I have the operating system disk to restore my Dell Inspiron 8600 Laptop, but I can't find my Windows certificate of Authenticity that will work--I must have at least four or five. I've looked all over the web and the Dell.com to no avail.
This laptop has become very sluggish and I want to restore to factory default, however, contrary to the instructions on the website,when I press F8 I can get to a Advance Boot Options menu where there is an option to repair your computer but if I select this is takes me only back into Windows no "list of system recovery tools is given"....
The other options are Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, Safe mode with command prompt, Enable Boot Logging, Enable low resolution video, Last known good configuration ( advanced), Directory Services Restore Mode, Debugging mode, Disable automatic restart on system failure, disable driver signature enforcement and start windows normally.
The only disks which came with the laptop ( bought new) were For reinstalling Cyberlink Power DVD DX8.3 Software for Microsoft Windows 7, P/N 5RMCO Rev A00 and For reinstalling Dell Webcam Central Software...
I am planning to restore my laptop to its factory default because of some problems like the "Windows Update" window is all grayed out. I tried finding solutions in the net but it doesn't solve the problem so maybe system restore may do it but inst going to remove all the programs, like MS Office? Are the files saved in drive D also be removed? My laptop has MS Office already when my mother bought it. I have Acer Aspire 5730z.
I bought this new acer E5-771-378y , windows 8.1 and I want to get it all set up for him before Chrismas. Why can I not use a dvd disk for the recovery restore disk? It keeps telling me to insert a 16 gb usb. I don't have a free USB to use and I would prefer to put it on disks like I have done for every other computer I have owned.
I got rid of multiple malware problems, but I still don't have sound when going to youtube e.g., as well as can't install anything. Therefore I think the best thing to do is to reset the computer to factory settings.
cannot access the Dell back to factory condition in my young daughters Inspiron 6400, Ctrl - F11 I get no response except a load bleeping, is there any other way of accessing it?
I have a Inspiron 5437 with windows 8.1. I'm unable to boot it past a blue box asking for the system password. I don't have that password. My wife and daughter had somehow set this password up. before this I could not get windows 8 to open without a password. I do not have either of the required passwords. Is there a way for me to easily restore to factory settings? hey have no data on the computer that needs to be saved.
I bought my new latop in October and would like to restore it to it's origional factory settings, however I have been unable to do this as I have been told a number of different actions to try by PC performance and none of them work:
First I was told to press f8 on a reboot then select repair my computer so I pressed f8 and there was no option to repair my computer;
Second I was told to restart and press f12 insert a blank dvd and boot using cd/dvd which would create a boot disc which in turn would restore to factory settings, after choosing boot from cd/dvd my laptop just restarts as normal without creating a boot disc;
I was then told to burn recovery (which was on a small drive D:) to disc first then boot from cd/dvd which has no effect again windows starts normally.........
So I had a look around this recovery file and found a setup icon that said factory restore when I clicked on it, I got the message ERROR: the factory image could not be found please reinstall using the operating system media dvd.
how to restore / reformat an Inspiron 720 to factory settings? Its 6 years old now and in need of a reformat.online ive found several answers all suggest pressing F8 on system stsrtup and doing it there.however when i do that and choose Repair My PC i then only get 5 options
None of these seem to allow me to reset my PC to its original state.I didnt have a disc with the PC, there is a recovery partition on the hard drive so i presume i should br able to reformat from that.
I have been looking all over the internet and on Dell for the past 2 hours with no luck. I have a Dell Inspiron E1505. I want to wipe everything off this laptop except what was on it when I purchased it. I keep reading hit F12 or control F11 and then click Restore. There is no Restore anywhere. I have searched and searched and I can't find anything. I have found that a lot of other people don't have that option either.
This is my daughters old laptop on which I am trying to restore factory settings. I can access all my programes but am unable to restore as i am not the adminastrator. My daughters ex boyfriend changed the password on her account so she is unable to access to reset to factory settings.
