I encountered this problem today when i tried to scroll up a website and it simple didn't scrolled up so I tested it in some other programs to make sure it isnt just the scrolling. Then I booted into bios and the key works there fine and when windows started up the key was working for brief moment and then stopped working.
That points toward some program that might be doing it but I don't have a clue which one.

I have an E540 and today I spilled some liquid on the trackpad and now my cursor is moving around and clicking randomly. I use a mouse so I don't need the trackpad.
I've read online how to disable the trackpad but I don't have any of those options. Like disabling it in BIOS or in the driver(Control Panel -> Mouse) - I just have uninstall. If I uninstall windows 8.1 will just automatically reinstall it after reboot.
How can I disable the trackpad?
I have purchased E540 and I have purchased Norton Internet security but the system does not load the installation when I insert the disc. I have tried the run command as well as other options like choosing the file from the disk in the windows explorer but still my system can not load the setup!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased the E540. Running Win 7.1. I have 2 WD 3.0 Passport drives plugged into a USB 3.0 hub. The 3.0 hub has the correct cable for 3.0. They are not being recognized as 3.0 devices (I get a message). I updated the USB 3.0 driver on lenovo's site and BIOS is set to auto.recognize. I have also tried the 3.0 option in the BIOS but that didn't do anything. I also tried using the drives without the hub in one of the 3.0 USB slots but that didn't do anything either.
I have checked the forum but what I found was possibly purchasing a 3.0 cable (not necessary - my cable is 3.0 compliant) but that was for a Wn 8 system or updating 3.0 device driver (done). So much for plug and play.
The fan in my e540 does not stop once it has started spinning. This is completely independent of system temperature. Even though the temperature of the board and the cpu is below 40*C the fan won't stop.
The fan does not always spin, though. If I wake up the system from sleep or power it on, the fan does not spin and will not start spinning until a certain temperature threshold is reached. This part of fan control works correctly.
Interesting procedure: I work until the system gets hot and the fan kicks off. I want until the system is cooled down below 40*C (checked with speccy software, the air stream leaving the notebook is cold). The fan is still spinning at this point and will probably spin forever. I suspend the laptop (no complete power off required). I immediately "wake up" the laptop (system temperature did not change, no time to cool down). The fan is off again and will not start spinning until the temperature threshold is reached.
I have recently purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E540, with Windows 7 installed. I'm trying to use the integrated camera with Skype, but I can record no picture. When I try to install the Integrated Camera Driver from Lenovo Support, [UR], the setup always fails with Engrish error messages.

I'd like to know if it's possible to completely turn off the nvidia gpu from the BIOS so it works only with the integrated intel one or should I buy one with intel gpu only.
I have read that the lenovo changed the dual gpu implementation on the latest generation thinkpads.
Dolby Advanced Audio v2 issue .....
I added a second drive (SSD) successfully to the E540, everything works and is set up properly. I still have the original HDD in place and got Windows 8.1 (x64) installed on both drives. However, I cannot run Dolby Advanced Audio v2 when booting from the (fresh) Windows installation on the SSD. Right after booting or trying to start the application there is a Windows error message telling me that the Dolby-driver cannot be run and I should reinstall the application if the error continues to exist.
When booting from the original HDD there is no problem with Dolby Advanced Audio v2, the application just works fine. Whenever booting from SSD the error message comes up.
I know that this is a known issue and I've read all the information that is out there on the internet. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the DRIVERS folder on C: multiple times, installed everything in different orders and tried almost every combination of using the SETUP in AUDIO, the SETUP in DOLBY, the UIUa64 and so on. I can't install Dolby Advanced Audio v2 on the new SSD properly. The installation finishes and Dolby Advanced Audio v2 is shown in the list of installed programs, but immediately after finishing the installation the error message also occurs.
(I exactly followed the reported solutions for other systems, but none of them worked for me. In which order I have to run the driver setup(s) for my E540 if you think this is a possible error source.) I really do not know what could cause the error message while the (seemingly) exact installation still works while booting from the original HDD?
(I am not referring to Dolby Digital Plus but Advanced Audio v2! The Dolby Digital Plus user interface is accessible on SSD. The sound quality varies tremendously between the two Windows installations on HDD and SSD and the loss of sound quality is unacceptable for me.)
I uninstalled and reinstalled (automatically by Windows 8.1) the mic and it's no change. I try to chat over Skype but people barely understand what I am saying. I tested it with other apps apart from Skype and it's the same issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedToday I received my brand-new E540 from Amazon. Upon inserting the battery and starting the laptop for the very first time, I was greeted by the following error message:
The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge.
Please replace the battery with the correct Lenovo battery for this system.
Press the ESC key to continue.
The message has only appeared once and hasn't been shown on subsequent reboots.
I proceeded to install Windows 7 which worked fine. Under Windows the battery symbol in the taskbar would say "66%. Plugged in. Not charging". I then shutdown the system and re-inserted the battery. Since then the battery appears to be charging normally and when I inspect the battery symbol in Windows it says something like "89% charged. Plugged in. Charging."
Seeing how this is a brand-new laptop, do you think the battery is broken and I should return the laptop, or should I keep it since it seems to be working normally now.
In Skype when trying to make a call, the program crashes, I googled the issue and it seems others have had similar problems and it was fixed by updating their Intel Graphics driver.
"Intel® HD Graphics Control Panel" program also won't open, it crashes instantly.
"ThinkPad Video Features" driver fails at installation ....
I have the latest driver to the Intel Graphics, which I got from lenovo support....

