when i put my computer into sleep sometimes i slide it onto a table, or put it in my backpack (inside a case) and now and then it will be back on when i go get it again.....
I tested it out and opening and closing the lid/pushing buttons doesn't wake it, the only thing i can do to wake it is push the power button which is sunk in (its an sr series)
When the battery is very low like say 10%, no warning comes up saying that the battery is running low, instead my laptop chips out and it doesnt hibernate or sleep so whatever i do that isn't saved is lost so these days when the battery is low i plug it in and i can continue working. my laptop is a hp pavillion g6 2237nr and it got a pretty bad fall about a year ago but it was working fine up to now.Ialso want to know, if i do have to replace my hardrive will my intel core i3 processor go with it?

Do Vaio Z series owners also have a desktop pc as their primary computer and use their Vaio Z Series as a secondary computer? Or is your Vaio Z Series laptop your one and only computer that you always use? Is it comfortable using the 13 inch screen for long periods of time?
Reason i ask is some people have more then one computer and some people just have one.
I'm just wondering if the Vaio Z Series laptop is a good choice as a main computer since it's got good specs and it's nicely portable but will the 13 inch screen be ok to use for long periods even at the higher 1600 x 900 resolution?
Does anyone know how to disable the mouse from waking the computer. I have tried the following with no luck
1) Control Panel - Mouse - Hardware - Properties - Power management. unchecked the "Allow this device to wake the computer". Doesn't work
2) Install Logitech latest drivers and does the same thing.
3) Under power management, I disable the "USB suspend setting"

When I shut the lid, it sleeps for about 15 seconds and then wakes again.
Also, the same when I click the sleep button.
I bought this model in Japan Z71JB, Vista 64 premium, 4go ram, 320 HDD.
The problem is after getting hibernate, especially from sleep to deep sleep and when resume i got BSOD with " multiple IRP requests complete" and ve reboot fresh start. I ve some clue that Kaspersky internet security can be faulty.
Anyone with this error? Kaspersky user? im stuck with several BSOD on resume always the same.
Ever since Vista SP2, I have been experiencing issues with my Z690 Vaio. Wih hibernate, the laptop just restarts when I try to resume and gives the improper shutdown error. With sleep, sometimes the laptop refuses to start or gives the BSOD. Sony support, as usual has been lackluster.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI put my new laptop into hibernate and into my laptop bag. At about 3 am (I looked at event log) it seems to over the last few days come out of hibernation and come on. Within 10 minutes it goes back to sleep/hibernate. This happens while I am not even touching it. Would this have caused any damage (heat while in bag)? I doubt it but it is new and I am paranoid! Also for now I am just shutting down if the laptop is not plugged in and not in use.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've noticed a strange occurrence with my MBP (unibody late 2009 model, 3 weeks old).
It's happened since purchase and It's intermittent and hard to isolate, but I'd like to hear if anyone has noticed this too or a potential fix. It could totally be normal.
Essentially what is happening is that my MBP's fan will sometimes ramp up to around 2700rpm after waking from sleep (typical unloaded speed is ~1900rpm). It will then slowly speed down to the typical fan speed a couple minutes afterwards.
It seems that it occurs only in battery mode and when:
a) It is used on material surface, ie couch or bed OR
b) It is woken quickly after entering sleep
I haven't noticed this happening when plugged into AC, perhaps because it's always on a desk when on AC?
What I've done to try : resetting the PRAM, logic, etc, reinstalled the OS (in case a software issue).
I have an XPS 12 that is the 9Q33 Haswell based model. Every time I wake the ultrabook up from sleep mode, my sound no longer works. The services says that the windows audio service and the realtek audio service are running. But to get sound again I have to either restart both services or logout or reboot.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy XPS (bios A05) always wakes up after sleep mode with the fan running full speed and never stops after that. This occurs even if the PC goes to sleep with fan off (ie low system load, low temperature). The only way to turn the fan off is a full reboot.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi did a reformat but during it, it froze up and i had to force a shut down. when i turned it back on it continued from the same place and finished fine it seemed. but then it kept freezing up every 20minutes or so, or when it seemed like the processor couldnt handle what was going in. i started to think maybe it was overheating so i set it to adaptive and put the fan speed on level 5. it still freezes up but it takes longer to do so. its really annoying. i tried reinstalling all the drivers and everything and it kinda fixed it but it still freezes up. anyone know whats wrong? im ready to just smash this thing because ive been having important things to do and it keeps doing this crap.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am looking at the Sony VGN-FW378J/B. One of the features I like about it is the Blu Ray. I rent mostly Blu Ray from Netflix as I have the PS3 and can watch them. My girlfriend doesn't so I figure I am in the market for a new notebook, I may as well get the Sony with Blu Ray and HDMI and I can take it to her house and watch Blu Ray on her TV through my laptop. I didn't think anything of it until I was listening to a computer show where they said that some computers won't allow you to play the Blu Ray through the TV.
They called it "mirroring" I believe. Either something in the hardware and DVD protected it from playing on the TV.
So My question is, has anybody hooked their Sony notebook to their TV through the HDMI cable and played a Blu Ray movie? And if it did work how was the quality?
i've had this issue a little more frequently lately, both in vista and ubuntu and i think it's a hardware issue. after putting the computer to sleep (vista) or suspend (ubuntu), upon wake up, the display does not come on, keyboard and mouse are unresponsive....

