Dell Inspiron 17 5000 Series :: Dropping Wireless Connection?

View 1 RepliesI'm having an issue with my wifi connection, it keeps dropping without an apparent reason.
It's a Dell Inspiron 5748-10001.
I have updated the wireless drivers Dell [Wireless 1704 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver] to this version Network_Driver_D1DJJ_WN_6.30.223.181_A00, but it still doesn't seem to work.
I don't know if it's related but I can't seem to install [Dell Wireless 1705 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver] Network_Driver_HP06Y_WN_10.0.0.276_A00, the installation is always a failure.
I am getting intermittently dropped wifi connection. Â It is a new/nearly new xps 12 convertible from the Dell outlet store a couple of months ago. Â I have installed all windows updates including win 8.1. Â My network adapter is an Intel Dual band wireless AC-7260 #2. Â I searched on the intel site using the auto driver function and it cannot find any new drivers there for it.
I have also set the wifi adapter to "maximum performance" whether on battery or plugged in and it happens anyway (even when plugged into AC).Is there anything I can do for this or does a technician need to replace the wifi card (or do I need to RMA the notebook)?
I've recently purchased an Inspiron 15 5000 series and have noticed that performance is unusually slow for the specs, especially since coming from an Asus G73JH that was about 4 years old.
I've noticed that in the Task Manager on Windows 8, that CPU usage never goes above 30% and although the CPU is listed as an i7-4510u @ 2.00ghz, the Speed on the Task Manager page generally sits at 0.75ghz and never goes above 0.79ghz (generally when it goes above 0.75ghz, it for a brief moment).
I've been Googling this problem for a little while now and the only person I've found with a successful solution to this problem was on a desktop and had to replace their CMOS battery. Considering I'm on a laptop, I'd imagine this would void my warranty somewhat ....
I've run the Dell Support program and all the tests pass. I've also installed all the drivers from the Dell site (including the BIOS update) and all my Windows Updates are up to date.
I reinstalled Vista 64-bit Business on my laptop. And I've installed all of the drivers which are working, but my wifi drops out every 20-30 minutes. I've done some research and found this isn't uncommon...
so I installed the lastest Intel drivers, disabled all of the power saving features on my wifi card/DCP.
But, it still disconnects! What the heck!? I might have had this same issue in Windows 7, but I can't really remember. All I know is that when I tried to back it up using WHS, it would always fail.
I've had an HP Laptop Pavilion g6 for around a year, operating on Windows 8.1
Â
I'm repreatedly (and increasingly) losing wifi connection to router - all other devices using the same wifi connection (desktop pc, nexus phone, samsung phone) all retain connection and internet access but the Pavilion keeps dropping off.
My daughter has a HP Split 13-m111sa x2 notebook/tablet. She got it in March of this yearand it is currently running Win 8.1 OS with updates applied.
Â
The problem/symptoms are this: - The WiFi connection she uses both at home and school is dropping after about 5 mins after connection. It is happening with different WiFi connections both secure and open requiring login (eg BT WiFi hot spots).
Â
Steps/action taken so far:-
Removed known networks and re-joined
Performed IPCONFIG /flush on device
Provided static IP address to WiFi at home, different to the one supplied by the router but in the same range.
NBR is better anyways
But anyways, anyone over here experiencing it?
I live at a Loft where everyone tenant has their own ATT 2wire modem. Periodically, the connection will drop and sometimes, it won't connect back. The 2wire modem at my loft WAS WPA protected and I've read that if you change it to WEP, it would solve the problem. I thought this was legitimate as my 2wire modem back home is WEP protected and my connection never dropped back at home.
So I changed it to WEP here at the Lofts and for about a day, there was no dropped connections. Now, the dropping is back even on WEP.
I just got my new HP ENVY laptop. Product Name: m6-k025dx. It runs on Windows 8 64-bit. I am experiencing sudden, frequent loss of my Wifi connection. When it gets disconnected I don't even get the Connect To slider (which slides from the right side of the screen and shows the list of networks) on clicking the network button at bottom right corner of the screen. I need to restart my laptop to get connected again and after 5-7 minutes, I lose it again.
