Just bought the 3521 Inspiron touch screen. Two questions:Does the touch screen require a screen protector? Many different answers. Would like your opinion! The outside cover shows fingerprints (even with clean hands). Can the outside cover be replaced to a different color or type (that doesn't show fingerprints)?
Is anyone using one? I know that companies like invisibleshield do custom sizes and there are a lot for the xps 1330 bu I wasn't sure how it would look because of the edge to edge screen!
Anyone know of a good screen protector/scratch protector for the 1340? Not the case, but for the screen itself? It would be awesome if someone made an antiglare screen shield....
what about those clear bumper/riser things that keep the screen from being scratched while it is closed by the keyboard
I've seen them on the forums before.......anyone have a link .....
Seems I get headaches or at least eye strain from staring at my Mac Book Pros glossy screen all day.
I've always spent way to much time on my LapTops over the years & I know that in its self is not good for your eyes, But it seems that this glossy screen is making it much worse.
I dont remember dealing with this with the Mat ( non-glossy screens ) before.
Might this glossy screen be doing this? Should I get a film for it?
I just got mine last week & started with some video editing today & after a few hours, I can feel it in my eyes... Should I get a matt screen cover or maybe one of those Crystal film screen covers, Like this one? [url]
I've wanting a laptop for almost 5 months now and I simply am having problems choosing between the 15" MBP, Sony Z, and Dell M4400. I am extremely indecisive and I want to make the good decision. I like to have portability, power, and a decent looking laptop.
I'm really leaning towards the 15" MacBook Pro because it fits almost everything what I want in a laptop BUT I simply cannot fathom starring a glossy screen for the next few years. For everyone who has a MacBook Pro, how is the glossy screen? I know I won't be using the laptop outside in the sun, but I could be in a sunny kitchen or living room and I do not want to strain my eyes with glare and reflection. Can anyone make me feel better about this glossy screen?
Also, I plan to use Windows Vista 90% of the time.
Does anyone know if the new right click button is supported with Vista?
Any other problems from using Vista as my primary OS on the MBP?
Do I have to logout to switch graphics mode in Windows... or is that just for OSX?
Is there still an issue with the laptop acting funny with maxing out the ram at 4GB?
As I'm 100% sure I want the older intel santa rosa macbook pro, I was just wondering if there were models with the glossy screen? I want a matte screen as I tend to sit outside with my laptop, so how will I be able to differentiate between the two?
I have recently been getting pretty severe eye strain and headaches (migraines) after spending too much time online. Has anyone here experienced any eye strain or headaches from their Macbook Pro Glossy Screens?
I never used to get these with my older Macbook Black that I had. The screen on my new Macbook Pro looks great and colors are excellent but the eye strain is really bad and I am wondering if anyone has these problems with their Macbook Pro Glossy screen and if it is any better with the regular Macbooks (Macbook White) compared to the Macbook pros??
I was thinking that the Thinkpads would be better for having less eye strain compared to the Macbook Pro 15" glossy screens so I asked a question in that forum as well to get some feedback from the Thinkpad users. I am now thinking of getting a Thinkpad laptop or a regular Macbook because of the eye strain and headaches I get after spending too much time looking at my Macbook screen.
I'm considering buying a Dell e6400 or Dell e6500. I'd prefer the I'd prefer a 15.4' screen. However, if I get that I feel like I probably should get a higher res than the basic 1280 x 800. Ideally I want 1440 x 900.
The problem is Dell only seems to offer the higher resolution in a glossy screen on either model (at least in Canada) - "UltraSharp™ Wide WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display-Brushed Metal Black". I spoke to Dell and they said it's something in b/w an anti-glare screen and a consumer glossy screen, but I'm not sure what to make of that.
I'm wondering if anyone has this type of screen and can tell me what their experience has been? How glossy is it?
I mainly will use my laptop for writing and office work - in coffee shops, offices or the library - so I don't like have a screen that is reflective. I much prefer an anti-glare screen. I've thought about just buying the e6400 with the anti-glare 1280x800 LED screen, but like I say, would prefer to get a bigger screen if possible, so wanted to see how glossy these screens really are.
