This is specifically occurring on Z590, but may be there in all Z's.
If you have a USB mouse plugged in, and you go to sleep mode, and then disconnect the USB mouse, then when the laptop wakes up again, the trackpad does not work. If you plug-in the mouse at this point, the mouse works fine, but the trackpad is still entirely disabled. Vaio Control Center indicates the trackpad is still enabled, but no response at all from trackpad.
If you unplug the mouse, go to sleep, and wake up, the trackpad now works fine.
I am not sure when this bug was introduced, but can anyone replicate it as well? The trackpad seems to get disabled upon wakeup from sleep if the USB mouse was unplugged AFTER going into sleep mode.
Today my 2 week old laptop was closed, put into a fully padded laptop bag, Velcro strap over to hold it in place. Nothing else in the bag. Put in car, drove 80 miles, took out of car and setup. It noticed a small mark on the screen right where the screen folds down to the track pad. It seems the Back ridge of the track pad, has pushed onto the screen creating this mark.
I'm using either a usb or bluetooth mouse with my new XPS 15z, and i'm  getting tired of a problem...
The trackpad is impossible to shut down for good... i mean: indeed you can  disable it, turn it off, and even tell it to turn off when usb mouse is plugged, but it never really does, it always, always, always stays on for a second before shutting down...
In other words: my trackpad is disabled, both buttons and touch, and i use a bluetooth mouse. but even it is disabled, if i pass my fingers on it, the cursor moves for 1cm before shutting down... then i wait 2 minutes, and i pass my fingers on it again, and then again the cursor moves 1 cm before stopping moving.
So it is never really shut down, with the consequence i never can type text without my hand touching it and putting the cursor somewhere in the page and i have to put the cursor back to where it was, Â Â
For example it happened 5 times when typing this very text....
I have updated the cypress trackpad drivers to last up to date version...
Seriously sick of randomly clicking because my hands are too fat. I know that my previous dell had an option where it would automatically shut off the trackpad if an external mouse was detected. Is that available on the 13?
Ever since Vista SP2, I have been experiencing issues with my Z690 Vaio. Wih hibernate, the laptop just restarts when I try to resume and gives the improper shutdown error. With sleep, sometimes the laptop refuses to start or gives the BSOD. Sony support, as usual has been lackluster.
I'm having an issue with the track-pad on my Yoga 2 pro. I have had the machine for a couple of days and occasionally when I open the machine (into laptop mode) and resume from sleep the track-pad does not function (the cursor doesn't show either). When this happens I also noticed that the synaptics software icon doesn't appear in the task bar tray.  Usually restarting the machine fixes the problem but one time it took 5 or 6 restarts for it to start working again.
hello everyone i stumbled across this fantastic site looking for diagrams of how to tape the mouse pad of my vaio vgn-38e laptop has anyone got a diagram ? as the mouse pad is a bit erratic ?
I am planning to buy a bluetooth mouse for my Vaio FW. On ebay, the most listings of BT mice are devices manufactured by Microsoft, DPI, Sony, Logitech, Hewlett Packard, Dell, IOGear, and Kensington.
Which brand(s) of bluetooth mice would you recommend for use with the Sony? (participate in the poll above)
Anyone here has a Magic Mouse working with the new Z?
Because i do and have this kind of Problem: When using the normal Windows Driver, ist works perfectly, fast, responsive, no lag at all!
Unfortunately the scrool doesn`t work with this drivers.
So i installed the "hacked" one from the net. Installation was easy and fast. Drivers do update and suddenly everything works including vertical, horizontal, and 360° scroll. Zoom with ctrl-button works too.
BUT!.....The Mouse suddenly became completely unusable because of lag. sometimes it runs nice for 5 minutes and then it lags. sometimes it lags fpr just a few seconds and sometimes for minutes. its just unusable.
I found some points but for me they seem unlogical. Here we go, let me explain:
1. The WLAN is 2,4ghz and interrupts the bluetooth. people say to switch it to 5ghz. --> unlogical because i have 2,4ghz wlan and with the normal windows driver(hid) it works perfectly via bluetooth. if the frequency is the problem then it would lag all the time no matter what driver, right?
2.internal Bluetooth to weak --> unlogical because again it works with the windows driver. same hardware here so this is not possible.
I also deletetd the foxconn drivers and let windows install the normal drivers. but same thing happens. the hacked driver lags.
I got my self a Thinkpad S1 Yoga (20CD) and I have two issues;
1) The wireless lan driver fails and startup. (Dual Band AC 7260) 2) The trackpad acts as a simple mouse. (ultranav driver is installed) Â I'm running Windows 8.1pro (x64). All drivers are updated and the BIOS is updated. Â The wireless lan driver starts normally when I disable USB3 support in the bios or disable the "Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft)" in de device manager.
When I disable and enable the wireless lan driver again the driver works normally. Â The trackpad does not support actions like scrolling.
As a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) Â When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. Â I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. Â It comes and goes. Â I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. Â I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6. Â
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). Â If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.
I have a Vaio VGN-Z46GD, that will not sleep/hibernate and now will not shut down either. When I shut the lid, it sleeps for about 15 seconds and then wakes again.
On random occasions, when I set the computer to sleep or hibernate (they seem to trigger this problem equally), the computer screen will go black, the fan kicks into a steady overdrive and on/off button's green led remains solidly lit -as if the computer were still on.
The only way to fix the problem is to manually power down the computer by depressing the the on/off button.
It happened under Windows 7 RC and it is happening under Windows 7 32-bit home premium as well. I haven't used Vista for quite sometime so I don't know if is an OS-triggered issue.
Anecdotally, it seems to occur more often when I close the lid to put it into sleep, rather than do it manually through the start menu.
It also appears to be occuring with more regularity in recent days. Before it was like 10% of the time... now it is something like 30%.