Â
editing the Power Plan to maximum performance and unchecking "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" but nothing seems to work.
Â
The network driver is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230. I have also updated the driver and turned off Bluetooth and ethernet
The Wifi on this laptop keeps either dropping connection, or changing to a "limited" network. Sometimes it works fine, but more often than not it drops out. All other wifi enabled devices in my house work fine, so I know it's not the internet. I've also tested on two other networks where the same dropping out occurs.
Windows 8 64 Bit
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (up to date)
I've been trying to use a Logitech ultrathin touch bluetooth mouse and microsoft sculpt mobile bluetooth keyboard with my ideapad. I'm running Windows 8.1. Both work fine for a while but then it appears they lose the bluetooth connection. This seems to often coincide with access network/internet over WiFi. The only solution is to call up the Bluetooth manage devices setting and let it reconnect. If I leave the manage bluetooth device page open on a second screen it works, but clearly its not ideal!Â
Â
I was running the Lenovo driver for Bluetooth but I've tried removing it and using the Generic Windows driver. So far though the same happened after a short while.
I own a Z series Z540. After multiple Vista reinstalls and driver reinstalls, the wireless connection always drops. It would maintain connection for about 5 minutes, then it drops again. The wireless light stays on though.
I tried going on XP and ssee how that works out. Same problem, except that it drops when I MOVE it. And when it drops, the wireless light turns off, and when I move it back into a certain position again, the wireless light goes back on, and the wireless is back.
However, when I am on vista, the connection just drops for no reason, even without touching it, every 5 minutes. The light does stay on, though.
My Lenovo N500 has been connected to my house network for a while now, but recently has been dropping off. It seems to last for 2-3 minutes before dropping and does not reconnect automatically.
My husband has a laptop on the same network and he does not experience the same problems, so this is not a router problem.
I have checked all the settings and nothing has changed since I was permanently connected.
Â
This problem has only occurred in the last week or so and I really want to throw the machine out of the window at the moment.
Trying to resolve why laptop pc disconnects frequently from its wireless connection. No discernable pattern to disconnects, totally random. Happens in cycles of disconnect/auto reconnect or will go hours of stable operation. What I have noticed is tht the connection speed seems to vary, from a hig of 54.0 Mbps to as low as 2.0 Nbps. At same time the desktop pc (hard wired to modem) stays connected at 100 Mbps.
Using RCA modem, WRT 160n v3 router.   Inspirion 1545 pc
i was wondering if anyone else had this issue. My SXPS 16 has an intel 5100, and whenever I do any heavy downloading it invariably drops the connection after anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes. I called Dell up over it, and they claimed that it could not be a hardware issue or it would be dropping the connections more frequently, and I would see the problem worsen.
I know it isn't the network, as my old Inspiron 6400 could handle heavy network use and never had these issues. Yet, my shiny new Studio XPS 16 seems to have difficulty with it.
Anyone else notice anything like this, or have an idea of a fix? I've already tried updating the drivers, which did not fix it.
I have a Latitude XT running Vista 32bit, 64GB SSD, Bluetooth 360, and Dell 1395 WLAN card. My issue has been when I am pulling or sending large amounts of information accross the network, my Wireless stops functioning and acts as if I disabled the card. I cannot search for any networks and opening the mobility center I can turn the wireless off and on but it will not work till I reboot the Tablet.
My XT has all the current OS and Driver updates but this is really starting to bug me. This happened to me 2 times yesterday when I was copying an Adobe Standard 8 DVD to a server so that we can do installs without needing to carry the DVD. I would get about half way through the file transfer and my network would disconnect with a red X.
