Is there any way to preserve finish of the Sony Vaio FW, particularly on the mouse buttons and where the palm-rest is, I hear the silver stippled paint finish wears away leaving bare white plastic underneath.
Is there a skin or plastic screen cover that you guys use or recommend to prevent this or hide defects?
I recently picked up this bad boy for just $744 (after 12.3% bing cashback (Google it if you don't know what it is)).
Has anyone heard any other issues with this laptop?
It has the 1600x900 screen which I've heard some criticism of (I heard something about it having a one-lamp "eco" screen) but I don't know if that applies to the model I bought or how good the eco screen is.
If I can get a skin that is precut for that laptop's dimensions in particular (nothing fancy, just black would be good), that would be awesome.
I'm considering this skin, but it's not precut, and I don't know how good it is...
Is anyone here familiar with the "finish" option on the Studio? I was told over the phone that if I get black or white, it will come in a glossy finish, and if I get one of the colors, it will come in a textured matte finish. I prefer the matte finish, because glossy plastic finishes are a big problem---my palms stick to the plastic.
Seems that if it was it would be easy to fabricate a replacement piece with holds/vents for DIY or to have Dell swap in a new vent friendly design. I haven't got my xps 16 yet- Is the consensus that with undervolting and a pad its fine?
I'm about to purchase a Vaio Z (sweeet!), with a config from the Sony website. They advertise the extended battery, but is that the VGP-BPL11 / S11 or X11?
here are the batteries.
I would think it's the middle ground battery, the X11 being some kind of special James Bond-type add on, but I'd like a confirmation if anyone is able to provide. I tried to contact their support but it's just not getting through.
Furthermore, are these all compatible with the VGPCKZ2.AE case? Looks perfect for my needs.
I have a N5110, with OEM Windows 7, recently I buy Windows 8 Pro, but I cant Upgrade or Fresh install on my laptop, the installation does not complete or finish, after several restart Windows 8 bootscreen with new logo shown, but never finish, finally after 4 hours I force shutdown the system, when I restart, the system tell, installation not finished, NO ERROR message shown and automatically rollback to Windows7.
Dell is finally starting to help me out as far as the screen glossiness and some other issues I've been having.
Before I tell them what parts I need in a replacement, I need to know if the M6400 RGBLED screen (not the Covet) is matte finish?
I'd really appreciate it - I can't trust their sales staff to actually know. My gut instinct would be that the E2E RGBLED screen is glossy, while the other is matte... but I don't want to replace my glossy with another glossy!
I did a factory reset on my Dell inspirion m5010. Now it won't finish reinstalling, a pop up comes that says. Windows couldn't configure one or more system components. To restart and then reinstall. Then it restarts. How to get my computer back running.
I was curious about the durability of the HP imprint finish. I did a search and didn't run across anything.
Anyway, I recently ordered an HP HDX16t (which shipped today!). This is my first HP computer. I'm concerned with the high gloss case scratching over time. The last laptop I had was an ASUS G1S which was also glossy. Even with my constant attention, and careful placement into a neoprene sleeve every time it was not in use, still became scratched and looked very dull in the 2 years of it's service.
from most reviews you see people complaining that it's the worst trackpad they've ever used, but then there are some people who get used to how it works and find it not so bothersome... after owning my dm3 for 2 weeks, i realized that i naturally learned how to "glide" over the trackpad instead of pressing against it (like you would with a normal trackpad). when i've kept his in mind, navigating around windows becomes much easier for me.
I just bought HP655,fresh Win7,everything installed ,but the WiFI drivers make me crazy.Installation starts but cannot finish. The window just disappears. In Device manager Network controller in yellow.I tried both sp56889.exe and sp56942.exe
My computer was being used by my girlfriend to watch some show. During her use, my computer "freaked up" and she had to manually shut it down. Now whenever I turn on my computer, it goes to my normal log-in page but instead of my password boz coming up, a gray window comes up. It reads:
"Start Up Repair. Windows cannot repair this computer automatically. If you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart your computer. If you continue to see this message, contact you system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance, Click Finish to exit and shut down your computer.
View diagnostic and repair detailsView advanced options for system recovery and support."I've done all that I know how to do, and I still cannot get this to go away.
obviously uninstalled the old ones (removed from control panel, then safemode and use the guru drive cleaner to clean up any left overs)
when i install the drivers it takes about 5 minutes which is the strange thing i noticed, normally takes a minute or 2 at most
after installation i reboot and find that in device manager the yellow exclamation mark icon next to the vga device, when i try and point it to install from the folder itself it takes about 10 minutes then tells me its failed.
I was recently given a Latitude E6530 and I wish to upgrade the standard keyboard to a backlit one after coming from a MacBook Air. I was wondering, does E6530 (or it's similar models) requires an additional cable to power the backlight or does it just feed off the single cable? I've scoured YouTube and Google to try find out if an extra cable is required for this model however wasn't able to.
So Im getting ready to buy an intel X25-M SSD drive, but I was on the phone with sony support about my VGN-Z26GN (last year model Z not current one)
Which has a normal HDD drive, and I asked him if I can install a 2.5" SSD drive. He said it wouldnt fit.. I was thinkin ? Ain't it the same size? He said nah it wouldnt fit and even if you did put it in, you'd have to recode the motherboard or something...
I'm almost certain I have read people on this forum replacing their HDD's in the Vaio Z with SSD's.....
