where I can find a "TPU" keyboard protector for the Sony Vaio VPC-Z (EU model?). The only one I can find is on eBay but it's only for US models (different enter button) so won't fit... I know this keyboard is really going to become shiny quick because it really holds onto oil badly. It's a lovely keyboard to use, but it really picks up oil a lot more than my older Z21.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've never had a Vaio but I just wondered, does Sony replace the palm wrests under normal wear and tear?
I ask this because I hear a tiny bit of creaking in my right palm rest and the computer is only a few weeks old. I am worried this will get worse.
I also purchased and invisible shield to put on the palmrest but what is Sony's policy on palm rests?
I have a problem with the Finger Print Control Centre, in that I cannot open the application. I can open 'Edit Fingerprints' (User Enrolment) and other menu items, but not 'Start Control Centre'.
This is the same if I select from taskbar, from start menu, from windows explorer (ctlcntr.exe) and also if I run it as administrator. I have upgraded the Protector Suite to version 5.8.2 but am not sure if this is the cause. I have downgraded back to 5.6 (Sony version) but the symptoms are the same.
The application flashes briefly as if it is opening but closes again immediately(less than 1 second).
The only bit of the problem driving me nuts is the inability to open Control Centre, as I want to change some settings.
where I can find a brandnew original one?
View 6 Replies View RelatedDisclaimer: If I am breaking any forum rules by posting links of ebay or my flickr site, I apologize in advance. I am also in no way affiliated with this user selling the item and do not take any form/type of credit from the seller. I am simply a customer on ebay reviewing a product I have purchased.
After reviewing a lot of complaints about the chassy/keyboard/wrist-rest scratching the screen, I simply had to get a screen protector for this really expensive investment. I've purchased all kinds of screen protectors from ebay and only found one that does not burden me with negatives. I wanted to make it seem as though there is NO screen protector on my screen. So I purchased the below and boy was I surprised.
(I removed the ebay link, just to avoid breaking forum rules, so instead, search "Anti-Glare Screen Protector 13.1 SONY VAIO Z Series")
I purchased two of these. Because if I screw up with one, i'll have a backup. Fortunately for me, I was able to put this one my screen with only ONE tiny bubble, which is on the corner of my screen. Everything was flushed and fit perfectly...
if i can uninstall anoying protector suite from my new VAIO Z series and is it safe to do it?
I dont use sensor,fingerprints etc...
Only thing im concerned is that this app has something to do with computer performance and passwords so im still holding on it.
Is anyone using one? I know that companies like invisibleshield do custom sizes and there are a lot for the xps 1330 bu I wasn't sure how it would look because of the edge to edge screen!
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy friend got one for his and sent me a pic and it looks kind of interesting, but I'm worried about the glue.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAnyone know of a good screen protector/scratch protector for the 1340? Not the case, but for the screen itself? It would be awesome if someone made an antiglare screen shield....
what about those clear bumper/riser things that keep the screen from being scratched while it is closed by the keyboard
I've seen them on the forums before.......anyone have a link .....
I'm looking for the best keyboard protector (silicone) and best hard case that snaps onto the laptop.

