Dell :: XPS1530 With WSXGA+ (1680x1050) Screen

Apr 27, 2009

I'm just awaiting delivery of my new XPS1530 with WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen.

Looking through the archives Ive seen a lot of posts relating to problems with the Samsumng version of the screen and that the LG screen is superior.

However, a lot of the posts are at least 11 months old, so I was wondering what the state of play is now. Can I expect an LG screen or has the Sumsung screen been upgraded

Dell :: Just Applied My New LG WSXGA + Screen On My XPS M1530

Jan 30, 2009

After a lot of troubles and two replacements made because of faulty previous screens I finally got my LG WSXGA+ screen. First impression is "unbelievable", it's gorgeous screen with only one little problem- it has slightly noticeable light bleeding at bottom (I think there isn't exist screen without it at all)

After that I noticed that it is a little bit dimmer than my previous LG WXGA+ (I think because 200 vs 220 nits, what do you think?)

And then I went to control panel and saw it is LPL0000 instead of LPLF300,

So what do you think about this part number? Although the screen is really beauty.

Dell :: 1680x1050 In A 15"

Mar 20, 2010

Which current Dell notebooks feature 1680x1050/1600x900 displays?

Dell seem to insist on using stupid labels like 'HD' to indicate screen resolution rather than the proper terminology ('WSXGA' or even just '1680x1050'), making it really hard to find anything!

I am a bit unclear about whether the laptop's graphics card can drive a higher resolution external, and how much higher.

I am looking at either the Acer 22 inch 1680 x 1050, or the Acer 23 inch with 1920 x 1080

Dell :: WUXGA Vs WSXGA

Oct 4, 2007

I met a guy who had a e1705 with the 1440 by 900 LCD with Xbrite, and I must say that I felt it was a great looking LCD. As a gamer I can't help but feel that my games would perform better along with my 7950 GTX with a smaller native resolution. And it wouldn't bother me because it still has the Gloss and Xbrite like features.

I was wondering if someone out there knew what type of gains and losses I'm looking at overall. I'm seriously considering changing out my LCD on my M1710.

But.... My blu Ray's wont' work will they? Well they won't play at 1080 anymore right?

Dell :: E6500 WUXGA 2CCFL Vs. E6400 WSXGA LED

Mar 30, 2009

the question is pretty much in the title. I'm thinking about buying a E6500 Latitude with WUXGA 2CCFL display. The comments about the 2CCFL backlight I've read so far haven't been very positive, but I haven't owned a backlight so far and can't decide how serious the possible issues are.

I'm mainly working in a text editor on a black background or surfing the web, in particular I'm not doing any photo editing. I'll watch a DVD from time to time but I'm not used to the best display and it shouldn't be too hard to meet my demands when it comes to colors. But of course the display shouldn't suck,

displaying wrong colors or being bright at some places and dark at others. And it should be sufficiently bright for working under normal lighting conditions without having to sit right in front of a wall with curtains closed as it is the case with my current display.

The alternative would be a WSXGA display with LED light and I'd probably choose a E6400 instead of a E6500 in this case. But I could also buy it on a E6500.
I'd appreciate any suggestions helping me which display to pick.

Dell :: My XPS1530 Expirences

Apr 18, 2009

I have been on this forum for quite awhile, I don't have many posts but I am always reading everything on here. OK, so on to what I posted this thread for, Just figured I would give a little intro, So it doesn't seem like im completely blind on whats going on in the laptop world.

I have had a XPS 1530 for almost a year now. At first I loved the laptop. Then I started having a problem, The fan was going out, Made a horrible clicking noise. No big deal though, After dealing with CS that you cant understand and runs you in circles trying to fix it, Got it replaced and all was fine again.

A couple months later, I was working out in the garage, and had the laptop out there looking up some exploded views for a car part I was working on. A cup of water I had on top of the bench got knocked over..I went to catch the cup, and ended up knocking the laptop off the bench and the the cup proceeded to land on it, full of water. So, The laptop was fried. Again dealing with the same CS that sucked. I was able to send the laptop in, And got it back about a week later. So that was good.

I would have thought they would have just replaced the laptop, and not tried to fix it.

Anyways, I was looking over the laptop after I got it back and wasn't pleased. The plastics on the bottom were all warped and the media button plastic piece wouldn't stay in place. And it looked like water was still behind the screen. So I turn the laptop on, And it didn't last 30 minutes before the screen went out. To me this is unacceptable.

Even if I caused the problem in the first place, Thats why I paid for the accidental warranty. I would think I could get my laptop back fixed, OR a new one. Had to jump through a bunch of hoops for the CS again,..Sent the laptop back.