Lately, when I open the lid, the drive starts "moaning". You know that sound as if you just inserted a CD or DVD into it. It does it three times with a couple of seconds gap in between.
It still reads just fine, I just tried it with a DVD, but I'm still concerned about the sound.
Usually there is just a small and short sound when opening the lid, just like when booting up, when (as much as I can figure) the head realigns to center.
My keyboard suddenly stopped working after waking my computer up from sleep. The on screen and touch keyboard still function normally as well as the mouse touch pad built into the laptop, but the physical keyboard does not. The LED for the CAPS LOCK button wont even light up when pressed. The keyboard back lights however do turn on and off when the computer is powered on or flipped between tablet and laptop mode.
I have tried restarting the computer on several occasions as well as doing a complete shut down. I have updated all drivers and even uninstalled all of my keyboard drivers to no effect. I have tried running a diagnostic, but I either get an error that says the diagnostic could not run or that no data has been collected by the testing. All other scans of my computer show no issues.
it came with vista business installed, and replaced it with XP Professional.
so after that i realise that the clock changes automatically once i restart the computer.
the BIOS time is OK. and i have checked the clock config and all is OK.
can you tell me whats going wrong with it.
I have an edge 530, i've had it about 2 weeks running windows 7 64.I have found that on default settings its fairly slow at waking up, i made one change which was to the wireless card, i unticked the allow my system to turn off wireless to save power (so it stays on). this seems to have made an instant difference and the laptop now wakes a lot faster.
The problem now is with having that option unticked, when my laptop does wake up the wireless is off when it wakes and will not turn back on, i have to manually turn it on. If i leave the power save option ticked for the wireless card it does auto connect when my laptop wakes.Seems a little odd as i thought unticking the option to allow my laptop to turn wireless off means it should just stay on but it seems to be having the opposite effect.all i wanted was for my laptop to wake faster and the wireless either stay on or auto connect after it wakes.
We have purchased and deployed a number of Latitude E7440's and E7240's and we are running into an issue with some of the E7240's. When waking from sleep while on battery power, the machine will start to wake, the display will come back and I can move the cursor but within a second or two, the cursor will freeze and the machine will become totally unresponsive. This doesn't happen on AC. I've set the power plan to 1 minute and tested over and over again and it is reproducible every time. The only way to recover from it is to power off the machine via the power button and restart it.
Right now this is happening on the original end-user's machine and 1 other deployed E7240 we were able to get back and test. I have a couple of other E7240's deployed and I have an email out to the end users to bring them in so we can check them too.
I've upgraded the BIOS from A09 to A13. I've tried switching wireless control from Intel to Windows. I've updated to the latest drivers on the Dell support site.
Machines are i7, 256GB SSD with 8GB RAM running Windows 7(64) Enterprise
I purchased the Lenovo Z580 laptop last month. It is a very good laptop, very silent and well built. Coupled with Windows 8 (64 bit), its a very new experience all together, especially the uptime after restart, connectivity etc. Superfast!
I've been traveling around the world offlate and after I was back home recently, uunfortunately, I'm facing a wired problem with the Wifi since then.
Nature of the problem: After restart, sleep, turn PC on:
1/ Wifi shows full signal status at the start screen.
2/ I enter password to login and it takes to W8 start screen. I then goto the desktop mode.
3/ When I launch a browser I can't connect to internet but the wifi status says 'Internet access'. But after few seconds, I see grey wireless symbol (without any signal bar) with a star on the left corner of the wifi symbol (Not connected mode).
4/ The network I connect to is no longer visible. Only 2 networks are detected. One is an open network and the other one is a different network. Usually several networks are within the range when I'm connected to my network.
5/ After 4-5 minutes, everything becomes normal i.e. the wifi adapter connects to the network.
I've tried router/modem power cycle, disable/enable wireless network adapter and they haven't solved the problem yet. Also noticed something in the Wi-Fi Status (wireless adapter settings window) accessed via Control Panel. Speed initially was 39.0Mbps and eventually changes to 72.0Mbps, drops to 65.0Mbps...
I don't have this problem with the other laptop and tablet I own.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFor the last two days or so, my Lenovo G560 laptop (running Windows 7, 64-bit, BIOS 2.10) has had problems with its (wired) network adapter after waking up from hibernation. It is shown as disconnected (same as if the cable was physically detached). The only major change I performed in the last few days was installing Service Pack 1. However, the problem only appeared about two days afterwards, so I'm not sure if this is related at all.
In such cases, IPCONFIG reports the following for the NIC:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
If I try IPCONFIG /RENEW, I get
Windows IP Configuration No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected.
Hovering over the tray icon says "Not connected". Troubleshooting of course doesn't find anything. Also, there are no weird entries in Event Viewer (unless they're hidden somewhere in other views). Basically the behavior is identical to when the network cable is physically disconnected (unplugged).
Also, unplugging the network cable, waiting a few minutes, and plugging it back again doesn't do anything.
For now I have two workarounds:
-rebooting the system
-right-clicking Local Area Connection (under Network Connections), selecting DISABLE from the menu, waiting for a few moments, and then choosing the ENABLE from the context menu.
I'm having the following issue with myVaio-Z550n:
On random occasions, when I set the computer to sleep or hibernate (they seem to trigger this problem equally), the computer screen will go black, the fan kicks into a steady overdrive and on/off button's green led remains solidly lit -as if the computer were still on.
The only way to fix the problem is to manually power down the computer by depressing the the on/off button.
It happened under Windows 7 RC and it is happening under Windows 7 32-bit home premium as well. I haven't used Vista for quite sometime so I don't know if is an OS-triggered issue.
Anecdotally, it seems to occur more often when I close the lid to put it into sleep, rather than do it manually through the start menu.
It also appears to be occuring with more regularity in recent days. Before it was like 10% of the time... now it is something like 30%.
I know that in the power options you can change what pressing the power button does, but "lock" isn't an option. Before I upgraded to Windows7, I discovered how to set this but I can't figure out how to do it anymore.
