Sony :: Webcam No Longer Works With Windows 7
May 2, 2009On my Vaio TZ150N, after installing Winows 7, everything works, except the built-in WebCam. I have tried re-installing the drivers from both Sony and Ricoh, but no use so far.

Nov 4, 2012I installed Windows 8 on my Vostro 3560 and even installing the new driver for Win8 video card AMD HD 7670 Randeon the note presents several bugs this board, such as:* apps made for Win8 (with technology underground) not roam well with AMD board, where they are fighting or simply leave the slow note.* The computer now does not go into an idle state automatically after the time set in the Power Options, due to various errors that prevent this driver please note the suspended state.* The fingerprint reader no longer works at the log on screen or lock Windows 8. The reader only works when I'm on the desktop or on the start screen, also due to a problem with the video card drivers because it is causing several incompatiblidades system.All these mistakes I vii event log windows.Have I contacted AMD who said that Dell is to update the driver for the notebook has two cards (intel and AMD) and fits Dell make changes and corrections.And then Dell??

Nov 18, 2013I upgraded my w520 from Win 7 to Win 8 last year with zero problems. Now I upgraded my W520 Win 8 to Win 8.1 via the store download. Except the webcam everything works fine.
In e.g. the Skype desktop application, Google Hangouts or the camera app, the built in webcam no longer works.
The green light turns on, but I just get the crossed out camra icon in e.g. the Skype video options. No video.
I see there are no drivers yet for Win 8.1 on the Lenovo support site for the w520 camera. In device manager it still shows the 2011 camera driver 1.1.0.1147 and says "This device is working properly."
But it does not work properly. How to get the camera to work or is it just a matter of waiting for a driver to be released eventually?
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, camera is enabled in the Bios and permissions are set to give Skype and the camera app access to the camera. I also tried the W530 drives as was suggested elsewhere.

Feb 2, 2009I've recently upgraded my XPS M1730 to Vista and upon doing so I've noticed that both my headphone jacks no longer work...
Only the one closest to the front of the laptop works, the middle jack doesn't work. Any ideas if this has to do with Vista?

I bought it at an apple store about 45 minutes from where I live... and I have set up an appointment with the genius bar (this is the only option they gave me). Do you think they will just replace it and give me another one (new)? I am a CS student taking summer classes and it is required for me to have a laptop. The laptop is only 10 days old... and I still have all of the original cd's, case, etc...

Dec 18, 2014I encountered this problem today when i tried to scroll up a website and it simple didn't scrolled up so I tested it in some other programs to make sure it isnt just the scrolling. Then I booted into bios and the key works there fine and when windows started up the key was working for brief moment and then stopped working.
That points toward some program that might be doing it but I don't have a clue which one.

Dell Studio XPS 1645 :: Backlight Keyboard No Longer Works
Mar 8, 2010I noticed last week that the back light option on my keyboard no longer functions.I know the Fn key works on the keyboard as I can perform other Fn+ tasks and I know that the right arrow key (which is the same combo key that controls back-lighting) also functions on it's own.
Aside from normal Windows 7 updates, the only changes to my laptop recently has been flashing to the A07 bios and the new power supply mailed out by Dell.Am I missing a software option somewhere that defaults my back-lighting to off? Or is it a mistake (or intention) of the A07 bios to disable this feature given the recent power supply throttle issues with this model laptop.
Dell Inspiron 1750 :: Sound Port No Longer Works
Mar 16, 2013I want to know how much it would cost to have my sound port / speaker port replaced on my Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop. If you plug in speakers or a headset you have to wiggle the cord to hear anything but it keeps going out. So I'd need to send it in and have it fixed. I no longer have a warranty.

Jul 14, 2014The SSD in my laptop (HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition) recently died, so I got a new 120GB SSD and installed a non-OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (this is because my SSD apparently isn't large enough for the Recovery Disks HP sent me -- long story). The past few days I've been installing all the necessary drivers, and just about everything is working like it did weeks ago. However, there is one problem: my TouchPad can no longer be turned off by double-tapping in the top-left corner.
I've tried three different Synaptics TouchPad drivers. The one found on HP's website (v. 15.3.11.0), the one I get when I click "update driver software" in Device Manager (v. 15.3.29.0), and the one found on Synaptics' own website (v. 17.0.19). I've checked out "TouchPad Properties" for all of them, and they've not been of any support.
For my current driver, however, when I click on "settings" under "Tapping," there's an area called "TouchPad Disable Zone Settings," that has a checkbox that says: "Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad". However, the entire area is grayed out, and I can't check or uncheck the box (though, for what it's worth, it is currently checked). I candisable it manually in the "TouchPad Settings" tab of "Mouse Properties," but I'd prefer to just get the shortcut functionality back.

