I have a problem with my notebook Lenovo N200 (0769). It has appear out of a sudden.
It was working fine a few days ago but at one point it stopped booting.
The bios correctly recognizes (apparently) all the the major components... but it hangs at one point after the message: "Mouse initialized"
The weird part is that it would not even boot from CD. It just hangs...
I tried removing the HDD and booting from a CD and everything went ok. I mean that the system would boot from the CD. So my suspicion is that the HDD is broken.
I first installed the blutooth, everything was running fine. Then went ahead with installing the gpu driver and then physx driver. Finally I go ahead with the A12 bios update (was running on A09 before this).
I restart the computer, and everything loads up just fine. I noticed the fan kicking in though but no biggie..
I can open up firefox window no problem. It's only when I access my documents (D) or My Computer or C: the computer freezes (not responding msg). The fan kicks in at this moment and waiting 10 more minutes doesn't solve anything so I have to force shut down the laptop. Is it the bios update which is doing this or Nvidia drivers?
I have dell isnpiron 5110 and currently I have installed a new copy of windows 8, windows 8 is working fine but when I plu gin the charger, laptop hangs, no mouse movement, every thing freezes, ctl+alt+del does not work, then only option to shut down the computer forcefully
my bios is upto date, I have installed new bios software and also upgraded graphics driver from dell website
I have been having problems with my XPS L502x I use to play Saint Rows the Third on my laptop it use to play perfectly but now after a year I restored my factory setting now when ever i install any of my old games they start off perfectly but during the game it hangs a lot...
I upgraded to BIOS A15 when it came out and since then I have had a problem that I never had before. I have now downgraded to BIOS A14 and the problem is gone.
Problem description When rebooting or shutting down Windows XP the shutdown process hanged. I think it only occurred when the computer was docked in the docking station. I have the advanced docking station with serial port, parallel port etc.
After I upgraded to A15 I noticed that the parallel port and serial port got listed the safe remove dialog box. With A14 and before they are not listed.
I have Dell Inspiron 15R n5110 laptop. The problem is about windows 8. Previously there were 2 problems. 1. The screen gets black and never work except in the basic mode. I installed windows 8 on my laptop month ago and everything work very well in the first tow weeks,
after that my laptop (dell XPS 15, 8GB RAM, i7 CPU, 2GB NVIDIA GPU,500GB 7200 HDD) constantly freezes and hangs on anything and frequently .
after tried almost everything, today I format it, and the surprise is that my laptop still do the same behavior before install anything !!! and this is me search on everywhere to find the solution and nothing worked until now !!!
I recently changed the motherboard on my Dell XPS M1710. After the first startup if actually got to the password login page. I then restarted but is hung on the Dells splash screen and froze (fans etc. are on) I did a full systems diagnostics and its metioned a memory error in DIMM slot A. I installed 2 new memory sticks. And re-ran the diagnostics which found no problems. I tried pushing the power button down, changing the CMOS battery etc but no luck. So I have a diagnostics programme telling me everything is working but I still cant get past dell spalsh screen. I also tried reinstalling windows, but it also hangs after starting. I can get into BIOS screem. but it wont let me change to 'Factory Default'
Laptop has not been used regularly for quite a while. The system booted up fine and loaded Windows Vista with no problem. Everything seemed to be in working order. Decided to wipe the system, load productivity applications, and give it to my grandson who is starting college. I depressed the F8 key during start up and entered the recovery routine. I selected the "restore to factory settings" option.
The system indicated it was first formatting the drive and then restoring the system. When I restarted the computer I got to the Dell Boot Screen. Displayed on the screen is the Dell logo, "Inspiron 1520 Series", progress bar, and "BIOS Revision A03". The progress bar fills from left to right and restarts the process in a perpetual loop. When I power the system off the on; the first boot cycle seems to take a lot longer for the progress to fill, but after that it loops with the progress bar filling quickly. The system no longer responds to the F8 key being depressed during start-up.
