View 3 RepliesBefore posting here I tried my best to search the forum posts to find my answer but there was lots of post in the search that I got confused.
I only need is the latest drivers list for dell xps 1645 as I am going for the fresh installation of Win 7. Including every single driver I need..
I get a free copy of Windows 7 Enterprise from my school. My question is, if I order a SXPS with Win 7 Home Premium, reformat the hard drive, do a clean install of Win 7 Enterprise, can I reinstally of the the Dell and third party software that came with the system, such as the Blu-Ray software player? Is there any disdavatage to doing a clean install?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI bought my laptop Dell XPS M1330 in September 2009... I have not had problems with this until now. Three days ago I turned on my laptop in order to read a pdf file , but I noticed the my file went constantly down and therefore, I was not able to read it... It seemed like the "arrow pointed down key" was permanently pushed down! So I reboot my lap but I had the same problem. The next day, again, I turned on my lap and at that time the cursor was moving constantly to the left like the "arrow pointed left key" was pushed down!
I tried with Dell diagnostics and this showed me the next errors:
-ERROR CODE 3600:0853 PRIMARY_BATTERY_BAY The battery can not provide sufficient power.
-ERROR CODE 2C00:0423 KEYBOARD-Stuck key detected
When I was testing the keys (of the keyboard) this showed me:
Expected: e048 Read: e050....Expected: (something) Read e050.... And so on
Should I have to replace my battery and my keyboard???
I want to get the Z, but sony doesn't provide the vista dvd, so i need to use the recovery partition.
however, i want to use my own hard drive, so is there a way to "recover" the partition onto my other hard drive
Does anybody know, if the Latitude E-Series or -dockings provide "power over eSATA" ?
Dell-support says "no" - but the combined usb/esata-plug on the left side should deliver high power, they say.
Maybe it is possible to connect a external eSATA HDD or device without external AC, even if the plug is not official "power over eSATA"-standard.
can i make the partition for hard disk without formatting the disk . Laptop model is dell Inspiron N5110.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just borrowed my laptop to a friend and he said when he tried to boot it up he go this message.
The message I get when restarting is non-system disk or disk error, press a key to continue over and over.
When I click f10 before boot up there is a harddisk test option, where it says Hard Disk test failed, no disk installed.
So is it either the harddisk or the motherboard thats a problem? AFAIK nothing new was installed leading up to this. The computer is no longer under warranty.
I just bought the Probook 4710s 5 days ago, and some times when I try to start the computer, it just wrights on the screen Non system disk or disk error, please replace and press any key... I don't have any CD or DVD in CD/DVD unit or any USB keys... when I try to scan the hard disk it reports to me No hard disk found. Every now and than it starts Windows normaly, but it keeps repeating frequently the same boot problem and not beeing able to start my comp.
Does it mean that the hard disk is bad or broken, or it will be soon...or what? Should I return the laptop and ask for replacement?
i have a hp 620 notebook, and it is given me an error message "non-system disk or disk error" after i turned it on. it had worked find in the morning and now it is displaying this error message and i cannot log into my notebook. i tried to recover it with hp recovery but it said "data is not valid.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am so tired of receiving Low Disk Space on recovery (D). I have done everything it asked. Empty Recycle Bin which is EMPTY. I am not a computer wizard but it seems unfair that I have pay over $150.00 year to correct this problem once a year. I have checked a lot of places and it just keeps telling me the same thing. That doesn't work.
I did just install a HP wireless printer 3052A
HP Pavilion dv6000
Windows Vista (home version)
I'm upgrading my laptop's hard drive soon to a Western Digital WD5000BEVT and I plan to do a clean install of vista after the hard drive swap. I know the procedure to install media direct first and everything. My question is regarding the dell vista disk. Is it free of bloatware? Once installed will I have a clean system? Or will I have to go back again and uninstall loads of crap.
I have that hard drive in my ps3 and love it. Fast, cool and quiet.
I did some searching, but couldn't find anything directly related to this problem.
Basically -- salesmen sold me on the the "this dell has a blu-ray in it", and i'd recently upgraded to an HDMI setup for my home theater, so i though -- why the hell not.
I've never had blu-ray before, so i only have one disk - Wall-E -, and well, it won't play.
As far as i can tell -- my dell has no idea that i've just fed it a blu-ray.
What' the deuce? Does this peice of need to go back?
I just checked out Dells web site for the Studio 17 and on the menu you can select 1 500G drive or 2 320G drives.
Does the Studio 17 have slots for two drives ??
If not, does the second drive just come in an extra box ??
What manufacture drives does Dell use these days ?
i have a inspiron e1705. i dont not have many big programs. some of them include Age of Empires III and an expansion pack, itunes, garmin software for my gps, java, office (excel, powerpoint and word), firefox and ie,
wd anywhere backup, avast! anti-virus, mp3 rocket, apple qucktime, spy-bot, etc.. i am pretty sure that these are all up-to-date. i have sp 2 installed... (is there a third one?).
i also have many pictures and videos (17.3 gb for pictures, 47.4 gb for music, and 8.6gb for videos). i do not have too many documents.
i have also just recently formatted my computer. any ideas as to why it is so full, and how i can create more room? do i just have to delete some things?
