Sep 18, 2009I have a question - what type of 3G modem does this netbook have?
What is the part name/number?
Does anybody know if it is possible to get this modem working in Linux?

I'm trying to figure out the difference between the two other than the casing (one's metal and one's plastic). The 2140 uses a SATA connector vs a PATA connector. So for $25 extra(lowest config 2140 vs highest config 1000) you get a metal case and SATA connector?
Why would anyone buy the 1000? Am I missing something? Oh and the 2140 has a higher volatage adapter for 'fast charging'...what's left for the 1000?
my cousin uses a zoom 5510a usb dsl modem for his broadband. i was able to go on internet through his laptop(vista) till now, but now hes moved out n i thnk he lost the installation cd. i wanted to know if i can find drivers anywhere else? company site only has windows drivers... n also is it possible to covert it into wireless if i buy a different router like belkin or netgear...

My second problem is that I can't seem to locate the driver package anywhere online. Could anybody point me to where I could download the leopard drivers for the modem so I can try reinstalling them?
I can dial out, but the modem will not negotiate a connection with the remote server. Every other machine in the house will do it, as will my USR external modem attached to my macbook. So its not a server side issue.
I am looking for the driver of Apple USB modem in Windows 7 64bit, can anyone guide me on this. Does the bootcamp has it?

I've tried my USB modem, it's not supported by Leopard, and there are no up to date drivers that work. Apple have told me they don't support USB modems for this model (that's what they've told me anyway).
Just tried a Netopia ethernet router and although the Mac sees the connection, it still isn't connecting to the net.
My ISP is Tiscali and I'm in the UK. Any recommendations for a Modem/Wireless Router that will work with a MacBook Pro/Leopard set up, and Tiscali are gratefully received.
I didn't expect this to be difficult, but after four days and two modems I still can't get my MBP online.
Got a new Inspiron 14z Ultrabook with Windows 8 64 bit, and I want to connect the Internet through a Huawei EC167 3G modem, running a program called "Mobile Partner". When I first install the modem it works fine, but as soon as I switch off the computer and switch it on again it stops working. The only way I get the modem working again is doing a computer refresh and re-installing the modem, but then it only works until I switch the computer off.
That Huawei modem used to work alright with an Inspiron 11z with Windows 7 64 bit.
I recently downgraded my girlfriends Acer Aspire 3680 from Vista to XP as it became apparent that this notebook couldn't handle vista well; (on a side note, this is the second aspire 3680 that I have downgraded). For some reason no matter what I do the computer does not see the internal dial-up modem. Now, as its internal there is no installation disc, I have downloaded 6 different acer aspire 3680 modem drivers from Acer support centers and not a single one worked. In the Device manager, the modem drop down is not even there. I ran the modem troubleshooter and it detected no port was found, but Ports weren't in the device manager either. This one is really stumping me and i'm tired of looking at that screen.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought my E6500. My configuration has no dial-up modem inside. (it's impossible to order custom config in my country).
This thing is not very useful nowadays, but sometimes I need it to send faxes.
My laptop has RJ11 phone line connector and corresponding 2-pin connector inside, so it should be possible to install Conexant D330 modem module, which is available cheap on eBay.
But there is one problem: I also need the orange flat flex-cable with 10 pin connector. It's shown in the E6500 service manual modem page, item #3 on picture. Right above the WWAN card. (sorry i have too few post and can't add the link, you can find it in e6500 owners lounge thread)
Can somebody remove back cover from your E6400 / E6500, and tell me the Dell part numbers of the flat cable and modem card?
It should be something like "D P/N: 123456".
I have an acer aspire 5630 laptop which I bought in October. Now I had to repartition and reinstall windows vista for some unavoidable circumstances. But I have lost all the softwares like NTI CD/DVD maker and drivers like modem. I do not know what the problem is but my dial up modem does not work. It shows something else in the modem list (Contexant) that is different from what was there originally ("HD audio"). Whether the telephone line is plugged or unplugged it shows the same error message. I mean the error message like no dial tone is shown while no telephone line plugged. Besides it does not produce the speaker sound even after enabling so which it used to do before.
Moreover, now as I have lost the softwares like NTI CD/DVD maker, how can I reclaim them as my warranty has not yet expired. (the driver is not in their website)
where can I get the drivers for modem on high definition audio on my pcg-7v2n laptop.
Also I get an exclamation point on my audio.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI updated/upgraded my G505 to Windows 8.1 this morning and now it appears that Bluetooth isn't working. I've downloaded the driver listed for the Atheros/Broadcom device, but when the install runs it says it can't find anything to install. Manually running both driver installs doesn't get me anywhere.
Is this a known issue with Win 8.1? I tried the Win 8 driver, same thing.
Cannot get online. I went into the device manager and found thefollowing:

I cannot connect to the internet to download these driversdirectly to her laptop. Can I download them to a usb from mine and transferthem? I've looked everywhere for these drivers but can't seem to navigate theDell Drivers page to find them.
I have a X1 Carbon with Sierra EM7345 WWAN modem. It is all installed perfectly - drivers etc. But id does not recognize the SIM card. I have googled a bit and I can say that:
1) I have the drivers OK, I have the WWAN network adapter etc.
2) I have inserted the SIM card correctly
The SIM card works perferctly if I use the USB 3G stick instead. So the problem is not in the SIM card. I think there is some configuraiton of the Sierra modem which should be done - to switch to 3G/2G or something.
I have an Inspiron 1720. When I purchased the laptop, it was on Windows Vista but with all of the head aches I've been getting while using Vista, I decided to switch back to XP. I got almost all drivers for my laptop except for the Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus driver.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been looking at the Mini 311 on Amazon, which is selling for $399. I'm going to send my (slow!) dv2 to my daughter for a spare laptop as soon as the Windows 7 upgrade arrives (which won't be real soon from what I'm reading!! ) Amazon says their Mini 311 has the Ion LE graphics. On the HP website though, they are selling the same system for the same price - but it doesn't have the "LE" qualifier listed. Do the newer direct-from-HP editions have the "full" Ion - or is this just an oversight by HP on their website?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know that this has the new ION chip, but how far will that go? Like what kind of games will that let you play. I know that this is far from a gaming machine but do you think it would be able to play like d2 and tf2 on low setting pretty well?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to get the HP Mini 110, but am curious as to how long the battery actually lasts, and if anyone has the 6-cell battery, how long does that last as well?
I've looked at a few netbooks already, including dell/toshiba/asus/acer, but I've fallen in love with the HP keyboard and want to go that route.
Also, i know the N270 and N280 processors are 'almost' identical, does the battery life differ on either?
I've been thinking about getting a netbook for a long time now, ever since the firsts Asus EEE was released. I was so sure to get the Sony Vaio P but now after seeing how sleek this machine is (and cheap!) I just can't get it off my mind. @_@
Here's an unboxing vid I found - [url]
The 5101 seems to have just about everything I was looking for in a netbook. It is currently available for $399. Is that a good price or are there discounts (student, etc) that would drop the price even further?
Also, is there any reason to wait? Some new hardware about to be released? Or is Windows 7 going to be worth the wait for a netbook?
I am ready to buy the HP Mini 2140 (maybe the 6 cell too). Where can I buy this right now in Vancouver, Canada? I can't seem to find any major retail stores with these in stock.
