Dell Latitude E6410 :: System Analysis Continuously Showing That Have To Make Three Updates

Jan 29, 2015

I have the latest drivers, freshly installed, but when I scan again the system, it says I need to install these (see image). I download them, I install, I reboot... and still uninstalled.

And I won't be happy with something like "don't worry, if your system is working, just ignore them". Because if that is the case, then for sure I can expect more things not taken care of, from Dell.

Dell :: Latest XPS M1530 Owner Starting On The Warranty Exchange Road...

Mar 3, 2010

I contacted Dell yesterday morning via chat because my laptop has started crashing when playing fallout 3/wow, again... This time I remained persistent that I did not want another defective new motherboard with a bad 8600m GPU in it, installed for me. I explained that it’s not a matter of IF the replacement will fail, but WHEN. I was persistent that I wanted a better solution than the motherboard swap. I asked to be transferred to the agent’s supervisor.

When transferred I was told that they "redesigned" the motherboard/GPU so this issue was no longer occurring. I explained to the supervisor how he must have his facts wrong because that is not true. I was eventually offered a warranty replacement. It only took an hour of being firm but polite. I was told it would take 1 week to get an order number from the supervisor and I could reference the chat log number if I had any questions.

After I got off the chat, I realized that I forgot to get the dispatch number. Today I went back into chat to get my dispatch number and asked again when I have an order number for my warranty exchange. Today I was told 2-3 weeks for the order number and 4-5+ weeks to actually get the new system. The agents explained that the "We (dell) are seeing a huge backlog in our warehouse and that is the reason we are not committing on a earlier date." I asked why I was told 1 week the day before but I was only apologized to for being miss-informed.

Currently I feel like i am trapped and dell doesn't care about me as a customer, and that is a shame. I am going to be updating this thread as I progress through this process for a couple of reasons. The main reason is I hope that this will help me keep my insanity in check when dealing with the frustrations of spending my money for my "cool" xps 1530 with 4 year complete care warranty that was almost broke more than it worked. It would often take dell 2-3 weeks to get a tech out with the correct part to fix my laptop when it had issues. The second reason it to just document in one central location this process. Finally maybe I can help pass some people’s time out there by letting reading about my story :-)

In conclusion, I am grateful that I was approved for a warranty replacement, and hope that everyone else out there who has “dealt” with dell’s bs regarding the 1530/1330 will get the same result. It just sucks the wait it looking to be about 1.5 months, lol :-)

How exactly often do they happen? I plan on getting an FW very soon, I could buy one early Feb, or wait until middle march will be the best times for me to buy one financially wise. My question is if I wait until middle March sometime, do you think there will be some upgrades on it opposed to the current FW390CTO?

Dell :: Adamo XPS Refresh?

Apr 7, 2010

I'm a somewhat pleased (after months of displeasure) SXPS1645 owner *points to sig* but after 5 months of carrying this thing with me to my campus daily (and pretty much everywhere else I go) this machine is heavy and big and bit overkill since when I'm outside I rarely use it for video editing and gaming which I tend to do at home. So for the Fall(ish) I'm going to be in the market for an ultraportable, but after using this machine it's going to be hard to go to a machine with a wimpy atom processor or even a ULV C2D. So I found the Adamo XPS and it appeals to me in the same way the SXPS did, an eye catching design that isn't bulky and still performs well. However looking at the specs currently available for it I was disappointed. It's using a hodgepodge of outdated parts. I wanted to basically start a thread on potential component refreshes for the Adamo XPS, in the hopes that by the time I'm ready to purchase one some of these things will become reality. Also I'm curious about other brands of ultraportables (NOT netbooks) that people use/have used and would recommend.

Maybe I missed it? Since I'm sending my 1645 back and my wife likes her 1340 a lot I was curious if anyone heard anything at CES or otherwise about a refresh of the XPS 13 line.

Would really like to see one with an i3 or an i5 and a 335nvidia ro better with 1gb... but i sort of wonder if they'll wait until after the Alienware m11x is out and loses hype so that it doesn't have any competition.

Dell :: Refresh On Studio XPS Anytime Soon

Aug 19, 2009

I've been thinking of getting a Studio XPS 16.

However, before I buy one I want to know if there's been any word on dell refreshing the CPU or chipset on this model? I would rather wait 6 months to buy a new laptop than to buy it and have a newer model come out.

It's been a while since I kept up with the latest mobile processors and chipsets. I found a powerpoint presentation that indicated Intel would release the T9900 in the second half of 2009, but not sure if this would also include new chipset.

Dell :: Refresh Of Studio XPS Line? When?

Mar 21, 2010

Well im currently using the Dell XPS M1330 since 2008 let me say it has been awesome! The only problem has been the battery which has been dead since early February I believe so I have been operating using the adapter.

