I have won a HP Pavilion DV6-1220sb in a contest and it comes with a Dual-Core T4200 CPU running @ 2Ghz. I want to upgrade the CPU by replacing it with a Intel Montevina Core 2 Duo T9600 CPU.
I cannot reach the CPU by removing the lids from the bottom or by removing the keyboard.
i'm trying to upgrade my RAM and a system scan earlier from www.crucial.com revealed that i've got 2 spare slots (i'm surprised!) i could insert.
it is my 1st attempt to upgrade a RAM on a notebook. Warranty has expired and heck, it's time to learn! I've flipped to the back of the laptop and taken out 2 screws (labelled with mem), only i've got existing 2x 256mb RAM.
Is there 2 more slots where i need to take out the top cover? Tried to remove many other screws (including the ones labelled keyboard) but couldn't quite pry open the front lid (where the keypad is). Or I shld just chuck aside the existing RAM slots behind (assuming that crucial scan did a mistake on the available 2 slots).
This laptop has a t6600 processor that does not support virtualization. I have Windows 7 pro installed and I need to run some things in XP mode for work. Can I just upgrade to a p8700 processor? Will the BIOS have to be changed?
my computer has an AMD Turion mobile 64 ML-34 Processor and that the properties of the ml-34 are the same as the ml-37 (2.0ghz instead of the 1.8ghz). I installed the new ml-37 processor and well it didnt work. The screen will not come on with the new processor.
SO i put the old chip back in, but I have no idea what to do now, to get the new processor to work.
I have some issues with my video since I upgrade the nvidia drivers from the nvidia web site. I removed the drivers and I reinstalled the original ones with the same results.
Does the Windows drivers upgrade also upgrades the video firmware as well?
The laptop is supposed to have a 64 Bit CPU. I tried to free upgrade from Win 8.0 to Win 8.1 but I get the message that I cannot upgrade because my CPU is not capable of the upgrade because of something missing from the CPU like NX or SSE.
HP, somehow forgot to inform the owners or the customer base of this defect. Hoping to not have any problem, I have lost my previous OS, Win XP Pro. There is not even a driver for Audio for Win 8.0.
My HP Pavilion dv6 SD card reader is not working after windows 8 upgrade (6 months ago). Previously it was working fine when I was using Win 7 (which is the default OS with this laptop). I cant find the device in Device manager (under System Device or Disk Drives).
I have upgraded from win8 to win8.1 on my HP Pavilion model 15-e011nr. I can't reboot and get to the desktop. The notebook PC goes into a cycle of automatic repair, then gives a choice to restart or try advanced options. I tried to use F8 or delete to go into safe mode. Do you hold the key down or continue to press it repeatedly while the computer is starting up? Or is there another method to get to safe mode.
I have an HP Pavilion dv5 that cam,e with Win 7 Home Premium. I have upraded the OS to Win 7 Ulitimate.
I now am going to sell the dv5 and want to install the Win 7 Ultimate Upgrade on a different computer. Do I have to deactivate the Win 7 Ultimate upgrade license, or can I just restore the dv5 to factory condition using the Recovery Drive .
And then just install the Win 7 Ultimate Upgrade on another computer?
I was happily connecting to my home wifi yesterday evening before my HP Pavilion g7 notebook updated to windows 8.1. Now I can only connect via ethernet cable.
I phoned Microsoft Support and was told that my wifi driver was out of date and that this needs to reinstalled. I have had a look at available downloads for network drivers but I am unsure how to establish which one I need.... there are 4 options.
Under Device Manager > Network Adapters, there was only one driver which needed update according to this. The Realtek PCle FE Family Controller. When I checked for updates here is said that it had updated successfully, but I am STILL unable to connect to the internet.
I have an HP Pavilion 15z p000 with Beats Audio running Windows 8.1. I want to upgrade the memory (RAM), but I don't see any access panels on the underside of the notebook that would make it easy to change the memory cards. I didn't find any diagrams or instructions in the user manual, and I haven't found any way videos on the internet. I'm pretty handy with computers and upgrading hardware, so I'm not afraid of taking things apart and putting them back together.
I brought HP pavilion n010tx with windows 8 and I upgraded to windows 8.1 after that I Can't reduce my brightness in my laptop and it shows brightness adjustment is unavailable....
i upgraded from Windows 7 Home premium to Windows 8 pro . Eversince, my AMD radeon HD 7400M series graphic card is not functioning. Further , bluetooth is also not functioning .
System: HP Pavilion DV4-1125nr Notebook PC Product#: FR922UAR#AB System Board Id: 30F7 BIOS Version (before update): F.12 OS: Windows 7
I tried to upgrade the BIOS to F.55 which was provided by HP. After successfull installation of new BIOS windows shutdown properly. I start the PC again, HP Logo appears, and then nothing happen. The OS does not load or boot at all.