I just got a new XPS 1530 with Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I'm told, before I do anything, I should make a Recovery Disk. How do you do that?
I think the recovery disk is used in case everything crashes.
It's different from a Boot disk (which isn't needed anymore, since you can use the OS installation disk to start Vista if needed).
Also, I'm not talking about System Restore, which reloads your system from a time before your last SW install.
when i start my laptop i straight to media direct and it show me can't detect hard drive.
when i try to reformat, it can format it, but when i install windows. it say, some drive meet criteria can't finish installation. @@
after that i try delete my partition c:. when i recreate. it can't
after restart 1 times. and it can create partition. but it can't install windows also.
I was reformatting my iPod the other day and I left the house to go run some errands and when I got back I was greeted with the BSOD. So I just restarted my computer like always when suddenly I was greeted with this:
PBR 2... done
A disk read error has occurred
Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart
So I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Del and got the same message. About 5 times later I was able to run some sort of diagnostics and it was showing something with my HDD. So I tore my computer apart and put everything back in just to see if that would work and I'm still getting the same.
Am I just screwed out of my 20GB of music and all those programs that I had on my computer or is there some sort of fix to be able to recover the data? And will I just have to cave and get a new HDD?
I am trying to create a bootable CD or bootable USB flash drive from which to run a Dell bios update.
It seems I keep getting close but then something fails.
For example, I followed these instructions but after a few seconds the Windows 98 splash screen stops moving and nothing happens.
I've tried FreeDos on a usb flash drive, but I get "Bad or missing command interpreter". I tried one suggestion from the FreeDos site but nothing changed.
I need the boot disk to downgrade from bios A12 to A09 to hopefully solve my battery charging problems. This is a known fix.
EDIT: The battery level is too low, and the bios update won't work unless the battery is at least 10% charged. Running the bios update from a boot disk with the /forceit command line argument is supposed to get around this
I bought four Dell Inspiron 15 this black Friday from the Microsoft Store. All four of those have the exact same problem of 100% disk usage at the start up right out of the box. I don't want to return as I am a lifelong dell user. But If there is no solution of this problem then why the <profanity> dell sold these laptops?
Here is what I have done to try and fix this problem: Used windows repair tools to check all hardware. All hardware came back okay/// Ran chkdsk /f on the drive //// Disabled windows indexing //// Turned power management to Maximum performance //// Downloaded and used the Dell tools to update all drivers //// Checked programs and removed all unnecessary programs //// Used MSCONFIG to remove certain programs from the startup and from running in the background //// Tried Microsoft Fix It to improve performance //// Nothing works.
I am planning to buy New Dell Inspiron 15 series 7000. I would want to replace the harddisk with SSD by next year or so. But i wanted to know if i can have SSD along with hard disk in this laptop.
I wanted both good performance along with large storage. So i was wondering if i can have two disks at once.
I have a new XPS 15 laptop and the card reader is not recognizing the pictures on the card. I did get it to read it last night but today it will not read.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need help deciding which HD drives to order on my new m1730.
7,200 200 gB vs 5,400 320 gB drives?
I have seen the thread on 7,200 vs 5,400 HD drives already. Does anyone know which brands/models Dell is shipping with new m1730's?
According to a sales rep who checked with technical support Dell is not using the Samsung spinpoint 320 gB hard disk drive.
I have extended warranty so I called XPS support to replace it and they said no problem, but they would need the part number shipped w/ the XPS M1530 system.
If anyone has the part number from the bottom the the Dell Reinstall disk, or better yet, an SP2 disk, though I doubt they are shipping yet, I could sure use it. You can PM me or post it here..
I want to get it replaced b4 it goes out of warranty as I deleted my recovery partition...
none of my game discs or dvds or cds fit inside my laptops tray... the ball inside is too big to fit inside the hole on the dvd
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy new Studio XPS 13 hard disk often emits a beeping noise when it is being accessed. Is this normal behaviour and can I turn it off?
I noticed the beeping from the first time I turned it on. The beeping only occurs once Vista is booted (i.e. not while booting up), and when performing tasks like copying files or running a virus scan.
I just got my e6400 today, but the hard disk noise is kind of annoying. Even if I do nothing with the OS,
the hard disk light keeps shining and the noise comes along.
Though the sound is little, but it seems to never stop. Is anyone else meets with the same problem like me?
I have a Dell Mini 9, and it is steadily and repeatedly losing what little disk space I have. I ran AVG and panda security and got nothing.
I've done disk cleanup and cleared the history, cache, cookies, and restore points. It's STILL losing space. It'll go up when I restart but then immediately start dropping.
There are no games or music or movies on this thing. I even took all my text files out. The only programs that were added after I got it were office, firefox, and avg.
I just got a new Dell XPS m1530:
2.5 Ghz
4 Gb RAM
300 Gb HDD
Geforce 8600
Vista Premium
I noticed that I can hear the hard drive spinning (like that little clicking sound it makes) almost like 70% of the time. Is that normal? I tried killing off some applications but it doesn't stop! Is there any way to find which application is doing this, is this even normal?
Could anyone recommend a replacement hard disk for a Dell Inspiron 700m laptop. I am running Windows XP Pro SP3.
I would prefer a larger size disk greater than 250GB. I did search the forums and I found very little info for the 700m hard disk problem I have.
