a file called Dell System Software but its not on the drivers list. Do I need it or not?
I wiped my hard drive clean the other day and was able to reinstall everything except the Dell Webcam Central software and the facial recognition one. Does anyone know where these can be found?

in "All Programs->Setup" i do not have any Dell items. If I launch the "Dell Webcam Central" Application there are no options to speak of to turn off.
I have an integrated webcam and my HP Pavilion dv6 now shows this message with a yellow triangle "no webcam installed". Â How do I fix? Â My HP Pavilion is really starting to fail. Â Cyberlink won't let me update software because it claims I don't have the full version. Didn't HP install the full version with my laptop?

After it is completed it freezes for a moment before loading the blue screen where the desktop icons would normally load. Except they don't. It freezes on the blue background screen. The warranty is up and I have valuable pictures etc.. On this computer from trips and whatnot.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron 1520, When you turn the laptop on, the BIOS load screen comes up and when the progress bar starts to scroll, it gets about 1/2" over and then the screen goes black. It is not the inverter, because if you take a flashlight, you can not see anything. The Cap Locks and Num Lock button will toggle the LEDs, but there doesn't seem like anything else is going on. I have tried hitting F2 on boot, as well as FCN +D and no luck. It is running A04 for the BIOS. I have also reseated the RAM and the display cable connectors. I have also plugged in a keyboard and monitor to see if that would change anything and it didn't. (I did hit the FCN+F8 after plugging in the monitor.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is dell inspirion 5520 with core i5, 8GB memory and amd radeon HD 7670M. When i bought adm radeon switchable graphic works ok. Yesterday, I update the graphic driver. version is 8.933.3.4 from dell website.
Previous version is 8.933.3.0.
After updating, catalyst control center can't load. So, I roll back previous driver version but the catalyst control center can't load.
I think switchable graphic not work.
I've included my build below, but I'd like to know what else I should do in order to get the most out of my purchase. Any help would be appreciated whether it be key drivers to download or cool widgets to get for my desktop!

I have a Inspirion N5050 laptop. A few weeks ago, it started running slow and Adchoices ads appeared. I removed them. I ran a scan using AVG, which detected nothing. I shut down the laptop as a precaution. Now it will not load Windows. I press the power button, the dell logo appears, then I hear what I think is the hard drive click, then the screen goes dark for a second, then the logo and a click and so on and so on. I am able to get to the menus with f2 and f12, what to do next. Safe mode will not respond ( I cannot get into it).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a Dell Inspiron 15r 3537 five or so months ago. I haven't had many problems with it but just today, I have run into a few issues, wont load up, the power light flashes for a split second then nothing which seemed to resolve it's self after I ran a systems diagnostics (which everything was running fine and I received no error codes). I left it alone for a few hours and then when I started it back it up....nothing. It isn't taking charge though the charger is still showing a green light on it. I've taken the battery out and held down the button for 15-30-45 seconds all with no result.

Dell says it will arive on April 6th. Does Dell usually take this long to deliver?
Both have Dual Core Pentiums. Can they be upgraded to Core 2 Duo later? Are the CPU's soldered on the main board?
Ram is limited to four gigabytes, even though the laptop uses a 64-bit CPU. Is this something that might be fixed in a future BIOS upgrade?
Is there any way to upgrade the onboard graphics? I found an ExpressCard chasis that has PCI express slots, but it costs over $700. I could build a PC for less than that. Do I have any other options?
I just looked at the pictures and specs of the new Inspiron 1525 replacement, 1545, and I couldn't believe what I have read. No HDMI port, no firewire port, only 3 USB ports, no modem, no eSATA. Also, it is 15.6" 16:9 screen, which is fine, if they offer higher than 1366x768. It is more like the 13" Inspiron than the old 1525 to me. I think Dell is going to re-align Inspiron as a cheap line like the HP Presario line. Dell Studio will compete with HP Pavilion.

