I got a Sony camcorder for Christmas. Right now I have an Sony SR with 2.53ghz processor, 320 7200 rpm HD, 4gigs of ram, and an ATI radeon HD 3470 graphics card. My AW-190 was stolen so I can get a new laptop. What do you think is the optimum setup for file transfers, fast computing, etc?
I just got a new MBP and a new Sony HDR-SR12 camera, and after recording on the camera about 10 hours of important for me video (me+wife Hawai trip, etc) I found it imposible to connect it to my MBP.
I call APPLE and they told me it's because mixed footage (I did record 2 clips in SD, and all the rest in full HD), so iMovie and Final Cut Express (which I also purchased with the MBP) is good for nothing in this case: won't import any video from the camera. FCE supports my camera (on the apple website at least) but not in my case. I erased the SD clips but nothing changed.
I ended up paying another... for Roxio Titanium Pro which says that plays AVCHD movies, but I will see after I am done downloading.
I am really pissed off, I spent like 5-6 hours trying to figure it out, calling Apple and researching the web and in the end I had to pay another $150 to make it work (probably). There are other cheaper options that crash on files over 1.2GB or have other problems. (many of my files are over that).
And to make it worse, on my PC with Win7 works like a charm, I don't even have to install Sony software or any other codecs/decoders: plain WindowsMediaPlayer does it with no problems. I also see the first frame of the movie in the Explorer, which again won't show up in Finder. I can play the files right from the camera, or copy them to HDD and run the from here, raw AVCHD with no issues.............
Today i was using my HP Pavilion dv5 Laptop(Windows-Vista H.P 32-bit) at my Uni, when all of a sudden my Applications started to freeze one-by-one.. i thought it was a mere Program error that was causing it so i started Windows Task manager, and then suddenly it Froze too! next thing.. my mouse also! everything just stopped functioning
i forced Shutdown it and then turned it on again.. then.. after a minute again my apps started to freeze again.. one-by-one.. tried it again.. same result
i tried Safe-mode.. and it worked perfectly.. but i can't figure out the cause of the constant freeze..
nothing like this ever happened before since i purchased my Laptop a year ago...
so i am deciding to Format my Laptop.. but i don't know how. Can someone explain how to Format my laptop please, i heard that there is some kind of memory in the laptop that has the Drivers and everything so i'm kinda guessing i won't need a CD or anything(..right?)
i wanna format my labtop from vista to windows xp. but when i put in the setup disk. when i choose setup, it will show, can;t detect ur hard drive. I still think it is same with dell labtop, we have to change the flash.. and ata for format windows vista to windows xp.
When I first got my HP DV7-1285dx with Vista (64) the remote control that came with it was working fine. I upgraded to the Windows 7 beta when it came out (I didn't do a clean install) and the remote was still working and kept working throughout the several beta upgrades I did later (to newer beta versions). However when the Windows 7 RC was released earlier this week I decided to do a clean install so I backed up the important drivers and files and did a clean Windows 7 install. After that my HP remote simply stopped working, the laptop won't respond to it at all (not in Media Center and not in anything else). I was able to reinstall all the drivers (from the backup) except for one which shows as "Unknown driver" in Device Manager, and when I do a driver update and point Windows to the folder including my backed up drivers, it does recognize the device as the "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor" but says it encountered an error installing the driver software since it "couldn't find the file specified."
I don't know if this "Unknown driver" is in anyway connected to the Remote Control problem. I have no other problems showing in device manager by the way.
Also in an unrelated matter, I am trying to reinstall the MediaSmart software the came with the laptop. I downloaded the packages from the HP website but they won't install (since they're only update packages and not standalone installers I guess) so is there any way to reinstall the MediaSmart software from the recovery discs/partition?
Got a new laptop a few days back (6730b), which is alot nicer than the nx7400 i had. When i got it, it came with vista business and a whole load of 'bloatware' i didnt need. so i did as i normally do and formatted the pc and re-installed vista (although XP was very tempting). I finally got round to getting everything how i want it but i've realised since formatting the battery life seems to be less than it used to be....
before the format, when the battery was full it would say i had 4hrs+ of battery life (i even remember seeing it say 5hrs once). Now it says 2hr 30 mins on 'HP optimized', 2hr 45 on power save!
I got the HP HDX16 and I want to change the OS to Vista Ultimate 64 or Windows 7 64bit RC.
Thing is, I didnt find the programs that came with the notebook at the HP website. For example, Microsoft Works, Cyberlink DVD Suite, HP recovery manager etc.