I also tried to boot using Windows 98 Second Edition CD (to load DOS) but this also did not work.
The wifi orange light does not change to white light after upgrading to windows 8 OS from windows home premium. i am using pavilion dv6-7011tx laptop, my product no. is. B0P39PA#ACJ this is very frustating as theres no wifi as well as bluetooth connectivity, the wireless button key solution is useless.
After upgrade to 8.1 HDMI port didn't work. Followed instructions to correct BIOS and graphice driver; HDMI works - however Silverlight no longer working with DMS.
Get error 6036 in Silverlight which is Graphics device's driver certificate is invalid
Have checked graphics driver and is all up to date
Machine is HP Pavilion 11 x2 Graphics driver version 10.18.10.3366
I own a "Dragon" and was wondering what the best CPU is out there right now for it? I've been hearing about this X9100. if I can put that in this computer?
I have a DV6 1150ei 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7450 3 MB Level 2 cache ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 512MB memory 3Gb DDR2 Ram running on VistaHP
3dMark06 gives me 3333 WEI has 4.7 for Win graphics,5.0 for gaming graphics, rest are 5.1 and over.
With the other card available with the DV6 the ATI Radeon HD 4650 it seems like i should be able to double the above 3dMark06 score according to [url].
What i'm thinking of doing is getting parts & changing to
Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile processor T9900 - 3.06GHz (Penryn-MV, 1066MHz front side bus, 6MB total Level-2 cache. (Part # 570434-001)
System board (motherboard) - For model with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics, 1GB memory (Part # 518431-001)
CPU fan and heat sink assembly (Part # 518435-001)
I THINK the 4650 and the T9900 is as high as i can go without risking a bios issue as their both available on a DV6 CTO and appear to use the same bios(F.24A).
To stick to a "P" series processor i would need to go with P8800@2.6GHz. 4650 is still only 64bit so has anyone gotten a better ATI card to run in a DV6? (EDIT: wrong, the 4650 is 128bit)
I've got an HP 530 with a Intel Core2 Duo 1.60 GHz 2MB cache, 160GB HDD, 2GB RAM. I want to know how much RAM I can put in the laptop? I was thinking about upgrading to 4GB if possible. I can't find any support pages that tell me the maximum upgrades.
I just purchased a brand new HP DV7-1232nr laptop.
-what does the "nr" suffix mean on this model?
-What caddy part number do I look for if I want to install a 2nd hard drive?
-I see there is a plug on the bottom side, under the cover to install a tuner. What can I install there and can I pop the small circular cover off where an antenna would connect near the power plug on the right side?
-What other options, upgrades, or mods can I do to this model?
I was wondering what is the best CPU that I am able to upgrade to with my HP DV9305tx, T7200? And also what RAM is recommended? As I've still only got the stock 2GB.. Same goes with the hard drives. I'm guessing that's about all that I can upgrade?
Even though this laptop has suffered from heat issues, it's been a great work companion for the last few years, and is perfect for my design work, so I really don't want to upgrade to a new laptop, but I DO need a little more speed if it's possible.
1) When my wife bought me this laptop back in 2005, it did not come with internal wireless, therefore no antennas behind the display. I see that the parts are on eBay for relatively cheap, so has anyone added Antennas behind their display? Or should I just get the antennas that stay in the base?
2) I just ordered a processor off eBay for $15 to upgrade from my Celeron M 1.4 GHz to Pentium M 1.6 GHz. I found the HP manual on how to replace the CPU, but I was wondering if there were any steps I could cut out? It has me removing the keyboard, key switch cover, and a lot of other things that don't seem necessary. Has anyone done this type of upgrade?
i am a DV5 (1009TX) user from Oz (but not aussie....so excuse language mistakes) .. i bought this laptop (against my better judgement...because i enjoy desktops for their upgradeability (not to mention the cost effectiveness of their upgrades) anyways....i wanted something along the lines of the DV5 (with the T9400/4GB/9600M GT [ouch] ) so that i could eke out some playability with GTA4..... which i am ...ok to say...that it is moderately playable till now on the low-middish visuals
thing is i wanted to modify this laptop to some degree (i do not want to rip out it's guts) and wanted your help
can we install a second SSD/HDD INTO the chassis of this laptop (DV5 aka 15"..ie would it have place to install another hdd internally)
if i were to install a 2/4GB SDHC class 6/4 card, would it be just as effective as a readyboost USB drive or a turbo mem from intel
is the turbo mem installable in this PC, i have 2 slots of PCIex1 available acc. to everest.. (i know HP doesn't like intel, and gave up support for this seemingly annoying tech....but just for mod's/bragging rights)
SSD as an express drive (any real experiences with it....cuz this would be a secondary option if i were not able to install it inside the chassis.... would it retain it's features (being bootable and fast) if it were to be used as such ( i have read a non techie review that PERHAPS it would not be quite so effective...
