HP/Compaq :: Would This Hard Drive Be Compatible With A Presario CQ50-115NR

I'm not sure if this 12mm, 2.5 inch drive would fit in it or be compatible with it. I plan to purchase this one if it is indeed compatible and will fit.
Otherwise, if not, then can someone recommend another internal 750 GB SATA 3 Gb/s 8 MB Cache 5200 or 5400 hard drive for me that is just as good quality as Western Digital? Must be compatible and fit.
when i charge my battery not only does my fan speed up, heat up, and so does my charger, the brick heats up or w.e it feals like it could set something on fire if left for a long time, should i worry? or is this normal in all laptops? (this is for the charger)
I have a Compaq Presario CQ50-108NR and my computer needed a recovery, but I had accidentally formatted that part of the hard drive. So I used my Vista Ultimate disk and fresh installed it on my laptop. Because of this, I have to reinstall all of my drivers on my Laptop.
So, I went to HP's site for the drivers which was here. My priority is to get my wifi/internet working as soon as possible because I can download the rest of the drivers later. So, I download both the Atheros and Broadcom drivers for my laptop. I've installed both of them, but my Laptop still doesn't detect any wifi spots despite there being plenty around me. Also, I keep getting a notification that windows must now install drivers for hardware, yet it when I click auto detect and folder detect (folder where my drivers are), it says unable to find any. Also, here is my wifi card.
I have a Presario v5204nr notebook that will not recognize that there is a hard disk installed. im doing this because my old hard drive is giving me problems already and it only has 40gb and im trying to put a 160gb. when i removed the hard drive and put the new one in i rebooted the computer and try to install Windows xp but when it asks which partitiion to install to, it says "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. I have tried several hard drives (sata) and same effect.
The laptop has a 60gb hd right now and I want to install a higher capacity.Compaq/HP chat told me that I can only use a 60gb,but the spec sheet says I can go up to a 120gb 4200rpm IDE.There is even a part number for it,407853-001. Could I not just get an IDE hard drive without having to get their part number hd?
who knows if my Presario R4219, actually mounting a 60GB disk, can support a 250GB HD ? I was about to buy the WD2500BEVE, it's IDE and ATA-6, so it should work but I'm not sure the bios will recognize the whole disk dimension.
I've got an old C501NR with 80 GB HD that blue screened and died. Disk check indicated failed sectors. Wont boot into windows. Hp said its dead or dying. So I bought a 160 GB and Windows wont see any of it, neither does Bios. HP said it was too big, would only handle 120 GB so I ordered one of those, same speed/cache as the original. Same issue, its not found by Bios or Windows setup disc.
Here is the fun part: HP now says I can only use a certain part number which seems like total BS to me. Surethe 2 I tried were western digital and they come with Seagates, but so what? So if it isnt THAT that prevents me the puter from seeing the new drives, and that seems highly unlikely, what is it?? The drives are seating and connecting just fine.
I have an old Presario v2000 with a failing hd. I bought a new hd and imaged the old drive to a usb drive with the intention of imaging it back to the new hd but i cannot get the usb drive to boot. I really want to preserve the data and software ....
I got a Compaq Presario CQ57-400SO I want to install with Windows XP instead of Windows 7, which is included. I've got two questions now since I've hit some bumps. Â 1. Is there any, at all, driver support for Windows XP to get a hold of? Â 2. How am I supose to boot from USB (my DVD-ROM is broken)? Â + Have converted my Windows XP installation disc to USB. Â - I've tried changing the boot order, and no, the USB isn't marked with ! so it should work. Â - I've tried pressing F9 which gets me to the Boot Option Menu. But once I press the USB drive it just goes straight to Windows (the pre-installed).
I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-115dx and an HP 16gb flash drive that will not work with the computer. The flash drive works with my HP Pavilion laptop, but not with the Compaq. I have a 4gb HP flash drive that works with the computer just fine, along with a few SanDisk ones. I don't think that it's the USB drivers because my other flash drives work with the computer just fine. I really need to use the flash drive to back up information from the Compaq computer.
my laptop runs extraordinarily hot (I believe it was a faulty fan/heatsink assembly.) So I purchased a replacement, opened up the laptop and replaced it.