My TZ11's left mouse button has gone a bit 'soft' and it's a bit unreliable now, so using the computer is becoming very frustrating. I can see that it's pretty straight forward to take the keyboard off and get to the trackpad and mouse assembly but I need to know where to get the spare part in the UK.
best source of this part? And also the part number?
Do I need to buy a combined trackpad and mouse assembly or can I buy just the micro switches for the mouse?
Here are my problems as most of you are already familar with....
Mouse freezes when system is woken up from sleep mode.
Speaker crackles and I am unable to update driver. Tried several times.
How do i make sure all my drivers are up to date? Do i have to check each one manually?
Here are the steps I have taken to try and fix these problems....
20 hours on the phone with hp tech support. (i speak fluent indian now) tried to download speaker driver - unable tried to install updated mouse driver - unable installed updated Bios - caused the dm3 to go into blue screen 3 times re-installed windows 7 - problems still exsist...............
I am not able to wake up my new laptop from sleep via USB mouse or keyboard. I would like to be able to do that because I usually keep my laptop lid closed, so the power button is not immediately accessible. I've searched the forums here and found similar issues with other models, and at least with the Inspiron 17R the problem was recently resolved with a BIOS update. I had no issues when using the same USB mouse and keyboard on an old XPS 8000.
Now for the details:
Model: Inspiron 15 (3521) BIOS: A06
USB Wake Support: Enabled
Operating System: Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit Keyboard: Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 Software: Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center Mouse: Logitech Performance Mouse MX Software: Logitech SetPoint
If I go into Device Manager, and look at various devices, I see the following:
Human Interface Devices HID-compliant consumer control device - no Power Management tab HID-compliant device - no Power Management tab Logitech HID-compliant Unifying device - no Power Management tab Logitech Unifying USB receiver - no Power Management tab Microsoft Hardware USB Keyboard - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out USB Input device - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out
Keyboards: HID Keyboard Device - no Power Management tab Microsoft USB Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 - no Power Management tab
Mice and other pointing devices: HID-compliant device - no Power Management tab Logitech HID-compliant Unifying Mouse - no Power Management tab
Universal Serial Bus controllers: Generic USB Hub - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out USB Composite Device - no Power Management tab USB Root Hub - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out USB Root Hub (xHCI) - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out
If I go into an Administrator command prompt, I get the following:
powercfg /deviceenablewake "Logitech HID-compliant Unifying device":Â You do not have permission to enable or disable device wake. powercfg /deviceenablewake "USB Root Hub":Â You do not have permission to enable or disable device wake.
From what I've been able to find online, I should be able to enable "Allow this device to wake the computer" in the Power Management tab of various devices in Device Manager, especially the USB Root Hub devices, and possibly the Logitech USB and Microsoft keyboard devices. I assume if I can get that enabled, things might work as expected.
So I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 that has all the latest drivers with BIOS A11 (Win 7 Ultimate x64)... I have all the power settings configured for correctly for sleep (no hybernate), however no matter what I try, I can't get the laptop to wake when the lid is closed via USB keyboard.
I'm using Logitech's Wave MK560 combo (unifying receiver) - both the keyboard/mouse have the wake option enabled in their hardware settings. I also have wake from USB enabled in the BIOS.
The interesting thing is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can make it sleep/wake it from the Logitech devices. With the lid closed, I can only make it sleep - the only way to wake it up is to open the lid and press the power button.
Cliffs Notes:
Lid Open : CAN sleep/wake from USB Keyboard/Mouse
Lid Closed : Can ONLY sleep - won't wake unless I open Lid&press power button
I have an Inspiron 15R (5537) that has all the latest drivers with Dell BIOS A01 (Windows 8). I have the options for closing the lid set at "Do Nothing" for both battery and plugged in, however no matter what I try, when the lid is closed I can't get the laptop to wake via USB keyboard or mouse.
Both the keyboard and mouse have the wake option enabled in their hardware settings. Â I also have wake from USB enabled in the BIOS.
The interesting thing is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can make it wake it from the keyboard or mouse. Â But with the lid closed, the only way to wake it up is to open the lid and press the power button.
Summary:
Lid Open : CAN wake from USB Keyboard/Mouse.
Lid Closed : Won't wake unless I open lid and press power button.
I bought a new Acer E5-571-5552 recently, it came with Windows 8.1 64bit. One of the ways I use my laptop often is in "docked mode", basically connect it to external monitor via HDMI, and external USB mouse & keyboard. I set the windows power options for "close lid" to do nothing, then it works fine like a desktop. This works fine with all other laptops I've used in the past (Lenovo, HP, Toshiba...etc). But this new Acer has trouble waking from sleep, the USB keyboard & mouse only light up, but doesn't wake up the fan/drive/monitor. I have to open the lid and press a key on the laptop (USB keyboard/mouse still doesn't).  I've opened case 3601882U and chatted with 2 agents, one had me update to latest BIOS 1.11 which didn't resolve it. The other tried to insist it was a limited feature, that the Acers had to have lid open to wake up the computer from sleep. I think this is a broken feature. Is this true for all Acers, or just this windows 8.1 model?
I'm a computer programmer and im having problems installing vista on a sony vaio. (to install XP i have to slipstream drivers into the isntallion which takes too long to do)
so i want to reinstall vista at this point for now my last install of vista somehow got screwed up oneday i booted up and it was missing windows files so i formatted it burned a vista install cd everything boots fine the install screen come up ....
I keep getting a message stating that any updates for my drivers on a VGN - C25G are not intended for use with my model (all details are correct). So, I need to resort to the universal extractor to get my FN keys, Camera and Bluetooth working on this vaio...
I have never used the universal extractor before, and am uncertain where i would need to place the extracted files once the UE has finished
