hello everyone i stumbled across this fantastic site looking for diagrams of how to tape the mouse pad of my vaio vgn-38e laptop has anyone got a diagram ? as the mouse pad is a bit erratic ?
I am planning to buy a bluetooth mouse for my Vaio FW. On ebay, the most listings of BT mice are devices manufactured by Microsoft, DPI, Sony, Logitech, Hewlett Packard, Dell, IOGear, and Kensington.
Which brand(s) of bluetooth mice would you recommend for use with the Sony? (participate in the poll above)
Anyone here has a Magic Mouse working with the new Z?
Because i do and have this kind of Problem: When using the normal Windows Driver, ist works perfectly, fast, responsive, no lag at all!
Unfortunately the scrool doesn`t work with this drivers.
So i installed the "hacked" one from the net. Installation was easy and fast. Drivers do update and suddenly everything works including vertical, horizontal, and 360° scroll. Zoom with ctrl-button works too.
BUT!.....The Mouse suddenly became completely unusable because of lag. sometimes it runs nice for 5 minutes and then it lags. sometimes it lags fpr just a few seconds and sometimes for minutes. its just unusable.
I found some points but for me they seem unlogical. Here we go, let me explain:
1. The WLAN is 2,4ghz and interrupts the bluetooth. people say to switch it to 5ghz. --> unlogical because i have 2,4ghz wlan and with the normal windows driver(hid) it works perfectly via bluetooth. if the frequency is the problem then it would lag all the time no matter what driver, right?
2.internal Bluetooth to weak --> unlogical because again it works with the windows driver. same hardware here so this is not possible.
I also deletetd the foxconn drivers and let windows install the normal drivers. but same thing happens. the hacked driver lags.
This is specifically occurring on Z590, but may be there in all Z's.
If you have a USB mouse plugged in, and you go to sleep mode, and then disconnect the USB mouse, then when the laptop wakes up again, the trackpad does not work. If you plug-in the mouse at this point, the mouse works fine, but the trackpad is still entirely disabled. Vaio Control Center indicates the trackpad is still enabled, but no response at all from trackpad.
If you unplug the mouse, go to sleep, and wake up, the trackpad now works fine.
I am not sure when this bug was introduced, but can anyone replicate it as well? The trackpad seems to get disabled upon wakeup from sleep if the USB mouse was unplugged AFTER going into sleep mode.
I have tried unsuccessfully to disable my mouse pad on my Inspiron 1525 Laptop, Windows 7, Â as I use a regular mouse and my fat hands keep moving the mouse when I type!
I don't see Mouse Pad under Hardware Devices, Mice!
I have a HP Envy Touchsmart 15 Notebook. I use a USB mouse all the time. When I type I sometime drag my thumb on the touchpad which moves my curser without my noticing it. Can I disable the touchpad. My OS is 64 bit Windows 8.1 .
I've got a Dell Inspiron 1420 with XP, bought in Malaysia almost 5 years ago. It was working fine till a month ago when the keyboard and touchpad started malfunctioning. I used an external keyboard and mouse to over ride the problem but from time to time, it acts as if a button on the built in keyboard is being pressed (for instance ctrl on the laptop is being held down so when I type the letter "f" on the external keyboard, I end up opening the Search tool). I don't know the internal mechanism of this laptop, but is there a way I could disable the laptop's keyboard and touchpad, and continue functioning only through the USB external keyboard and mouse? I tried uninstalling the drivers.
My TZ11's left mouse button has gone a bit 'soft' and it's a bit unreliable now, so using the computer is becoming very frustrating. I can see that it's pretty straight forward to take the keyboard off and get to the trackpad and mouse assembly but I need to know where to get the spare part in the UK.
best source of this part? And also the part number?
Do I need to buy a combined trackpad and mouse assembly or can I buy just the micro switches for the mouse?
When I'm using the laptop to write documents... or emails my hands brush over the touch pad and the slip act of swiping the neatly organized lines of text becomes jumbled gibberish
How do I disable the touch pad when using an external mouse?
I have a Yoga 2 11.  It seems that all of a sudden that Lenovo Transition is not disabling the mouse and keyboard until the computer is in the full tablet mode.  It used to disable these features in stand mode so when the computer is sitting on the keyboard, it's not pressing any keys. But it's not working anymore. I have uninstalled the program, re-downloaded the software from lenovo, installed it, and also checked for updates.  I also tried both drivers for windows 8 and 8.1 ....
