find this software? I've reinstalled the OS and this software is the only thing I miss, on Dell website there's only the webcam driver but not the software, and also on the CD there isnt
Did they stop putting in the facial recognition software in with the notebooks? I know it was listed when I ordered mine. I have search all over the hard drive and haven't found any software to use this feature.
I have a studio 1747 core i7 quad, just got it a few days ago.
How well does the FastAccess facial recognition program work? Is it a gimmick?
Can I install the software on another Dell laptop with a built-in webcamera or is it somehow linked to one particular laptop?
I am going to order an Inspiron 1545 with the facial recognition, but my Studio 1537 is the laptop I use most frequently. It has a 2MP camera but somehow the FastAccess was not offered as an option. I would like to use the facial recog program on my Studio 1537 instead of the Inspiron 1545.
I've been playing around with this tool and noticed that EVERY TIME I shutdown or reboot, during the webcam initialization on startup I get a message that it is temporarily suspended because I manually did something and to wait 10 seconds. Am I doing something wrong logging off/shutting down?
I wiped my hard drive clean the other day and was able to reinstall everything except the Dell Webcam Central software and the facial recognition one. Does anyone know where these can be found?
I just did a clean Windows 7 install from the CD Dell just sent me. I formatted the Hard Drive before installation to get rid of all Bloatware. I got some minor bugs like the scroll wheel on my mouse is not working,
i am using the microsoft 8000 bluetooth wireless, other than that my cam & facial recognition does not work, i don't see any driver on Dell site for the cam. Everything else seems to work fine for now.
So I had the Upek fingerprint reader on my old M1530 and loved it but the new SXPS 1640 I have only came with the Facial Recognition and it blows. I was thinking about getting a upek usb fingerprint reader and buying the PS software, but I was wondering if it will run fine on my system and whether or not it would be worth it?
It seems like multiple people in the 1640 thread are having this issue and we seem to be unable to figure this out. Would anyone be able to give us guidance to get the facial recognition software onto our computers after a clean install and also the dell webcam software?
I own a studio 15 lap. and i had My Facial Recognation Software wit me. While booting up it first shows initialisng camera failed while on logon and after a minute its getting cleared so that i can login with my face recognition.
In all other condition its working prety well. What shuld be the problem please make me know...
When I bought this xps 16 laptop there was an option appearing always at the time of login called "face recognition". Can somebody plz explain me how to get this back.
ok so my sister bought her dell inspiron 700m back in 2004. i went online to the dell site on her computer to check its default configurations and found that it came with 256 ram, however,
when i check, it seems that the system only recognizes up to 238 ram and 238 is the number that keeps showing up. this is extremely troublesome cause im trying to install ubuntu but many problems keep occurring cause i need 256 ram for it.
is there any way i can get the 700mto recognize the full 256 ram?
also im thinking of upgraded the ram, would this ram be ok? it seems compatible but i want to be sure before i buy it : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820141207
I notice that the FAservice (Fast access) uses more than 1% of the CPU all the time. That is too much for me. Such a service should be near 0% as the welcome page is off.
Do you experience the same thing?
I don't uninstall it at the moment but if I can't find a solution I will do to not short my time on batteries soon.
I have a Dell D630 Latitude laptop that connects to most Wifi Networks, but NOT my home network. In fact, It doesn't even show the network when I pull up area networks. It doesn't show any networks at all. However, when I take it to a Starbucks or McDonalds, I can not only find a network, but I can get on the Internet just fine !Do I have something blocking the network from being seen? Is my virus program Microsoft Essentials blocking the network for some reason?
can anyone post latest version ControlPoint Security Manager for x64 Vista? On DELL Support web site is A07 version (latest avalilable) only to 32-bit OS
When my Dell XPS 12 Ultrabook in in tablet mode and i wake it up, it asks me to press ctrl-alt-del or the Windows Security button. What/Where is the Windows Security Button? without it I have to open it to computer mode, press ctrl-alt-del to sign in and then convert back to tablet.
This is my first laptop with a fingerprint reader. I dont know much about them but would like to start using it. I cant find much documentation about it other than the Embassy Security Center software but there is a lot to that software (at least thats new to me).
Is this what I need to use for using the fingerprint or password for logging on my computer? What all are you people doing with yours?
My old xp laptop had a password for windows log on but that was much simpler to set.
I was trying to update my old studio 1737, and updated the BIOS to A09 while doing an otherwise thorough and effective diagnostic (from Dell website). Now when the BIOS does identify my hard drive its inaccurate (intermittent ID of the HDD, showing no HDD sometime and a Samsung other times). So, laptop fails to boot, saying operating system not found. Am trying to flash BIOS using last working version on USB stick, following advice found on internet. Well out of warranty period.
Im aware that you dont really need any antivirus etc for the MAC (for now anyway!), but how secure is the internet connection? Im new to the MAC and have always used PCs before.
I currently have a Netgear Rangemax router, which has been perfect from day 1. The router is set up with WPA-PSK security, with NAT etc enabled. Its always been fine with my PC.
Nevertheless, I regularly use Internet banking etc - will I still be safe to continue (with the same router etc) when I get my MacBook?
Level of Importance: Urgent Dell highly recommends applying this update as soon as possible. The update contains changes to improve the reliability and availability of your Dell system.

I've been playing around with my M6400 for a few days now and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the USH and ControlPoint?
I'm running Win XP Pro SP3 32bit and removed all the ControlPoint apps when I received my laptop. It's been running fine but I was wondering how and what I could use the USH for?
These may sound stupid but bear with me... 1. Is the USH the wireless card icon on the palm rest? 2. Is that wireless device compatible with any RFID cards or tags? 3. Do I have to use the Dell ControlPoint security manager to use it? 4. Is it worth installing this extraware
I've stayed away from McAfee and Norton for years, so I don't even know what an annual subscription to their virus definitions even costs anymore, BUT Dell's pushing a 1-year subscription McAfee subscription for $79, and 3-years for $99. Comparing the two makes the 3-year subscription look like a pretty good deal. Is it? Cnet seemed to like this latest release, but I don't know how much stock to put in that.
Is $99 for 3 years a good deal, and is McAfee Security Center even any good? Could I get a comparable deal buying/upgrading the subscription after purchasing the computer, or is getting it pre-installed on the Dell pretty much the only way to get it at that price?
I am having a big issue trying to get speech recognition working. When I speak into the microphone, the volume level hardly registers unless I tap on the device. I have Mic Boost turned up to +10db and I don't have any of the effects checked. I also unchecked the "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" radio box for both the Speakers and the Microphone.
I have reinstalled the drivers from Acer's website and then from Realtek's website--neither worked.
I have just bought a Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 with Bulk data encryption. You have some details here: http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/bulk_faqs.htm#a2
My Sony Vaio VGN SZ5MN/B doesn't have the HDD password in bios. It has only the BIOS password.
I've tried to update my laptop bios unsuccessfully, and right now the only solution to use this hdd feature is adding ATA Security eXtension to my BIOS .....
