Over heating m1330 ->Dell tech replaced mobo/cpu/gpu ->Booted up and seemed fine -> Tech left ->Resumed my online gaming ->Mouse stopped working ->Plugged in another mouse, didn't work,
touchpad stopped working -> restarted PC, stuck on green loading bar where it says "microsoft corporation".
I've tried loading everywhich way, called dell support and ran through diagnostics. Conclusion is I need to reinstall vista so they are sending me Vista OS disc.
I have owned my Dell M1330 notebook PC (specs in signature below) for over 4 years. Several weeks ago, the left and right-click touchpad buttons stopped working. The touchpad itself seems to be operating normally. I surmise I inadvertently deactivated the touchpad. I checked the manual, but it did not reveal how to reactivate (or deactivate) the touchpad buttons. How to reactivate the touchpad buttons, such as using the shortcut keys? I read one post in a PC forum of a similar situation; in that situation, the user's touchpad cable had come loose, but I understand this is a rare occurrence. How to reactivate the touchpad left and right-click buttons.
My Inspiron 1764 won't boot. It worked fine up until this morning. This morning it stopped booting. I removed and reinstalled the battery and reseated the RAM and hard drive. Then it would boot but would constantly go into sleep mode. Now it will no longer boot at all. When plugged in the battery light stays illuminated and will stay on even after the cord is unplugged. When I press the power button the power button may light for a few seconds and then go out.
My son's laptop has decided to be a jerk and not boot any longer.
It turns on then goes to a gray blue screen. I can get into set up the usual way and have tried other buttons but usually get a warning in regards to the hard drive when we try boot mode.
The laptops key board basically doesn't work either so I use an external one
My Dell Inspiron M501R will no longer boot up - its shows a black screen and repeatedly beeps 7 times. I understand this means the mother board has failed. The service tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> - its waranty has recently expired.
Interestingly, if you google "Inspiron M501R" google suggests "Inspiron M501R 7 beeps". So I'm guessing this laptop has been designed to fail soon after the waranty expires.
I have written a letter to BBC Watchdog asking how long a laptop can be "expected" to last and whether this would be covered by the UK Sale of Goods Act.
I have an acer M3 581T which I bought about a year ago. Now, windows crashed and said there was a file missing. I am no longer able to boot up the system, I've tried the erecovery (alt f10) but it just proceeds and says it's not able to boot. I have no recovery cd/usb at hand. It is of my understanding that this ultrabook has two harddrives. One SSD on which the operating system is installed and one HDD with the other files on.What do I do to make it work again? I do not care if all my files are lost.
I swear it is always something with this product. I made a bootable USB flash drive and put Windows 7 on it. I have 2 M1330's, the only difference between them is CPU/RAM/HDD. One of them boots just fine off the USB drive, the other doesn't. They are both running the A15 BIOS. What am I missing here? I've compared the BIOS settings side by side and they are identical.
I'm trying to boot from legacy boot from my new dell 7000 series. however when i change from uefi to legacy i have no boot option. the whole boot list is empty.
i have called dell and the support desk told me dell has no support for legacy :S that means no windows 7 on my dell or any other os that uses non uefi...... i think the bios is corrupt is the whole list is simply missing.
I'm wondering how can I run my XPS 1530 longer than couples of hours on 6 cell battery ? how about 9 cell users ? Can your battery last more to 4 hours ?
With lowest brightness, only 1-2 tasks running, how many hours can you get with 6 cell and 9 cell? I get only 1.5-2 hr on 6 cell which is actually quite bad and have to take adapter everywhere every time...hoping to take less weight
dell is no longer offering the Nvidia 8600m gt, they only offering only the 8400 in this system,
is this just coincidence? they gonna finaly take out the m1530 and m1330 systems? and if we, happy customers of the m1530, get in some trouble with this graphics card, they probably gonna replace with a Studio XPS 16? of similar specs? cause they wont have 8600m for replacement
i dont know about u but i dont like te studio xps 16, first bigger, heavier, and not as stylish as the .
Everything was fine, then when I would plug in a USB peripheral into a USB port, it shuts down. I tried it several times and now the laptop will not turn on at all. I have searched on google but there is not an issue like mine. Unlike others I do not even get lights or any hard drive noises. Is the motherboard fried?
The i7 1645 has been removed as a choice from Dell's website, as far as I can see.
Sure, you can type in "Studio XPS 16 i7" in Google and get taken to a page from Dell where you can configure, but you can't actually get an i7 1645 starting from a Dell site.