The screen will be used for photo editing so accurate colors and good contrast are a must.
I do fair bit on on site editing and that sometimes means outdoors so antiglare would be great, but I'd rather hunt down dark shades with the glossy if it means superior display.
Oh and any advice on ordering? Is ordering by phone better? Lots of people seem to do this instead of ordering online.
I have bought a DV5T Notebook 1 month back from US and now i am India, there is physical damage on the LCD screen and i am sure teh LCD screen got broken. When i tried to call HP India Customer Care people, they have said this model is not available in INDIA and they cant do service. And when i chatted with HP US customer care people they said it charges $700 for repair which i dont think to pay as i can buy new Notebook.
where I can find a "TPU" keyboard protector for the Sony Vaio VPC-Z (EU model?). The only one I can find is on eBay but it's only for US models (different enter button) so won't fit... I know this keyboard is really going to become shiny quick because it really holds onto oil badly. It's a lovely keyboard to use, but it really picks up oil a lot more than my older Z21.
I have a problem with the Finger Print Control Centre, in that I cannot open the application. I can open 'Edit Fingerprints' (User Enrolment) and other menu items, but not 'Start Control Centre'.
This is the same if I select from taskbar, from start menu, from windows explorer (ctlcntr.exe) and also if I run it as administrator. I have upgraded the Protector Suite to version 5.8.2 but am not sure if this is the cause. I have downgraded back to 5.6 (Sony version) but the symptoms are the same.
The application flashes briefly as if it is opening but closes again immediately(less than 1 second).
The only bit of the problem driving me nuts is the inability to open Control Centre, as I want to change some settings.
im looking for a keyboard overlay, you know like screen protector for my keyboard, there was a link to purchase them off ebay months ago but its now a invalid item.
Disclaimer: If I am breaking any forum rules by posting links of ebay or my flickr site, I apologize in advance. I am also in no way affiliated with this user selling the item and do not take any form/type of credit from the seller. I am simply a customer on ebay reviewing a product I have purchased.
After reviewing a lot of complaints about the chassy/keyboard/wrist-rest scratching the screen, I simply had to get a screen protector for this really expensive investment. I've purchased all kinds of screen protectors from ebay and only found one that does not burden me with negatives. I wanted to make it seem as though there is NO screen protector on my screen. So I purchased the below and boy was I surprised.
(I removed the ebay link, just to avoid breaking forum rules, so instead, search "Anti-Glare Screen Protector 13.1 SONY VAIO Z Series")
I purchased two of these. Because if I screw up with one, i'll have a backup. Fortunately for me, I was able to put this one my screen with only ONE tiny bubble, which is on the corner of my screen. Everything was flushed and fit perfectly...
Does anybody in this forum own a Dell Latitude E6400 ATG laptop? If so, could you write, whether it's display is glossy or matte.
I asked many Dell sales people, which confirmed that it is matte. Now I bought one and I am very disappointed about the display, because its quite glossy and not matte at all.
So if you have this laptop too, it would be interesting to find out, if its matte or glossy. Perhaps you could even put some pictures online
Is anyone here familiar with the "finish" option on the Studio? I was told over the phone that if I get black or white, it will come in a glossy finish, and if I get one of the colors, it will come in a textured matte finish. I prefer the matte finish, because glossy plastic finishes are a big problem---my palms stick to the plastic.
So I had the Upek fingerprint reader on my old M1530 and loved it but the new SXPS 1640 I have only came with the Facial Recognition and it blows. I was thinking about getting a upek usb fingerprint reader and buying the PS software, but I was wondering if it will run fine on my system and whether or not it would be worth it?
It literally burns my left leg! Seeing as how I want to have kids in the near future, I figured I should get a notebook that runs cooler!
My wife's XPS M1330 is much cooler and has a beautiful LED screen. Can someone recommend one of the Dell laptops with the best looking screen in relation to colors/brightness
Unable to use laptop as when I log in the screen goes black and I can only see my cursor, I can press ctrl, alt, delete and I can see again but other than that it stays blank, how can I fix this?
