View 5 RepliesI put my new laptop into hibernate and into my laptop bag. At about 3 am (I looked at event log) it seems to over the last few days come out of hibernation and come on. Within 10 minutes it goes back to sleep/hibernate. This happens while I am not even touching it. Would this have caused any damage (heat while in bag)? I doubt it but it is new and I am paranoid! Also for now I am just shutting down if the laptop is not plugged in and not in use.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP ProBook 4530s, using Windows 7 64-bit OS, Intel Core i3-2310M CPU (2.10 GHz).My laptop is about 21 months old and I am facing some problems when puting my laptop into hibernate mode. Everything was fine for a long time - that is, when I put it in the hibernate mode it turned off and when I pressed the power on button it resumed. However, that isn't the case any longer. Now when I put it in the hibernate mode, it (usually) goes hibernating and after few seconds it turns back on (all by itself!). Sometimes it hibernates for 10 or 20 minutes (or even more) and then again, it turns back on all by itself! This problem just started occuring, I didn't install or update or do anything.

I tested it out and opening and closing the lid/pushing buttons doesn't wake it, the only thing i can do to wake it is push the power button which is sunk in (its an sr series)
When the battery is very low like say 10%, no warning comes up saying that the battery is running low, instead my laptop chips out and it doesnt hibernate or sleep so whatever i do that isn't saved is lost so these days when the battery is low i plug it in and i can continue working. my laptop is a hp pavillion g6 2237nr and it got a pretty bad fall about a year ago but it was working fine up to now.Ialso want to know, if i do have to replace my hardrive will my intel core i3 processor go with it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've bene playing a game (tf2) on my laptop, and 3 times now its turned off, just straight up turned off, and so I turned it back on, and then the keyboard didn't work no matter what I did.
So I called dell and they said some sort of static built up in the keyboard, and to take out battery, and wall plug, and hold power for 15 seconds, and then turn comp on. I did that and it restored my keyboard to full use.
But now twice since then my comp has shut down, and I've had to use that technique to restore it...
This laptop is only 2 weeks old, ? Why is it having problems a mere 2 weeks after I got it.
I mean I'm not even typeing fast enough to make a static charge, in game you only use a couple buttons. Also i'm on tile floors, no carpet at all, I use my laptop on a table although it does get hot.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi just picked up the new laptop (specs below in sig) and have noticed a few hiccups.
I just got it yesterday, and when initially setting it up, that silly "HP start up" software seemed to lock up more then once (with the silly hands moving around n blah blah blah.) Well eventually had to restart and with that crap out of the way, set things up normally. Got everything updated. Wifi's working well, all windows updates out of the way, etc.
However during all this 2 times my computer randomly went into hibernate mode. It wasn't like I'd left it idle for long. I mean i may have left it go for a minute or two w/o interacting with it (while it was plugged in.) I had also altered the power settings to not go into sleep or hibernate while it was plugged in , which it was.
I could tell it hibernated by the start up screen saying "resuming windows." Well as an experiment after playing around with power settings and so forth, i left it on all nite while plugged in. In the morning today it was still on and running fine.
I just bought a new laptop and every night I lose the wifi connection. I know it's not my router because I am usually running one of two X-boxes in the house and that connect never drops. The laptop works great for a couple of hours and then it drops off. I have tried restarting, shutting down and nothing works. I do all my homework online and cannot afford it dropping in the middle of a test or something. The OS is that wonderful Windows 8 (in my sarcastic voice).

2nd question, during the night, should i turn my device off or put it to sleep, i feel like turning it off conserves energy and gives the netbook a "rest", but im not sure
I have an HP G60-247cl Laptop that will turn on, and the fan is running. However, the screen is blank and there seems to be no response from the keyboard or mouse, and an external monitor will not work either.
If it is the switch, where is it located, and how much trouble is it to get to?
I have a DV9000 and just yesterday it started where the screen will go black but I can see what is going on on the screen but it is extremely faint. When I close the lid for a few seconds and open it back up it the screen appears like normal but only for about twenty seconds and then returns to the black. If I hook it up to an external monitor and I can see what is going on.