I am looking to buy a new 15" laptop. A top of the range inspiron 1545 costs £629 and the top XPS M1530 costs £849.
However, looking at the spec - the Inspiron seems to have:

My fan on the inspiron 1545 will not stop running. The laptop is quite hot. The battery from Dell died and replaced with a third party battery and adapter which have not been working well either. Battery will not charge so it is currently attached to power source at all times with the battery in the laptop.

As if the keyboard is not calibrated. I press a button and he thinks it's another key ... I thought it might be a hardware problem but when I plugged in a USB keyboard had the same problem and even when I uploaded the "virtual keyboard " on screen the problem continued ... I went to the site of DELL and the diagnosis tool indicated the computer is fine (their detection software glitch found in DVD-ROM but it really has nothing to do with it) I still tried to delete the drivers of the keyboard from the computer and reinstall but the problem remains you might know calibration software keyboard?

I am unable to load the audio and card reader drivers. I've ran all the windows updates and use Dell's support for finding the correct drivers. The system analysis identifies the drivers I need, but they refuse to load.Â
My husband came home from work saying his laptop doesn't work, being the naturally skeptical wife, I tried to boot it up, thinking I'll f10 (Well, f12 - turns out) the problem away. If that worked, we wouldn't be here. Anyway. 9_9
The laptop turns on without a problem, and presents me with the Dell loading screen. The loading bar is present, but nothing is actually 'loading'. There are two options in the lower right hand corner, "F2 - Setup" and "F12 Boot Options". If I turn the laptop on and press one of these buttons really quick (within a second), then that option will be highlighted, but nothing more occurs. I've tried this for both F2 and F12.
I've tried:
-Boot Options - fails to load the options screen
-Setup - fails to load the setup screen
-Turning the power off and holding the button down.
-PSA ... Pre-startup Analytics...? Didn't work. Spent 5 minutes tapping F12 once a second.
-All of the above with and without the AC adapter in.
-Taking the battery out (Oi, that was fun.) and plugging it back in.
None of these yielded different results.
I've noticed that the screen doesn't seem to be evenly lit. For example when I set the desktop background to black, it looks pretty black at the top of the screen, but as I look further down towards the bottom it turns almost medium gray/blue-ish.
I've tried all brightness, contrast and gamma settings with no luck.
Has anyone else seen this problem, and is it a reason for sending back the laptop? Or is this something "you get" for buying a lower-end laptop like the 1545?
I was interested in getting another hard drive caddy for a 1545 but looking on Dell's website by model # they do not even list the 1545 per se.
They have a choice for "15" which I assume will include anything across the board for the 15 "family" models so I looked in there but no parts like this.
I tried ebay and googling around, found several places that sell spare Dell parts, even called & spoke to one but it seems to me that (a) Dell doesn't sell a part like this separately, and (b) places that do sell these kinds of parts are salvaging them from old/dead PCs and since the 1545 is a fairly new model spare parts haven't really surfaced for it yet.
Am curious if folks here know of any decent places to find this kind of thing though, since I certainly could be overlooking something!
none of my game discs or dvds or cds fit inside my laptops tray... the ball inside is too big to fit inside the hole on the dvd

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1545. When I type, it will open windows (such as a find menu, replace menu, or even a new document) or reformat my text (hanging indents, etc.) out of the blue.
It acts as if the control key is being pressed, but I am very careful not to hit it. At first we thought it was a sticky key, but replacing the keyboard did not fix the problem.
We reinstalled all the drivers, ran diagnostics, etc., but none of it did any good. Dell support said they had never heard of this problem. Nothing they suggested helped. Finally we had them send us a replacement.
The second computer arrived yesteday and it does the exact same thing. When I am typing in Microsoft Word, Excel or even Notepad, it erases text (sometimes the entire document), opens random windows, etc.
What is going on? I can't believe that three keyboards in a row would be faulty, but the problem does not happen when I use a wireless keyboard. It has been less than a month since we ordered the computer originally. Is there anything that can be done or should I just return it and look elsewhere?
