I'm having some issues with my D620. I got Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for my PS3. It's a really good and fun game,
but i wanna try out playing it with the mods some people have come up with. So i bought it for PC and installed it on my D620.
The problem is that every time i click "Play" in the main menu, the quickly says "Oblivion has stopped working" and then it exits Oblivion. Can anyone help? I don't know much about computers. I'll get you whatever information you need to help me out
Has anybody tried to put a Latitude d620 ATG lcd display cover on regular D620? This seems like a simple switch but I would like to hear your opinions.
Per the Oblivion website, recommended CPU is a 3Ghz or higher. Minimum requirement is 2Ghz. For me, everything runs fine until an enemy shows up. Even if the enemy is BEHIND me, in pursuit, not being rendered, things get a bit laggy. Is this due to the fact that my 2Ghz CPU just cannot keep up with this CPU intensive game? If so, will the T7600 fix anything? That's only 330Mhz extra, and still errs on the side of minimum requirements. I've got the low-poly grass mod, and have done all of the Oblivion.ini tweaks that I felt were applicable.
I have a Dell e1705 with a 7900gs o/c'd, a t2300, also 2 gigs of 667mhz ram and I am running xp. Oblivion doesn't seem to get much gains from resolution drops or shutting off distant landscape. I also notice intermittent lag and the other times I'm running from 30-50 fps. Do you think it could be this processor? I also did the tweaks for oblivion and I'm running default dell drivers. I really think it could be the processor because when it doesn't lag it runs smooth, and it'll jus be a short but annoying freeze up. I'm thinking of reformatting which isnt a big thing to me. Maybe it's just too many numbers for my 1.67 ghz core duo to crunch? I keep my PC's health maintained.
I have a store-bought copy of Oblivion with the latest update. I bought the Horse Armor Pack and Vile Lair Pack, but both refuse to install. I get to the screen where I enter the serial number, hit the 'Next' button, and that's where they both freeze. Under Data Files nothing shows up as being installed either. Wondering if I'm overlooking something..
i have a Dell D620 laptop with a fan issue. about 2 weeks ago the fan stopped working, so i replaced it with a known working fan.................................................
trying to control the fan speed. I've tried i8kfangui31 but still no luck. Then I run the diagnostic software from Dell Support website, the result of the processor on/off test is error code 3700:011B -> my fan failed to slow down to 2500rpm. the fan keeps running at high speed (about 4500rpm). my bios is A10.
I got this laptop second handed. At the time I got this laptop, there are 2 problems.
The first is, the 2 back USB port is gone, leaving only a hole at the body. I dont really got problem with this because I still got 2 side USB port.................................................
i recently bought a dell from craigslist a month or so ago and seemed to work fine, i recently installed ubuntu on it, i dont know if it has anything to do with my problem but anyways...
problem started when the laptop would shut off unexpectedly, but would start right back up fine.. i think it was due to overheating im not sure if the fan is working or not bcuz i hear no sounds coming from it. it showed a screen saying it shut down bcuz of it was getting too hot twice. i opened it up and checked for dust in the fan and cleaned it up. after it shut down about 3 or 4 times while using it, it wouldnt reboot. when i push the power button the three caps lock, number lock, and scroll lock will flash as does the power light then it will shut back down. occasionally it will boot and make it as far as the desktop screen then the screen will go black, but the lights will still be on as if the computer is still running, and i will have to hold the power button down to get it to turn off.
one thing i have noticed is that with the hard drive in the laptop it will make a beep noise then shutdown, if the hard drive is out it will shut down with no noise.
i have tried everything, i have reseated the ddr memory and tried running off just the power cable or just the battery with no success.
I have recently purchased a D620 from eBay and am experiencing the following problem with charging the battery:
Battery charges normally to 29% and then charge rate falls back and charge will not exceed 31% and charge light goes off.
MobileMeter gives battery wear rate of 21%
When the laptop arrived the battery had a 100% charge but once used it will not charge over 31%.
I have tried different charger.
At 31% I can get 40 mins of power normal use.
Is the problem with the battery or internal control of the charging rate? If the latter it could explain why the battery arrived fully charged if it had been charged on another computer or commercial group charger.
I like my Dell D620 so much that I just got another one. I've heard that I should not add an additional 1G module to the existing 1G in this laptop, but rather that it is best to replace the existing 1G with either two matched 1G modules or one 2G module. Is that correct? Seems a shame to toss the 1G that's already in there . . .
Could I add a 2G module to the 1G that's already in there? I'm assuming that the bay will accept two RAM modules.
I have a Dell D620, approx 2 years old that has been a real work horse....until recently. For some unknown reason it now does not recognise either of the two batteries I use in it. The spare one slots into the DVD bay when I need extra juice.
Now I know that batteries deteriorate around the 2 year mark but both of them on the same day doesn't seem right??? All I now get is the yellow flashing battery indicator and it only runs on mains powere.
I'm happy to buy another battery but would prefer to resolve the current problem first if at all possible - any suggestions greatly received?