i purchased a compaq presario cq50 model, and i already upgraded my ram to 3gb, and the hp site says i should be able to upgrade to 4gb. also i have a hdmi port blocked up, so can i add a hdmi port? what can i do to upgrade it more?
because i plan to have this laptop for 3-5 years but i also plan on buying a desktop replacement laptop this summer.
I'm kinda worried about it's temperatures. Just surfing internet, I get 75-88ºC (or even 91ºC) on the CPU, and 55ºC on the harddrive. Is that normal? If I run a game, the temperature goes even higher. For example, I was at 77ºC and I opened a video in youtube and it went to 81ºC! Right now I'm just talking on Skype and I have 85ºC.
The computer is not on my lap, it is on a table, so i am not blocking any of the air vents, and the room temperature is not high at all.
i own a compaq cq50 laptop, i was woundering if i would call hp up and ask if i could order a new keyboard for my laptop and they would install it fo me, i dont want a different one, i would just want a new one, would this be possible?
I have a compaq cq50-209wm and it has a intel celeron 585 running at 2.16GHz. I'm not a really big fan of this processor it seems really slow, so I was wondering what other processors this computer supports. it has a socket p 478 so it must support some of the mobile core duos,
I am thinking about getting a new DV4T and then upgrading the hard drive to an X-25 ssd, but obviously it'll only be 80GB which is an issue. I just read the NBR review of the DV4 and it seems that there is a special hard drive you can plug in into the optical drive bay to boost your storage space... i've been searching everywhere but I can't find the thing... anyone know where/if this thing does in fact exist and if it's compatible with the "new" DV4s?
This Compaq CQ50-NR215 has continued to get slower over time. It was bought at BestBuy, and came with (2) "GeekSquad" recovery CD's- as opposed to a Microsoft OS disk? Upon backing up my data, I proceded with Disk1- which it said successfully did something with the partition. Stage two was installing original software. It stalled during this stage & gave ERROR 1005. After removing the CD, the laptop failed to boot, stating that some device in the boot sector was not present.  It so happened that I had a Vista OS CD from some other computer, so I inserted the CD & tried reboot. After asking whether to repair/install windows (which I selected install), it appeared to going well. The greeting message appears & says "Prepearing your DESKTOP for initial use". It booted fine, the UI appears intact. The problem-  The WLAN light on the laptop which is red when turned off/blue when on- remains red & will not activate. In the device manager I find no network adapter. A section named "Other Devices" is highlighted in yellow indicating an issue- when selecting Other Devices, a submenu appears & the following list is present (see photo also)

