Dell Studio 1558 :: Missing Drivers / Unable To Install
Jan 22, 2015
I Â recently had to replace the hard drive on my Studio 1558 laptop and reinstalled the operating system using the disk that came with it. All went well until I had to reinstall the device drivers to get my device to access the internet via wifi. So far, I can't seem to get the driver for the device that allows my laptop to see any wireless connections and have to plug in a network cable to go on the internet. how I can get the right device drivers other than using the device driver disk?
i have dell studio 1558 system.i have replaced dvd drive in warranty period. i wanted to upgrade dvd drive firmware because i am unable to read some dvd's. the problem is that, on dell website after putting service tag number for drivers, list shows dvd drive firmware for old dvd drive i.e tsst firmware.
my current dvd drive is MODEL NAME: HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GA31NVERSION: A200OEM CODE: 10/
I had recently performed a clean install on my notebook PC and when I rebooted it, the drivers for the PCI device and the SM BUS Controller were missing. When I go to Device Manager and try to reinstall them or check for hardware changes, my computer is unable to install them. I was also missing my Ethernet and Wireless network drivers but I installed the appropriate drivers via the HP support website. However, I am still missing these two drivers. I have already tried to install the AMD chipset on my laptop but that just creates more problems because after the program asks me to reboot the computer it stays stuck at the Windows loading screen (rotating colours around the Windows logo).
i installed a fresh copy of windows 7 32 bit on my machine and on dells website the drivers are on ly offered in 64 bit, most of them do not wrk on this os.
I just got my Seagate Momentus 7200.3 320GB hard drive today. I don't have any external cases I could use to do a backup image and I wanted to do a clean install anyway since I haven't done one to this system since I bought it.
I've tried using Dell's driver disc that came with the system but it's out of date.
The Web site has been a mess as well. Selecting through the service tag Dell is offering drivers for hardware that was never part of this machine and hardware that is apart of it isn't listed unless I look at all D630 drivers.
I have a Studio 1558 laptop, originally with Windows 7 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro. Â I have just installed a larger HD (1TB) to replace the 500GB which I thought might have been on its way out as it occasionally started clicking. Â I have also taken the opportunity for a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro. Â But the Device Manager does not show any Bluetooth devices even though the Bluetooth mouse works! Â However I cannot find any links in Devices & Printers to allow me to change the mouse wheel action or the Synaptics touch pad action. Â
Going back to the 500GB HD gives me all this functionality so the hardware is all ok. Â The BIOS settings still have Bluetooth enabled. Â I have updated Windows updates, and used Slimdrivers to update all the drivers.
I don't have the ssd msata option in the laptop I just purchased from Newegg so I decided to buy a samsung 840 250g ssd and do a clean install of win 7.Updated ssd to latest firmware, disabled secure boot in bios, sata was already set to ACHI, installed ssd and started loading win 7. It would get to the point that the tiles are floating around and it says "starting windows" and then locks up. Tried this several times and same thing.
Finally tried changing boot mode from eufi to legacy it works fine. I got win 7 installed. Now if I try to go back to eufi boot mode it just goes to a black screen (on start up) and displays detecting media (or something like that). So I guess my question is:
1. Why did I have to switch to legacy mode to begin with
2. Does leaving it in legacy boot mode affect performance?
One last thing, since installing win 7 I have been unable to install the nvidia drivers downloaded from dell for win 7. It either starts and immediately fails or it installs a little then I get a blue screen and the computer reboots.
I have a HP EliteBook 8460p. Replaced the faulty hard drive with a new Hard drive which was sent by HP. Tried to do a new, clean install of Windows 7 Pro but I keep getting an error that says "a required cd/dvd device driver is missing".  I have read some HP support forum where i need to download Storage Controller Driver [URL] ...  I'm unable to find the Storage Controller Driver, link to download [URL] ....
I recently purchased this laptop and I have no alternate nvidia drivers, when installing i get the error message no compatible hardware found. I have already tried adding my device to the .inf list with no success, i might be doing it wrong?Â
Both intel HD 3000 and nvidia GT 625M drivers are listed on my product driver page but i do not know if I'm limited to what comes pre installed.
I have recently purchased HP 15-d009TU Notebook PC. It came with DOS installed. I have installed Windows 7 64 bit OS. I have downloaded the drivers listed in Drivers & Download section in HP.com but most of these drivers (Intel chipset driver, Graphics driver, Audio driver, etc.) do not work. While trying to install, most of them says that it does not meet minimum system requirements although all the system requirements mentioned in the requirements list are present. Â Now, I am unable to use even the USB ports in my laptop.
