For some reason, my laptop's internet stops working after it enters sleep or hibernate mode. I have to restart my computer to get the internet working which is annoying.

i find hibernate a cool future and useing it alot..
Hibernate take a really long time to shut down, twice as long as shut down. the first thing that happens is that the monitor shuts off and then hard drive works for a while
Sleep is even clunkier. turns off monitor, it takes a few minutes to complete, sometimes when i use the FN+F1 combo it comes back on, when I close the lid usually works, but sometimes it doesn't.
at times hibernate won't work and stops in the middle of it, forcing me to shut of the laptop. then on restart it freezes a couple of times on the desktop and earlier I even got the BSOD.
I have 10+ years experience, but I cant resolve this bug. I have a 3560 Vostro, new running win7. It has never went to sleep or hibernate properly. I have set it to go to sleep after 10 minutes and hibernate after 120 minutes, neither work as I wake up the next morning to find the laptop still running. ALSO I set the power button to "hibernate" and when pressing that it takes me to the log into windows screen. It seems like the computer goes to hibernate and IMMEDIATELY wakes up to the login screen.
Is there a program or setting that is preventing the PC from sleep/hibernation?
The computer will go into hibernation without any problems.
When I power the computer back up, it starts up I see the starting windows screen. That screen goes blank and then nothing happens.
I just updated the BIOS to A15 and that did not work. I have tried uninstalling the video driver and that did not work. I tried installing an older video driver and no luck there.
The video driver I have for the NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M show version 8.17.12.5922
thought that hibernate was better because it turns off the computer and saves battery except on my laptop the power button is defaulted to sleep so I would have thought that they would default it to that for a reason.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have Vostro V131 model with 64 bit Windows 7 pro (preinstalled) The laptop stacks when is going to sleep/ hibernate (lid close/button press / via windows etc, doesn't matter. Power button/indication stays on & white leds indicator (power & wireless stay on). I was waiting for a long time , but no reaction. To return back to normal mode I need or to press power button for 6 sec (for power off and then power on) or remove power connector & remove battery.
I updated BIOS to v05, saw some suggestions in sw sleep configuration, but it doesn't work.
The options Hibernate and Sleep are there but I cant select them, also the laptop turns off automaticly after some time and gets hot. Its a vostro 1320 runing windows 7 and without battery.

When I shut the lid, it sleeps for about 15 seconds and then wakes again.
Also, the same when I click the sleep button.
I have a Dell Inspiron 14x 5423 that will reboot/restart but will not shut down, sleep, or hibernate. The screen shows shutting down, the screen and the hard drive turns off, but the power light and fan stay on until the battery dies in the laptop. I hold the power button and everything shuts off. When booting, I do not get the windows improperly shut down error the I normally get when I just hold the power button to shut off the computer so I suspect the operating system is shut down! I have tried updating bios to A13, video drivers, Chipset drivers, and Windows 8.1, The laptop passes all diagnostics.I even tried admin command prompt and "shutdown /s /f /h 0" command with no different results. Changed all settings in Control Panel to enable sleep and/or hibernate. I downloaded KB hot-fix which says it is for Windows 7 as another test.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since Vista SP2, I have been experiencing issues with my Z690 Vaio. Wih hibernate, the laptop just restarts when I try to resume and gives the improper shutdown error. With sleep, sometimes the laptop refuses to start or gives the BSOD. Sony support, as usual has been lackluster.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Windows 8.1 on my R61 and have a problem with sleep/hibernate. It never goes to this state, iI should stead LCD switch off but computer still runs. The only way to get back is switch off power and restart.
If I manually disable wireless driver before pressing sleep, then it goes to sleep state successfully. Which driver i should use.
Why does my E1-521 laptop shut down every time? Regardless of what I select, sleep, hibernate, close lid, it still shuts down. That is not what power buttons are set up to do, seems to make no difference what those settings do. It may be a coincidence, but I think I started having problems when I turned on "OneDrive".. which I can't seem to turn off! Running Windows 8.1....