I have recently bought ThinkPad E540 with OneLink Pro Dock, in which I have connected my LG Flatron IPS236 external display. LG's max resolution is Full HD 1920x1080, but for some reason my external display's max resolution is only 1280x1024. The display is attached to the OneLink Pro Dock's DVI port. I have both updated the graphic card's drivers and LG monitor's drivers and booted the system. I have also tried using both 75 hertz and 60 hertz refresh rates.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchases a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 540 and it worked just fine untill earlyer today.While i was browsing the internet, some how my touchpad developed a problem.It only registeres right click where ever i click.I've deleted the drivers, even tho they were the knewest ones, downloaded a fresh .exe and installed it after the reset and what not and it still has the same problem.
If i turn off the touchpad in the ultranav software and enable only trackapad, the buttons work like they should, the large area in the touchpad registeres as the left click and the small area in the top right is registered as the right click. Tho i can't use the touchpad for navigation.So clicking doesn't works, well neither does tapping. I can doubletap normaly, but i cannot tap and drag such as selecting a block of text.
Again, i've already tried a fresh install of ultranav drivers and it didn't work. The problem manifested itself during normal browsing, nothing was installed nor changed hardware vise. It litteraly changed in a second.how to solve it since the driver reinstall didn't work.

I bought my ThinkPad T530 laptop in August of this year and about a month ago I used the Lenovo ThinkVantage updater and it updated the driver for my web cam. Ever since then it has stopped working.
Whenever I open the web conferencing menu, it only shows options for the microphone, and nothing for the camera. I have tried hitting Fn+F6 and accessing it via other software e.g. Skype, Oovoo, Picasa. And they say that my webcam cannot be detected.
When I checked for the webcam in device manager it said it was installed and working properly, and that the driver was up to date. I went to the lenovo website and downloaded the driver for the camera from there (g1ca16ww) and tried to update the driver manually hoping that that would fix the problem. Alas, it did not. I also checked the BIOS settings to make sure that the camera was enabled. It was.
So then I tried to reinstall the driver by uninstalling it, and using the driver I downloaded from the Lenovo website to reinstall. It installed properly, but now the webcam is no longer listed in the hardware manager and the dropdown for Imaging Devices, where it was located before, is no longer visible. I also rechecked the BIOS menu to make sure the camera was still listed there and it is. I do not know why it isn't working. I have also tried system restore and that didn't work either, the device still isn't listed. I don't want to have to wipe my computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed last week that the back light option on my keyboard no longer functions.I know the Fn key works on the keyboard as I can perform other Fn+ tasks and I know that the right arrow key (which is the same combo key that controls back-lighting) also functions on it's own.
Aside from normal Windows 7 updates, the only changes to my laptop recently has been flashing to the A07 bios and the new power supply mailed out by Dell.Am I missing a software option somewhere that defaults my back-lighting to off? Or is it a mistake (or intention) of the A07 bios to disable this feature given the recent power supply throttle issues with this model laptop.
I want to know how much it would cost to have my sound port / speaker port replaced on my Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop. If you plug in speakers or a headset you have to wiggle the cord to hear anything but it keeps going out. So I'd need to send it in and have it fixed. I no longer have a warranty.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe SSD in my laptop (HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition) recently died, so I got a new 120GB SSD and installed a non-OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (this is because my SSD apparently isn't large enough for the Recovery Disks HP sent me -- long story). The past few days I've been installing all the necessary drivers, and just about everything is working like it did weeks ago. However, there is one problem: my TouchPad can no longer be turned off by double-tapping in the top-left corner.
I've tried three different Synaptics TouchPad drivers. The one found on HP's website (v. 15.3.11.0), the one I get when I click "update driver software" in Device Manager (v. 15.3.29.0), and the one found on Synaptics' own website (v. 17.0.19). I've checked out "TouchPad Properties" for all of them, and they've not been of any support.
For my current driver, however, when I click on "settings" under "Tapping," there's an area called "TouchPad Disable Zone Settings," that has a checkbox that says: "Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad". However, the entire area is grayed out, and I can't check or uncheck the box (though, for what it's worth, it is currently checked). I candisable it manually in the "TouchPad Settings" tab of "Mouse Properties," but I'd prefer to just get the shortcut functionality back.
