I bought Dell Inspiron 5000 (5748) with Windows 8.1CPU Frequency is low from 0.76 - 0.78 GHz and when I start to load more programs(video render, 3d, CPU stress test) computer slow down and load is no higher than 40%, CPU remain the same(0.76).
Tried to change profile in power control, enable hidden menu for power control of CPU, in BIOS disable function for frequency adjustment - all is useless. How to force CPU to work on all his power when is need?CPU Intel® Core™ i7 4510U (2 GHz/cache - 4 Mb)
For the last week i have noticed there is something wrong with my laptop. Every night i turn it off and in the morning it doesn't turn on at all its like the power button is broken or something. After 10 minutes of removing and putting the battery in( same with AC adapter) it finally starts without the battery only with the adapter plugged in. Until this morning of course - now it looks like its completely dead...
I have already done hard resets with 45 seconds holding the power button. Also the LED light on the charger is glowing just perfect so its not a problem with the adapter. I use my laptop for work and i have very important things there ...
I just received my Inspiron 15 5547 computer 2 days ago and one thing I noticed is that intermittently the touchscreen freezes for 3-10 seconds at a time, when this happens the computer is not frozen, I can still move the cursor with the touch pad or with a Bluetooth mouse.
I have contacted tech support and they advised to give it a few days to see if it continues to happen and confirm that the computer in fact does not freeze. I am wondering if this is normal for this model? Or if this is an actual hardware issue with my computer.
I also am wondering about getting a stylus to use on the screen for drawing. If I get one like the Adonit Jot or one like used for a Samsung Galaxy Note III would that work? Would it cause any damage to the screen?
I've recently purchased an Inspiron 15 5000 series and have noticed that performance is unusually slow for the specs, especially since coming from an Asus G73JH that was about 4 years old.
I've noticed that in the Task Manager on Windows 8, that CPU usage never goes above 30% and although the CPU is listed as an i7-4510u @ 2.00ghz, the Speed on the Task Manager page generally sits at 0.75ghz and never goes above 0.79ghz (generally when it goes above 0.75ghz, it for a brief moment).
I've been Googling this problem for a little while now and the only person I've found with a successful solution to this problem was on a desktop and had to replace their CMOS battery. Considering I'm on a laptop, I'd imagine this would void my warranty somewhat ....
I've run the Dell Support program and all the tests pass. I've also installed all the drivers from the Dell site (including the BIOS update) and all my Windows Updates are up to date.
My new inspiron 15 has an issue with the touchpad - the two finger scroll functionality breaks at irregular but very frequent intervals.
I'd spend 15 minutes on the computer and I'd suddenly not be able to use any multi-finger gestures on the touchpad, specifically the two-finger scroll. I've noticed that at that point, pinch zoom doesn't work either which leads me to believe it's a general issue with multi-finger gestures.
Restarting the computer always fixes it.
I can't tell if this is a hardware defect or a software issue.I've reinstalled the latest touchpad drivers from dell but it has made no difference.
Forgive me if I missed something (or know nothing about RAM), but why is CPU-Z reporting that my DRAM frequency is only 532MHz (Memory tab > Timings; also in SPD tab > Memory Slot Selection > Max Bandwidth = PC3-8500F (533MHz)?
the cpu of my pc acer aspire 9423 xp media center is blocked at a frequency of 1Ghz, while an Intel T5500 CPU is expected to operate at 1.66 GHz. I changed my HDD, the ram and cpu for intel T7200 and always my cpu to 1ghz.
just like my sony laptop FW510f, it have the ATI 4650, but the GPU frequency is 450 and memory is 600. i think dell can do like it to avoid the fan's noisy(its runs when i press the start button), and the throttling problem.
BTW: my 1647's fan keep spin and the gpu temp is 50 when its idle, is it normal? the ambient no more than 20c
The last bios update for the Notebook probook 4320s did something odd to my notebook, the cpu frequency never get to full speed as i found out after so many tries its a BIOS bug  If i boot with battery fully charged and power ac on the cpu gets to 933 mhz if i remove the power cord cpu gets to 1200mhz i have to reboot with only the battery for the CPU to get to 2200mhz as its the I3 speed  There is no way to disable speed step or to disable bios control power .....
I have problem with High CPU Frequency and Voltage when set on High Preformance, frequency is over 3,2 GHZ, and Voltage is 20+ Wat, even if CPU usage is from 0 to 10 %.
