i am trying to do for over one week . The problem is that i didn't even see the windows xp startup screen until now . My problem stats like this :
I insert the cd , setup begins and right after the txt mode drivers are loadead and until the hdd recognision should start , when the bar is prompting windows is starting ... blue screen 0x0000007B .
Ok now let's start resolving the problem .. nlite sata drivers , 4 whole days . i think i tryed every last piece of driver i could find . I think now i am able to make a whole collection of windows XP cd's but none of them worked.

I have inspiron 15r se with 1TB HDD.
I would like to add a mSATA card to my system to be able to use IRST.
I am skeptic because I have read online that systems which were not shipped with 32 GB mSATA card, doesn't have mSATA port for later installation.
When I purchased the system at that time dell had the option for adding 32 GB mSATA card in the customization section, but now dell has removed the whole customization section from the website. And in the pre-configured models, there is no option for mSATA card.

Bought a refurb T400 and installed a PNY SSD in it. It POST's okay and I can access bios. I can also read/install Linux from DVD just fine.

Trouble is when I insert my win7 home premium DVD into the drive and boot it, I get POST and then I get a black screen. It seems to be reading the drive and when I interrupt with the Esc key or open the DVD drive, I get a Windows menu explaining that the installation has been interrupted.

I've looked at the bios options and can't see anything obvious that should be changed.Â

I want to install XP on it but some people told me it's imposible because dv6 doesn't have xp drivers ?

I have brought a new dell studio 1435 laptop and they provided me with default windows vista home premiun OS.
I have installed windows XP professional OS after changing the BIOS settings for onboard devices (In BIOS:
Onboard Devices -> Flash Cache Module -> Set Off
Onboard Devices -> SATA Operation -> Set ATA)
Can i will be able to install the windows vista OS after installing windows Xp with the same BIOS settings for onboard devices (In BIOS:

Right before I used my recovery partition on the Envy 6 i bought less than a month ago, I tried setting group policy in order to take control of my Administrator account. I got an error message: "Group Policy is not a feature of this edition of Windows 8.1."

I have experienced security issues My Envy 6 (in my opinion, nothing to envy about it...) since I got it.  Â

What happens, first and foremost, is that someone other than I hijacks my computer and starts using my machine as a distributed resource. When I look at the resource monitor, memory usage stays at a steady level around 30%; the Window for the disk (Disk 0, I presume) stays at about 100%, for many minutes after I start working. There is evidence that copies of the countless Apps are being pushed through that channel to someone unknown to me.Â

In other words, it is as if I were working in a large company where administrators are able to share my computers memory and storage (and also, copies of programs on my machine) with others.Â

Yesterday, the fourth time I used my security partition, (after I had looked in the Task Manager and seen more than 50 tasks scheduled to run only when the machine was idle and it was on AC power) I decided to see what would happen if I let the fully charged battery work.Â

What I saw was a machine freaking out. I saw a sequence of screen shots first four, then a flash of a task checklist, then a series what looked like screen shots again--this time fourteen of them. I watched this happen three different times. Then, the machine prompted me for a "Capital A Administrator" password, which I did not have.Â

I looked around at resources here and at Windows, and discovered that I could access boot options by turning on the machine and pressing the Escape key. I ran through the list of options there, and finally chose EFI, where I eventually dsicovered two different ways to boot to an unknown internet address. That's when decided another tip to Geek Squad was in order (I bought their service contact when i bought the machine, what the heck). This time there was pretty much incontrovertible evidence that something was wrong at the Internet security level.

I realized this is way to much information. I will simply once again ask the question: Is it possible that my brand new machine really does have an edition of Windows 8.1 that doesn't include the capability for group Policy management? Â

Realizing that my computer is now a little over 2.5 years old, I had a little time to think about whether I should even think about going over to a brand new notebook. Given the specs of new notebooks these days (and a lot of people know here that I spend quite a bit of time at the HP website/FTP), I was wondering what everyone here thinks about me going for a Quad Edition notebook.
In case you're wondering, I use my dv6500t notebook extensively mainly because I am a UCSD Computer Science/Engineering student who does a lot of activities on the computer both casually and for work, for a good portion of the day, everyday. If I get a new notebook, I plan on using it extensively as well.
The specifications for the dv6500t that I currently use is listed in my sig. It additionally has a 12-cell battery which at this moment can only charge up to 58%, and a rather broken left TouchPad button. Warranty is pretty shot at this point, since I had the 1-year standard (which I have no regrets with).
Now, the Quad Edition notebook that I was specifically looking at was the pre-customized HP Pavilion dv6-2190us notebook:...........

Does anyone have experience with the dv4t Special Edition?
I've been researching pretty hard for a while now, as I'm getting a laptop as a graduation present, and I keep coming back to this one. I really like the specs on it (4gb RAM + 400gb hard drive) since I do a lot of digital art and photography work, and even small things like the memory card reader. The estimated battery life is good, and most of the reviews I can find have been positive.
I was just wondering if you guys had any extra input on this- I've seen the dv4 owner's lounge, but the Special Edition seems like a fairly different computer. I want to be absolutely sure I'm making the right decision!
Oh, and Best Buy seems to have a much better deal than the HP site right now. Does this look good, or is there anything crucial I'm missing that I'd be better off custom ordering for?
Also, Windows 7. Presumably I will want to upgrade to this when it comes out. Are there any future upgrade offers I should be aware of? I seem to recall reading something about this, but I don't remember exactly what.