Lenovo Thinkpad T530 T400 / T500 :: Integrated Camera No Longer Works?
Dec 7, 2012I bought my ThinkPad T530 laptop in August of this year and about a month ago I used the Lenovo ThinkVantage updater and it updated the driver for my web cam. Ever since then it has stopped working.
Whenever I open the web conferencing menu, it only shows options for the microphone, and nothing for the camera. I have tried hitting Fn+F6 and accessing it via other software e.g. Skype, Oovoo, Picasa. And they say that my webcam cannot be detected.
When I checked for the webcam in device manager it said it was installed and working properly, and that the driver was up to date. I went to the lenovo website and downloaded the driver for the camera from there (g1ca16ww) and tried to update the driver manually hoping that that would fix the problem. Alas, it did not. I also checked the BIOS settings to make sure that the camera was enabled. It was.
So then I tried to reinstall the driver by uninstalling it, and using the driver I downloaded from the Lenovo website to reinstall. It installed properly, but now the webcam is no longer listed in the hardware manager and the dropdown for Imaging Devices, where it was located before, is no longer visible. I also rechecked the BIOS menu to make sure the camera was still listed there and it is. I do not know why it isn't working. I have also tried system restore and that didn't work either, the device still isn't listed. I don't want to have to wipe my computer.

When I swipe my finger, a message indicates that simple pass is launching the address but nothing happens and the website doesn't open.Simple Pass came with my HP Pavilion DV6T-7000 CTO laptop with a 64 bit operating system. I currently use windows 7. Google Chrome is my default search engine but I also use IE on occasion. Previously when my Simple Pass worked, my BOA location was only opening in IE.

Nov 7, 2009I received my Win 7 DVD, did a fresh install and it detected my webcam. However my webcam no longer works in either skype or MSN.
Skype reports the error 'cannot capture video, camera may already be in use' MSN returns the error 'cannot connect to webcam. Close any programs that may be using your webcam and chose setup audio/video'
The only thing I can see 'blocking' these apps is the Dell Webcam Console. I can't see any way to uninstall just the console, I think it comes bundled with the default windows 7 driver. I can see the path is

I have changed the setting 'automatically launch webcam console when video is played' but still no joy. Tried uninstalling and installing old drivers but no luck either.
Sony :: Bluetooth Tethering Works On FW490 With Windows 7
Oct 7, 2009I may be over-reacting here, but I just realized that I can access the Internet from my VAIO FW490 via Bluetooth tethering using my LG Vu.
No special tools or software needed, except the Broadcom Bluetooth Driver from Sony eSupport. It's really quite handy if you plan to take your laptop on the road.

Sony :: CR Webcam And Windows 7
Nov 1, 2009I just clean installed Win 7 Professional into my sister's Vaio CR220E. Everything are OK except Webcam and Battery.
1. With the Webcam, it seem gone away without any track. There is no device left without driver in Device Manager and no Webcam among of them.
I try to install driver by running the exe file or install.bat but no effective.
2. The battery die already. There is no problem in Vista but in Windows 7,
an alert message said that Battery is wrong plugged or different type and Sony Event Service always force me to hybernate the system and remove then plug the battery again.

Dec 11, 2009I recently upgraded my M1330 from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, and I've lost the ability to use both audio outputs at the same time.
For example, on the front of my laptop, there are two audio outputs, so that two people can listen to something at the same time.
However, after going to Windows 7, I've lost that ability. Both of the outputs work, but you cannot use 2 headphones simultaneously.
I used the SigmaTelHD Vista drivers and no luck.

Acer :: Backup Works But Restore Doesn't After Upgrading To Windows 7
Nov 15, 2009I haven't been able to locate a Windows 7 x64 version of Acer eRecovery.
I can get to the basic operating system required for restoring user backup files by inserting the Restore CD in the CDROM. But if I select Restore from the eRecovery menu, after selecting the desired restore file the PC reboots into normal startup mode instead of rebooting into basic operating system for the Restore function.

Sep 29, 2009Has anyone had an issue where the ALS suddenly stops working under Windows 7? I've checked BIOS settings, tried seemingly every combination of driver uninstalls/reinstalls, confirmed that both the Dell and Microsoft ambient light sensor services are enabled and running (and tried disabling, one, the other, and both) and have not had any luck. Unlike some other posts I found on here with the same-body Lattitude models, I can control the backlight manually with both the keyboard and software - it is only the ambient sensor that does not work.
I am running BIOS A15, and Windows 7 x64 RTM.
Dell Studio 1558 :: Install Of Windows 8.1 Does Not Show Bluetooth But It Works
Jan 13, 2015I have a Studio 1558 laptop, originally with Windows 7 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro. I have just installed a larger HD (1TB) to replace the 500GB which I thought might have been on its way out as it occasionally started clicking. I have also taken the opportunity for a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro. But the Device Manager does not show any Bluetooth devices even though the Bluetooth mouse works! However I cannot find any links in Devices & Printers to allow me to change the mouse wheel action or the Synaptics touch pad action.
Going back to the 500GB HD gives me all this functionality so the hardware is all ok. The BIOS settings still have Bluetooth enabled. I have updated Windows updates, and used Slimdrivers to update all the drivers.

Jul 16, 2014I have been having issues with audio on my G500. One moment it works and the next it doesn't. I don't quite know what can be the issue. I have tried multiple browsers to see if that is the issue and it has not made a difference. I am running Windows 8.0, 64 bit operating system if that makes a difference. This laptop is not even a year old.
