View 10 Replies View RelatedWas wondering if any of the programmers out there could crack the M6300 bios so it would blind flash a M1710. I have a video card here from an M6300 and an M1710 that I would be willing to brick and RMA if it doesnt work.

Does anyone know if there is another new version of BIOS coming for the M1530's besides the newest A12 version, I could name multiple things that a newer BIOS update could fix.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just stumbled onto this site and I've been reading posts for hours. I wish I would have found it sooner! I have a M1530, with 3gb ram running Win7 32bit.
So, from what I gather reading that the XPS M1530 will support either 6 or 8 gb of ram, but only with certain Bios versions?
And those would be either A11 or A13, both of which I can't find anywhere. It sounds like Dell removed these from their site so that we wouldn't have this capability.
If this is the only way this is possible, is there someone out there that has a copy of this file? Or is there another way? I currently have A12 installed.!
Has anyone benched the temperatures with A12 on m1530 yet?

View 10 Replies View Related2 days ago my battery was "plugged in, not charging" so i figured my battery was dead. Since this morning it suddenly won't start at all.
When i turn it on, the power button and bluetooth symbol light up briefly and i can hear the fan running but that's all i get.
Nothing comes up on the screen at all. I've tried plugging it into an external display which also gets nothing. It does this with the power adapter and the >10% battery. What could it be

I plan to use the laptop mainly for Internet browsing, watching blu ray movies, some gaming. I do not plan to do any hard core gaming (some strategy and racing games like AOE, Ceaser, NFS etc.).
Please let me know what all from the below do I need to do for the heat problem (if any):
1. Undervolting CPU
2. Get Cooling Pad (I currently have Antec, but if needed I can buy Zalman NC2000)
3. Replace thermal compound .....
How Many of you have downgraded to A09 Bios for M1530 ?
would like to know whats the reason ?
Because I am still in A11 and didn't face any issues with it ( so far ) , so i could switch back
I have recently posted about issues I was getting in Fallout 3 and several people have suggested that I use the NVidia Beta Drivers.
I was just wondering what other people's experiances have been with the M1530 and the beta drivers? I have tried to search for answers, but they seem thin at best .....
I've had my Dell XPS M1530 for over a year now and it has been working fine ever since. I've had my laptop hibernated for about a few days now and I haven't really used it until I tried to start it up today to no avail. On pressing the power button, media button lights whirl through, power light comes on and fan comes on but my screen remains absolutely blank.
I've tried restarting and removing the battery.. Not sure what else to try..
i now there is 1 in the xps m1730, so how can i make it work.. i searched dell website for drivers and couldnt find anything.........
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got the inspiron 14 and formatted it with xp but the driver cd i got with the computer has vista drivers only. is there any way to get drivers for this computer that work with xp?
View 8 Replies View RelatedCan anyone who owns one these share some feedback and experience with this laptop?
This laptop seems to be the only one on the dell site that is ~$1000 with a good graphics card and portable (14" or lower).
i had to reinstall XP OS on my XPS M1530 machine. the previous nVidia driver(which was working perfectly b4 reinstalling) seems not working well as i have got couple of times BSOD problem.
then i have tried three different version which r 180.84,185.85_notebook_winxp_32bit_whql, 186.18_desktop_winxp_32bit_english_whql. none of them r good cause i can defference the video quality of the movies.
presently i reverse back to the nvidia_gfgo_17637_xp32, it seems bit better than those others but still i m not happy with the video quality.
Since I updated my bios I have noticed that my fans are pretty much always on high and that the heat coming out the back is a lot hotter than it used to be. Granted, I have been using the computer with my big monitor with the lid closed more now but even when I'm not doing that it's still just as hot. Has anyone else noticed this since the update?
View 10 Replies View Relatedi installed a fresh copy of windows 7 32 bit on my machine and on dells website the drivers are on ly offered in 64 bit, most of them do not wrk on this os.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi'd like to install Windows 7 on my Studio 1735.
Questions are:
- Do i have to install the, quite old, Dell Notebook System Software driver?
- Do i have to install the (Vista) Chipset drivers from the Dell Download page or can i download the newer ones from Intel.com? If yes to the latter, which one do i need?
- What about the ATI HD 3650 Video drivers, should i use the , old, ones'from the Dell Download page or can i find newer ones from ATI?
- can i just use the drivers delivered with Win 7 only and use Windows update for some uninstalled devices?
Unfortunately, Dell only provides Vista drivers, there will be no Win7 for the 1735.
What are your experiences on installing Win7 on a Studio 17(35), by the way?
It flies through most of the boot, and then stops when there is about a centimeter left of the progress bar.
There it stays for 15 seconds or more doing presumably nothing. Then I hear the dvd-rom "awakening" before it goes on to boot windows .....
I recently took advantage of a 20% off coupon for computers from the Dell Outlet.
I ordered a Studio XPS 1640 that included a 128GB solid state hard drive.
Shortly after the computer arrived I started having weird problems. At first I thought it was because I had installed the Windows 7 RC, but eventually I tried re-installing Vista and the same problems were happening (in other words, I spent a lot of time on this). I began to suspect a hard drive problem.
Finally, I called Dell support and while I was on the phone (for over an hour) the hard drive failed. OK...that was Monday and she sent me a replacement hard drive that arrived yesterday.
I installed the new hard drive and the first thing I did was go into the BIOS and it recognized the hard drive, so all was good so far. Next I went into the diagnostic and it came up with a hard drive error. I called Dell and after trying some diagnostics and re-seating the hard drive it was clear that the hard drive wasn't working - it was no longer even showing up in the BIOS .....
I'm in Need of Display drivers for Dell Vostro1500, Recently I upgraded my laptop to Windows7, let me know where should I get the drivers or send me the link I'm going to download the same from that link.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIve recently had my laptop repaired after it got wet and the replaced the screen and everything, but since i have had it back the FN and brightness buttons do not work, nor does the brightness controls work via BIOS settings, Â also when the laptop goes into sleep mode or the lid is closed, the screen stays on bright white instead of going off. Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a XPS M1530 that has seen very little use but unfortunately won't boot now. Â It is stuck on the bios screen that displays the dell logo - the progress bar on this page only displays about 15% complete and will not progress any further under any circumstances. Â I have performed the diagnostic boot option of holding down the <FN> key before power on and this displays just the caps lock flashing rapidly - the flashing does not halt. Â The other diagnostic lights (scroll and num lock) remain unlit except at the initial boot they flash once as per normal.
As dell has not published the diagnostic codes. The laptop is "as new" if a few years old now and I would like to keep it for sometime to come - the purchase price at the time was ~£1300.  One reason I bought dell was for the after sales care - I understand there have been various issues with this particular series of laptop which is unfortunate but I am hopeful to get it working again at reasonable cost.
As always im trying to make my comp run faster by having less unnecessary programs running and starting up. I have a dv5-1235dx BTW.
At startup (msconfig) i see a few HP programs that im not sure if i need or not to be starting up. This is what i see: HP MediaSmart, HP Quick Launch Buttons, HP health Check Scheduler, HP Wireless Assistant, GrooveMonitor Utility, Java Platform.
One of my friend is having Dell Studio 1535 (vista 64 bit). After formatting the system fingerprint reader is not working properly and is asking for driver (he used the cd that came along laptop but it is not working).
I also tried to look on the dell website but unable to find proper driver
Previous computer I had was an HP. Sucked. Burned out.

might play counter strike once in awhile but otherwise