I just bought an Acer computer, and am to the point where I am about to return it for a MAC because I cant turn off the tap to click feature. I have tried going through the control panel and messing with the mouse settings. I have tried to install the elantech driver as well as the synaptics driver. I can't get the drivers to actually work. I have contacted Microsoft and they are basically like "we don't know so go ask Acer."Â
Mouse is jumping all over the screen - I believe because it is easy to accidentally brush the touchpad while typing.
The Control Panel - Mouse on this Latitude no longer has an option to independently enable/disable the touchpad and the pointing stick - but surely there is a way to do this on this e4300.
when i put my computer into sleep sometimes i slide it onto a table, or put it in my backpack (inside a case) and now and then it will be back on when i go get it again.....
I tested it out and opening and closing the lid/pushing buttons doesn't wake it, the only thing i can do to wake it is push the power button which is sunk in (its an sr series)
New ThinkPad T440p and the first issue I encountered is there is no option to disable the touchpad when an external mouse is detected. I don't want to do it via the bios or some other hack as I use the touchpad when it is not convenient to use an external mouse. So it should be able to do the switching as needed, this is a simple feature that other manufacturers have had for years and years.  I already upgrade the UltraNav Driver to the latest v18.0.7.57 and that didn’t present a solution. I am running Windows 7 SP1 - 64bit.
I wish to disable the touch pad on my Inspiron 1545 with Windows 8.. I have a Logitech wireless mouse. Currently both the mouse and the touch pad operate the curser. I want to only use the mouse. In Windows 7 the default was mouse only as soon as the wireless interface was installed. This is not the case with Windows 8.
I've been told to go to the Device driver and select the touch pad under Mouse and other pointers. The touch pad is not listed. I've tried disabling the PC Mouse compatible but the disable button is inactive.
As a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) Â When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. Â I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. Â It comes and goes. Â I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. Â I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6. Â
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). Â If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.
Is there any way to preserve finish of the Sony Vaio FW, particularly on the mouse buttons and where the palm-rest is, I hear the silver stippled paint finish wears away leaving bare white plastic underneath.
Is there a skin or plastic screen cover that you guys use or recommend to prevent this or hide defects?
I recently picked up this bad boy for just $744 (after 12.3% bing cashback (Google it if you don't know what it is)).

Has anyone heard any other issues with this laptop?
It has the 1600x900 screen which I've heard some criticism of (I heard something about it having a one-lamp "eco" screen) but I don't know if that applies to the model I bought or how good the eco screen is.
If I can get a skin that is precut for that laptop's dimensions in particular (nothing fancy, just black would be good), that would be awesome.
I'm considering this skin, but it's not precut, and I don't know how good it is...
i have a ACER Travelmate 2482WXMi, i have done a fresh install of windows XP home, i have done a full format of the hard drive, but i have issues the touchpad will not work only in safe mode. I have installed most of the drivers through safe mode, but the mouse will only work when i connect an external mouse when it's in normal mode.
Also i do get some bad sectors on the hard drive, and it takes over 2mins to shut down the comp. I havent installed programs yet, except PC Wizard 2008. Also the laptop is not the base model with 512MB ram i have added a 1gb stick and it works fine. I am thinking maybe its the hard drive. If
Trying to get rid of these questionably useful programs -- but I don't see entries for them in add/remove programs in the control panel (or for any of the other useless VAIO software packages that come on OEM machines sans "fresh start")
My xps 16 uses 100% of CPU memory after woken up, and it's like that for a long time. I am really concerned. I have a T9550 2.66ghz cpu, and the system is brand new
I've noticed a strange occurrence with my MBP (unibody late 2009 model, 3 weeks old).
It's happened since purchase and It's intermittent and hard to isolate, but I'd like to hear if anyone has noticed this too or a potential fix. It could totally be normal.
Essentially what is happening is that my MBP's fan will sometimes ramp up to around 2700rpm after waking from sleep (typical unloaded speed is ~1900rpm). It will then slowly speed down to the typical fan speed a couple minutes afterwards.
It seems that it occurs only in battery mode and when: a) It is used on material surface, ie couch or bed OR b) It is woken quickly after entering sleep
I haven't noticed this happening when plugged into AC, perhaps because it's always on a desk when on AC?
What I've done to try : resetting the PRAM, logic, etc, reinstalled the OS (in case a software issue).
I have an XPS 12 that is the 9Q33 Haswell based model. Every time I wake the ultrabook up from sleep  mode, my sound no longer works. The services says that the windows audio service and the realtek audio service are running. But to get sound again I have to either restart both services or logout or reboot.