I've found a deal on craigslist, supposedly this laptop is in perfect condition and I can get it for $300, however I've read that it usually runs into a lot of problems like, overheating, and screens that just stop working. Also notice, that they discontinued the product.
So, should I just avoid this, not worth the risk?

installing Windows XP on my HP Pavillion Dv2100. Windows could load with Native Sata disabled but when I try to enable it, it gives me a BSOD during the Windows loading screen. I tried doing the steps on [url] and it still doesnt work.
I also tried reinstalling Windows with Native Sata enabled but it says Windows cannot detect a hard disk. Tried reinstalling using a Flash Drive with Windows installed using WinToFlash and it said "Ntldr is missing".

Any views on the differences (and value) between HP Envy 15 and HP dv6t Quad Edition?
As far as I can see, with the maximum upgrade options selected below, for an additional ~US$1,300 all the Envy 15 gives you over the dv6t Quad is: 16GB DDR3 RAM instead of 8GB (valued as $500 difference on the Envy 15 customisation page) 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4830 instead of 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M external vs internal optical drive (query whether this is an advantage, weight vs convenience) 1920x1080 instead of 1366x768 display extra 9 cell battery (valued as $125 difference on the Envy 15 customisation page) it's a bit thinner, lighter and 'prettier' What do you think? Is all this really worth $1,300? (Or if you accept the values given by HP of the extra RAM and battery, is $675 a fair price differential for the HD4830, higher display resolution and overall build?)
As a follow-up question, what do you think of these specs generally - or is it worth waiting for further customisation options for the Envy 15 (eg, the dual SSDs in RAID 0 promised by all the HP marketing) and for eventual price drop (when will either of these occur)?

I just buy HP Pavilion 14-D002TX, i can't find the right driver for the Wireless, i've already try many wireless driver from your official site. I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ56-112SA Notebook which has WIndows 7 Home Edition OS. I would like very much to install Ubuntu 12.04 OS on its own partition to dual boot with Windows. However, my understanding is that the Notebook has 4 primary partitions on the HDD that are already used and therefore no more partitions can be made. I can shrink the 'C' drive partition to make space but I understand I also have to free up a whole partition. I know I can install Ubuntu 'Inside' Windows but I would rather not.

Some contributors say one can safely delete HP-Tools to provide a partition for Ubuntu but others advise not to because HP-Tools contains a BIOS recovery kit which, they say, is essential.

Just checked the website cause I caught something at the corner of my eye as I was getting drivers for my laptop.
But does the dv6z artist edition have it's own theme? By the looks of this, it might just be for the website, but anyone who bought this have this theme installed? I'm guessing they used some type of software such as Stardock WindowBlinds or something similar.

I got problem with dell laptop, its 2 year old laptop which got stuck on Starting Windows screen ,not able to proceed further.
After checking several posts I tried all the options but it dint work. I tried running diagnostic , I got error message

hard drive 0 self test log contains previous error.
I run the custom Test and I got this same message .in the custom window where is shows Result I checked the Help tab where I got this message

Disk Drive stores large quantities of computer software and data. The contents of disk drive is preserved when computer is powered off.
Is there any problem with hard disk ?? Is it corrupted ?? Do I need to Replace it ??

I've got an HP HDX X18, it was working perfectly for almost a year, purchased in jan 2009. If anyone could help diagnose my problem i would be thankful. First I've got a BSOD after restart an unusual beep sound than OS freeze. After 2nd restart my laptop does not start not even boot up, black screen no error appear no change in display. The disk LED blinks orange a few times, no other response. CAPS and NUMlock lights are on, not blinking cpu fan seems to be working. Before BSOD i installed EVGA Precision for temp monitor (NOT for overclocking!). Also as suggested by HP support, reseated the RAM. Screen still blank. No idea if there is disk activity but that should not stop from entering the BIOS, if Im right.

I'm thinking about diving into the purchase of the HP dv8t, everything about looks good on paper except that the video card is a bit anemic.
I want to know if the motherboard uses the MXM standard and if the GeForce GT 230M inside is upgradeable in the future or is it soldered onto the motherboard?

I installed some windows updates to my computer. The next time I turned on my computer it didn't act normal at all. It went to a start-up repair screen which scanned for a long time only to tell me "start-up repair cannot fix this computer" so I shut down and left my computer. I called Dell's support line and talked with technical assistance, the guy had me run some tests and in the end told me that there was nothing wrong with the hard drive and that it was my systems software that was the problem. didn't wanna restore at that point because wanted to save my pictures.
I ended up taking the hard drive out, transferring pictures onto my brothers computer and then I did a full system restore ( by tapping f8, choosing repair my PC, then choosing "Dell data safe restore and emergency backup" in the system recovery options screen. ) This actually worked and I restored my computer, however after installing updates again (quite a few too, when I shut down my computer it said installing update 1 of 72?! )
My computer went back to the start up repair screen and did the same thing as before. restored my computer one more time, and now again after updates were installed my computer will not work correctly. I do have the windows product key under the battery but would like to know how I can fix this problem. Will have to reinstall my windows software?

I just bought a new hp zbook 15 that comes with FreeDos and I bought Win7 Home Premium SP1. I installed the windows and it works until i try to connect to the internet. It says "no connection available" and the icon has a red x on the bottom right. When I checked the "device manager", I saw that i don't have either the network controller nor the ethernet controller.
