View 5 RepliesI am planning to get a DEll E4200 and may I know what kind of 128GB SSD interface it is using within this laptop
View 5 RepliesDoes anybody have any info on these? I looked around, but couldn't really find any.
I'm wondering if they studder at all, and just general impressions from anyone who has the one that ships from Dell.
I'm getting the feeling mine is underperforming.
Here's mine:
Does anybody have HD Tune or HD Tach benchmark for 1.8" 128GB SSD that comes in E4200 ?
I originally ordered refurbished E4200 with 64 GB SSD because I read it has better performance compared to 128GB model, but canceled the order because I realiezed 4 cell battery might be too small and the one I ordered does not come with fingerprint reader and bluetooth.
I ordered another one with 128GB SSD, fingerprint reader, 6 cell battery and bluetooth for just $40 more. (at cost of a little slower processor and no DVD-RW and latitude on capability )
I found HD Tune bechmark result for 64GB SSD, but I don't see benchmark for 128GB model.
I will be great if someone with 128GB SSD post HD Tune benchmark or at least post its modem number so I can read specifications.
R173J Module,Solid State Drive,128G S2,Thin Micro Sata,Samsung,XLO
This is what it says on my order, which is not very helpful in figure out what this SSD really is, other than its samsung model.
I finally got around to benchmarking this thing... As this is my first SSD I really didn't know what to expect, or if it is that great in comparison to others. Anyways.
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow does the dells (samsung right?) 128gb ssd which they put in the studio xps 13/16 compare to 7200rpm drives like the WD ones. is a little/lot quicker?
the drive dell use is the old 90mb read/70mb write ones i think,
Does anyone know the part number/manufacturer for the XPS 16's 128gb SSD. I just bought the 1645 with it and would like more info when I present the computer as a gift for xmas.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAny firmware out for this yet? Or does anyone know of a workaround with another existing firmware?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought a E4200. within a day i have used up the 64 Gb Hard Drive, is there any where i can find a compatible Hard drive for it other that the 128gb HDD.
if not, does anyone know where i can get the 128 GB hard drive from ?
I am trying to decide between the following 2 Z's which are approx. the same price.
Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz / 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD / DVD±R/RW / Hybrid Graphics / 802.11AGN / WWAN / Bluetooth / GPS / Webcam / Windows 7 Professional [ SON VGNZ880GB ]
Intel Core 2 Duo P8800 2.66GHz / 4GB RAM / 500GB HD / DVD±R/RW / Hybrid Graphics / 802.11AGN / WWAN / Bluetooth / GPS / Webcam / Windows 7 Professional [ SON VGNZ850GB ]
I do everyday tasks like MS office,MS Streets, and use approx. 10GB for my multimedia files.
My first question is, will I notice the difference in speed? Will be the SSD with P8700 faster than the HDD 5400 RPM with P8800 in terms of boot,read-write documents etc?
If I go with the 128 GB SSD, how much free space can I expect to have on the drive after W7 ?
I might need to put a new hard drive in my daughter's 3 year old E1505. Would it be an SATA drive?
View 5 Replies View Relatedapple didnt release drivers which support gpu switching in it's new version for windows. basically, the drivers used in your dell is the same as that which will be used by my mac because our boards are the same(mcp79).
for the gpu driver, i'm currently downloading 179.82, A06 from dell.com and then i'll paste a modded inf so that my 9600m gt is also detected ....
which drive is the better choice between the 128GB SSD (MLC) vs 320GB 7200rpm options currenlty on the Z690.
I've heard the MLC SSD's are fast in certain areas, but arent always the best options vs the 7200rpm drives yet... and have some issues with multi-tasking, etc. So basically, my question is how is the 128GB Samsung MLC rated vs the 7200rpm drives Sony uses?
I know Raid 0 is not very reliable, but can it be so unreliable that it dies after sitting shut for a day.
The laptop battery had 90% charge.
This was my third boot which I made to create a backup disk. I turned it on last yesterday and when I turned it on again today this is what I see.
1 .So I am left without recovery disks what to do?
2. Can we change the SSD's to Intel?
3. I tried a JBOD and tried installing Vista 64bit and it worked although I did not go
ahead with the setup.
4. Are Jbod drives slower than RAID 0? If so by how much.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 1501 - it's old but it woks great.. I tried updating the BIOS following the instructions on the Dell site. I repeatedly get the Winphlash User Interface has stopped working. What is the proper technique to do this BIOS update without errors? I don't get any instructions on line - only a DOS type window then it disappears.
Also on the Dell site re Drivers, It finds my Service Tag and then I get the message that my operating system Windows Vista Home Basic is not available on the machine --but it was bought from DELL with this OS?
I have just reinstalled windows XP on a acer travelmate 4280 notebook and loaded all the drivers but still have 3 data interface devices still in the device manager and can't find any drivers for them.

