Dell :: M4400dual Link DisplayPort > DVI
May 20, 2009
I am about to be the owner of an M4400, and I am already the owner of a 2560x1600 monitor. So, the basic question is this - is it possible to connect the two (at full res) without a dock?
Dell only has single link (up to 1080p) DisplayPort to DVI adapters. However, some sites (e.g., here) do sell dual-link ones. I assume that the DisplayPort on the M4400 would have to support dual-link for that to work, though... Would the M4400 work with one of those?

I have a Dell 2408 monitor connected to my M6400 via the display port but there is no audio going thru to the built in speakers in the 2408? Has anybody been able to accomplish this. Is this an issue with the M6400's port not carrying audio...or the 2408 not able to pull the audio from the display port

I currently connect my desktop machine to my AV receiver through optical digita SPDIF.
If I use the two DVI ports on the E-Port Plus for two separate monitors, will the DisplayPort carry proper 5-channel audio?
Or, is the only audio output supported by the E-Port Plus the 2-channel, analog headphone port? I'd like to purchase the E-Port Plus with the Precision M4400 and output audio in this fashion.

I recently bought an adapter to connect from the DisplayPort to my TVs HDMI.
My problem now is that the display on the TV becomes black or has blue stripes after every now and then :-(
Now I'm not sure where the problem is (adapter, gfx driver, tv,..)
Has anybody successfully connected via DisplayPort to HDMI?

I'd like to load a few 720p movies onto my E4600 and hooking it up to my LCD TV to watch movies.
Thing is that when I connect my 2.1 speakers to the laptop through the headphone port, the audio isn't very good.
I'm wondering if when I use the DisplayPort (will be using a DP->HDMI cable/adpater) will thet audio quality be the same.

I have a Latitide E6500 with the Nividia Quadro NVS160M graphics card. I'm running Vista Business 32bit. My E6500 vid outs are s-vga and displayport. I use my laptop mainly in my home office and I would like some more real estate, when in the office 1440x900 is just not enough. When looking at monitors displayport does not seem a common input but most have HDMI.
I then looked at monoprice and saw two possible options for displayport -> HDMI, an adapter or a cable. What is the difference between the two and which should I use if I want both audio and video signals transmitted? Or am I stuck using a monitor that has a displayport input?

I have a notebook zbook 15 Product D5H42AV.
Â
On this laptop I have a DisplayPort output and a Thunderbolt output.
Â
I have bought on the market an adapter (not from HP) from DisplayPort to HDMI. I cannot get the output displayed on my LED TV (full HD).
Â
Could it be that the adapter supports only DisplayPort 1.1 and not 1.2?
Â
If I want to see the screen on TV, shall I use the a DisplayPort adapter or Thunderbolt adapter?
Is there any way to troubleshoot why I cannot display the output on TV from my laptop?

My MDP to Hdmi arrived today and works great on my Dell 24" however my Logitech Nano mouse would randomly become laggy like its losing signal causing the mouse pointer becomes jerky. Once I unplug the MDP the mouse works fine again.

I bought the Macbook Pro 13" on March 21st, couldn't wait for the refresh.
Now my question is, how do I connect to the external monitors, as in which Mini Displayport do I need to buy? I see a lot of displayports at Fry's for under $20 for Mac but don't know which part number exactly do I need for my MBP.
Another question is, I might want to get the Mini Displayport to DVI. Would DVI to HDMI work from the Apple Mini Displayport? Would DVI to VGA work from the Apple Mini Displayport also? I have alot of DVI to VGA/HDMI adapters so I was wondering would it work if I just bought the Mini Displayport to DVI.

Yesterday I bought a little 22" Vizio VW22L television to use as another monitor for my W530. I'm using this cable:Â [URL]Â to connect my computer to the TV. When I connected it at first it worked fine for about 45 minutes then I just got screen noise (short, multicolored vertical bars moving everywhere). Now whenever I try connecting it I get my computer's display on the TV for a couple minutes, then the screen noise again.
Â
I was wondering what the issue is or could be. The cable seems to work fine. I tested it with a Magnavox television and a different Vizio TV. This TV's HDMI port also seems to work fine. I had my brother connect his Samsung Series 3 to it via HDMI and it ran perfectly well. The Lenovo update utility says all my drivers are up to date, as does Windows update.

I bought a Roline DP to HDMI cable hoping to be able to watch HD content in my livingroom and not having to plug an extra audio cable as DP should carry sound too.Â
When I do the same as on the youtube video, I get the following settings in the control panels:Â [URL] ....
But there's no sound coming out of the TV. I've tried it on my SyncMaster PC/TV Screen and on my Samsung TV in the living room. On the TV in the living room, the windows audio manager shows the device, but it cannot be selected as show above. It stays grey.Â
I've got a T420s with discrete nVidia Optimus graphics (Quadro NVS4200M). Driver version is 1.2.19.0 for nVidia HD-Audio and 8.17.12.6696 for NVS 4200M. This information comes from the device manager. I installed my system from scratch and used ThinkVantage System Update 4.Â
Where the problem comes from? I could only imagine that the cable isn't capable of carrying audio, but that seems rather illogic, does it?