The dead battery is still in the laptop.

However, now my idle temps are over 75 c and often over 80 c, so im thinking about selling this in fact I will be selling this shortly. Especially given the fact that the warranty ran out in February of this year.

Anyhow, im wondering if the XPS line will be refreshed in 2010 and when can we expect some new XPS models.

I only purchase my computers from Best Buy and currently they really do not have anything which really grabs me

Dell :: The Official Operation GPU Refresh Thread

Mar 27, 2010

We are all waiting on a refresh of the Dell Studio XPS 1645/1647 to include the 5000 series ATI graphics cards. So to get the message across I have come up with a little thing called "Operate GPU Refresh". If you have been following the iPhone/AT&T you should know of the "Operation Chokehold" that iPhone users took part in to try to get the message across the the AT&T network needs upgrading.

But instead of trying to take down Dell, we will simply be trying to get the message across to them that we want the new cards, and since every other manufacturer pretty much already offers them we "would" rather buy their competition.

On March 30th of 2010 all users who want to participate will visit the "Dell Chat" PC/Laptop sales chat and ask when the 5000 series will be available. Also chime in on the fact that competitors such as HP already have these newer graphics cards available and you are tired of waiting, and if they can't give a solid reason just say "I guess I will go with HP" or whichever company you feel is the next alternative to you.
Goal:

Get the message across that we as customers want the latest hardware.

Get the message across that Dell is lagging behind their competition and if we have to wait any longer we will forget about Dell and buy their competition (in theory).

So set your calendars for March 30th. Dell "D-Day". Us notebook review members telling Dell what we want, and that we want it NOW.

Dell :: Refresh Rates On Notebook LCDs

Oct 31, 2007

About two and a half years ago, I bought a Dell notebook for work and play. Overall, I was rather pleased with it. However, it's now time to start shopping for a new notebook.

The "ghosting" effect is one of the few downsides of my current notebook - the refresh rate of its LCD is apparently not that good. I now see that some stand-alone LCD displays are claiming refresh rates of around 4ms. That rocks.

I've tried to track down the refresh rates for the current Dell notebook displays, but I've had no luck. Can anyone provide such info?

Can anyone provide info on the refresh rates for displays used in other gaming notebooks?

Dell :: Updates And Next Iterations Of S-XPS 13 And 16?

Dec 8, 2009

Especially the 16" model seems to have some excellent features with the new Core i7, and thankfully everything seems Linux compliant. I just have a few questions before I pull the trigger, as I don't have as much background on Dell products as I do some other manufacturers.

First of all, is there anything new on the horizon? Are there any highly rumored updates with new hardware, new models etc? I hate to buy right at the end of a cycle, but as Dell seems to update faster than Apple and whatnot, I don't want to miss anything.

Any ideas what is going to be in the refresh for the current two S-XPS models? For instance, new graphics cards, Core i7 or i5 in the 13" as well? Perhaps multitouch trackpads (unless they already have them? I've conflicting reports regarding multitouch and to what "degree")? I'd like to see a few little updates, especially on the 13".

I see that Linux is available (ubuntu) installed on a certain version of the XPS 13 and 16. Unfortunately, these seem to be the lower end models (No Core i7). Would there be any way to configure a maxed out configuration and have them put Linux on it? Perhaps over the phone? If I over over the phone, will that negate the special deal pricing from the link here at the forums .....

Dell XPS 15Z :: Not Coming Out Of Hibernation

Dec 29, 2011

I've just purchased an XPS 15Z (highest category with the 256 SSD) and face a few  issues

1- the computer often does not come out of hibernation, the system cannot be restored after it goes in hibernation mode.

on several occasion I have put my laptop in hibernation mode and when I turn it back on it prompts me with a black screen and an error message giving me 2 options (1 - either try to restore files or 2- exit safe mode and cancel restore) if I chose the first option of trying to restore the files it gives me another error message which says:

"windows boot manager, your computer can't come out of hibernation - status 0xc0000411
info: a fatal error occurred processing the restoration data
file: hiberfil.sys
Any info that was not saved before the computer went into hibernation will be lost"

Therefore when I turn my computer back on, all windows and programs I had previously opened are closed and not saved

I have had to deal with this issue for over 10 times since I've had my computer (less than 5 days)...

2-  overall memory problem, with approx 50 Gb missing (might be linked to my first issue)...

I haven't installed anything on my laptop except for some photos that I transferred from my old computer (accounting for 40 Gb of memory) however I have 99 Gb of used space on my SSD.... this is weird since every time I switched on my laptop there's less and less space available even though I haven't installed anything new...

I've had the computer for less than a week but both these issues keep happening...