My HP Pavilion dv6-6113tx Entertainment Notebook PC is not detecting 5GHz frequency signals. I tried to check my wireless network software update and that too is up to date. My colleague suggested me to attach an external dual band wireless dongal. Is that possible to replace the network card with a dual band one if this machine does not have that one. I am really annoyed with my laptop wifi. It is working with 2.4GHz wifi signal, but due to interference problem as stated by internet provider it is not working at good speed and speed fluctuates a lot.
I havea serious problem with my G510 i7 4700MQ.When i plug the power adapter the cpu frequency is set 798 Mhz.When i UNplug the power adapter i can reach maximum 2.4 Ghz.Obvisously i cannot get turbo 3.4Ghz at all.Graphics adapter frequency is also drops to 200 Mhz when i plug the power adapter. is it a buggy notebook? My bios version is 3.05 and i know that the newer version is 3.09 but bios update is only available in Windows 8. I've got windows 7 intel processor diagnostic tool shows FAILED when accessing cpu frequency.
Would this be considered a good deal, or does anyone know of any other deals (e-value codes, coupon codes, etc.) for the Studio XPS 1647?
Also, I noticed some people are wanting the ATI 5000 series for the SXPS 16. What are the benefits of the 5000 series over the 4670 and what is the holdup? Does it require a new MB layout or something? I will mainly be using my computer for Internet/email, photo editing, and occasional HD video and DVD editing...I am not a PC gamer. So, would it worth waiting for the 5000 series? I'm sure the 4670 will suit me just fine, but I've read that it is 'last year's technology' and I generally like to try to get the latest available technology at the time of purchase...
Typical Dell issue. I just got my new Dell 15 5000 series laptop. Spent 1 hour setting it up. Took a break closed the lid and now its dead. I have a power light on the front but screen wont come back. Have held the power button down for 10 seconds then retried it but nothing. It is plugged in just no screen or activity.
I'm new to this site and I'm quite surprised at the vastness of 'online' knowledge and happy to have learnt so much from the other threads ! Thanks ! But, I couldnt find any info on the new ATI 5000 series notebook GPU's in the Indian context. So The DELL Studio series now comes with the HD 5470, which according to tha GPU benchmark isn't good enough for gaming. (The studio 17 here still carries the 4670, but, the better 5650 in UK) . http://www.notebookcheck.net/Compute...s.13849.0.html A studio 15 core i5-540M(2.53Ghz,4 Thread, turbo boost to 3.06 GHz, 3MB cache), 4GB 1333MHz DDR3, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, 320GB 7200rpm, 1080p LED Full-HD dispaly, backlit keyboard & 1 year CCADP costs INR 59,000 (excluding only delivery) Should I go for it or wait for them to upgrade the studio 17 to the better 5650 graphics ? (portability isn't an issue for me so the 17 is fine too ). IMO the price is too high. But I would like to know the opinion of you folk ! Are there any better alternatives(I doubt !)................
I've had a ferrari 5000 for over a year now and never had any problems with it until today. When I power on my laptop it boots up to the Ferrari picture where it has the "Press F2 to enter setup" and it just stays there. I try and press F2 to enter set up but none of the keys on the keyboard seem to work. It just stays frozen on that picture.
I'm able to use the CD ROM but it still leaves me in the same place.
My Aspire 5000 laptop is booting but the LCD is completely blank and I am unable to use a monitor for external video either. Since the computer doesn't beep when it posts, i can't tell if its booting into windows or not..
I had an Acer Aspire in the 5000 series. A drink got spilled on the keyboard and I cut the power to the unit immediately. The motherboard was fried anyway, but the hard drive was salvageable. I had it put in a USB case to access the data as an external hard drive when I needed it. I had trouble with permissions on some folders and documents at times, but I was generally able to access what I needed.
A couple of weeks ago I opened a folder on the external hard drive that I hadn't been to since I replaced my notebook. I forgot what happened at the time, but I was called out of the office. Since then, I'm unable to read the USB hard drive at all. I get an error message that says "E Drive Not Accessible. Folder or Directory is Corrupt & Can Not Be Accessed". Every recovery solution I've found is for an internal hard drive. Will I need to try to put it in my current Aspire 6920 to do a directory repair/recovery? Is there a way to recover it externally without sending it out to a data recovery service?
My parents have an Aspire 5000 that they use solely for internet browsing. It came with Norton Internet Security 2005, but my dad wants to install a different anti-virus program. The problem is every time we try to delete Norton through the Add/Remove, the only thing that happens is a window will pop up for a fraction of a second and then disappear. It refuses to be deleted.
