I've had my Dell XPS M1530 for over a year now and it has been working fine ever since. I've had my laptop hibernated for about a few days now and I haven't really used it until I tried to start it up today to no avail. On pressing the power button, media button lights whirl through, power light comes on and fan comes on but my screen remains absolutely blank.
I've tried restarting and removing the battery.. Not sure what else to try..
I want to dual boot the new Win 7 RC with the default Windows Vista OS already on the M1530.
My issues lie in not being able to make a 5th partition on the HDD for Win7 to go onto. Is there any way to keep my computer intact the it is and get Win7 on the HDD?
Before I deleted the Media Direct Partition but thats a horrible idea... just wondering if it would be possible without keeping another 2.5" HDD around just to have Win 7 sit on.
i have a Dell XPS M1530 laptop its 3 years old it used to show white screen on start up which soon converts into grey and sometimes colored stripes and than it eventually stops on a white screen with a thick black vertical stripe in the center and finally changes to black sometimes i car hear the start up tone of windows and even i can presumably browse the files and open them too again i can hear the sound but could not be able to see anything.
View 3 Replies View Relatedim having touble booting up into bios. i just put a m1710 mobo in with a fx1600m vid card with all my other e1705 parts and i cant boot up. the power light turns on for about 4 seconds and then it goes out. hard drive doesnt spin up or anything. the charging light goes on as if it was charging the battery but thats about it. would i need to flash the bios or somethin before using this card? i dont know the bios i have now because it wont boot up.

When you turn the system on the screen stays powered off (nothing on the screen, and no back light). The HD and WiFi lights stay on, the battery light flashes.
I've tried removing the battery and powering with just the mains adapter, I get the same problem.
When booting up, the bios does not recognize the supervisor or HDD passwords.

I have a problem with my dv9700. When I try to turn it on, it lights up in the small blue LED's, but then reboots even before I see the BIOS booting, this it keeps on doing again and again.
I've come to the conclusion that it's some kind of hardware failure, but exactly which one it is, I don't know. I tried switching out the RAM but with no luck.
Anyone here have a suggestion to what to do?
I have A LOT of very important data on the PC and I off cause have taken backups, but not recently.
I have a HP Pavilion dv4t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC and after updating my bios from F.22 to F.24 the computer wont boot into Vista. It was completed successfully using the winflash, but the computer restarted it just stays at a black screen, and wont go any further. (I hope bios is not corrupted.)
The computer is on but its not booting the operating system.
Is there any way I can revert to the old bios?
Also is there any key combination that can get it to load BIOS from a USB flash drive?
I've updated the BIOS on my t500 Monday. Followed all directions. Now when I power on the t500, it takes 10 minutes before it begins to boot. I see the lights, I hear the fans, but not video for 10 minutes.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just stumbled onto this site and I've been reading posts for hours. I wish I would have found it sooner! I have a M1530, with 3gb ram running Win7 32bit.
So, from what I gather reading that the XPS M1530 will support either 6 or 8 gb of ram, but only with certain Bios versions?
And those would be either A11 or A13, both of which I can't find anywhere. It sounds like Dell removed these from their site so that we wouldn't have this capability.
If this is the only way this is possible, is there someone out there that has a copy of this file? Or is there another way? I currently have A12 installed.!
Has anyone benched the temperatures with A12 on m1530 yet?

View 10 Replies View Related2 days ago my battery was "plugged in, not charging" so i figured my battery was dead. Since this morning it suddenly won't start at all.
When i turn it on, the power button and bluetooth symbol light up briefly and i can hear the fan running but that's all i get.
Nothing comes up on the screen at all. I've tried plugging it into an external display which also gets nothing. It does this with the power adapter and the >10% battery. What could it be

I have recently posted about issues I was getting in Fallout 3 and several people have suggested that I use the NVidia Beta Drivers.
I was just wondering what other people's experiances have been with the M1530 and the beta drivers? I have tried to search for answers, but they seem thin at best .....
Since I updated my bios I have noticed that my fans are pretty much always on high and that the heat coming out the back is a lot hotter than it used to be. Granted, I have been using the computer with my big monitor with the lid closed more now but even when I'm not doing that it's still just as hot. Has anyone else noticed this since the update?

There it stays for 15 seconds or more doing presumably nothing. Then I hear the dvd-rom "awakening" before it goes on to boot windows .....
Ive recently had my laptop repaired after it got wet and the replaced the screen and everything,but since i have had it back the FN and brightness buttons do not work, nor does the brightness controls work via BIOS settings, also when the laptop goes into sleep mode or the lid is closed, the screen stays on bright white instead of going off.

It is stuck on the bios screen that displays the dell logo - the progress bar on this page only displays about 15% complete and will not progress any further under any circumstances. I have performed the diagnostic boot option of holding down the <FN> key before power on and this displays just the caps lock flashing rapidly - the flashing does not halt. The other diagnostic lights (scroll and num lock) remain unlit except at the initial boot they flash once as per normal.
As dell has not published the diagnostic codes. The laptop is "as new" if a few years old now and I would like to keep it for sometime to come - the purchase price at the time was ~£1300. One reason I bought dell was for the after sales care - I understand there have been various issues with this particular series of laptop which is unfortunate but I am hopeful to get it working again at reasonable cost.
i installed the Bios A12 for XPS M1530, my battery has been giving me the "plugged in, not charging" message. I've read in other threads that going back to Bios A09 fixed the problem for some people. I want to try that myself, but the problem is i can't install Bios A09 because my available battery left is only 4%. View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to update USB3 driver via various options following re-install of OS (another story/issue) - tried via the drivers CD but couldn't see what I was looking for. Back to Dell website and downloaded and 'installed' what was hopefully the right one. Re-booted, but aagh forgot to take the CD out of the drive! And the laptop entered lots of stuff via the command prompt screen and has come to a halt with a message:

When I press the power button, the led's around the power button will light up and stay on for a few seconds then shut off. The power led on the left side remains lit as does the BT light. If I leave it set for a while, the BT light begins to flash but thats all I get - no diag code or anything. I have already tried removing/disconnecting everything I can think of (HDD, DVD, wireless, modem, BT card, memory, video card even) just to see if I could make it give me a diag code (I know - thats getting desparate). The only one that made it give me a code instead of turning off was removing the memory completely - it gave me the "no memory" code obviously (mute light was solid, vol up and down were flashing steady). But if I put known good memory in it, it doesn't work and if I put its memory in a known good laptop I have no probs. So I went ahead and bought a new motherboard and that didn't fix it (oops). Then I found this site.

It started perfectely with no problems. when I was running dvd it hanged suddenly, so i rebooted it with dvd still inside. Now problems starts, as soon as i switches power button all media button glows(which is ok) then optical drive make some noise and it hangs there!!! After rebooting 2-3 times by holding power button for 10 sec dvd came out from drive but still it hangs there. so as soon as i reboots it all media button glows then optical drive make some noise and it hangs there