I got a refurbished one back about a week later, First thing I notice is all the stickers(service tag, etc. from my original comp) were taped to the back with scotch tape.. And all falling off and ripped. Open the laptop and the space bar is bent, there are scratches on the plastic by the hinges. The black plastic for the media keys is all warped. Start the laptop up.. Dead pixels all over the screen, Or scratches in the LCD is what is really looks like. The HDD was very noisy! And if you plug headphones in, Its really fuzzy. But either way, I have dealt with this stuff for months now, I had to get a bunch of college work done. But now that that's over. The laptop has only got worse, I'm waiting for the hard drive to stop working, Its making horrible noises. And the hinges don't work well anymore, And the computer is running hot, No matter what bios or drivers I install. I still have my full warranty for about another 2 months.

Dell :: XPS1530 GPU 94C When Gaming

Mar 26, 2009

I have owned my XPS 1530 for about 8 months now. It has been quite some time since i took my original temperatures, but i remember running games like warhammer online, call of duty, etc, at a temperature of 45c idle status , and like GPU 71c under hours of gaming. I think the hottest it got was GPU 79 degrees. 8 months later i decided to try gaming again and to my surprise my laptop is getting SO hot that it burns my hands and my speedfan shows the GPU at like GPU 64 idle ( 69 when the batter adapter is in) and up to 91-95 when on a game. I used to have a zalman laptop cooler which kept my comp a bit cooler, but i only noticed it effecting my temp. by about 2-3 degrees. I am going to undervolt and get my broken zalman replaced but I need to know one thing:

Do I have defective hardware? Is it normal to see an increase in temperatures as laptops get older? I am very afraid that something is damaged. Also, is there a specific driver that i should be running which can help my graphics card cool down, or am i one of the unlucky few who have been given a bugged 8600gt.

Dell :: Vostro Screen Wobbled/looseunable To Repair, Now Plastic Around Screen Is Loose

Nov 13, 2008

I have a Vostro 1500, which I bought 10 months ago. About 3 months ago the screen became loose and wobbled about 10 degrees when computer was moved or if I was on the train and it went over bumps. I tightened the screws as advised but this did not have any real effect. Dell engineer came and replaced the back cover with new hinges, (as they though hinges may be broken/at fault but they were fine,) but some wobble was still noticable so he ordered a new base. He came today and took the screen out complete with all the screen casing out of the old base, and put it into the new base, but still wobbled, so just put it back in the old base as it wouldn't have cured the problem.

Now yesterday, after he put the new back cover on, he had to take the plastic around the front of the screen off. After he put it together I noticed that the screen is no longer flush with the plastic surround and it annoys me! Am I just being finicky/picky or should I ask them to fix it?

Dell :: Vostro 1500 LCD Screen Replacement. New Screen Acting Weird

Jan 30, 2010

Hi all, new person here. I did a search on LCD screens but can't find my problem anywhere.

Here's the background and problem:

Vostro 1500 with Chungwha 1280x800 screen that got cracked by my kids. I ordered a replacement screen from a company off Amazon.com that was highly rated. Got the screen and installed it. It is make by Chi Mei. When I powered up the computer I got 8 screens of start up and it was very dim. Once it went past the Windows start up screen everything went black. It would only continue to Windows screen, still showing 8 windows in safe mode. I hooked up the old screen and everything worked fine.

I contacted the company and they air expressed me another screen, which I received yesterday. Hooked it up and got the exact same problem, which leads me to believe it's the Dell that doesn't like it. I will try and attach some photos because I am at a loss.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Dell :: I9300 Gfx Card Dead - Gives A Black Screen After The Xp Spalsh Screen

Feb 25, 2009

I was browsing the internet a day ago and I was on a "COLLEGE" website so i know this is not due to a virus. At this time all of a suden my screen went black.

I powered the laptop off and turned it back on, The Dell logo appeared but the screen was fuzzy and had some "tearing" i dont really know what to call it but it doesnt look right. Kind of like an old VCR playing videos. The screen then whent black after the windows xp splash screen. The laptop still boots to windows but it does not display anything.

I booted into safe mode, everything functions correctly and the way it's supposed to. I then booted into VGA mode same thing everything functions and works the way it is supposed to. I also ran some virus scans just incase, nothing was found.

Whilist in safe mode i changed the resolution down to 800 x 600 and still no luck after booting in regular mode.

In VGA mode i tryed to change resolution and the screen displayed some blue fuzzy lines then whent black.

After this I booted back into safe mode and done severeral diffrent System Restores at diffrent dates. Still no luck

After going through all this I am assuming this is a GFX card problem. The laptop is about 3 years old and ive played games pretty hard on it ever since. The card has defenitly gone through some some stress. Can anyone confirm this?

I know that the i9300 sells for about 400 working, and i checked on ebay for a card that is a whopping 180 bucks. Id just assume buy a new laptop. Then sell the i9300 laptop for parts because everything else works fine. Or maybe buy the card swich it out and sell it for a price. Maybe there is a way to fix it i dont know. can anyone help?

Lastly, i thought i would add that when i check the bios the card is recognized and it displays all the correct info for the card. IS there a way to tell for 100% that the card is bad?
