I click hibernate...the screen goes black and if i wiggle the mouse it comes back as the login screen instantaneously. How can i get hibernate to do what its supposed to?
i just picked up the new laptop (specs below in sig) and have noticed a few hiccups.
I just got it yesterday, and when initially setting it up, that silly "HP start up" software seemed to lock up more then once (with the silly hands moving around n blah blah blah.) Well eventually had to restart and with that crap out of the way, set things up normally. Got everything updated. Wifi's working well, all windows updates out of the way, etc.
However during all this 2 times my computer randomly went into hibernate mode. It wasn't like I'd left it idle for long. I mean i may have left it go for a minute or two w/o interacting with it (while it was plugged in.) I had also altered the power settings to not go into sleep or hibernate while it was plugged in , which it was.
I could tell it hibernated by the start up screen saying "resuming windows." Well as an experiment after playing around with power settings and so forth, i left it on all nite while plugged in. In the morning today it was still on and running fine.
First of all i want to say i have a dell xps 1530, Vista. Recentrly ive reinstalled vista and now i have something strange going on.
When i got to start (i dont use button) and click on hibernate, notebook save data and when he is about to shut down, it just starts all over, the data doesnt go loss, so it starts the same as i did leave it in hibernate.
The strange thing is that, when i after this try to shut down it restarts again, so the only thing left to do for me to push the button so it just manualy shuts down.
One more thing, when i start again, and i direcly try to hibernate or shut down then it does his job, everything happens as it should be.
I have Sony VAIO SZ330. How can I enable hibernate ? When I go to Start--Turn off Computer I have Hibernate -- Disabled Standby / Turn off / Restart -- enabled
It seems that randomly, after awaking from hibernation, my touchpad becomes unresponsive and my keyboard speed settings are reset. This is typically solved by restarting the computer.
I put my Inspiron 9300 into hibernate this morning, tried to wake it back up and all I'm getting aftet the Dell logo and status bar (POST) is a black screen with a blinking cursor in the left corner.
When I hit the Play button on the front of the notebook, it brings up the Dell Media Direct logo screen, but nothing happens.
When I boot with my XP CD and go to the recovery console, I can see the hard drive and files, though I can't access most folders because I get an Access Denied message.
I tried booting from my flash drive, but when I do, the flash drive is recognized as the c: drive and the hard drive isn't listed.
I also tried unplugging my laptop and battery and held down the power button for a few minutes to discharge any electricity. No luck.
when i put my computer into sleep sometimes i slide it onto a table, or put it in my backpack (inside a case) and now and then it will be back on when i go get it again.....
I tested it out and opening and closing the lid/pushing buttons doesn't wake it, the only thing i can do to wake it is push the power button which is sunk in (its an sr series)
thought that hibernate was better because it turns off the computer and saves battery except on my laptop the power button is defaulted to sleep so I would have thought that they would default it to that for a reason.
I was trying to update my drivers, I went to dell website and got a few update for my drivers, but now, my computer won't go into standby or hibernate. If I try to go into standby, after I see the "preparing to standby" my computer goes black and the on light still on, then I can't wake the system up I have to press and hold the power button and reestart. When I try to go into hibernate mode after "preparing to hibernate" I see a blue screen with that says something like "an error has happened and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to my system, the problem could be caused by a new software or driver... etc" After I restart it says, your system has recovered from a serious problem and then it ask me to send a report error, I do and then my web browser and open this: [url]I know the problem was a driver that I was trying to update to make my computer work better but instead it messed up. How do I undo the updated drivers?
E6400 Windows 7 x64 RTM from TechNet Latest BIOS, DCP drivers, etc
Not sure if anyone else is running into this but I will put my computer into hibernate by closing the lid and toss it in my bag. Works for about 5-7 hibernates and then sometimes it will look like it is hibernating, but the machine never turns off. I open the lid and see that the keyboard backlight is on and the num lock or caps lock will go on and off, but I can't get the screen back. I can only hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then restart.
For some reason, my laptop's internet stops working after it enters sleep or hibernate mode. I have to restart my computer to get the internet working which is annoying.
