Dell :: Inspiron 1545 .. Hitting Certain Keys Makes My Email Go Too Soon
Feb 14, 2010
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. I find it jumps back in my typing either several words or lines and types from there.
I seem to hit two keys simultaneously and it makes the email send. Usually these are the keys g & h and have also seen it happen when connecting with the letter B.
Anyone know why this laptop keyboard does this and how can I stop it?
I recently bought the Inspiron 1545 and to be honest was actually quite struck by how simple everything was in the design. However there is only one problem that I found when I use the laptop. In order for the function keys to be used, I would need to press Fn+(Function Key) Eg. Fn+F1. Now obviously function keys are supposed to act like a shortcut key for certain activities. This actually defeats there purpose. Instead by pressing those keys without the Fn key, I would be able to use the multimedia keys and anything else on the keys with a white symbol on.
I was wondering whether there was any way in which I could swap round the functuion of the keys so that I can use the function keys without having to press Fn?
My Inspiron 1525 makes long beeps when booting , and it even restarts before booting to windows recently I installed ubuntu linux .the keyboard is  going on typing " ^.I am not able to discover what key it is .I hit some random keys, and the thing works...Most of the time hitting the TAB key few times before the boot sequence seems to work.
my laptop was working fine until an hour ago but suddenly the screen went white and so i turned it off. after waiting for sometime, i turned it on again but the screen is blank and the laptop makes 3distinctive beeps and repeats them until i turn it off again.Â
Last month I got a Inspiron 3520 for my daughter and have had nothing but trouble with it. Â When I plug it in to the router I get download speeds of 35-45 mbps, when I check speed using the wireless connection they range from 11 mbps down to less than 1! Â It is not the drivers, the power settings, the router as I have followed all of the "fixes" suggested in other threads and run through a 2 hour session with the Dell online chat rep which ended when he had to reboot the machine and the link to return to the chat that he left on my desktop was invalid. Â
If I move our other HP laptop to the same location (less than 5 feet from the wireless router) that gets download speeds of 25-30 so I am sure it is not the wireless signal. Â Also we have iPads and smartphones that all work just fine from anywhere in the house. Â I have tested the Dell speed when there is no one else home and all other devices are turned off and it is terrible. Â I know this is not a top of the line laptop but I expect it to work at least well enough to be functional. Â Based on my reading of this and other sites, I am making a guess that the wireless card is faulty. Â Â
My DELL n5110 (core i7) randomly makes a strange Single Beep, then a clicking sound which i think comes from it's bottom left corner, this happens while i'am normally operating it, with no error what so ever, and it continues work, nothing appears on the screen, no system notifications, nothing at all, just Single Beep, then a Clicking sound that comes from it's bottom left corner and lasts less than a second, that's it, it's not bothering me, but what is it !!!?
Now when booting up the computer you can hear some weird sizzling, clicking and spinning sound and in the middle of booting up it will show BSoD.
Diagnostic also said there is something wrong with the HDD.
At first I had no problems hitting my notebook, for eight months it lasted my punches, but then the battery stopped recharging, few buttons came loose and now this. >: (
So .. other XPS M1530 owners, watch out. Also, can I still get my data when I get a new HDD? Lulz.
I have a problem with my dell inspiron 5520 it sometimes randomly reboots ,screen flashes and makes weird audio noise and then screen goes black and laptop reboots like normal! What is wrong with my laptop.Because when it reboots all my work is gone!
I have a dell Inspiron and when i press the power button, my laptop sounds a high pitched beeping noice 8 times in a sequence with the screen black and doesn't turn on....what should i do...
I have a Latitude D531 laptop that when I hit the power button, the light comes on but goes off after about 10 seconds. This began when I had it on ansd all of a sudden shut down. One of Dell's people told me to try something but it still shuts off after five or six seconds. I thought it might be a short but am unsure.
So my computer is hitting temps as high as 103 degrees Celcius according to atiTool. And by the way this is without overclocking. Its pretty clean inside (no dust and stuff). Im pretty site this is not normal...I may even call Dell about it. I have complete care for three years...