Basically, i recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad U410 blue from Canada Computer & Electronic. Everything was good until recently, I am having trouble connect to my home network!! It was fine, but two days ago, it just frequently drop out from my home wifi( keep saying limited access, no internet connection, then identifying.....no network access)Â
Â
The problem is, all other devices i got are fine! My other laptop, my phone, and my ipad are all good to connect to my home wifi!!! And what's more confusing is that, my U410 is OK to connect to other network like the hotspot I set up from my iphone(just trying), my frds' wifi......And what's even more bothering, is that it happened two days ago, and yesterday the problem just magically disappeared!! I used it surfing internet for the whole last night with my home wifi and no problem with it.
However, i woke up this morning, problem popped up again,, can't connect to internet! I mean, the signal is super good!!!! no problem with detecting network, even connecting, it just wont identify or whatever. Drivers all up to date! I mean is a brand new computer....
Â
SO is it my laptop's problem, or my network adapter's problem , or is it my router's problem!!!
2070 us laptop pc keeps dropping wireless signal. This has been going on for months!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased a HP Pavilion g6-2288ca notebook, product number C2N59UAR, running Windows 8. Recently I've been having issues where the wireless internet will drop without warning. I've already established that the problem is not with my router or ISP, so I can only assume that there is an issue with my wireless adapter, either hardware- or software-related. I can usually connect to my home internet with no problems. However, as I've stated, the internet has been dropping unexpectedly on my computer when it can be demonstrated to be working fine on other computers and internet-connected devices in my home. Now, the thing is, running the troubleshooter and having it reset my wireless adapter usually does the trick. Unfortunately, it's often a temporary solution, as the connection will usually drop right back out after a few minutes. I've attempted to manually update my drivers, but that seems to have been fruitless. Also, the rate at which it drops seems completely random. Sometimes I'll reset my adapter and it'll work for the next six hours, and sometimes I'll reset it and it'll drop within thirty seconds.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got my new x100e laptop today, and i really like it. But, it has a problem.Â
Â
I am connected to my wireless network at home, and it works properly on my other computers at house. But on the x100e, the connection drops from time to time. Suddenly, the internet is gone, but ten seconds later, the network is back up again.Â
It's not that big a problem, but it is frustrating to lose the internet from time to time. It happens from every 5 minutes to once 30 minutes.Â
I am able to get the Studio XPS 1647 for $1634 ($1552 after Bing Cashback) that has the following:
- Intel Core i5 540M
- 4GB RAM
- 500 GB HDD
- RGBLED LCD display
- Blu-ray
- Bluetooth
- 6-cell battery
Would this be considered a good deal, or does anyone know of any other deals (e-value codes, coupon codes, etc.) for the Studio XPS 1647?
Also, I noticed some people are wanting the ATI 5000 series for the SXPS 16. What are the benefits of the 5000 series over the 4670 and what is the holdup? Does it require a new MB layout or something? I will mainly be using my computer for Internet/email, photo editing, and occasional HD video and DVD editing...I am not a PC gamer. So, would it worth waiting for the 5000 series? I'm sure the 4670 will suit me just fine, but I've read that it is 'last year's technology' and I generally like to try to get the latest available technology at the time of purchase...
Typical Dell issue. I just got my new Dell 15 5000 series laptop. Spent 1 hour setting it up. Took a break closed the lid and now its dead. I have a power light on the front but screen wont come back. Have held the power button down for 10 seconds then retried it but nothing. It is plugged in just no screen or activity.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI think something similar has been posted here before. In essence, I find that when I use my VX Revolution (or is it MX? Whichever one is the mobile version), the mouse occasionally loses its wireless connection to the computer, and so I have to click multiple times to get it to register.
This is annoying enough for me to consider getting a wired mouse, but I want to know if I get something like an MX518 if I'm still going to run into the disconnect/lag issue.
In other words, is it a wireless issue or a Logitech/PC/Mac conflict issue? I experienced both with and without the Logitech software installed. The software is currently installed.
I'm new to this site and I'm quite surprised at the vastness of 'online' knowledge and happy to have learnt so much from the other threads ! Thanks !