Is there any way to install them after the format? Or do I have to get stuck with Home Premium?
I have an old HP Compaq 6710b laptop and I'm trying to get Minecraft running. It ran on windows 7 a few months ago but now I upgraded to Windows 8 and I have the latest video driver on Windows Update because I can't find the video driver for Windows 8, how to get Minecraft running? Â I have the bought version of the game.
I also got it running on Ubuntu. Â Minecraft log: Â ---- Minecraft Crash Report ----// I bet Cylons wouldn't have this problem. Time: 4/26/14 1:36 PMDescription: Initializing game org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Pixel format not acceleratedat org.lwjgl.opengl.WindowsPeerInfo.nChoosePixelFormat(Native Method)at org.lwjgl.opengl.WindowsPeerInfo.choosePixelFormat(WindowsPeerInfo.java:52)at org.lwjgl.opengl.WindowsDisplay.createWindow(WindowsDisplay.java:244)at
I have this hidden partition on my notebook (aspire 6920G) and I have no idea what is it used for. I know that PQService is recovery partition but I've never heard of this. By googling I've found that HP's used to use Compaq Setup partition to boot bios (?), but this is acer. I would really like to get rid of it (because now I can't create another primary partition).
This laptop is HP dv2000t with a 120 GB SATA drive. It was setup to dual boot Ubuntu LINUX and Win Vista. I want to change it so that the only OS is WinXP and the drive will have all space in a single NTFS partition. I booted up with a utilty CD containing Win98 DOS boot files (IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, etc.) and also containing a partition manager program. I deleted all existing partitions and created a NTFS partition containing the entire 120 GB space. Then I booted with a Win XP installation CD to start installing Win XP - but the Win XP setup program says there is no hard drive installed. That leaves me dead in the water. Note: my utility CD (Win98 DOS) accesses the HD just fine. Does anybody know why the Win XP setup program thinks there is no HD installed?
This has been getting on my nerves lately. In the past, they never bothered releasing drivers for laptops but now that they do, I can't get it to work with my laptop, which is HP Pavilion 6670ee with NVidia 8400M GS...
I know that 3rd party driver will work with it but I am not able to get the PhysX support with those drivers for some reason and if I download Notebook driver from NVidia website, the latest which they released few days ago for example.
I get this error during installation:
The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.
It's NVidia's own 8400M GS - wth is it not detecting it?
I'm not able to install Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver. During Installation a message pops up saying, "The setup failed to install one or more drivers." I downloaded the latest version of the above software but still didn't work. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
I’ve just done a clean install of my Dell Vostro -- reinstalling vista and removing the recovery partition in the process. Outcome = a ‘cleaner’ machine with none of the preinstalled bloatware/c**p from Dell. (first time I’ve done anything like this, but followed a brill guide in the Dell section of this forum ).
I’m about to tackle my Mums Compaq Presario C310EA. The aim is to remove all the rubbish she has accumulated over the years, incl any spyware/ adware she may have, and generally have a bit of a clean sweep…. hopefully resulting in a faster laptop. I’m backing up her data, and moving some of my Dad’s stuff somewhere else.
Basically I want to clean up as much as poss, but unfortunately she has no xp disk, just the recovery disks (cds) she burned when she first got the laptop.
As she has no xp disk I guess the best I can hope for is to reset the laptop to the factory settings (?) .. not ideal, but I don’t think the (factory set) bloatware is too much of an issue for her – she’s not a heavy user.
Should I use the recovery partition for this, or do I need to use the cds she burned? .
I’d like to know the best approach – and can’t seem to find a set of instructions to follow.
I am both a mac and windows (only for gaming related things) user. I use an external WD passport hard 500GB hard drive for all my data. Its formated to mac journaled. This is very good for mac related work because it can handle files over 4GB. However if i have a game patch or mod I want to download in OSX and transfer over to windows via my external ( windows partition is formated in ntfs , because it was not working in fat32, i tried like 9 times) it is impossible because windows can not understand the hard drive is thier ( I have tried software to correct this but im very skeptical because it killed the file system and everything became corrupted)
I know its complicated but that was the first issue. The second issue is, I want to buy a new HDD thats fat 32. I want to keep it that way because when i formated this one to mac, it started acting a little crazy and could die any day now i think. It makes random beeps once a day and a grinding noise. This started happing right after i formated to mac journaled.
I was under Windows Seven when i got some virus problems. i format my whole HDD and start to have some problems. sometimes the computer randomly stops. Often when i'm copying files or defrag the disk. there, my laptop seems very hot. it shutdown when I play (whatever the game played the temperature are (according to SpeedFan) about 100°C))
I firstly think about dust. so i have clean by removing the trap at the bottom and cleaning the ventilation holes.