Consequently, I can not repeat the "Restore to factory settings" process. I have tried to boot the system several times with the same results. When I press F12 during and get "boot options" choosing "Internal Hard Drive" or "Onboard NIC" makes no difference. When I run the diagnostics option from the F12 screen; the system displays the heading: "Pre-boot System Assessment Build 4106" and passes all tests.
It appears to me that the recovery to factory settings routine has in some way damaged the system. It had been working fine before the procedure and hangs during boot afterward. How to get the system back into proper operating condition with the factory settings restored.
I purchased an inspiron 15r 5520 a few months ago. I ran assassins creed 3 on it and have run into some problems.
Now I read a lot about this problem on other forums. Whenever I run the game it crashes after some time and hangs up my computer too. Many think its because the dedicated graphic card (Radeon 7760M).
I have had my Inspiron 7347 for a few days. When operating on the battery, the touchpad exhibits some quirks that make this P:C extremely hard to use as a portable laptop.
The mouse on the touchpad hangs up intermittently, sometimes for several seconds. This erratic behavior makes using the mouse terribly difficult.
When scrolling using the mouse on a vertical scroll bar, the right click menu for the desktop keeps popping up. I must move the mouse away from the scroll bar, left click to get rid of the right click menu, and return the mouse to the scroll bar. Sometimes this behavior is constant when scrolling through a long page, making it impossible to use the mouse to scroll.
I have 2 Dell Latitude E6320 laptop that is given by a friend, he mentioned that both laptops has been constantly hanging everytime he restart the device.
The OS for 1st laptop is Win 7 Pro SP1 and the other one is Win XP Pro SP3.
Every time i restart the laptops it will hang in the next 7 or 10 minutes. I still can move the cursor around but i can't open task manager, or any files.
I have a problem in my inspiron mini 1012,it Hangs and wont pass BIOS loading.. i have tried to press f2 it can but it takes long time to pass and went in bios menu after any minutes its hangs again..and i tey to press f12 to use another boot option, but it can not pass...
I'm trying to upgrade the operating system on my laptop. Preinstalled Windows 7 x64 Home Basic, and I update to Windows 8 x64 Professional. At the end of the installation process hangs and all I see on the screen - this is the logo in the center of the screen, a few words at the bottom and five frozen in one position points that previously ran in a circle.
I repeated the installation several times, but all of these attempts have ended the same way.
Have any of you have a similar situation and how you solved it?
I tried reformating my mac today but for some odd reason, the installation screen is stuck on " Time Remaining: About 20 Minutes" for the past hour and a half I don't know whether I should remove the battery and start over or wait it out?
As a routine maintenance task, I ran chkdsk /r on my Inspiron 1545 last night and it hung at 69% in stage 5 for over 10 hours. I figured it was hung for good, so shut the machine off. When I turned it back on I got the black screen with a "missing operating system". Message.
Worst case, is it as simple to get a factory restore by hitting F8 at bootup like I;ve seen posted on the web? If not, I do have the factory system recovery disks I made, but I really want to save what's on the laptop already.
I've got a fairly new (6 months old) VAIO SZ645 that's run great for a few months and has recently started hanging periodically (every 15-30 minutes).
It just grinds to a halt for about 15-30 seconds, and 90% of the time I can still move the mouse pointer and input characters via the keyboard that are buffered and output once the hang has stopped .....
I've got a Pavilion g6 2215so.The computer sometimes hangs at startup and the only way to go around it is to unplug the battery and start it up without it.
I thought that maybe there are some newer BIOS drivers or firmware that would solve this.
But I cannot find the drivers for this model at all at the support site.I've tried to have the system identified as well but it doesn't come up with anything really.
My lenovo B570 is 1month old, when i turn it on it hangs before the user account appears.. its stucked and just saying "Please wait" then i need to turn it off and turn on and on again till it works. Then sometimes when i shut down its also stucked on "Shutting down" I already tried reformatting and its still the same.