But, I couldnt find any info on the new ATI 5000 series notebook GPU's in the Indian context. So
The DELL Studio series now comes with the HD 5470, which according to tha GPU benchmark isn't good enough for gaming. (The studio 17 here still carries the 4670, but, the better 5650 in UK) .
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Compute...s.13849.0.html
A studio
15 core i5-540M(2.53Ghz,4 Thread,turbo boost to 3.06 GHz, 3MB cache),
4GB 1333MHz DDR3,
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470,
320GB 7200rpm,
1080p LED Full-HD dispaly,
backlit keyboard & 1 year CCADP
costs INR 59,000 (excluding only delivery)
Should I go for it or wait for them to upgrade the studio 17 to the better 5650 graphics ? (portability isn't an issue for me so the 17 is fine too ). IMO the price is too high. But I would like to know the opinion of you folk ! Are there any better alternatives(I doubt !)................
I had an Acer Aspire in the 5000 series. A drink got spilled on the keyboard and I cut the power to the unit immediately. The motherboard was fried anyway, but the hard drive was salvageable. I had it put in a USB case to access the data as an external hard drive when I needed it. I had trouble with permissions on some folders and documents at times, but I was generally able to access what I needed.
A couple of weeks ago I opened a folder on the external hard drive that I hadn't been to since I replaced my notebook. I forgot what happened at the time, but I was called out of the office. Since then, I'm unable to read the USB hard drive at all. I get an error message that says "E Drive Not Accessible. Folder or Directory is Corrupt & Can Not Be Accessed". Every recovery solution I've found is for an internal hard drive. Will I need to try to put it in my current Aspire 6920 to do a directory repair/recovery? Is there a way to recover it externally without sending it out to a data recovery service?
I bought Dell Inspiron 5000 (5748) with Windows 8.1CPU Frequency is low from 0.76 - 0.78 GHz and when I start to load more programs(video render, 3d, CPU stress test) computer slow down and load is no higher than 40%, CPU remain the same(0.76).
Tried to change profile in power control, enable hidden menu for power control of CPU, in BIOS disable function for frequency adjustment - all is useless. How to force CPU to work on all his power when is need?CPU Intel® Core™ i7 4510U (2 GHz/cache - 4 Mb)
So my g/f has bought this laptop from her brother for £100 and upon this he did tell us the battery is dead and the charger he is using ins't the official charger but the laptop works.
Upon getting the laptop I decided to try and make the battery last longer by discharging and charging it a few times fully, but this has just completely stopped the batery from working, fullstop.
So now I am having to run it off the power supply solely.
I have ordered a new battery from ebay and made sure it is the correct battery by checking the model of the laptop, model of the battery and not only that it's £15 cheaper then getting it from shops.
Dispite all that I still need to get a charger for this model, so I found one on ebay which said it was for the 5000 series but not my model, I emailed them and they confirmed to me that it wouldn't work for my laptop.
So now I am on the lookout for a charger for this laptop 5003WMLi but I don't know the model number for the charger so if anyone has an official charger for the 5003WLMi can they please post the model number so I can look for a cheap official charger.
Or if anyone knows what watt, voltage I need then I could perhaps get a charger to suit my needs................................
So my friend gave me his laptop to fix, and everything is perfect... except that the acer emanagement program doesnt have any power management options, like slowing down processor etc.
What can I do? Where could I find the proper Emanager?
My ThinkPad X1 Carbon keep dropping the WiFi randomly. I have another computer, HP. This kind of situation never occur to my HP. So I am sure this problem does not relate to my router.Â
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my new X1 Carbon, with a new Netgear R8000 router, The X1 will not hold a wifi connection, even 3 feet from the router. There is plenty of signal strength on all 3 channels. It connects for a while, but then the icon turns to "limited", and I have no internet connection. It works with my older Netgear WNDR 4500. Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector sees the three channels with plenty of signal, but will not plot them. I even tried reducing the maximum rate to 289 Mbps, and it still will not maintain a 5 GHz connection.Â