From the HP driver download section, I downloaded what I thought may be the appropriate chipset to a flash drive, then moved to the laptop & installed. Still nothing. Â It was suggested that I may be able to plug an ethernet cable directly from my router to the laptop & gain internet access that way- which failed, no access. The CD I installed from was designed for an older desktop, not having the software to make use of the internal wifi.
If my laptop's hard drive has to be replace, can I replace it with any 2.5" and does the capacity and speed matter? My current one that came with the laptop with vista pre-installed is 160gb SATA.
I think I have a hard disk failure or error. It states the disk name:TOSHIBA MQ01ABF050 and the volume C:;D:  . I have a HP Pavilion TS Sleekbook 14 with windows 8.1 (I upgraded from the Windows 8 which came in with the laptop) and  I unknowingly created a recovery image on a Windows 8 compatible usb successfully when I was already experiencing problems with my laptop hard drive. I later found out that it is not recommended to create a recovery image on a windows 8 compatible usb.
I'm hoping to just go back to factory settings and wipe out all my files if that can get my laptop back in working condition as I have already backed up my important documents to USB. My following question's are
1.) Will the recovery image that I created with the usb that's windows 8 compatible not work if I try to do a factory reset? 2.) Will the recovery image that I created while having the errors already, be techically "clean," meaning it has all the necessary components for a running laptop once I replace my hard drive or do a recovery with the current hard drive in place? 3.) Will I be able to restore from the recovery partition? or does the hard disk failure affect that drive as well? Â My USB flash drive is also compatible with windows 8 AND 7. Is it possible to just transfer it to just a windows 7 compatible usb if I'll encounter problems due to the windows 8 compatibility of the flash drive I've used for the recovery image creation.
about 8 months ago our laptop died on us.PS3 died the other day.So i need something to fiddle with.it died during a disk clean up/defragg.there were some bad sectors.chose to clean up.afterwards it goes through the bios screen;then instead of windows showing up i get a screen with a blinking cursor.Now in the bios screen idid a hard drive test says 01-07 FAIL.is there a chance at recovery or should i just get a new HDD? Is there a way to reformatt from the bios?Can i access DOS from there?
just picked up a new ENVY 15 from Asia. It was preconfigured on special with decent specs. The only downside is that it only comes with a 500GB hard drive. I was looking under the North American specs for the customizable model and noticed that there is an option for a secondary hard drive. Just wondering if anyone can confirm this? Don't want to operate on this beauty if the second drive bay doesn't even exist.
I have an HP-dv2000 laptop hard-drive that's completely crashed now.
I have a Dell XPS laptop 320gig Sata Hard drive that I am trying to replace it with, however when I plug the hard drive in and try to turn on the power. All that happens is all the lights on the laptop just blink really fast, along with the multimedia quick buttons, continuously.
If I remove the hard-drive and it will actually go away and start, it will start up the HP screen thats it.
I am planning on putting another HDD into my dv8 with two hard drive bays. I am currently using one of the bays for a 320GB 7200prm drive. I'm probably gonna put another 320GB 7200rpm or 500GB 5400rpm HDD in. However, I am not sure where to purchase a hard drive caddy from. There is one from NewmodeUS for around $40 + $5 shipping and there is a one that is a genuine HP part from the HP parts and store that costs around $50 + $10 shipping. Where do you guys think I should buy it from?

I bought a hard drive (Seagate 320GB SATA 2.5") intending to upgrade my storage space which is currently 160gb. I checked to see if the drive was compatible (the drive my HP dv6500t shipped with was a Toshiba MK1637GSX) and I had figured it was since both were SATA.
The hard drive arrived today. I decided that before I begin putting my drive image on the new drive that I check to see if it'll fit. I open it up and take the drive out and to my surprise I see that the drive that was inside the laptop had some kind of pin-connectors.
The Seagate laptop did not. I took off the caddy that was holding the hard drive, but I noticed that the pin connectors were a part of the hard drive itself.
So this has left me rather perplexed. I looked online and found caddies and SATA connectors for a dv6000 laptop but they were going for around $35.
Is this normal or am I just missing something here? Should I have ordered a different drive?

The reason I ask is that my dv9608ca laptop is dead, but I am 90% certain that the hard drive is fine. So I thought I would salvage it and use it as an external hard drive.
So I bought an external enclosure which is for 2.5" SATA drives. However, the prongs on the hard drive are twice as tall as the spot for them to go in, in the enclosure.
The reviews for the hard drive enclosure have been all positive, so it obviously works.
I need to replace the hard drive in my DV6654 and am not sure if it is a 2.5 inch or not. I have not been able to find this information anywhere I have looked. The only thing I know is that it is a wd2500bevs-60ust0. It is 250GB. Can I put a 500GB in it? I have read that a computer may not recognize the new drive if it is too large.
So I just purchased a DV4t a month ago. Only recently maybe this past week have I noticed that my hard drive is overheating because my left palm is getting really hot. I have no idea what would cause this? What are some causes of an overheating hard drive, and what can I do to keep the temperature down?