I got my m1730 in the mail a week ago or so, and its awesome of course. But all the reviews I saw of them state that it has a remote that fits nicely into the
expresscard slot. But no where on the dell site does it allow me to buy one, nor did it allow me to add one to my configuration when i purchased the laptop. Did Dell stop offering the expresscard remote?
My issue is playing Blu-Ray Discs. I put the disc in, and the program automatically initiates.
After a while though just as its doing the the loading green circle thing the program abruptly terminates.
I have no idea why it does this. When I start the program back up manually and tell it to play the BD movie, it just says "Unable to detect a DVD or a DVD device on your computer.
My Latitude E6410 Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit machine crashed yesterday and when it came back up I was no longer able to use the touch-pad buttons below the touchpad, or the middle button above the touchpad. The pointer stick, along with the right and left button above the touchpad are still working properly.
I have tried reinstalled the ALPS driver and the Dell touchpad software. When I open the touchpad software it shows the touchpad as being enabled but it does not show any configuration for the pointer stick or buttons above the touchpad. what driver or application I need to install to get my touchpad and buttons operational again?
Touch pad is no longer working. I have had my Dell Inspiron 17R for abut 15 months and the touchpad has not worked for at least 12 of them. At first I noticed the problem after my computer would install updates and I'd have to restore the computer to a particular snapshot point. That worked for all of one week. Then I also checked the drivers. That was unsuccessful. I have also tried pressing F3 + Fn and nothing. I won't begin to mention that I have to hold this laptop a particular way to get it to turn on.... I do know, the touchpad on a basically new laptop is supposed to work and the device is supposed to turn on when you press the power button without having to do some form of sorcery.
I have a studio 15 and I can no longer connect by going wireless. I can connect directly. I see the network but when I try to connect through the wireless card, nothing. I've run the Dell diagnostics and it shows nothing of concern. I didn't know if my wireless card is bad or how to test it or if there could be another reason.
I just went to the Dell US site to configure a 15 Studio laptop and notice when you go to configure the laptop the only choice for graphics is the integrated 4500HD!
I received my Win 7 DVD, did a fresh install and it detected my webcam. However my webcam no longer works in either skype or MSN.
Skype reports the error 'cannot capture video, camera may already be in use' MSN returns the error 'cannot connect to webcam. Close any programs that may be using your webcam and chose setup audio/video'
The only thing I can see 'blocking' these apps is the Dell Webcam Console. I can't see any way to uninstall just the console, I think it comes bundled with the default windows 7 driver. I can see the path is
I have changed the setting 'automatically launch webcam console when video is played' but still no joy. Tried uninstalling and installing old drivers but no luck either.
I've been using my 1737 to playback movies and downloaded TV shows to my HDTV via the HDMI socket for ages and its worked wonderfully. Suddenly the other day it stopped working and I no longer get an image on screen or sound.
I've got the latest drivers for my (intel) graphics card and the laptop detects 'something' is plugged in as a second monitor (windows 7 even detects its a Toshiba TV, but still no output on screen) so I assume it it working to some degree.
I always put my laptop on standby and turn it off only when required. Today 4 hours after I left it on standby, I could wake him up from standby but could not see anything on screen which worked and all operating system sounds could be heard, hard drive worked as well. I tried powering it off and on, entering BIOS but I still could not see display. Here's a link to YouTube video that portrays what I see:
I later saw information here on how to access ePSA testing environment so I followed the steps: removed battery, plugged off power supply, pressed Power Button for 1 minute to drain power, held Fn key and powered laptop on until I heard funny sounds. This was ePSA probably but I still could not see anything on screen:
If I am not mistaken, my laptop was running on dedicated nVidia graphics card. What should I do now? Luckily I have customer on-site warranty still valid, but I am looking for a faster way to solve problem. Who knows, but it may be a mere problem of cable got lose which is in my abilities to fix.
I have a late 2011 model XPS 15 that no longer wakes up from sleep or hibernation mode, at least only the screen doesn't. The computer will start up but the screen stays black, not even the backlight will come on. I can hear it working but nothing happens.
So I updated to Bios A09 hoping it would improve either my Wifi issues, my throttling issues, or my battery life issues. After the A09 update, my nVidia Graphics chip is no longer recognized, and therefore have lost my dual external monitor support. That may improve battery life I guess since the nVidia chip is now worthless and I'm forced to the Intel 4000. Not the change I was hoping for.
Is it possible to revert the A09 bios back to A06? Is this isolated to me, or was it just not QA'd at all by Dell?I worked around the wifi issue with a USB dongle, and am living with the battery life issues by getting less work done on airplane flights.Losing my multi-monitor support is killing my productivity. Also losing my patience with this machine and Dell in general.