Hibernate take a really long time to shut down, twice as long as shut down. the first thing that happens is that the monitor shuts off and then hard drive works for a while
Sleep is even clunkier. turns off monitor, it takes a few minutes to complete, sometimes when i use the FN+F1 combo it comes back on, when I close the lid usually works, but sometimes it doesn't.
at times hibernate won't work and stops in the middle of it, forcing me to shut of the laptop. then on restart it freezes a couple of times on the desktop and earlier I even got the BSOD.
I have a Vaio VGN-Z46GD, that will not sleep/hibernate and now will not shut down either. When I shut the lid, it sleeps for about 15 seconds and then wakes again.
I bought this model in Japan Z71JB, Vista 64 premium, 4go ram, 320 HDD.
The problem is after getting hibernate, especially from sleep to deep sleep and when resume i got BSOD with " multiple IRP requests complete" and ve reboot fresh start. I ve some clue that Kaspersky internet security can be faulty.
Anyone with this error? Kaspersky user? im stuck with several BSOD on resume always the same.
My laptop has frozen while in hibernate mode on two occassions in the past two months. Though not a frequent occurance it is heart stopping when you have committed work to a customer and everything you need is on the laptop and not accessible.
The first time the machine was off. Opened the lid and pressed the power button and nothing - did not even light up the button. After no responses to any attempt to start the computer I removed the battery. Upon reinserting the battery the machine started working and everything was fine.
The second time the machine was off but left with the lid open. The power button was lit. No matter what I did there was no response - frozen again. Once again I removed the battery and upon reinserting the system again resumed working normally.
The only common thing is the laptop went into hibernate mode and would not respond to commands to wake up.
When the battery is very low like say 10%, no warning comes up saying that the battery is running low, instead my laptop chips out and it doesnt hibernate or sleep so whatever i do that isn't saved is lost so these days when the battery is low i plug it in and i can continue working. my laptop is a hp pavillion g6 2237nr and it got a pretty bad fall about a year ago but it was working fine up to now.Ialso want to know, if i do have to replace my hardrive will my intel core i3 processor go with it?
I have 10+ years experience, but I cant resolve this bug. I have a 3560 Vostro, new running win7. It has never went to sleep or hibernate properly. I have set it to go to sleep after 10 minutes and hibernate after 120 minutes, neither work as I wake up the next morning to find the laptop still running. ALSO I set the power button to "hibernate" and when pressing that it takes me to the log into windows screen. It seems like the computer goes to hibernate and IMMEDIATELY wakes up to the login screen.
Is there a program or setting that is preventing the PC from sleep/hibernation?
My new 600m is not responsible after hibernation. I can do nothing except holding the power switch for 7 sec to shut it off and restart it again. What configuration need to be looked at (I presume this is not as usual), I am new to laptops
I have a 2 yr old Pavillion G7-1329 wm with Windows 7. I use Windows antivirus and firewall along with Malwarebytes for spyware. I have noticed recently when I download or update anything, instead of restarting as before, it hangs up and after about 5 minutes it goes into hibernate and won't come out of it.
I have to do a hard power off.
I have done a couple of restore points but it doesn't solve the problem.
I do use a cooling fan to prevent overheating although it does still get quite warm.
I'm running Vista 64, ad very occasionally when I try to hibernate the machine (either docked or un-docked) it waits for 5+ minutes with a black screen and then reboots.
Ever since Vista SP2, I have been experiencing issues with my Z690 Vaio. Wih hibernate, the laptop just restarts when I try to resume and gives the improper shutdown error. With sleep, sometimes the laptop refuses to start or gives the BSOD. Sony support, as usual has been lackluster.
I put my new laptop into hibernate and into my laptop bag. At about 3 am (I looked at event log) it seems to over the last few days come out of hibernation and come on. Within 10 minutes it goes back to sleep/hibernate. This happens while I am not even touching it. Would this have caused any damage (heat while in bag)? I doubt it but it is new and I am paranoid! Also for now I am just shutting down if the laptop is not plugged in and not in use.
Im using windows 8 on my Dell 5520 laptop. now a problem is happening from past few days i could'n hibernate my Laptop, when ever i do it, sometimes it shutdown my system and sometimes it restarted to login screen.
The computer will go into hibernation without any problems.
When I power the computer back up, it starts up I see the starting windows screen. That screen goes blank and then nothing happens.
I just updated the BIOS to A15 and that did not work. I have tried uninstalling the video driver and that did not work. I tried installing an older video driver and no luck there.
The video driver I have for the NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M show version 8.17.12.5922
