View 4 RepliesBought this router online a couple of weeks ago. Hooked it up and all was working great til tonight. For whatever reason, there is now no blue "wireless" light burning. All the other lights including the Internet, modem, router, wired, and Security light are working. On ocassion, the wireless light flashes red on the router. Tried a manual wireless connection on the affected computer, no go. It sees the network connection but is unable to connect. I tried the rebooting of the router and modem, no go.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio XPS 13 (aka. 1340) with the stock wireless-n card. It is connected to my wireless-n D-Link DIR-655 router. In my Network Sharing Center, the connected speed only shows 130mbps.
Im pretty sure the DIR-655 is capable of 300mbps speeds. In the router config, I have it set to automatically use 20/40mhz.
Not sure if there are other config options I should be modifying.
Anyone know if it is possible to get 300mbps out of my Studio XPS 13?
Something about improving DVD ejection.
View 4 Replies View RelatedGot my XPS1640 back in June, undervolted it and never had any temperature problems and it has performed greatly. However, a few days ago I updated the GPU, bios and cpu ( i think) drivers to be more up-to-date. Got A11 (was A08) and used mobility modder for the new ATI driver.
Since then however I have had problems. CPU temperatures have been raising (around 80+ or so - before it would only reach 70 max) causing the laptop to throttle back giving me dire frame rate in games.
I have been getting BSOD seconds after waking up from a long sleep. I try sleeping it again on the restart and waking it up, but there's no BSOD. Anyone having this problem ? I checked my event viewer and this is what I got.

I have an HP dv5t Notebook with a wireless card, Belkin. I dont know much about wireless adapters so it figures I would screw this up. I was trying to play with it to see if I could turn my wireless connection into working with my Xbox 360 (long story). To simplify things, I went into the Belkin standard IP address for utilities and enabled a "local access point." Since then, I have been unable to access internet or even access the Belkin menu to disable what I did!

i am using the microsoft 8000 bluetooth wireless, other than that my cam & facial recognition does not work, i don't see any driver on Dell site for the cam. Everything else seems to work fine for now.
Just bought my Yoga yesterday and am thoroughly enjoying it. A problem I encountered was when trying to pair the Bluetooth to a Belkin A2DP receiver (essentially, it appears as a Bluetooth audio headset to the computer). Audio quality sent to the speaker is very poor. I verified that the Belkin unit was functioning properly by pairing two other Bluetooth devices and having no issues with audio playback. I also updated to the latest RealTek Bluetooth driver on Lenovo's website. Still with bad audio quality.

My computer will not automatically switch between running the internet via wireless, and running on the ethernet cable.
Here's what happens... I have the ethernet cable plugged in, I unplug it and it should automatically switch to wireless and still be connected to the router, but it doesn't.
And it does the same thing vice versa. Ethernet cable is unplugged and I am connected wirelessly to the router, I plug the cable back in and it is still running on the wireless.
I hope this is not too off topic... I have a M1710 running Vista, am wondering what peeps are using in the way of cable wireless routers? I have a Belkin N1 with WPA2 running a 50Mb cable modem... I seem to have terrible wireless throughput perhaps max 300K but when I plug into the WAN port I get the full portion... about 47000k.
I am running in mixed mode, router has latest f/w and I have tried just running in N only with no success... Anyone here have any success?
I have tried our 54g wireless router here at work and it has a 20Mb connection and I get full bandwidth.
for some reason, my sister's E6400 with the Intel 5100 AGN wifi card won't recognize and/or connect to our home wifi network anymore. my m15x (with the Intel 5300 AGN) and my iPhone have no problems whatsoever establishing connections.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy friend has a brand new Dell Inspiron N5050 that's having issues connecting to their Comcast Arris TG862G/CT router. The OS (Windows 7) 'see's' the WiFi network and when we try connecting to the WiFi network it prompts for the password - all as expected. But once its 'connected', although it has an IP the system cannot route anywhere. I cannot ping the gateway (the router), cannot perform nslookups, cannot HTTP to the router's IP etc.
WiFi for sure has been enabled via FN+F2 combination - tried toggling WiFi on & off - no change..Checked for updated drivers on the Dell website; re-downloaded the driver package from Dell - no change.Updated BIOS from A04 to A05 - no chnge..Checked for Windows updates system was already fully updated & patched - no change.I can successfully connect to my phone's WiFi HotSpot - device routes just fine.Other machines & devices can connect to the WiFi network without issue - seems unique to this N5050 machine.Ethernet connections on this N5050 work just fine
I'm not sure what else to do other than trying to revert to an older driver or checking the Intel site for drivers for the WiFi NIC. Comast say its a Windows update that broke it