I have a Vaio-Z750D, of course it's amazing in power and feature but I want to know how much it's robust in hitting and bumping, because I want to use it on my robot in experimental condition.
I'm running a generation one Dv7t. Lately my cpu and gpu would run absurdly hot even under minimal load such as internet browsing and music. Watching a video would send my my gpu into the 80's, and with gaming now often peak at over 100. Idle temps are in the mid 50's for the gpu and 40's for the cpu. It used to be much cooler with heavy load only peaking out at the mid 80's. Underclocking efforts have been useless as most of the programs:rivatuner, ntune, atitool, refuse to work properly. And the above temperatures are reached even with the back elevated half an inch with a cooler underneath. I haven't gotten the chance to blow out the insides clean of dust, but since this notebook is just a little of a year old I don't think the dust build up could be this critical. Anyone have any ideas why my notebook is running so hot or more solutions to cool it off.

I'm having problems with my m1730 and I'd like to get a replacement, but of course the low-on-the-totem-pole service techs are telling me no according to their script. I need to escalate that problem but they won't put me through to their supervisors, nor will they give me any phone numbers.
I bought a Dell laptop back in August of this year and sometime in September I registered my system for a Win 7 upgrade. It seems like everyone has put in their order now but I have yet to receive a notifying email.
I do have the confirmation email back in Sept from Dell.com that confirmed my service tag was registered...but I've heard nothing from then since.
Does anyone know anything about the timeline? Or what I should do?
I've included my build below, but I'd like to know what else I should do in order to get the most out of my purchase. Any help would be appreciated whether it be key drivers to download or cool widgets to get for my desktop!

I'd like to contact Apple on the mac mini with Snow Leopard Server to get some more information on it but I can't seem to find an email address that I can direct my concerns about the product to.
Does anyone have an email contact they may respond to or is the only way of reaching them going to be by phone?
I ordered two basic Inspiron 1545's on March 16th. $479 each on the one day special.
Dell says it will arive on April 6th. Does Dell usually take this long to deliver?
Both have Dual Core Pentiums. Can they be upgraded to Core 2 Duo later? Are the CPU's soldered on the main board?
Ram is limited to four gigabytes, even though the laptop uses a 64-bit CPU. Is this something that might be fixed in a future BIOS upgrade?
Is there any way to upgrade the onboard graphics? I found an ExpressCard chasis that has PCI express slots, but it costs over $700. I could build a PC for less than that. Do I have any other options?
I just looked at the pictures and specs of the new Inspiron 1525 replacement, 1545, and I couldn't believe what I have read. No HDMI port, no firewire port, only 3 USB ports, no modem, no eSATA. Also, it is 15.6" 16:9 screen, which is fine, if they offer higher than 1366x768. It is more like the 13" Inspiron than the old 1525 to me. I think Dell is going to re-align Inspiron as a cheap line like the HP Presario line. Dell Studio will compete with HP Pavilion.
My fan on the inspiron 1545 will not stop running. The laptop is quite hot. The battery from Dell died and replaced with a third party battery and adapter which have not been working well either. Battery will not charge so it is currently attached to power source at all times with the battery in the laptop.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 that will not power on. Â After ordering a new power cord and battery, still nothing.I went on line and found videos on how to disassemble the laptop to check the power port. I found that mine was broken.I ordered a new one and following the instructions I replaced it. Still nothing when I press the power button. No lights on the computer at all. Â
I got an old laptop (dell inspiron 1545). I bought it charger and installed Windows 7. then I discovered that he had a strange problem. As if the keyboard is not calibrated. I press a button and he thinks it's another key ... I thought it might be a hardware problem but when I plugged in a USB keyboard had the same problem and even when I uploaded the "virtual keyboard " on screen the problem continued ... I went to the site of DELL and the diagnosis tool indicated the computer is fine (their detection software glitch found in DVD-ROM but it really has nothing to do with it) I still tried to delete the drivers of the keyboard from the computer and reinstall but the problem remains you might know calibration software keyboard?
I wanted to email Acer about the availability of a certain notebook, but I can't seem to find an email address I can use anywhere on their website. Does anyone know if they have one?