The colour is still there but looking at it on an angle with a light you can see that the shiny-ness is fading . I'm a student in secondary school and i dont work so i dont have a very good budget to work with... Is there anything i can do to prevent my shiny silver palmrest turning into a grey dull piece of plastic,
View 11 Replies View RelatedDoes your left palm rest heat up alot? I didnt notice it before but these past few days its been feeling pretty hot...
View 7 Replies View Relatedwhen I use my HP Bluetooth mouse the right palm area of the laptop gets really hot. Has anyone else experienced this? Is is normal? That area does not seem to get hot when using the trackpad, just the BT mouse.
I think I'm going to switch to a non-bluetooth wireless mouse.
I was cleaning my MBP today and I notice that at certain light angles, I can notic fading/discoloration in the finish where my palm normally rests. It's sort of the same effect as rubbing fine sandpaper over a painted surface.
I took pictures but it can't be noticed in pictures.
I think an investment in a palm gaurd would be worthwhile.
Just FYI.
I just made the long-coveted switch to the Mac world and I ended up getting the 13" white macbook just this past Sunday.
Long story short, I had to fill out a questionnaire for something, pen had spilled some ink into my hand, unknowingly, and I went back to my computer to finish typing up this report, took my hand off and then BLAMMO, blue ink stain.
I did a search and saw recommendations of toothpaste and isopropyl alcohol. Would these be good to try out or are there other remedies you guys can teach me?
I swung by the apple store recently, and checked out their 15" mbp (since the 17" wasn't/isn't in store yet). I put my hand over the palmrest to check out the keyboard layout and that particular laptop's left side palm rest area was pretty darn hot!
This brought up 2 concerns:
1) With the heat and the skin/oil contact with the aluminum surface, will that ruin the paintjob faster? is there even a paintjob or is the silver color the aluminum's natural and only color?
2) Regardless if the paint comes off or not, is there a way to make it cooler and more comfortable to type/game on? For those that play fps games or WoW, we all know our left hand is pretty much in the same spot, and if our wrists are constantly getting a spa treatment, it's not going to be very comfy. I know there was that ilap whatever thing you place under the laptop to diffuse the heat from concentrating on your laps, so I wonder if there's something like that for the hands.
im looking for a keyboard overlay, you know like screen protector for my keyboard, there was a link to purchase them off ebay months ago but its now a invalid item.

after a few months of heavy usage i noticed the aluminum band was beginning to pit.
i use my computer for web design so i am on it hours on end. the pitting began as a few dots, and i tried to use the computer with my external keyboard to prevent more damage
There is any trick to easily remove the stickers from the palmrest without leaving a mess with all the glue in the palmrest, or risking damaging the palmrest in the removal process ?,

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just received a new T430 less than a week ago, and ever since I first handled it, the left palmrest has been making clicking/snapping sounds even under light pressure. Just bought the 3521 Inspiron touch screen. Two questions:Does the touch screen require a screen protector? Many different answers. Would like your opinion! The outside cover shows fingerprints (even with clean hands). Can the outside cover be replaced to a different color or type (that doesn't show fingerprints)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI designed this Skin for my 13 MBP, and I also had designed one for my moto droid. so shipping was free, the MBP was 30 and the Droid was 20. It took a little bit of patience to install but overall not that bad.
Quality was decent, it looked like there was a little crease in the skin, but it went away after installing it. The skit itself seems pretty tough it seems to fit well. Took these pics with my Droid, so they arent top notch

I have a bit of problem with the touchpad on my vaio laptop
in my house downstairs when my laptop is plugged in and placed on the floor or surface the touchpad becomes un useable really slow but as soon as i disconnect the psu the touchpad works.
in another room all works ok and when the laptop is plugged in upstairs all is ok.!!! even on the carpet
One solution mentioned on NBR was the improved insulation - but there may be another one.
Or maybe the "mad mouse" is static and the inverted mouse is something else.
My laptop was gettig very bad with the inverted mouse - and it didn't seem to be static related.
I just did some googling - [url] this seemed promising (the detailed driver analysis for XP) - unistalling of the touchpad driver to be specfic
I ujst did it and my mouse is no longer inverted - of course I loose some functionaltiy too (scrolling etc.)
But tapping works, and clicking too and moving the mouse.
I hope I'll remember to drop back in at a later date to tell you how it works out - it the mouse no longer inverts without the Alps driver.
My SZ is a SZ71VN/X
No, the inverted mouse is back
its possible that Vaio Alps touchpad drivers are outdated.
The left button of my touchpad does not work anymore! If someone has encountered a problem like this and has come up with a solution it has stopped working permanently!
Forgot to mention that the laptop I have is a VAIO SR and that I have tried a few things already to see if it would solve the problem, but no luck. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, switched from right-handed to left-handed, uninstall and let windows choose the driver, etc...
Does anyone get their touchpad fully working with XP? Even after installing Sony Synaptics driver from Sony site, mine still only works like a regular mouse and there is no option to control the tapping
