Whenever I use the remote control for the Xbox 360, it turns on the laptop!

Jun 29, 2009what kind of TV tuner you need to get to play Xbox 360 on my HP HDX16?
I've heard that you can either get one that will cause a lag and that will give you HD or one that will take away the lag but doesn't have HD.
I was wondering if there is a program that you can install that will take away the lag so i can get the HD one?

We have good signal strength from our wireless router, and we know the adaptor is in good working order, we just can't connect the two.

Dec 6, 2009I just bought a new dv6 on black friday from staples, the dv6-1334 with a t4300/4gb ram.
Is anyone having trouble inserting their remote control into the slot on the left side of the laptop? My remote won't really fit...i can get it about 90% of the way in, but when i push to click it in/click it out, its like its stuck with sticky goo or something, it goes in really slowly to lock in place and comes out really slowly when i click it out of place.
Other than the media remote control issue, I'm liking this ALOT more than my tx2500 tablet with better cpu and graphics/video card.

Feb 28, 2010I recently clean installed Win 7 and just realized i never got the drivers for my remote to work. Windows update did something and now my remote can only turn my laptop on but does not control anything else. I have a dv5-1235dx.

Sep 29, 2009I bought a Dv7t and it came with a small remote and the basic question i have is:
Where does it go (if there is a slot in the laptop that can hold it)?
I noticed on top of the SD card slot thingy there is a rectangular cover with a symbol on it that is also on the remote (a rectangle with lines coming off of it to the left). Is that supposed to be taken off and the remote slides in there, or is that where you point the remote when you press buttons?

Apr 6, 2009My hp.com customized dv4t arrived this morning and I have already managed to create a problem. I attempted to stick the media center remote into the eSata(or w.e) slot and I managed to push it in all the way, but now it is stuck. This isn't a problem as I probably will never use the remote, but it will be a pet peeve for a long time. Is there anyway to remove it?

May 8, 2009When I first got my HP DV7-1285dx with Vista (64) the remote control that came with it was working fine. I upgraded to the Windows 7 beta when it came out (I didn't do a clean install) and the remote was still working and kept working throughout the several beta upgrades I did later (to newer beta versions). However when the Windows 7 RC was released earlier this week I decided to do a clean install so I backed up the important drivers and files and did a clean Windows 7 install. After that my HP remote simply stopped working, the laptop won't respond to it at all (not in Media Center and not in anything else). I was able to reinstall all the drivers (from the backup) except for one which shows as "Unknown driver" in Device Manager, and when I do a driver update and point Windows to the folder including my backed up drivers, it does recognize the device as the "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor" but says it encountered an error installing the driver software since it "couldn't find the file specified."
I don't know if this "Unknown driver" is in anyway connected to the Remote Control problem. I have no other problems showing in device manager by the way.
Also in an unrelated matter, I am trying to reinstall the MediaSmart software the came with the laptop. I downloaded the packages from the HP website but they won't install (since they're only update packages and not standalone installers I guess) so is there any way to reinstall the MediaSmart software from the recovery discs/partition?

Feb 12, 2009Recently,a friend gave me is hp pavillion dv5226ca(dv 5000 series)because he was buying a new one .The hdd was dead,so I changed it and installed a clean copy of XP Pro.I have downloaded all the drivers that were avalaible on hp website for this product(at least,all that were working),and all the laptop features are working,except quickplay buttons and the included mini remote.
If I press one of the 2 quickplay buttons while XP running,nothing happen.If I press it while the computer is off,then the laptop power on but loads XP normally instead of quickplay interface.Remote control doesn't work independently of the buttons pressed and power state.
In device manager,all the devices are working and installed properly.
What do I need to do to get those buttons and the remote to work,knowing I don't have anything else than the laptop and the charger?

Jan 18, 2009I have a DV9000 and just yesterday it started where the screen will go black but I can see what is going on on the screen but it is extremely faint. When I close the lid for a few seconds and open it back up it the screen appears like normal but only for about twenty seconds and then returns to the black. If I hook it up to an external monitor and I can see what is going on.

Jul 9, 2009For some reason every time I shut down my pc it restarts itself like 5 seconds after it turns off. I looked it up and someone said try unplugging the Ethernet cable. So I did and when I unplug when I shut it down it doesn't restart itself but only when I leave the Ethernet cable in it. Why is that? Also down on my currently connected icon by the clock why does it show that i'm connected to two networks? I had xp pro before and it only showed me connected to one network but on this new computer it shows me connected to two networks. Network 2 and Network 3, is that normal?

Jun 10, 2009if anyone has had the same problem as me with the HP HDX 16. Randomly, even as I am typing here, the volume bar (with treble, bass etc) will appear on screen and will increase/reduce very quickly as if im pushing down on the touch buttons, this stops me being able to type, sometimes crashing the computer.
At the same time, this fault also occurs for the wireless LAN button to the far right, which will randomly disable (turn red) as if i'd touched it, sometimes causing the desktop to crash but more importantly causing me to lose connection and have to reconnect on a frequent basis.
I've had the notebook for over 6 months, and while i did have this occur on very rare occasions, since a couple days ago it has increased to a point where it happens all the time, including after a restart. I have tried searching through google to see if the problem is known, and i have seen a similar account on a customer review website. I have used HP health check and followed the updates supplied including that for the touch smart buttons and a BIOS flash.

May 10, 2009i let a friend borrow my m1530 to watch movies one day. when he returned it to me...the remote was stuck in its slot. i'm guessin he tried to squeeze it in the slot, upside down.
i was wonderin if there was a way to take the laptop apart to get to the remote compartment without damaging anything.
i kinda miss havin the remote when i'm listenin to music from far away. if anyone has taken apart their m1530 or know how to, could u please let me know.
Dell :: Where Can I Store My Remote?
Jan 14, 2009Out of the blue today, I received a package from Dell with the accessory kit for my M1530.
I guess I had finally complained enough about not getting it, even though people that ordered it about the same time I did, got theirs.
My only question, is where on the unit can I store the remote. I previously had an HP system where it had an expansion slot on the side that fit the remote perfectly, but I can't remove the little panel on the side of the M1530. Is that where it is supposed to go? Is there a button to push to get that little placeholder out?
