If left unattended or not used for a period of several hours my Dell Inspiron N5050 automatically hibernates. How can I disable this function so the laptop remains on until I elect to hibernate or shut down?,
Additionally I receive a pop-up message about the screen resolution of my attached Dell LED monitor as being too low and urges me to upgrade the resolution to 1080. How do I upgrade?
I have ignored the issue as long as I can but I am too often losing my current state when I hibernate my pc.The screen powers down which makes me think that the hibernation is happening as normal. However I still see the HDD power light remaining active for say 10 minutes.
The computer then throws a blue screen of death and then powers down.When I reboot I get the message Windows did not shutdown successfully. Windows will ask me to upload the crash dump file to Microsoft but I never get any kind of feedback.This process is quite frustrating.

Which EXACTLY system event(s) or situation(s) (the most comprehensive list) triggers the charger back to charge the battery, because "next Windows boot" is too unclear. For example, what about hibernate mode? Precisely, returning from it is not the Windows boot! In which moment of boot that trigger changes? Which system event(s) (application and/or hardware) generates initial command for it, what chain of devices and software calls involved (and can or can't be involved in different situations), how much time approximately consumes each chain link, and mention all affecting hardware settings and Windows settings.
How to disable auto brightness feature on my laptop. It's dell xps 15 with 1080p display. It happens on battery only, on every power plan. I don't mean the display dimming after a certain time, but it just goes from bright to dark. The darker the image, the darker the screen dimms and vice versa. I had another problem which was the colors going crazy when the screen went back on after unplugging charger or waking it on battery (it all went down to what was like 256 color range).
This problem was resolved after unchecking "Intel Display Power Saving Technology" in Dell Quick Set. Yet I can't get rid of the auto screen dimming which is extremely annoying. Has the laptop got an ambient light sensor or something?
I all seems like there's an ambient light sensor which is trigggered by the brightness of the screen itself and it shouldn't work like that.
This auto brightness problem is been bothering me for a long time now, and i can't find any fix for it at all. The display goes:
- Bright when having on screen a white web page, document, picture
- and it display dims down when having on screen a dark web page/ document or picture
Note 1: I changed the settings and Turn off Auto Brightness in windows 8 advanced power plan settings .
Note 2: I tried to go disable the AMD Vari-Bright but the windows 8 AMD catalyse control center, but it doesn't have that option to turn in off .
Note 3: I did disable the Sensor Monitoring Service in services.msc menu .. but still didn't do the trick :/
Note 4: I did disabled Intel Display Power saving Technology in intel's graphic and media Control Panel and .. with all this, still, the auto brightness problem isn't solved :/
Now .. what to do, with all this attempts and still can't get rid of it, i start losing hope i can use my laptop without the screen changing brightness on its own, watching a movie and browsing the web with the screen flickers to adapter to the background....
Just picked up this model from Best Buy yesterday. Like everyone else in the large thread I am having the yellow color issue as well. However, I have another issue that I can't seem to find any information on.
The brightness on my screen is constantly adjusting. It is most obvious when making the move from the desktop to Metro. After hitting the windows key, I can see the brightness increasing in stages (about 4 times) after flipping over to Metro.
I have disabled Auto-Brightness under the Change My PC Setting -> Power and Sleep menu. I have also disabled Enable Adpative Brightness under Windows Power Mangement but the issue still persists.
Is there any other location I might be missing a setting that can be affecting this ? Brightness is set to full and keeps dipping down.
I noticed the display automatically adjust its brightness when I open different webpages with different color background, which I'd rather it not do. How to disable this dynamic adjustment?

I have an Inspiron M5010 that is about 3 1/2 years old, running Windows 7 Home Premium.. a couple days ago it started acting strange when booting up coming out of hibernation, saying windows hadn't shut down properly and asking if I wanted to start Windows in safe mode.. once I got an error that said my computer was having a problem coming out of hibernation..now today it won't come out of hibernation at all..
When I push the power button, it tried to boot up but the screen stays black and eventually it just beeps at me several times until I push the power button again to shut it off.. what do I do???? I've tried turning it on and off several times and nothing has changed.. I don't even know where my Windows CD is that came with it at this point since it's been so long ago..
My Dell Inspiron 1526 won't restore after hibernation.
After a recent Vista update the laptop was placed in hibernation mode before the normal 'restart to complete update' process. After a minute or so i press a button expecting to see a logon screen, instead the monitor was off, blank screen with no power.
I presss every button but nothing happened. After a restart the monitor remains off but i can still hear 1526 checking the cd drive. I restarted several times trying the Fn+F8 option with an external monitor and pressing the up button while holding Fn but still the same.
1526 appear to be in a wierd state because i placed a XP boot cd and restart then hit Enter several times. If the backlight or inverter was the only problem then 1526 would boot from the cd as normal though i wouldn't be able to see. It doesn't, it simply power up, checks the cd drive then does nothing.
My 2013 Inspiron tended to come out of hibernation either quite slowly , taking 20 to 30 seconds to get to the log-in screen, or crash altogether (not every time, but every 2 or 3 wake-ups) which required a hardware reboot.. After doing some research, I found some information. It appears there may be some conflict between BIOS settings and Windows (8.1 in my case).
I checked BIOS settings and the only thing I found was that Intel's Rapid Start Technology was enabled. So I turned it off and rebooted. Turns out, the Rapid Start actually delayed the boot process: my computer boots MUCH faster now (about half the time from before) in the full boot process, it comes out of hibernation almost instantaneously (as I would expect from a system with i7 processor, 16 GB Ram and SSD) and it has not yet crashed when coming out hibernation.

