I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 15R. I facing a matter that my processor fan have increase in speed upto 50% then after few seconds, it decreases. This circle goes on. Why is that so?
View 5 RepliesI have a pretty good amount of knowledge behind computer software, and hardware operations. I am aware of the fact that the fan will increase speed according to increased temperature of CPU, and other components. However, is the fan supposed to periodically, turn on and off, each occurrence running at full speed for 10-20 seconds, then shut off again? How about the same question, when the laptop is physically(meaning you can feel it) hot? I don't think that this is a hardware issue. I've recently had a hard drive fail on me, and had another hard drive(same exact model hard drive) installed, and Windows 8 reinstalled. I think somewhere along the lines of the OS reinstallation process, some drivers were probably missed and this might be causing the issue. On the other hand, the fan in this laptop is the same one from the factory, which makes it 4 years old. What is the lifetime on the fans in the Inspiron N7110?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my MBP with the newest patch and im getting higher cpu temps by just doing my usual web surfing and itunes. I see the cpu raise and my fans will kick on well above 2000 rpm. Before this my computer would normally be stable around 1999-2000 rpm. I can clearly tell by just typing that my mbp is runing hotter.

Since new HDD has been placed, support team installed Windows 7 Home Premium and I had a excellent booting time of 20 seconds (total boot time, BIOS A07, no mSATA).
While upgrading Dell drivers for bluetooth,prompted for BIOS update and upgraded it now.
After upgrading my BIOS to A09, now my BIOS boot time itself 19 seconds, and windows boot time is 23 seconds.
Why previously good performance went down after upgrading BIOS...
if you could only spec up one (or two but not all) of the above, which would you chose?
A higher/faster processor, more ram, or a faster (rpm) or even dual HD's. I'm just trying to get an idea of what's really the most important.

According to CPU-Z, clock speed moves from 1.2Ghz to 1.3Ghz.. (nothing below 1.2Ghz)..
Is this normal?
HP HDX16 with P7350. In CPU-Z I see core speed 1595.8 I'm observing and it changes to 1595.9 and then 1596.0 and then 1596.1 and then shoots up to 1995.0 - I have never seen it reach 2.0 and never go down below 1595. When processor speed changes I can here problems with sound while listening to music.
Another thing is the Bus speed, which is fixed at 266.0mhx, isn't it supposed to be 1066?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a ThinkPad X240 recently. On Lenovo's website, it says the max speed is 3.30 GHz. However, in the Windows 8.1 Task Manager, it says the maximum speed is 2.69 GHz. See [URL] ....
Why there is a discrepancy? I also tried running Prime 95 for a little while and noticed that the "Speed" in Task Manager never went above 2.70 GHz. Did I somehow get a weird i7-4600U processor that has a max speed of only 2.7 GHz?

1-a 13" MacBook Pro, primary use will be Internet and e-mail and manipulating music files. Will my husband really notice a difference/benefit between the basic 2.26 and the 2.53GHZ (and is it worth about $250 more)? If he uses it for video downloading will that make a difference?
2- a 15" MacBook Pro- here I'm debating between the 2.66 and 2.8. My daughter uses it for Office apps, PhotoShop, music, Internet and e-mail. Again, would video downloading make a difference?
Normally when I shut power off my MacBook Pro, it takes about 4-5 seconds and then its off. Since I installed VMware Fusion yesterday, it takes about 1 minute to power off. What is going on? I read somewhere that when you quit a virtual machine you need to choose "kill all" to stop any background processes. How do I do this or is this just normal.

I have just gone upto 4mg of Ram and now have a 500mb hard drive, although, didn't realise that I could have got a 7200rpm one until I bought it
I just upgraded to 4gb RAM on my 1521 from 2gb. After I installed it I checkethe <Properties> on XP to see if all the RAM was showing up, 3.37gb showed up. But I noticed the processor speed was down to only 795mhz, so I checked it with CPU-Z again and that read 795mhz as well.
I went into BIOS and turned off the AMD PowerNow option and it bumped it back to 1.9ghz. I ran CPU-Z again and it was at like 1.895.2ghz, but i noticed the bus speed was down to 199.5 mhz. Shouldn't that be like 333 or something? I've attached some screenshots from CPU-Z after turning off AMD PowerNow, with PowerNow all cpu specs are much lower.