why Dell keeps selling the inspiron 15r models having the faulty wireless-n 1030 card?
I've just opened the new laptop, havent installed any applications or changed any settings, only updated to the latest wifi drivers and IT just does not work.
I just bought a Acer 4720z and I connected it to my wireless router the problem I am having is that the computer keeps disconnecting from internet every few mins and then reconnect. I called acer and they are useless. The computer has Vista on it and my wireless router is a actiontec from verizon.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is my internet system: I got a VPN type of connection, i got LAN first, then a direct VPN. The provider hooked me up with those LAN settings (IP, mask, gateaway), so i HAVE to set em the local network settings before i connect, otherwise, my MAC adress gets blocked. After I have bought the laptop, I felt like makin' some Wi-Fi around; so I got MSI RG54GS2 now.
I don't know how to make all this work now, lol. I called my ISP company boss and asked him to disable the router's MAC adress' blocking, so I can free tuning my new router now.
Just gimme some advice which type of connection I should pick, where I should put my previous LAN settings n stuff like that.
a Modem/Wireless Router for MacBook Pro.
I've tried my USB modem, it's not supported by Leopard, and there are no up to date drivers that work. Apple have told me they don't support USB modems for this model (that's what they've told me anyway).
Just tried a Netopia ethernet router and although the Mac sees the connection, it still isn't connecting to the net.
My ISP is Tiscali and I'm in the UK. Any recommendations for a Modem/Wireless Router that will work with a MacBook Pro/Leopard set up, and Tiscali are gratefully received.
I didn't expect this to be difficult, but after four days and two modems I still can't get my MBP online.

no WiFi access through my Wind-stream 2 wire router. [router and modem combined] Other devices both Macbook and Dell laptop are still connecting through my router so I'm pretty sure it's in the DELL Inspiron. I can see networks in the "connect to a network" box but when I try to connect to them, it brings up a box that says unable to connect to network. Most of the time the wireless status icon shows 5 unlit bars with an orange dot over them. The only suggestion from trouble shooter is reset the router by turning it off and on. No go there. I've also reset router to factory defaults with no change.
I can connect with ethernet cable with no problem. I've tried the "flush.bat". My network adapter is- Intel® Wifi Link 5100 AGN - I've updated the driver it says it's working.I've run all of Dell's hardware diagnostics which found no hardware issues.
I have successfully turned on Internet sharing from System Preferences -> Sharing -> Internet Sharing.

I have an HP G60 Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium, it's about 4 years old. I recently got a new Cisco Linksys E1500 wireless router, which is connected to my home computer. My laptop shows that it is connected to the home network, but it will not connect to the internet. Other laptops in the house are able to connect to the network and the internet. Mine seems to be the only one not working. Why isn't it working? What do I need to do to fix it?
I've run network diagnostics. It says "A problem with you network router or broadband modem might be preventing an internet connection." I've unplugged both of these and tried again. It didn't work! I've also connected my laptop straight to the modem and it still didn't connect to the internet. I've tried resetting the network adapter. My IP settings are set to automatic.
My internet connection wasn't a problem before last week (when I got a new router).
I've been battling with this for months. Aspire one connects to router but not internet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've seen quite a few issues with Windows 8.1 and WIFI on this forum, but this one is a bit different.
I've got a brand new Aspire E 15 that came with windows 8.1. When connected to the network by cable everything works fine. When I try to connect via wifi strange things start happening.
I can see my network. I try to connect and it asks me for the security key. Then it connects. About 1 minute later it says it can't find the network. Other devices that were happily working on that networks wifi suddenly loose connectivity as well (hard wired devices don't seem to be affected). I end up having to reboot the router so wifi works for the other devices.
I made sure the Atheros AR956 adapter has the latest driver - v10.0.0.285 and all windows and acer updates are installed.
My laptop constantly loses connection to my wireless router and I'm forced to use the windows troubleshooting tool to hook up again. This can happen over and over again multiple times over the course of an hour or so. I'm using an Xfinity wireless router and have several other devices hooked up to it wirelessly that do not drop connection. These include iPhones, iPod touch, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Mac notebook. And no, they are not all accessing the wireless at the same time. I've reinstalled/updated the drivers, adjusted my power saving settings, restored the system to its factory settings -- basically everything on the troubleshooting list.

My workplace installed a router a few months ago. It's a Cisco E2000. My laptop will not recognize the wireless signal from the router. It recognizes about 10 other wireless signals from other locations outside the office. My phone also recognizes the router and can connect to it no problem. I've installed all the updates for Windows 7 and for the HP laptop. I've also installed the latest driver for the wifi card in the laptop.
Why the laptop does not recognize the wifi?
I usually have my G580 laptop hardwired to my router, so I wasn't checking wireless connectivity on a regular basis. But it won't connect anymore (it used to work).
Everything else I own workes fine over wi-fi on my Netgear router (Android tablet and smartphone, HP Windows Vista laptop, etc.).
I took my G580 laptop to McDonald's this morning and it connects to their wi-fi easily.
I updated my HP Pavilion g6-2293sa Notebook PC to Windows 8.1 advance release and the WiFi adaptor no longer connects to my router. The driver states all is working but no wifi is found; the PC crashes sometimes when running the trouble shooter.

So I went out and rought a brand new Net Gear router. Still not working. I called Net Gear and they think it's my wireless card?
Is there a way to determine for sure if its a hardware problem? Maybe I need to download a driver?
Is there a wireless switch on my laptop? Do I need to configure my new router? I'm hoping to use my Belkin router if it's just a driver problem so I can take back the new router and get my money back.

What I found quite interesting in the cnet review is that their performance testing of the Dell 1569 was second place just behind the Toshiba E205-S1904 (the other Best Buy Blue Label). I do not understand why, the specs are basically the exact same specs, EXCEPT our Dell has a 500gb 7,200rpm hard drive while the Toshiba has a 500gb 5,400 rpm hard drive. I would think, if anything our performance would be slightly better than the Toshiba because of our 7,200rpm hard drive. All the other specs are the same.
So, with that being said, why did the Toshiba have slightly better performance numbers than ours, since as I keep stating all the specs are the same except we have a faster hard drive?