View 7 Replies View RelatedFor some reason every time I shut down my pc it restarts itself like 5 seconds after it turns off. I looked it up and someone said try unplugging the Ethernet cable. So I did and when I unplug when I shut it down it doesn't restart itself but only when I leave the Ethernet cable in it. Why is that? Also down on my currently connected icon by the clock why does it show that i'm connected to two networks? I had xp pro before and it only showed me connected to one network but on this new computer it shows me connected to two networks. Network 2 and Network 3, is that normal?

View 1 Replies View RelatedDo Vaio Z Series laptop owners use their laptop as their main primary computer or a secondary computer? Do Vaio Z series owners also have a desktop pc as their primary computer and use their Vaio Z Series as a secondary computer? Or is your Vaio Z Series laptop your one and only computer that you always use? Is it comfortable using the 13 inch screen for long periods of time?
Reason i ask is some people have more then one computer and some people just have one.
I'm just wondering if the Vaio Z Series laptop is a good choice as a main computer since it's got good specs and it's nicely portable but will the 13 inch screen be ok to use for long periods even at the higher 1600 x 900 resolution?
I have had this problem for a while. I used to have Vista installed on my 1420, it had taken me a long time to find a 64bit driver for the ALPS touchpad that featured middle click (when you click both buttons, it registers as a middle click).
Now, I am on Windows 7, all Vista 64 bit drivers for the ALPS work with Windows 7, but I am having trouble finding the driver that I had used with Vista64 that allowed me to use middle click.
I have searched on Dell's driver page and literally installed almost every driver they have for ALPS touchpads. Almost all of them have the ability to use the feature middle click, but they never work. I was wondering if there are any 1420 owners out there that have, or know where one could find a 64 bit driver that allows me to use middle click?
My dell latitude 830 boots up with a verticle 1/16th line down the middle. I have reflowed the video chip.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am just finding it annoying that while I'm in the middle of working on my laptop, it just starts to sleep. I then have to furiously move the track pad around to get it to turn back on. It does this randomly and I'm not sure what's wrong what it. My computer has been fine since I bought it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I received my L540 and I'm installing all the drivers at the moment. After I installed the trackpad/point drivers I disabled the trackpad. But now I noticed that the middle mouse button isn't working.

Also is there an easy way to get all the drivers I'm missing at once? I don't have a CD.
I am trying to figure out if my video card has gone bad on my 6400 and wanted to know if can be replaced. I have a nvidia 7200 256 mb gpu.. I am running into a problem where my screen just goes black in the middle of everything. The problem also occurs when hooking the laptop up to a monitor. Initially I thought I had a bad inverter board and bad video drivers, both have been replaced but the problem still persist. I ran the diagnostics and the screen went black during the video check. I have to reboot the pc to get the screen back on then the problem happens again.
Can the video card be replaced on the 6400?
if anyone has had the same problem as me with the HP HDX 16. Randomly, even as I am typing here, the volume bar (with treble, bass etc) will appear on screen and will increase/reduce very quickly as if im pushing down on the touch buttons, this stops me being able to type, sometimes crashing the computer.
At the same time, this fault also occurs for the wireless LAN button to the far right, which will randomly disable (turn red) as if i'd touched it, sometimes causing the desktop to crash but more importantly causing me to lose connection and have to reconnect on a frequent basis.
I've had the notebook for over 6 months, and while i did have this occur on very rare occasions, since a couple days ago it has increased to a point where it happens all the time, including after a restart. I have tried searching through google to see if the problem is known, and i have seen a similar account on a customer review website. I have used HP health check and followed the updates supplied including that for the touch smart buttons and a BIOS flash.
I was having sound issues that I fixed by updating my BIOS from the website's drivers. However now I can no longer use the middle click button. I used this for opening new tabs and now it doesnt even work for scrolling either. I have auto scroll enabled in firefox and I have confirmed that it does not work in IE either. I went to control panel -> Mouse and there is not even an option for a middle button.