The Bios shows that it can detect and appears to be able to use a dual core processor but none of the 9300's were ever sold that way.
The motherboard uses a m-FCPGA socket. Does anyone know or has tried to use a dual core processor in this motherboard? I'm even curious as a project but,

I just bought a inspiron 1545 and after buying it I have a little bit of buyers remorse concerning the processor. I opted for the Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 at 2.1Ghz, but now I think I would have been better off with a faster processor as I am planning on keeping this laptop for as long as possible.
The two processors within my budget that I am looking to upgrade to are:
P8700 (2.53Ghz) (currently an option for the inspiron 1545 configuration)
or
P8800 (2.66Ghz)
My question is whether or not the inspiron 1545 can handle these processors? I know that on the spec page for the inspiron 1545 it says that it can handle any core 2 duo. I just want to make sure that is true. I tried asking a dell tech person but he was unsure/didn't really know anything.
In addition, would I be able to upgrade to a P9700 if I wanted to?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently checked prices of laptop processors and found a 3.06ghz Pentium 4-M (socket 478, 533 fsb) for $55. This is the right socket, and I know the Inspiron 9300 can handle a 533 fsb, but is this processor going to work? I'm currently running the 1.6ghz at 533 fsb.
I know this processor was never an option for the 9300, hence the concern, but if it'll work for $55 why not? And, if it doesn't work, what is the highest I can move up to?

So, my question comes down to which would be better:
PC-5300 (667Mhz) ram with 4-4-4-12 timing or PC-6400 ram (800Mhz) with 5-5-5-18 timing?
What is the maximum speed of memory that the e1505 can use? If it's 667 Mhz, I'm of course going to go for the ram with faster timing, but if it's 800 Mhz then I'll go for the speed. I'm using a 2.0 GHz core 2 if it matters, and all I could find it bios is that it's a mm061 "system

it's a 5400RPM drive - will upgrading to a 7200RPM improve things? It seems something is effecting the USB data stream.

I've downgraded my Inspiron 1420 recently to XP SP3 with all the device drivers properly installed. Everything seems works fine except that I found fan1 & fan2 always on at max. high speed (very noisy) and CPU always max. at 1.5GHz (seems lost SpeedStep control, checked enabled in BIOS, with SpeedStep control cpu speed should drop to lower rate while the notebook is idle), the fans and cpu speed status are checked via the utility program I8KFANGUI.
If I enabled automatically temperature control in I8KFANGUI then fan1 can turn off as cpu cool down to below 55c and only turn on at Low speed at 60c (still very quiet, noise no noticeable) but still fan2 is always high at 4XX RPM constant rate, I8KFANGUI in fact reported fan2 is not controllable even for just turn on and off .....
i really want to get rid of this stupid annoying speed-step technology. there is an option in bios that will allow me to turn it off, but it will put the processor at 1.2 Ghz, i want it at its fullest at 2.00 Ghz,
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have two apparently identical Inspiron 8500's. Intel Pentium 4-Mrated @ 2.4 Ghz.
One runs at 2.4 Ghz as shown in system properties, CPU-Z and other utilities.
The other runs at only 1.196 Ghz max, shows 1.196 Ghz in BIOS. Bios version A08 apparently the latest offered.
I've tried swapping batteries, power supplies and cooling fans. The fans and grills are clean, and the BIOS proves this isn't an issue of temperature or something that changes after bootup. I've installed speed switch XP, which also shows 1.196Ghz and nothing can be set in that program that changes it either.
I've downloaded the "Speedstep" software update from Dell ... no solutions there. It doesn't step down or up, just runs at max of 1.196 Ghz, which is of course noticeably slower than its twin.
I just bought an inspiron 17 r se, specs say memory at 1600 mhz. however when i ran speecy the memory only shows a speed of 798 mhz... what gives here ??