I am trying to do a restore to factory settings on my Dell Inspiron 1420 using Vista. Unfortunately the F8, F11, F12, and all other F options do not work for me (something about a deleted partition??). Soooo, I am trying to locate the discs to use to do this action. I have heard that those are free under warranty, but my computer is from 2007 so is obviously not under warranty. I have done some digging around on the Dell website and have had a difficult time locating any such discs.
My Dell Inspiron 7737, was reformatted and the hard drive was erased. I am doing a factory restore, but it is stuck at 52% on getting hard drive ready?
I recently did a factory image restore on my Dell laptop because I couldn't seem to get rid of a virus on my computer. The factory image restore was completed successfully but now windows will not start up. Startup repair says

I performed regular diagnostics on the computer and all tests were passed. I also did a custom diagnostics test on the hard drive and all tests were passed, except for the last test it said "there is no flash drive in the card reader". Which I believe is probably normal?
My computer only came with two disks from the store. One titled 'Drivers and utilities-for reinstalling dell insipron laptop computer software', and the other titled 'Application- for reinstalling cyberlink powerDVD DX 8.3 software for windows 7'. I do not have a cd for windows 7.
I'm trying to do a Dell Factory Restore on my Dell Inspiron 1440 Vista laptop. I did a manual reinstallation some days ago, but only halfway through as I got confused with the drivers to install and messed up on the installation sequence, and thus started having driver problems again. Now, I don't see "Repair your computer" on the Vista Advanced Bootup options menu, even though the partition is still there intact and undamaged.
Any way to work this out ? I think I saw an article where doing a lot of steps through command prompt made the Factory Restore work, even when it does not show up.
I have dell inspiron 3420 core i3 which comes with window 7 home basic 64x and I upgrade it to window 7 ultimate 64x.. but now i want to restore it to its original factory setting to home basic 64x... I searched it alot about restore to factory setting and apply all the suggestion but cant work. When I press F8 and select system repair after that select language then for log in it shows me two account one is mine one which i created and the other I don,t know where it comes from. So i select my administrator account but there when i click on restore to factory setting it shows a message that "system/window cant find recovery disk" like this type of message..
I lost the restore partition on the original SSD that my Yoga 13 shipped with. Is there a collection of drivers and whatnot that would allow me to restore it to factory defaults on my own with a fresh windows installation? I have the win8 key from the BIOS but don't want to lose out on all the required drivers if I were to just reinstall windows myself.
I am still on a long learning curve operating my PC. After refreshing my Aspire E1-570. Windows to remove malware, I had to reinstall all my new apps & software which deleted . After doing that I received a message to create a recovery file to factory default file on a USB. When I tried to do there was message that new apps & software would be deleted. Can I create a recovery file without having to re-install all new apps & software again.
I'm trying to recover my friend's Aspire 5100 to factory default. I booted with the factory default CDs he had made. The problem i'm having is that when Vista starts up and the Acer programs are being installed (a 5 step process) the installation seems to freeze on step 4 (the eRecovery installation part)
I rebooted the computer and now when vista starts it begins trying to install the remaining 2 stages of the ACER setup.
Is there someway around this problem.
Basically, I'm wondering if i can eliminate this process and just install that stuff manually. Vista seems to have reinstalled fine, but i don't know how to get around the ACER setup.
I wrote Acer about the problem and all they could suggest was using the recovery on the hidden partition, which i'm pretty sure isn't there.
When I go to the Backup and Recovery, and I have not yet created a factory default disc, to do so... it does not do that. How can I create a factory default disc?
I'm trying to restore my SXPS16 back to how it was when i bought it using the recovery partition. But when I go to the advanced boot menu the option to do the factory restore is missing.
I know I can do a clean windows install using the CD that came with it but I'd rather just have it the way it was when I first got it.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this, or otherwise, is there another way to do a factory restore?
I am trying to restore my laptop (studio xps 16) to factory settings using the recovery image. If I look in my computer, i can see C and D drives.
D is my recovery partition with 7gb full out of 10gb. This is good and dandy except when i open the D drive, there is one folder that says RECOVERY that is empty. Why is it empty when there are 7gb's of files in there? I already have hidden files shown