I just bought a not-so-portable Acer 8920G in Argentina. It is a great laptop, but I'm running into random hangs all the time, with no easy explanation. The hangs are system-wide, all programs stop to function and the only thing I can do is move the mouse pointer around the screen. The alt-tab also works and I can switch between non-functioning programs, although nothing can be done to close them or to recover them. One curious thing is that the task manager doesn't appear to work during this hangs, but after the system recovers, the TM appears on the screen normally.
Sometimes this hangs keep on going for many minutes, and disabling the Wi-Fi or pressing the power button, or plugging/unplugging something USB causes the system to get back to work as if nothing would happen. Very, very weird.
I haven't installed an AV, and I am sure it is not a Virus-related problem, since it began the very first day I bought the laptop, being behind a corporate firewall.
This is my first computer running Windows Vista Home Premium 64, so I can't tell if I am having an OS-caused problem. Besides, when I'm not having this problem, the system works perfectly, with no signs of something malfunctioning. Sometimes I can use the computer for a couple of hours straight without errors, specially if it already had a hang before.
it's been like a year when i bought my aspire 5920g and everything run fine.
It's been about one month that sometimes the computer hangs up at welcome screen or loading the taskbar( the icons are loaded but you cant press them) and the mouse pointer keeps spinning(like it's busy) and nothing happens and I cannot press anything. So i have to restart the pc manually and run a check disk, and every time the problem is solved (this is annoying). But these days the chkdsk command cannot resolve the problem. Today after welcome screen it hangs on black background and only the cursor can move. I restarted several time and it keeps freezing. So basically i cant start windows.
My computer will hangs or lags for about a whole second once every few seconds to once every few minutes. It makes watching youtube videos annoying because I miss visual information to the lag.
I hadn't noticed this until a friend put a trojan on my computer with his thumb drive on accident. AVG said it quarantined the trojan, but who knows..
When I'm working, typing the keyboard and touchpad hangs. The only thing i can use is the usb mouse.
after logging off and logging back in, I can use the keyboard and touchpad again(once I needed to restart, because loggin and logging off didn't work). It happened with Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit and 64 bits. I have done all the updates, and HP updates also
I have let HP Dealer for my country to check things out, they say the hardware is okay, but the only thing i did not let them use the harddrive, due to confidential data on it. But my problem is that it looses connectivity at random, sometimes after 45 minutes or after 4 hours. Sometimes the laptop freezes during usage of the laptop. I need to do a hard reset(holding the power button for 20 seconds).
I have started Windows without start up programs to no avail. does the same.
I'm using: McAfee antivirus, windows firewall, Toad 9.01, MS OFFICE, ssh programs, FTp programs.
Another colleague has the same laptop with the same operating system on it. with the same antivirus, and he does not have this problem.
My PC model # is G42-490TU , Product # LR783PA#ACJ , Processor - Intel Core (TM)i3 CPU M370 , RAM : 2.00 GB (1.86 GB usable) , System Type : 32-bit Operating System .
My PC has been running very slow lately . It hangs , freezes , pages become unresponsive and hence, it takes lot of time to type . I have to use it daily for work so, I want to resolve this asap.
Would like to increase its speed to be able to work smoothly on it daily. Would like PC to run fast. How to increase its RAM ? Does it cost to increase the RAM ?
Also , reading some prev posts I downloaded this link - [URL] ..... to determine the chipset info and following is the result I received . Pls let me know if increasing the RAM to 4GB will resolve my system concerns making it run fast and does not lead to any hangs / freezes etc .
My Lenovo G580AH suddenly became unstartable. It tried to repair the system on startup but didn't finish this after one day.
Then I decided to recover my system using Recovery button. The procedure hangs on 16% with status that 1 sec remaining. I've tried this several times.Current file is different in each case but it is with "thl" extension. Path looks like "C:Program Files (x86)...*.thl" .