There are multiple programs in there for Norton including LiveReg and LiveUpdate as well as the Internet Security. The only one that seems to be able to be deleted is LiveUpdate. Is there an or/der of deleting these programs that I have to follow to make sure they will actually delete? Does anyone else have this issue?
I personally use free AVG and never have any issues. It seems Norton and McAfee cause more problems than they fix.
So my g/f has bought this laptop from her brother for £100 and upon this he did tell us the battery is dead and the charger he is using ins't the official charger but the laptop works.
Upon getting the laptop I decided to try and make the battery last longer by discharging and charging it a few times fully, but this has just completely stopped the batery from working, fullstop.
So now I am having to run it off the power supply solely.
I have ordered a new battery from ebay and made sure it is the correct battery by checking the model of the laptop, model of the battery and not only that it's £15 cheaper then getting it from shops.
Dispite all that I still need to get a charger for this model, so I found one on ebay which said it was for the 5000 series but not my model, I emailed them and they confirmed to me that it wouldn't work for my laptop.
So now I am on the lookout for a charger for this laptop 5003WMLi but I don't know the model number for the charger so if anyone has an official charger for the 5003WLMi can they please post the model number so I can look for a cheap official charger.
Or if anyone knows what watt, voltage I need then I could perhaps get a charger to suit my needs................................
So my friend gave me his laptop to fix, and everything is perfect... except that the acer emanagement program doesnt have any power management options, like slowing down processor etc.
What can I do? Where could I find the proper Emanager?
I have a Ferrari 5000 ZC3. It quit working, all was working fine it shut down itself and now it wont start at all, I only have a black screen. All that lit's up is the power button. the Numlock and caps lock led lights up about .5 sec. the hdd light lights up for about 5 seconds. when the power button is pressed again it goes off immediately.  To eliminate a hdd failure I have removed the hdd and powered up without the hard drive installed, no change at all besides that the hdd led doesn't light up.Â
I have tried to put it in but there is a 1/4 in pin in the way. Is there a way to remove with out any harm. My Inspiron 9400 video card is having problems.
I have tried the 400 deg for 10 min but it did not last
Guide to Switching your Inspiron 9300/M170 WUXGA into the Inspiron 9400/M1710:
You can't simply replace the display screens. The instructions below must be followed for your screen to work properly.
Required Materials: - Small Phillips (I used #0 Phillips) - Either 2 monitors (9400 and 9300) or part #YPNL-N017B (Google the # to buy it).
Step 1: Remove the display assembly. Dell has an excellent guide for this on their website. [url] Click on Display)
Step 2: Remove the LCD Bezel (the gray trim around the screen). This requires removing the screws under the circular pads. I used a small flathead to pry open the bezel.
Step 3: Remove the 8 screws around the sides of the LCD. This will make it so your screen can be taken out. Do not worry about any screws on the top, they are for other things.
Step 4: At the bottom of the screen, there is a green circuit board. On the left side, you will see a screw holding the wire down. Remove this.
Step 5: Remove the LCD screen from the case.
Step 6: Look at the bottom circuit board again. This is the board we need to swap! Disconnect the 2 connections on the board. There should be on on the bottom and one on the side that is white.
Step 7: There will be 3 silver screws holding the circuit to the screen. Remove these screws. Note: This requires a very small phillips. I used a #0 Phillips to do the trick.
Step 8: Repeat steps 1-7 for your other monitor OR if you don't have another monitor...you will need to buy an inverter chip. The mfg # is YPNL-N017B. If you google that number, you should find a bunch of sites willing to sell it.
Step 9: Simply swap the bottom circuit boards between monitors or insert the new one that you bought.
Step 10: Follow steps 1-7 in reverse to reconnect everything back up! Before screwing everything back up. I suggest you plug it in first to test it out.
Congratulations. Your WUXGA LCD will now work properly on the Inspiron 9400. For anyone wondering, you MUST replace the bottom circuit board or the brightness controls will not work. You brightness will be stuck at the lowest setting and nearly impossible to see.
I am looking into replacing my old Dell Inspiron 6400, as it has been excellent -I think I should buy another Dell!
I am looking at the new Inspiron 15, which has a 15.6" display.
Can anyone tell me whether the actual laptop itself is bigger or smaller than my current 6400? I am interested in knowing width.
I see a lot of dead space on my 6400, and hopefully Dell realized this, and instead of making another 15.4" with dead space, they made use of this and gave a better display!
