View 12 RepliesI have an XPS M1710, 2GHz and 2Gb RAM, XP SP3 (although was SP2 when this happened).
About 4 months ago, my WI-FI internet connection became very slow - I mean slower than dial-up, on 10Mb/sec broadband connections. It takes 30 secs to bring back a Google search for goodness sake! It had been working fine for 18 months, and it just suddenly ground to a virtual halt, and has been such ever since.
I've tried it in several different offices and homes where it was previously fine, and it's the same everywhere. The LAN connection still works fine..
Does anyone else have a low wireless connection speed with their dell latitude e6400? I have full signal strength and yet the speed is only 5.5 mbps.
All the other computers/laptops in the house that uses the wireless gets 54 mbps while my latitude gets 5.5 and sometimes it will go up to 9 and down to 6 or 2 and it's just not constant.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Just got my shiny new XPS13 trying to connect to my network and I think I may have dropped a clanger in the order.
My Router is a from SKY, Netgear DG934G g and b only, I read that the 1515 card is backward compatible to support these. I am using WPA, my lappy sees the network but the router won't see the lappy any idea?
What I want to do now is modify the screen case and fit a webcam. My problem is that I've taken the entire thing apart, looked at the motherboard and the back of the screen and I cannot find there the webcam plug is for the stock camera.
Does anyone have any idea? The Dell disasembly guide shows a short ribbon like cable going off to the right, but I find no port for it nor does the guide give more detail.
I tried a quick search but didn't come up with anything...
On my e6400, once in a while the wifi connection is intermittent and drops out for 10-15 seconds, comes back for a while, then drops out again. This doesn't happen all of the time, but is happening now as I type this out with it on my lap.
I'll admit I haven't really tried to diagnose. This has the following wifi card:
Dell Wireless 1510 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card
Dated 6 Jan 2009 - now controls the WiFi card.
I'm just downloading it...
I have the 1505 with XP and the Intel wireless card....lately my connection blows!!
I don't know if it's because there are 3 of us on the wireless?
We have a linksys wireless router and I changed the channel to 11 just in case the neighbors (duplex) were on the same channel causing interference.
But still it will go very slowly sometimes the router is upstairs (desktop is up there) and i'm in a downstairs bedroom....it says I have a Low connection.
I called the cable company thinking it had something to do with that and it wasn't.
Is there anything I can do on my part to make it stronger possibly a program or refreshing an IP or messing with router settings?
I'm a proud owner of a DELL xps M1730 laptop. Recently I experienced using my laptop on my television screen (LG). However, recently something went wrong. When I try to establish the HDMI connection my laptop won't change it's screen to the television screen.
It changes the resolution on the laptop screen and that's it. When my friend get's here with his xps m1730 it does work for him.
I tried connect a screen trough the DELL quickset but nothing I do seems to help and it is hard to find information on the web concerning this issue. Maybe it is a very easy procedure and I misschanged some of the settings....
I have found a good alternative to Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager for my Mobile broadband connection. It's Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager.
It's very simple and worked perfectly without any configuration.
I guess it will only work with the 5530 card, though.
just hit the button on this new 24'' Dell HD monitor (got it on the deal of the day for $269)[url] ok so i was wondering, now that i have this coming, what would be the best way to connect my 1530 to it? hdmi? vga? also, how would i do use the monitor so that my laptop screen remains turned off the whole time?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI can't get sound through HDMI connection from my XPS M1530 to my TV (Samsung LCD).
Video transfers great but audio still comes through the laptop speakers.
Testing through Control Panel->Sound->HDMI->Properties->Advanced I can hear the sound through the TV speakers, however there is no audio on my TV when playing music, DVD's, videos etc.
The HDMI installed codec is from Sigma Tel.
I am trying to connect my Inspiron 1525 laptop to a NEC MT 600 projector. Having connected the cable and switched both machines on I try to switch using Fn F8 and get the message no external monitor connected.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am getting intermittently dropped wifi connection. It is a new/nearly new xps 12 convertible from the Dell outlet store a couple of months ago. I have installed all windows updates including win 8.1. My network adapter is an Intel Dual band wireless AC-7260 #2. I searched on the intel site using the auto driver function and it cannot find any new drivers there for it.
I have also set the wifi adapter to "maximum performance" whether on battery or plugged in and it happens anyway (even when plugged into AC).Is there anything I can do for this or does a technician need to replace the wifi card (or do I need to RMA the notebook)?