I'm not able to install the latest graphics driver from nvidia. It installs the latest GeForce Experience software but that says the 332.50 driver is up to date. The 337.88 driver is WHQL certified and lists compatibility with the 860m but when trying to install it, it says "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware." On nvidia's website, it says "Your product manufacturer requires you to download a driver for your device from their website" but it's 332.50 is pretty outdated at this point. Any way I can get the updated drivers installed?
Model: HP Probook 4530s OS: Windows 7  I have both Intel and ATI switchable graphics in my laptop. I recently reinstalled Windows & If I try to install the ATI drivers from the drivers CD or from the HP website, the laptop hangs on the Windows logo after a restart and I have to do a system restore to fix it. If I try to install just the Intel driver it just gives me an error that says "This computer does not meet the minimum requirement to install the software".  I am unable to change the brightness and the resolution is bad. In Device manager both the options under display adapter say "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter", with a yellow error sign over one of them. I am worried if the graphics card is damaged from over heating. Is it possible to disable one of the cards to check functionality of the other?
I have HP n278tx laptop and recently I installed Windows 8.1 OS and now I can't Hibernate and Sleep my lap. When I do that it get stuck. And also I can't install chipset drivers provided by HP for Win 8.1 Pro. I can't install these 2 drivers.
i installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my HP Pavilion G6-2005ax after formatting. I downloaded and installed all of my drivers from here . But 'Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter ' and 'Ralink 802.11 b/g/n Wireless LAN Adapter Driver ' fails to install. There is yellow symbol on 'Network controllers' in Device manager. I could successfully install the Bluetooth driver but i cant search any device, neither it gets discovered.
I had to re-install Windows after a hacker locked my system. I hadn't had the unit long, so didn't lose tons of  important data or files. But, I hadn't had time to really get to know my system either....so now I have the new issue of trying to determine what all the hardware is that is not recognized.  I thought I would come to hp.com, find my drivers, download and be DONE.  (HP ProBook 4440S running WIndows Home Premium, 34 Bit)    I have yellow exclamation marks on the following devices in Device Manager:  1.  Base System Device 2.  Base System Device 3.  Ethernet Controller 4> Network Controller 5.  PCI Simple Com Device 6.  USB Controller 7.  Unknown Device  If there weren't SO MANY drivers, this could be simple! Â
If kindly help a brother out. I just bought a Studio 1537 for my lady and i was unable to install windows 7 64 bit RC. It's saying
"the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (bit) or x64 (bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
I recently installed windows 8.1. But i dont find drivers for bluetooth at in the list of drivers available at website.  This is the link of all available drivers  [URL]...
My audio on the bottom right icon tray comes as a cross and it when ever I boot up. If I troubleshoot it says install the IDT audio driver and it will solve it. An yes the cross goes away but come back with the next boot of Windows
While I would love to be able to go with the Studio XPS 16 (16470) it is just out of my price range. Here is what I'm trying to decide to pull the trigger on:

I will have to try to call them and order rather than order via the website directly as I want the Windows 7 Home Premium install and all the accompanying software to be in English (I live in Italy and that's the reason for the italian info in the configurations).
Opinions are greatly appreciated. I have read about the throttling issues associated with the i5s and i7s and I should not fall into those areas as I am not a gamer. What are everyone's thoughts? Go ahead and pull the trigger?
I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their Studio 1558 orders? I ordered on 23/02 and the EDD was 09/03, but it's now been put back to the 01/04!
The only custom components I requested were the FullHD WLED screen and the backlit keyboard. I have to say I'm not very impressed!
Just received my Studio 15 today and it's a nice looking machine but the fan seems to run more often than I'd like. I've updated the BIOS to A03, the most current, but it doesn't seem to resolve the issue.
I got a new Dell Studio 1558 a week or so back. Ever since I got it, I feel a constant vibration to the left of the touchpad.
After doing some research and asking some questions, apparently the Seagate 7200 RPMs have this issue. I confirmed it was the HD by putting the HD to sleep and the vibration would stop.
The best solution to me seems to replace the Seagate with a WD 5400 RPM HD. I have been looking at their Scorpio Blue for this: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...4&sku=A2436199
Will it work with the 1558? And, how do I go about setting up the laptop after replacing the HD?
I don't have any important documents that need to be transferred, but I am guessing I will have to use the Dell DVDs to setup Windows?