I'm able to enter my password and then the welcome screen comes up whilst it loads but then the screen goes black and all I can see is the cursor. View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently went to turn my computer on after putting it into hibernation, and was greeted with an error screen telling me one of my RST drives had failed. After hitting CTRL-I and going into the config for it, I was able to disable RST completely and get my computer to boot back up. However, the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" monitoring program now shows no RST drive, and I am not sure how to troubleshoot it further without potentially affecting my C: drive. The computer is also running noticeably slower, though I would guess that's because it no longer has the SSD available.
I have already run the pre-startup diagnostics (F12 at boot) and have found no errors. I would like to know if this is something that can be corrected on my own, or if I will have to request parts or service from Dell. For reference, the laptop is a 7720R.
Recently bought a dell inspiron 11 and after completing the latest windows update the autorotate function does not work at all. I am still able to rotate the screen using the cntl alt arrow keys, however I miss the convenience of the auto rotate. Also the keyboard is not disable until totally being flipped into tablet position. All drivers and components show to be working in the device manager. I have looked into all of the video settings and auto rotate is not listed as n option. Again, I noticed the problem after I did the latest windows update.

My Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop was working fine. I got home and tried to power it on but got nothing so I figured it needed charged. I plugged the a/c adapter in and pressed the power button and still nothing? I tried removing the battery and trying to power it on with and without the a/c adapter. The only light it has lit is the charging light when its plugged in. Not even any sounds or the fan.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron 1420 as it's often freeze and auto shut down or restart. When it freezes, my screen will appear many small black pixels which are scattered around the desktop.
During the restart process, the system will require me to choose one of the few options available (eg. Start Windows Normally) as it stated there that the laptop was not shut down properly.
Remarks: My Dell Inspiron 1420 is equipped with NVidea 8400M GS.
I have dell Inspiron N5110. From past few days, it is auto scrolling to bottom of the page. Even if I try to scroll up its taking me down.
This problem exists even outside OS. I mean I have multiple OS installed on the system. After boot when OS selection windows opens, its always selecting last OS present in the list. System always makes some sound when this option is selected.
Regarding the keyboard. I have installed new keyboard last year under warranty.
Recently a client of mine starting experiencing WiFi connection issues, specifically the wireless will not automatically reconnect upon waking. One note: the "Wireless Network Connection" shows several routers but simply will not connect. The only solutions are either to reboot the laptop or run the connection troubleshooter in Windows. I have checked for driver updates (none available) , adjusted the power setting ("Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked), and verified that the AV software is not interfering - all to no avail.

I have my inspirion 17R now for 2 weeks, and when i play Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and GTAIV on it. It's gonna freeze after a while. It is not really hot. I think it's around 55~60 degrees celsius. This is without things put under the laptop. This problem is gonna piss me off for now, because also the hard drive light is on then and doesn't go out. And when i put my ear on the laptop the hard drive is not searching at all. ( it is a 1TB seagate momentus ) And i have a Core i7 and Nvidia Geforce GT630M 1GB. My dad said send it back, but i don't think that will solve the problem. Normally if i use Speedfan to put the fan on 100% the laptop will stay cool. Around 45 degrees celsius when gaming.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded my Win 7 operating system to Win 8.1. on my Dell Inspiron NS5050. All other components remain the same. The first deals with the USB Port. I insert a USB and it is not recognized. I open Device Manager and in Properties uninstall the the Driver and reboot. The USB now works correctly. Why does this keep happening? Tried to update Driver but comes back device is up to date. When USB fails I get message, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
Second Issue. Monitor won't start after any updates. After several times starting and restarting, I connected to an external monitor. External monitor starts and I can Log In. Computer functions normally with external monitor. Device Manager one time showed an error with the monitor. I deleted the driver and the original monitor worked correctly. Other times with a simple "Windows Defender" update monitor won't start. Using external monitor works every time. Additional monitor switching sometimes works other times not. Not sure what is wrong with the F1 key. Turns on and off monitor?
When booting my Dell Inspiron N5050 it goes to dell screen and ithe dell logo and loading line dont move at all for atleast 5 seconds then it goes to a black screen with a blinking white line then after that it pulls something up saying restart and insert proper boot media and it pull something saying something is using the same patterns then it says whole bunch of numbers. when doing a diagnostic it says theres one or more errors and theres a red x on my hardrive.

I have had problems ever since and neither Dell nor Microsoft can support. ANYWAY, until today, my DVD/CD player worked just fine. I used it every few days, but today when I went to use it, the door would not open. I notice the light next to the Open button is not lit up, but my device manager says it is in working order and the driver is updated.
I tried Ejecting from the device manager, but it does not work. When I ran the Dell Diagnostics program, it said that it was unable to run the diagnostics when there is media in the drive or the door is open. There is a game disc in the drive, and the game works, but I think it is downloaded onto the computer, so maybe does not use the disc during play?? How can the drive work and not the door? Is there anything I can do??
I have a dell Inspiron n5050. It was a hand down from my dad who hardly used, only used it for check his work schedule. Well it was working for years and then I was playing games like league of legend, sims etc. It never shut down till I maybe late 2014. I would turn it on, everything is all good, I can log in. But maybe 5-10 maybe more minutes of being on, it goes black or a message comes up saying "the instruction at referenced memory at could not be written " I don't know what is happening or what I done wrong. I can't get a new laptop or anything due to money issues at the moment.