I have just switched to Windows 7 Pro and it is already driving me crazy. I use a Lenovo X200 with my Ultrabase. I connect the notebook to an external display via DisplayPort. The Intel GM45 Graphics Driver crashes about twice a minute when the Notebook is docked and connected to the external screen. Than all screens become black and afterwards a message pops up, that says "Intel Graphics Accelerator for XP (R) stopped responding and has recovered". Sometimes the notebook crashes and reboots. That gets really annoying and I haven't found a solution. Bios Version is 3.20. I loaded the latest Intel Graphics Driver from the Lenovo Webpage (8.15.10.2302) with Windows 7 SP1 (all updates installed). When I use a standard windows driver and not the Intel driver the external display flickers black every minute once. The newest Intel driver (from the Intel Website) does not work, since it says that it is not released for my notebook.

I have a Dell M4400 with nVidia 770 and I also have a Dell 3007WFP which supports 2560x1600 native resolution. Does anyone know if the M4400 will support this resolution if I dock it to an E-Port Replicator and use the DVI output of the docking station to the 3007WFP? When I looked at the Dell manual for the E-Port Replicator (and also the Plus) it didn't say if the DVI output supports dual-link.

I'm getting myself an Intel WiFi Link 5100 to replace the current Dell 1510N card in my Studio 1535. Is the Intel WiFi Link 5100 fully supported by my laptop?
Are the number of wires same for both cards? Any specific steps that I need to do when replacing the card? This is my first time doing this so I'm a bit nervous.

This has been happening a for a couple weeks now.
Problem:
Every time I boot up the computer and switch on the WiFi/Bluetooth button on the right side - only the Bluetooth light turns on above the keyboard.
Temporary Solution:
I go to Device Manager and find that the "Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN" slot has the exclamation sign next to it so I disable the card and then reenable it again, then the problem is gone (the WiFi light turns on and I can now finally see wireless networks in the "Connect" window) .....

First of all I have a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen - will be taking this up with Dell tommorrow as its really off putting especially on brand new laptop.
My second issue is with wireless - did have problems initially with wireless disconnects and genrally slow speeds
Im not entirely sure but removing Mcafee seemed to work with the disconnects at least - load of rubbish imo
Now my only other major issue is with wireless speeds on the 1703 card
I seem to max out at about 45mb on all broadband speed tests - while on another laptop I get the full speeds of 80mb on the same server at the same location
Im only getting a link speed of 72Mbps in the networking tab of Task Manager and this does seem rather slow - the other laptop gets 450Mbps (better wireless card - to go with my Asus N66U Router)
Anyway my thought process is that the 1703Â wireless card is not up to much - I understand that the 1703 card is wireless and bluetooth - with I think 1 antenna for bluetooth and one for wireless connected to the wireless card.
Now I dont use bluetooth much if at all - so does it make sense to buy just a wireless card and connect the two antennas to the card and therefore losing bluetooth connectivity but gaining better wireless connection
I think I have an Intel Centrino WiFi Ultimate N 6300 in the other laptop

I just recieved my Latitude E6400 today. I like the laptop, but the Intel Wifi Link 5300 AGN adapter continually drops my wireless connections to my home Linksys WRT54G access point and router. This is a version 5 Linksys unit running in mixed b/g mode with WEP encryption. It is running with a unique SSID which is not broadcast.
At first, my connections would drop and it seemed related to the Control Point software preinstalled on the E6400. So I uninstalled the Control Point System Management and Connection Management software, and this seemed to result in a small improvement: I can do a download successfully, but if I'm idle any amount of time the connection drops. This last makes me think power to the Wifi Link card might be getting turned off somewhere if there is no activity. However the Control Point Security Manager software is still installed (as it came from the factory) and might also be contributing to the problem.
I've used an 802.11n-compatible WiFi card in my home. The driver version for the WiFi Link is 12.0.0.82 and is dated 07/08/2008. The Linksys access point has been here a couple of years and is running Linksys firmware version v1.00.6. It is set up for 128-bit WEP encryption. I've had numerous laptops connect to it, all with older Broadcom b/g cards, and as long as the WEP encryption is set properly there has not been a connection problem. now to see if I can duplicate the connection dropping issue.

I am currently in the market for a laptop for college. Now I am not looking to buy atm but I am getting ideas for the fall semester. My overall goal is to provide mobility in my life and not feel like I have to depend on the desktop to handle my computing needs. I have been looking at Apple's OS X for the past 1 1/2 years and feel it's finally time to start making the switch.
Computer Science Major
-Not intended for Gaming
-Not intended for Graphic Design/Video Editing (outside of iLife)
-Able to boot Windows (XP or Windows 7) if needed.
-Able to run iWork, iLife, iTunes, etc. w/o issues.
-Last for 2+ years w/o needing upgrades (unless desired) or replacement.
As you can see I will still need a dependent on Windows. This comes down to several classes that I have taken in which there wasn't Mac equivalent software to some programs I needed, so I will need options. What I don't know is how system resources on the Mac suffer when you boot to Windows. Would I need to buy higher system resources such as a strong processor? Will a 2.0 be sufficient or would I need a 2.4 or even have to look at a MBP's 2.66GHz? Now I don't know if I am overlooking anything else and I get the impression from looking at other posts that I wouldn't have an issue but just making sure before I spend the money and make the switch.
