HP/Compaq :: DV5 WSXGA+ Resolution

Mar 1, 2009

where I can buy a DV5 with a decent processor and WSXGA+ resolution? All I can find are the basic models with the standard WXGA. I've tried everywhere I can think of, including the incredibly poor HP website.

What happened to the 1680x1050 units that the model use to have. I know they use too use 1440x900 res screens on the unit but now the only available res is 1600x900.

Dell :: WUXGA Vs WSXGA

Oct 4, 2007

I met a guy who had a e1705 with the 1440 by 900 LCD with Xbrite, and I must say that I felt it was a great looking LCD. As a gamer I can't help but feel that my games would perform better along with my 7950 GTX with a smaller native resolution. And it wouldn't bother me because it still has the Gloss and Xbrite like features.

I was wondering if someone out there knew what type of gains and losses I'm looking at overall. I'm seriously considering changing out my LCD on my M1710.

But.... My blu Ray's wont' work will they? Well they won't play at 1080 anymore right?

Dell :: Just Applied My New LG WSXGA + Screen On My XPS M1530

Jan 30, 2009

After a lot of troubles and two replacements made because of faulty previous screens I finally got my LG WSXGA+ screen. First impression is "unbelievable", it's gorgeous screen with only one little problem- it has slightly noticeable light bleeding at bottom (I think there isn't exist screen without it at all)

After that I noticed that it is a little bit dimmer than my previous LG WXGA+ (I think because 200 vs 220 nits, what do you think?)

And then I went to control panel and saw it is LPL0000 instead of LPLF300,

So what do you think about this part number? Although the screen is really beauty.

Dell :: XPS1530 With WSXGA+ (1680x1050) Screen

Apr 27, 2009

I'm just awaiting delivery of my new XPS1530 with WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen.

Looking through the archives Ive seen a lot of posts relating to problems with the Samsumng version of the screen and that the LG screen is superior.

However, a lot of the posts are at least 11 months old, so I was wondering what the state of play is now. Can I expect an LG screen or has the Sumsung screen been upgraded

Dell :: E6500 WUXGA 2CCFL Vs. E6400 WSXGA LED

Mar 30, 2009

the question is pretty much in the title. I'm thinking about buying a E6500 Latitude with WUXGA 2CCFL display. The comments about the 2CCFL backlight I've read so far haven't been very positive, but I haven't owned a backlight so far and can't decide how serious the possible issues are.

I'm mainly working in a text editor on a black background or surfing the web, in particular I'm not doing any photo editing. I'll watch a DVD from time to time but I'm not used to the best display and it shouldn't be too hard to meet my demands when it comes to colors. But of course the display shouldn't suck,

displaying wrong colors or being bright at some places and dark at others. And it should be sufficiently bright for working under normal lighting conditions without having to sit right in front of a wall with curtains closed as it is the case with my current display.

The alternative would be a WSXGA display with LED light and I'd probably choose a E6400 instead of a E6500 in this case. But I could also buy it on a E6500.
I'd appreciate any suggestions helping me which display to pick.

HP/Compaq :: HP HDX18t External Display Resolution

Jan 25, 2010

I have a HP HDX18t w/ Windows 7 Home Premium and the Nvidia GeForce GT 130M video card. I'm trying to hook up a Dell 30" LCD monitor with a native resolution of 2560x1600 via the HDMI output using a HDMI to DVI cable. Doing so, the system will only allow the external Dell a max resolution of 1280x800 while the HDX screen stays at 1920x1080. The 1280x800 look really bad. I want to use its native resolution of 2560x1600 or atleast the 1920x1080. When I use VGA output, nothing shows up on 30" (blank black screen).

Using my 24" Dell, I can get 1920x1080 either via the VGA or HDMI (to DVI) fine. Based on my research it seems to be a limitation of the Nvidia GeForce GT 130M because it just doesn't allow that high a resolution (i.e. no dual-link DVI capabilitiy). Is this true? Or am doing something wrong?

Is there any solution in using a 30" monitor with the HP HDX18t? Will one of those Matrox DualHead2Go devices work to run the 30" and 24 inch monitor simultaneous at 1920x1200. I'll be fine with that. My wife is firm in using the 30" monitor we have. Is this a loss cause and I have to get another laptop that will support a 30" external monitor? If so, any advice on which one.

I also own a desktop with an Nvidia 8800gt graphics card and it recognizes the 1360x768 resolution immediately, I dont why this is happening since both the laptop and desktop use similar drivers?

some manufactures have a "Fn+key" or "shift+key" type of shortcut that will change an internal setting and enlarge or reduce the picture being displayed.

Dell :: Studio XPS 16 Resolution

Mar 30, 2009

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question. Traditionally,(well at least for me anyway) laptop/montior screen resolutions are represented by two numbers. E.g. 1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050 etc. But on the XPS 16, it's available in 720p and 1080p? What exactly are their resolutions? 1280x720 and 1920x1080(assuming they come in 16:9 aspect ratio?)

If so,
Q1) On a 16inch display, wouldn't one want more 'space' than 1280x720 gives? For me personally, the resolution should at least be 1440x900 but better be at 1680x1050.
Q2) On a 16inch display, can one REALLY tell the difference between 720p and 1080p?