Does anyone know where I can buy a D630 motherboard. I want to convert my 620 too a 630 so I can get the Intel 965 chipset. My 620 has Nvidia graphics so preferably I would like to find a D630 notebook with built in Nvidia graphics. I have checked ebay with now luck and I know that asking Dell about this would be a complete joke. Anyone know where I can just buy Latitude parts?
I have owned a Dell Latitude D620 for the last few years. Lately, i have realized that my 9-cell battery is only charging to 84% (4 weeks old), and it only gets about 1.50 hours on full charge.
Also, at random intervals, the LCD screen flickers and becomes blurry. All settings are default and there have been no modifications, here is my computer information.
Dell Latitude D620 Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHz 2GB RAM
256MB Video Memory (nVIDIA Quadro 110) Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 .....
Quick question here - just installed 2x2gb and BIOS happily tells me that "Due to the amount of memory being assigned for system use, memory available is less than memory installed".
Which works out to Task Manager reporting only 3.3GB (Vista 64).
From what i remember, it means that d620's BIOS can't map devices above 4gb? I tried to find this option in the BIOS but couldn't. Maybe i missed something? I'm kinda disappointed since d620 is supposed to be more or less serious laptop.
I have a 3+ yr old D620 that I have been really happy with. It is starting to show its wear and tear a bit,
I have lugged this thing everywhere on a daily basis. So, looking at the current Dell lineup, there doesn't seem to be anything that strikes me as a similar model.
Here is what I particularly like about it - and what I'd require in a new one:
1) Pretty durable solid build, including the way the screen locks pretty much in place - i.e. doesn't feel flimsy.
I was given a dell d620 with a broken screen. Looked like it was cracked down the middle. I replaced the screen (not the lid or hinges). It makes a clicking/cracking type noise when I open the lid. No visible cracks. Now, sometimes when it boots, i get vertical lines and sometimes dollar signs before Windows boots. Windows DOES boot fine with no lines whatsoever. I have researched and found the symptoms are the same for a bad vid card. (I know this has Integrated graphics). If my card was bad, would Windows still boot and look normal? Why would it only affect the boot screen?
Trying to run a D620 with a new harddrive, a 320 GB WD3200BEVT.
The 620 will say "a read error occurred, press Ctrl alt del to reboot" directly after post. I doesn't not attempt to load an OS.
In the BIOS:I made sure that the harddrive password protection thing is all off In the device list the 320 GB drive appears, so it's not a mechanical problem
Question, I have both a Latitdue D620 which I upgraded the RAM to 4G and the Hard drive to 320G. But I also have an Inspiron E1505 with 2g of RAM.
I want to give one of my laptops to my father because he doesn't have money to purchase a new one. Which one should I give to him? I really like both laptops. please give me your honest opinion.
First want to say hi since this is my first post here, been a Thinkpad user for years(a regular member on thinkpad forums) but it died last week so I picked up a very nice D620 last night. So from now on you'll be seeing a lot of me here I got a great deal on a D620 w/2Ghz Intel Core Duo & 2gb of DDR2 ram,
it's coming with XP Pro but I've been running Windows 7 here on my Dell Desktop since around February(RC/beta version then bought Ultimate version when it was released) and I have to say I like it a lot and would love to install it on the D620 when it comes,
has anyone here installed Windows 7 on their D620 and if so and have any driver problems or issues of any kind?? Thanks in advance and sure nice to be here...
I have a Dell Latitude D620 and I replaced the battery about a year ago. Now the Power Meter reads that the battery is connected and is charging but if I unplug the power,
the laptop immediately shuts off. It seems like the connection may not be good, but I have checked it several times and it looks fine.
A user of mine reported a problem with her screen being black. You can actually see the windows logon prompt but its really dark.
I set her up on a port replicator with an external monitor, which displays fine. So is it the display on the laptop monitor thats causing the problem? Its a Dell Latitude D620 noteboob
I picked up a dell D620 notebook second hand. I did a fresh install of the OS, installed and updated all drivers. I noticed there was some pixels that were going crazy.
There would be a line across the start bar, and a block of miscolored pixels on the bootup screen. If I booted into safe mode, they would not be there. Also, when the notebook is hooked to an external display, they will show on the laptop, but not on the external LCD
My laptop (Latitude D620) is driving me..How do I turn off the touchpad and disable the top row (between touchpad and spacebar) of mouse buttons? When ever I'm in Word, or composing an email, the cursor moves up into previously typed text and starts typing from there instead of where I was at. I suspect it is the touchpad or the 'mouse' buttons between the touchpad and the space bar. On a ThinkPad there was way to turn off the touchpad, but still leave the joystick/pointer enabled. But I need to also disable the top row of mouse buttons.
In other words what I want is a set up where the joystick/pointer works and the bottom row (below the touchpad) of mouse buttons works, but not the touch pad itself, or the top row of buttons. It sounds funny, but it has become a severe productivity issue. The cursor jumping has happened 7 times just in this one email !!
