Mar 31, 2009

now i installed Vista in C: drive is it posible to install windows server 2003 in D: drive? Suppose if i install like tht it will cause any problem? . Thank you all
Has anybody put Server 2003 or 2008 on there sony z laptop? I am considering dual booting xp and server 2003/2008. Does everything work? I would think it works fine as they are the same code base as XP and Vista.
I sucessfully installed windows 2003 server on Dell Latitude E6400. All the devices are working fine now. I would like to share with you my experience as below:
1. Suppose you have successfully installed Windows 2003 on Dell E6400: there are many topics instruct how to ingergrate the SATA controller driver to windows installer using nlite. I will not repeat this.
2. You MUST know exactly what the device model in your machine: harddrive, network card, wireless card, video card. I get this information because i have installed windows Vista on this machine before .....
I'm getting my new E6400 next week. It's good idea to install windows 7 64bit? Someone wrote that there is driver issue and because of that the battery drain faster...
I'm thinking about purchasing windows 7, do i need a clean install of windows vista to upgrade? and also do i need to get all the drivers ect like in the clean install of vista if i wish to upgrade? i have a vaio vgn-fw21L
Friend recently purchased this new laptop, but it's a bit sluggish. i want to do a clean install, but of course there was no Windows Vista DVD provided. How do i create a copy of the Vista installed on this Acer laptop? Does Acer ERecovery spit out a Windows image or does it copy over all the bloat ware as well? Is it hidden in some folder like Lenovos?
I bought a new MacBook Pro and am going to give my folks my 2 year old HP dv6500t. I backed up all my stuff and using the System Recovery DVDs from HP wiped out and reformatted the drive.
Unfortunately now when I try to turn on the system I get a message about there being an error in c:windowspantherunattend.xml at line 6 column 169 (I think) and it can't process the answer file.
I tried to boot into safe mode to see if I could see what is in the unattend.xml file and of course Windows Install can't run in Safe Mode.
Is there any way I can get the dv6500 to be useable again?
I have a inspiron 710M. Every time i try installing windows, my laptop shuts down. I have the recovery CD from Dell.
When i ran the diagnostics test, its giving me "DST short test" failed message.
I have checked my hard disk and there is no problem. I have formatted my drive and every single time i try to install windows, it shuts down at different times but never lets me install.
I think I made a mistake in purchasing my Inspiron 15 without a CD drive. This laptop came with Windows 8 (I hate it) and I would like to install Windows 7 (I love it), but not sure that I can. Forget it. I am not thinking. I just need to attach an external drive.
I just bought a new Dell Studio 1535 and encountered the following problem:
I inserted my windows xp installation cd (as the laptop came with no OS). Windows setup began running, installing a multitude of drivers and files as it should until a message, something in the likes of "starting windows" (up to this point the screen is still the dos-style setup program). After a few seconds, a MS windows blue screen appears, stating that it encountered a fatal error.
I am about to re-install Windows on my friend's laptop, an Aspire 4520.
I am not super familiar with laptops, however I have noted that at the top of his desktop, there is an utility program, a toolbar that I think is called Empowering Technology. My friend uses it mainly to check his battery charge level, although there are a few other tools in this bar, like "acer eData Security Management".
The problem is, if I reinstall Windows, all programs on the Windows partition will be erased. That included this program/toolbar. And I don't know where to get back it back...like where to download a new one for installation.
I admit that I messed up in trying to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit without reformatting and using a flash drive and instructions downloaded from YouTube. And yes, I have learned a great lesson from this experience. Now I have purchased from DELLÂ a Windows 7 CD along with a drivers CDÂ for me to start over with. I would like to know how to do this the right way. I have a Inspiron laptop model 17R N7110. I am hoping that this fresh install will put this laptop back like it was when it was new. Minus the bloatware of course.
how to install an ethernet controller for the VGN-Z750D? I have downloaded and installed this driver from the Sony Website but it does not seem to be working after a couple of reboots?
I just downgraded to Windows 7 from Windows 8.1 and unfortunately the driver for the bluetooth server isn't working on this machine. What are the correct driver for the following bluetooth server device:  Device Id:  BTHENUM{f0b2dd71-fb14-4e-30-a62d-931874bf282f}_LOCALMFG&0000
I am not able to install the Wide Wireless Lan Driver64 in my Lenovo B460 laptop which is running with Win 7 64 bit ultimate version. When i installed the avialable drivers fro lenovo site,it showed No matched driver error showing.
I'm considering this upgrade, but I only have vanilla install disks.
Are there issues running a non-Dell OS on an XPS M1330? I seem to recall reading something about this here, but cannot find the related thread(s).
I understand about having to find all the drivers (I have read much of the Vista 64 upgrade thread by Trebuin [thx, T - brilliant work!]), but don't want to go through the pain if a vanilla OS disk won't 'cut it'.
For those that use Windows on your Mac's, which version do you recommend? I'm thinking, what's best for battery life, performance etc..
I have a copy of Windows XP Pro SP3 and Windows Vista Ultimate SP2. I'm tempted to go with XP for simplicity, and the fact that it has equal compatibility and a shed load less intrusive DRM.