i just got an nc2400, seems to be a pretty great machine maybe greater with some optimizations
-overclocking. it seems very quiet and cool, has anyone overclocked with success?
-hdd in optical bay caddy, i want to know more about this. mainly, is the optical drive SATA, or would it basically be the same PATA interface as the old HDD?
im thinking the best thing for this laptop is either a PCMCIA SSD or PCMCIA to SATA for an at least normal hard drive speed.
unless mini pcie is the way to go? if anyone else has tried and succeeded at addressing the problem of slow hdd interface, id like to know your experience. i tried the intel 5100 mini card in the slot, said incompatible wifi device remove and restart at the bios. i guess this could be a general thing, with chipsets or something.
When I place my LCD into tablet mode, sometimes my mouse wanders slowly on the screen and the touch interface seems to be disabled. Â After some trial and error I found that the culprit is that my TrackPoint is gently rubbing against the backside of the LCD. I found that I could make the mouse cursor move rapidly back and forth on the screen just by gently putting pressure on sides of the LCD when the laptop in tablet mode. I own two x220t devices, and this happens on both of them. My TrackPoint touch sensitivity is set 2 ticks to the left of the most sensitive setting.
Â
I remember reading somewhere that the TrackPad is disabled when the laptop detects that the LCD is swiveled into tablet mode, so that it doesn't accidentally move the mouse. Â Could the TrackPoint be similarly disabled so that it doesn't generate these phantom mouse movements?
I just did a fresh install of Windows 8 on my Lenovo G475 and everything works fine but my wifi connection. This is what I have done so far: I...
- Installed Windows 8 and kept the laptop connected to the Internet via the ethernet card (to make sure all the installation process went smoothly).
- Updated Windows 8 via Windows Update.
- Downloaded missing drivers for Windows 8. They were: Realtek Card Reader Driver, Lenovo Energy Management and Wireless LAN driver.
- Installed all of them with administrator privileges and all of them went fine but the wireless LAN driver.
- At this point, Device Manager didn't show any device with a "?" so I assumed everything was fine.
- But no, because no wifi interface showed up in the device manager window.
- If i change the position of the wireless physical switch (at the front of my laptop, on my left), the bluetooth device goes off and on in the device manager window. But in no case, any wifi interface appeared / dissappeared.
- I also typed fn+f5 several times to toggle airplane on/off but did not work at all.
- Then I installed Windows 7 driver for the wireless card but didn't work either.
- I revised the BIOS and the wifi interface is activated.
Â
It looks like the wifi component of the wireless card is hidden/undetected to Windows 8 (bluetooth works fine. I assume both wifi+bluetooth belongs to the same card).
I'm interested in thickness of HDD in E130. I read that in E125 was 7 mm HDD and there is troubles with 9 mm. So, is  E130 similar to E125(E130 is next-gen of this type netbooks, but there is huge posibility that Lenovo Engineers decided not to change HDD type)? Or 9 mm hard drive will work?

Installing msata breaks warranty agreement, doesn't it? amout msata SSD(i've read about installing SSD in other Thinkpad notebooks), but I need some proves for Edge E130:
1)Speed is limited by SATAII interface?
2)mSata drive as bootable device will work?
Last questions are not such important, but i'll happy, if Edge E130/E135 users will share their experience
I am looking at buying the Z690/790 with the SSD RAID configuration and was looking for more information on the size and interfaces of the SSDs used in RAID configuration.
a. Are they 2.5" inch drives or 1.8" inch drives?
b. Do they have SATA interface or some other interface
yesterday I had a problem with my HP Envy 15t-j100 suddenly it became deadly slow!! a similar behavior after I reinstall windows 8.1 and in that time installing the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver located in the drivers list for my laptop [URL].
Yesterday I reinstalled the driver again and that solve the problem, I was wondering is there is an update for this driver anywhere? I tried with HP Support Assistant and with Intel Driver Utility [URL]no luck so far.
I have a HP 2000-2b19wm laptop. I bought this system. It came with Windows 8. After I got it I completely got rid of Windows 8 and IMHO upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate. I deleted all partitions and let 7 configure the hard drive the way it wanted, got the drivers and so on and so forth. (not worried about warrenty, I can handel most hardware repairs and software fixes).

I looked to see if there was a new BIOS available and there was, However I also noticed that there are two things called HP UEFI Support Environment and HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support Environment. I know they have to do with Diagnostics and recovering from a bad BIOS flash.Do I install HP UEFI Support Environment or HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support Environment?
Is the hard drive interface SATA or SATA II?
