I've recently upgraded my XPS M1730 to Vista and upon doing so I've noticed that both my headphone jacks no longer work...
Only the one closest to the front of the laptop works, the middle jack doesn't work. Any ideas if this has to do with Vista?
Please post the link for the appropriate driver. I am using vista 64 bit premium. Thank you

Have a weird problem and just wanted some advice on what to do next, before sending in my laptop to dell..
My laptop speakers wont output any sound whatsoever. While i can hear those very same sounds via headphone jack/hdmi.. No music, windows system sounds etc via the speakers, but can hear them via headphone/hdmi..
I have installed and updated the latest drivers.. Reformatted and reinstalled operating system (windows 7 home 64 bit), yet no results..
While I am convinced that it could be a hardware problem, I was wondering if you guys could suggest any more tests/things to do..
I have an Aspire E1-572 that is five months old, running Win 8.1. I've loved the notebook to this point, but now the speakers have quit working completely (the headphone jack still works). I called tech support and they had me delete and reinstall the driver (Realtech high definition audio), which made no difference.
She then told me the next step is to refresh my Windows installation, which will apparently blow away everything I've installed since it was new. I declined to do that because I really don't want to spend an entire day reinstalling all the programs, even though I have the data backed up. Is this truly the only way to make a final determination if it's a hardware or software problem?
so for a while my headphone jack has been breaking. id have to wiggle around my headphone or speakers plug in the jack to make audio come out the right speaker. now it doesnt work at all unless push the jack in really hard and hold it there. does anyone know how to make audio come out of the microphone jack? like change it from input to output or something lol i dunno.

I was listening music on my headphone and when I put it off the headphone jack, I didn't hear any sound. I realised there is a problem with the jack, a bad contact electronic contact.
Since then, the jack is more and more "moving". I always lose the sound and get it back and it's really disturbing.

Here is my 2 questions:
- Is the only way to solve it is to change the sound card?
- Is is supposed to be cover by th warranty? Because the sound card still work, the problem is the input jack itself.
The headphone jack emits a buzzing noise when I have it connected to my Logitech speakers.
It only makes the annoying sound when the AC Adapter is plugged into it. Is there any quick fixes for this problem????
The headphone jack all of a sudden stopped working. I tried restarting my computer and it still doesn't work.
At first I thought my headphones died, but testing it on another source, it still works.

I am loving everything about this laptop except for some noticeable static at low volumes and some backlight bleeding at the bottom of the screen. i got a problem with my headphone jack. I only hear sound on the right side, not on the left. tried different headphones, same problem. Did the soundtest from the configurationpanel , same problem.
Laptop is a few months out of warranty so a repair by Acer isn't an option (if it is a hardware error).

I can get my headphones to work fine out of the laptop, but I would like to leave my headphones plugged into the headphone jack on the dock itself. The computer doesn't seem to recognize this jack is even there. My only sound options are the laptop speakers and the audio jack on the right side of the laptop.
How to enable the audio jack on the back of the dock?
Speakers in the laptop play music fine. When I use the headphone jack the music in my headphones has very little dynamic range. The music sounds squashed. The loud parts are limited and the soft parts are raised to the point that I can hear the background noise in the recording. I have never had this problem on any other PC.

This doesn't always happen, but I've noticed a few times on my T440p that when I have headphones plugged in, sounds comes out of the speakers. The headphones are functional and fully plugged in, yet no sound comes out of them, and the sound comes out of the speakers. I've fixed this multiple times by unplugging the headphones and plugging them back in.
(My problem differs from this one, where sounds comes from both the headphones and speakers)....
Just lookin' over the spec's on the new iphone and I noticed that the headphones now support volume control. I didn't see this fact listed before anywhere else or during the keynote... Its about time apple! The only major downside is that they are not enabling the feature on the 3G iphone. [url]
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo the Yoga 2 Pro's single 1'8" audio interface is billed as a "combo" jack that functions both as a line-out (for headphones, speakers) and a line-in (for plugging in other audio devices to play through the computer's internal speakers). Well, this doesn't seem to be the case - I've tried ini vain to do this with a Line 6 guitar interface with no luck whatsoever. The Realtek Audio HD software shows the jack as performing two functions, but you cannot change what it's being used for - a difference from earlier versions of the Realtek software (apparently this was most easy to change in the Windows XP version).

I noticed last week that the back light option on my keyboard no longer functions.I know the Fn key works on the keyboard as I can perform other Fn+ tasks and I know that the right arrow key (which is the same combo key that controls back-lighting) also functions on it's own.
Aside from normal Windows 7 updates, the only changes to my laptop recently has been flashing to the A07 bios and the new power supply mailed out by Dell.Am I missing a software option somewhere that defaults my back-lighting to off? Or is it a mistake (or intention) of the A07 bios to disable this feature given the recent power supply throttle issues with this model laptop.
I want to know how much it would cost to have my sound port / speaker port replaced on my Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop. If you plug in speakers or a headset you have to wiggle the cord to hear anything but it keeps going out. So I'd need to send it in and have it fixed. I no longer have a warranty.

I bought it at an apple store about 45 minutes from where I live... and I have set up an appointment with the genius bar (this is the only option they gave me). Do you think they will just replace it and give me another one (new)? I am a CS student taking summer classes and it is required for me to have a laptop. View 3 Replies View RelatedI encountered this problem today when i tried to scroll up a website and it simple didn't scrolled up so I tested it in some other programs to make sure it isnt just the scrolling. Then I booted into bios and the key works there fine and when windows started up the key was working for brief moment and then stopped working.
That points toward some program that might be doing it but I don't have a clue which one.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThe SSD in my laptop (HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition) recently died, so I got a new 120GB SSD and installed a non-OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (this is because my SSD apparently isn't large enough for the Recovery Disks HP sent me -- long story). The past few days I've been installing all the necessary drivers, and just about everything is working like it did weeks ago. However, there is one problem: my TouchPad can no longer be turned off by double-tapping in the top-left corner.
I've tried three different Synaptics TouchPad drivers. The one found on HP's website (v. 15.3.11.0), the one I get when I click "update driver software" in Device Manager (v. 15.3.29.0), and the one found on Synaptics' own website (v. 17.0.19). I've checked out "TouchPad Properties" for all of them, and they've not been of any support.
For my current driver, however, when I click on "settings" under "Tapping," there's an area called "TouchPad Disable Zone Settings," that has a checkbox that says: "Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad". However, the entire area is grayed out, and I can't check or uncheck the box (though, for what it's worth, it is currently checked). I candisable it manually in the "TouchPad Settings" tab of "Mouse Properties," but I'd prefer to just get the shortcut functionality back.
All of my on screen display notifications (volume, brightness, caps lock, numbers lock) no longer work. How to get them back?