I cant get a connection on my laptop. It says that the connection is turned off, but I have no way of turning it back on! I have tried installing the drivers on the Dell website by entering my specific security tag, but they say they aren't compatible. I have even gone as far as to restore it to factory settings and nothing still.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOur Insprion 15 laptop initially dropped its WiFi connection (showed "No Internet Access") about 3-4 times when it was first turned on. It hasn''t happened since (3 days in use). Was this just normal - while looking for the right version of 801.1 or what?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwe purchased a few of these units and I would like to have them set so that the wired connection is the only connection showing over wireless but on these units, the laptops are grabbing two IP addresses, one for wired and one for wireless. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a xps15z and the hdmi connection suddenly stopped working about a week ago. I have tried everything I can think of to get it working again, reinstalled drivers, tried different leads, different monitors but no success yet.
The weird thing is when you plug in the hdmi lead the external monitor is detected on the nvidia control panel and the windows display settings. Also I can scroll across to where the extended screen is and drag windows over there but nothing shows up on the monitor. The monitor says there is no connection.
Relevant system specs: windows 7, nvidia Geoforce GT 525m graphics card (runs the external display), Intel(R) HD Graphics family (runs main laptop display).
My XPS just arrived yesterday, and i am having lots of trouble with the wireless connection. I have tried being close and far from my wireless box and it doesnt fix the problem. My connection is great when its working, but it disconnects for about 20 seconds very often. Its extremely anoying, and I dont want to have to return this laptop as I really like it. Is there a location where I can update my notebook to hopefully resolve the problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIts my first post and i've tried searching but cannot find the info i'm after. I got my Studio XPS13 today and installed Windows 7 64 Bit on it. I have installed all the drivers ok but i cannot get the connection software anywhere to use the WWAN.
Maybe it's late and i'm missing it somewhere but would anybody be able to point me in the right direction.
I reinstalled Vista 64-bit Business on my laptop. And I've installed all of the drivers which are working, but my wifi drops out every 20-30 minutes. I've done some research and found this isn't uncommon...
so I installed the lastest Intel drivers, disabled all of the power saving features on my wifi card/DCP.
But, it still disconnects! What the heck!? I might have had this same issue in Windows 7, but I can't really remember. All I know is that when I tried to back it up using WHS, it would always fail.
I am trying to install a Dell TrueMobile 375 Bluetooth module in my Latitude E6420. I have read the instructions in the E6420 Service Manual but it is not obvious where the other end of the cable on the 375 Bluetooth module plugs into the motherboard. The images provided in the Service Manual are of no luck, as they only show where the module goes, not where the cable on the module plugs into a corresponding socket.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just reinstalled win7 Ultimate on my 7720 (09/2012) and have 2 problems: My BT mouse (Dicota BlueLight) stops working after a few minutes, and I have to remove it, and re-pair it several times before it will actually work. Each time I pair it I'm told it's working fine, and the driver is correct, but nothing happens. Ocassionally it will actually work, but only for 3-4 minutes before simply stopping again. The Bluetooth radio is showing as Generic Bluetooth Adapter in Device Manager. Also, in Device Manager I have a USB controller showing no Driver (Location: PCI bus 0, device 20, function 0) and I cannot find an appropriate solution anywhere.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBrand New M4800 with docking station - I have ordered two new (large) monitors. In the meantime I have two old squarish VGA monitors. Because I cannot get these set up right.
On a desktop PC, I have good resolution on these old monitors - one connected via VGA-VGA cable plugged into DVI adaptor, the other connected via VGA-DisplayPort.I tried to copy this on the new laptop - I plug in one monitor using the VGA -VGA to the VGA on the back of the laptop or docking station: result is laptop display plus VGA on terrible resolution that I cannot seem to change!
Second monitor - VGA -VGA lead, but nowhere to plug in, so I got the VGA-DisplayPort adaptor and tried plugging it into the laptop's DisplayPort socket (not on docking station) - it "sees" it, but then, in display settings software, it crashes.
WHAT I NEED:
(a) Laptop lid closed, two VGA monitors at decent resolution - OR -
(b) 3 monitors: laptop display plus two TGA monitors at decent resolution.
Trying to resolve why laptop pc disconnects frequently from its wireless connection. No discernable pattern to disconnects, totally random. Happens in cycles of disconnect/auto reconnect or will go hours of stable operation. What I have noticed is tht the connection speed seems to vary, from a hig of 54.0 Mbps to as low as 2.0 Nbps. At same time the desktop pc (hard wired to modem) stays connected at 100 Mbps.
Using RCA modem, WRT 160n v3 router. Inspirion 1545 pc
I got this new computer from company IT w/ Win7 on it. WiFi conection is very weak and the speed is slow while other laptop works fine at the same location. I have updated driver of intel N-7260 but there is no improvement.
