Dell :: XPS 1530 Graphic Card Extended Warranty
Jan 5, 2009
This has been discussed in a few threads but I cannot find anything on dell website.
I tried the chat and the rep I talked to played dumb with me, saying he never heard of any problem with the graphic cards.
Could you guys tell me how I can figure out if the graphic card does have an extended warranty? Will I get any documentation mentioning it

Just an FYI. I recently bought a Vaio NW from Best Buy using a credit card. I always use my card to pay for day-to-day expenses to collect the miles. I called the card company and they told me that they automatically extend the manufacturer's warranty for an additional year (effectively doubling Sony's) and if the computer is damaged due to mishandling or some other unfortunate incident, they will repair or replace for free. I did not pay any additional money for this.
Now, I don't know how good their repair services will be and I hope to never find out.
But I am glad that I did not spend the large amount to extend the warranty through Sony or Best Buy. Food for thought for you. It may be a good idea for all of you to check with your card company to see if they cover you.

Well after just less then a year of service my M1330 was hit by the nvidia failure. With 17 days to ago on the warranty I guess this is the best time for it to happen if its going to.
A quick call to the XPS service line has a new motherboard on the way to be installed.
This is the point were it gets interesting, I asked about the warranty enhancement from the dell blogs here
and was told that policy states because I am having a replacement in warranty I do not qualify for any warranty extension. I questioned the tech rep on were this policy was coming from, but she didn't really have a good explanation of the policy .....

I was playing CoH, the game froze in the middle of a game. Tried to Ctrl Esc to get to windows, only part of the windows task bar showed up. It just stucked there for 2 minutes, and blue screen cam e up with error msg about nv4_disp.dll. So I was forced to shut down and waited 10 seconds to turn on again.
After turned on, I see some dotted lines all over the screen (even in bios), not so much that i can't see the bios, but it's definitely not usable. It tried to load into windows (with the dotted lines the whole time). The screen went blank after the waiting bar of winxp is finished. Nothing happens, so i am forced to shut down and turn back on again.
This time, i went into the diagnose before the windows load, and found the error 5300:0119 in the video memory. Called dell xps canada, I was told it's memory burne and it's out of warrantee , and it would cost me $650 to get 7900 gtx shipped to me to replace it myself.

I have 3yr extended warranty with accidental damage, onsite next buisness day service including weekends.. I called on Tues Feb 16 to have the motherboard(card reader and head phone jack) dvd drive, and blown speakers fixed. The tech didn't show up till Monday the 22.They didn't send the speakers so the tech called to reorder the speakers and a another item that he noticed. He called back on Weds to tell me that the other items arrived but no speakers. He called Dell back and called me back last night saying Dell wanted to ask me about depot service. I have a newborn so I didn't get a chance to call till today. They said they would resend the speakers that they failed to send 2 times in a row. I'm mad because I paid for next day service and 10 days later it is still not fixed. What should I do?

I was looking up my warranty information from my service tag and it states I have one more year left of complete care. (I purchased 3 year coverage). I saw this thread a while back: http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/d...op-owners.aspx

I know warranty is absolutely vital for notebooks, but is a large manufacturers warranty necessary for a desktop?
Usually the individual parts have their own warranty and you can replace defective and broken parts by yourself with the know-how (unless its a huge issue like a surge, etc) .....

I have 6 days to decide whether to extend the warranty on my Inspiron 9400. The laptop cost me £1200 ($1800) when I bought it. The extention will cost me me £109 / $166.
This will take my warranty from 3 to 5 years NBD onsite response. Anyone think this is a good idea? I am happy with the performance of my laptop.

Last august i purchased a vaio sr from sonystyle with a 3 year express ship extended warranty w/out ADH. I assumed that this warranty would be automatically linked to my laptop serial and i would just be able to call up sony and initiate a repair after the 1 year manufacturers warranty expired. However,
from reading forum posts it seems I was supposed to have received warranty documents and I was supposed to have activated the warranty within a certain time period. However, these documents weren't included with my shipment

Hello, sice the news about faulty 8xxx gpu's I have been hearing that Dell is offering 1 year extended warranty for gpu faults.
Example:
http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/desktop-...ault-39463022/
I have bought M1530 on 28th of April 2008, together with 1 year warranty. It expired on 28th of April 2009, however from what I am reading I qualify for 1 year extra GPU warranty, am I right?
But when I phoned Dell (it was when my AC adapter broke and needed replacement) on each occasion I asked about this extended warranty and they were always telling me that they never heard of it.
Am I being lied to? Or are they right? When I check the servicetag status of my laptop it says that warranty has expired and there is no extra warranty there (if there was it would apply till 29th of April 2010).
Please can someone explain it to me?

When I bought my laptop, I was offered 5 years of Dell Complete Care Accidental Damage Protection even though I only had ONE year limited warranty. This was all over Dell Chat online support.
The representative assured me that I did NOT have to extend my warranty past one year in order to take advantage of five years of accidental care.
In other words, I would have no coverage on manufacturer's defects past the first year, but if I dropped my laptop four years down the road, Dell would replace or repair it.

Just received a Z610y as a college graduation gift, but it was not purchased with an extended warranty. I'm accident-prone, and am interested in a 3 year extended warranty with ADH.
I talked to someone at Sony Style who said I could purchase the warranty up to 30 days from the date of sale. I noticed newegg.com has one for sale, but when I talked to an associate there, they said it was only for sale with the purchase of a new laptop.

Does anyone heard a noice coming from the "circuit board" of graphic card when you are running a game or during the gpu test in 3dmark? The sound like "si si si si" is quite annoying.
I confirmed is not the problem of the fan of gpu and guess the noice is from the circuit board of gpu..

I'm getting a weird white vertical line , about 2 inches thick, all over my display, it doesn't matter if I'm browsing software, or just at boot screen, the line is there.
Weird thing is, it seems to randomly dissappear sometimes, but appears again when trying to shut down the lappy, is the first time this thing happen to my display and I shuted down my lappy, hoping its propably a heat problem.
Here's a pic:

If it can, I can use games that minimum requirements are 256 mb and take the other 128mb from the ram. If it can, will be best to later upgrade to 4 gb of ram?