That change nothing. my computers stops 10 minutes after the game's started. but it boot right now after it stops, (i've head that in case of a too ward hardware the computer will not boot right now after it stops) metimes after a program ask a reboot and i say yes , the fan don't work at all after the reboot.
here we go......formated my laptop and removed XP, had vista on it at new but wiped it when i got it.
So i wiped it last night and reinstalled XP again, thought i had all the drivers but my device manager is showing Video Controller and Network Controller are not installed correctly.
Would the Network controller stop my wireless working because thats my main problem getting my wireless set up. I even tried resorting back to Vista with the alt-F10 buttons but all its doing is bleaping.
Can i get it back to Vista, my daughter says she wants it and where exactly do i get the drivers i mentioned i'm missing.
Once windows xp is installed do i go to control panel and set up wireless ? if i remember i'm sure it all went on automatic the 1st time i wiped it.
I had facing a problem after format my laptop. The problem is i cannot Install my Windows Vista.
I using Original Windows Vista. But my laptop cannot finish the installation. The message is Windows Error Recovery. Please leave me a message if you know why.
how do i format, cleaning my hardrive, and what will be removed, and do i need to do anything? If i format did i need t backup windows to a disk or can i format without backing anything up to disk, in otherwords everything to format is on my Laptop(Aspire 6920g)? I dont need to save files, just my saved games
I have an Acer Ferrari 3000Lmi notebook. I just replaced the hdd with a new one. it's 80GB 5400 rpm, IDE It's not formatted and it's not partitioned. My notebook is an old model, so I don't think there's a recovery partition and it doesn't have an e-empowering acer button, etc. It only comes with Acer recovery CD's.
when I put the new hdd in, it's detected in bios, so I installed Win XP Home using the Acer Recovery CD. and it didn't have option to format or to partition my hdd there. everything just ran automatically. and now I have one C: drive.
Can anyone help me on how to partition my hdd ? I prefer not to use partition magic/other programs to partition my hdd. I don't know if I have DOS. I don't mind installing XP all over again, I just don't know how to format/partition the hdd before using the recovery CD.
I have had to fdisk my laptop because of various viruses it had and a keylogger. i want to put a copy of Xp on the machine but when i try it says it cant find any hard drives, it originally had vista home on it but i got no disks with it so i can't reinstall that either? The message i get when trying to install Xp is: "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program.
I am formatting my friends hard drive and loading Windows. He wants only the basic drivers for teh notebook and none of the other Acer crap that pre installed. Can anyone tell me what these basic drivers are? Also I need to know if there is a correct order to install them in. I'm very familiar with Dell's and there is a specific order for them, but this is the first Acer I've done.
my note book is acer aspire 4920 and my Problem is i have make format for my computer and now i press alt+f10 to rostore system to factory settings but it dosent work so any one please who have acer recovery discs system , please upload these discs and give it to me please because in these discs i can repair/restore my pc to factory settings
Ive always used FAT32 for compatibility on ext. HDDs, but now i need to put a massive 100GB image on an ext. drive, how should i format the drive so that both a Macbook and an XP computer can access it?
I want to use my desktop to install XP on a notebook drive that I will then put in an Insiron 8000 notebook. It's too long to explain why I don't just use the notebook to do this.
So, is it possible to do with the PC? I assume I have to get a special type of connecting cable, but can it power the external notebook drive and can the data transfer handle a Windows full install and, finally, from where on the PC do I connect it?
I've been reading threads and guides (1, 2) on how to format and reinstall, but I have one more question:
My friend owns an Inspiron but lost his recovery DVDs. In order to format his C: and reinstall Windows from the recovery partition, he should hit Ctrl+F11 at Dell logo and follow instrucions to format?
My wifes Extensa 5620 got a virus. Office Depot removed it with MalBytes. I'm still leary of something being missed. I would really like to restore it to factory defaults.
When I go into Acer eRecovery Management I see pick the Restore tab at the bottom of the window.
Now I am given the choices to
1.Restore system factory default.
2.(Which is grayed out and option not avaialable) Restore form users backup
3.Recover from CD/DVD
4.Reinstall applaications/drivers.
So I pick 1. Restore system factory default.
Next I am asked for the empowering technology password. Well I don't have it and don't know how to get it. I would choose number 2. if it were an option. If I place the disk I made into the CD/DVD unit will the option become available? I tried option 3. and it said to place the restore disk inthe drive.