View 9 Replies View RelatedI’ve had the T430s for about a year. Whenever the laptop goes into sleep/hibernate mode, I hear a high pitched hum come from the bottom back section of the laptop. It also becomes noticeably louder when I unplug the AC adapter. I've put my ear to the laptop to try to identify where exactly the noise is coming from. I attached a picture with the general vicinity circled.
I don’t think I explained the issue to the repair centre properly. They ended up replacing the fan the first time I sent it in for repair. The second time I sent it, they replaced the system board. However, it continues to emit that high pitched hum.
Am I being too sensitive to the noise or is this something that can be fixed? I’m just past my warranty and I’m afraid if there is a problem that isn’t identified, I’ll be stuck with it for the next few years.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS M1530. Since I am a college student, and when I usually leave class, I just close my laptop.
let it go to sleep, and put it in my bag. The problem lately has been that when I close my laptop, it does not go into sleep mode, even though it is set for it to do this.
It will do this on both battery and AC power. I will put it into sleep overnight so it is in sleep when I put it in my bag in the morning.
And once last week I put it in there thinking it was a sleep and then 3 hours later while I was at work,
I had not brought it out yet, and opened my bag and the laptop never turned off, it had been running the whole time and was hot, and had 22 minutes of battery left.........
I thought sleep mode only occured when you did not touch the mouse or keyboard for a specific period of time but my new ultrabook is dimming and locking me out while I am typing. I have to push the blinking power button and then I have the blue screen with CTRL+ALT+DELETE (work laptop).I cannot find any sleep mode settings and perhaps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard suddenly stopped working after waking my computer up from sleep. The on screen and touch keyboard still function normally as well as the mouse touch pad built into the laptop, but the physical keyboard does not. The LED for the CAPS LOCK button wont even light up when pressed. The keyboard back lights however do turn on and off when the computer is powered on or flipped between tablet and laptop mode.
I have tried restarting the computer on several occasions as well as doing a complete shut down. I have updated all drivers and even uninstalled all of my keyboard drivers to no effect. I have tried running a diagnostic, but I either get an error that says the diagnostic could not run or that no data has been collected by the testing. All other scans of my computer show no issues.
My Sleep button stopped recently. I installed TuneUp Utilities 2013. will this be a problem? There are three buttons on the top right of the key board. First one is working fine but the remaining two are not functioning. when I press them, button is glowing in white for a couple of seconds and nothing happening.
I generally use my lappy to listen to music and while it plays, I used to put the monitor off to save power. But suddenly it stopped working. Is this a hardware problem or something else? I tried restoring the power options but didn't solve the issue.
And my laptop is taking so much (around 15 minutes) for re-booting. Of course I have installed many programs. I make sure to remove all the un-necessary start up programs. I have a 8 GB RAM. But when compared to other laptops, it is taking really huge time to start!
Every time when the laptop goes to sleep mode by itself and I turn it on again, the touch screen will be partly unresponsive, to be more specific, it is the upper part of the screen. The problem is only at the screen, mouse and touchpad are working fine. Now I can solve the problem by pressing power button to let it sleep and press again to turn it on, but I don't want to do this everyday.
View 5 Replies View RelatedApparently its a common problem on the SXPS 13 where the Ethernet adapter fails to work after the system resumes from sleep. It is caused by the NVIDIA chipset driver.
Can you check if yours is working correctly after the system resumes from Standby or sleep? If so, can you post what OS you are using? Which driver(Win 7 or Dell one)?
My question concerns the non-functioning sleep mode buttons on my Lenovo W540 20BG.
In my current power management settings, the W540 is suppose to enter sleep mode by pressing Fn4 or by pressing the round power button shortly. However, either one of these methods do not work.
My computer does enter sleep mode when usign the Windows start menu (Start->Shut Down -> Sleep).
Some times when I resume laptop from SLEEP, wireless are not working...

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, I just got my shiny new T540p with a 3K display and Win Pro 8 installed. I promptly upgraded to Win 8.1 Pro and now I have a problem with the Intel HD Graphics. Basically, the system will not turn the display on after a sleep and I can't adjust brightness.
I tried downloading the drivers from the support page, but they reference a Intel(R) HD Graphics 5000 card, whereas my system says it has a Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 installed. When I try to run the driver install anyway, I get a message saying that my system does not meet the minimum requirement for installation (?).
I tried manually installing the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family driver instead. This fixed sleep and brightness control, but then all things 3D was completely messed up (like buttons in Skype and Chrome).
I am convinced that the fingerprint reader is fine. There must be some issue with the driver perhaps, something incompatible with a recent Windows 7 software update?
Laptop working fine. I put it to sleep when I'm done and use the mousepad to wake it up. The fingerprint reader LED will blink, and I can swipe my finger to log on.At some point, after a few times of putting laptop to sleep and waking up, the fingerprint reader does not respond. No blinking LED. I swipe my finger and the reader does not respond at all -- doesn't even tell me that there was a bad read.If I log off and log back on again, no change. However, if I do a reboot, everything is fine--the fingerprint reader is working again.
My system is an HP dv6-6145dx. I am running Windows 7, with latest updates. The built-in fingerprint reader is running on HP Simple Pass 2011 v5.1 and Validity Sensor driver version 4.3.205.0. When I attempt to launch the Simple Pass interface, it loads the database but then the application vanishes. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the software, but this does not make any difference with the issue I noted.
I'm not sure if any other user has experience this issue. I did a lenovo update couple weeks back and since then my wireless adapter would not work after waking up from sleep mode. It shows that the wireless adapter is connected to wireless network but the internet would not work. The only way i can make it work is by disabling the wifi adapter by putting the laptop in airplane mode and then bringing it back out from it. Disabling and enabling the wireless adapter does a quick fix and does allow me to use the internet without any issue for the time being. i have also uninstalled and reinstalled fresh drivers from lenovo website, still having the same problem.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new T540P with a Validity fingerprint reader.
Rougly 80% of the time, the Fingerprint reader is unresponsive at the windows login screen after waking the computer from sleep. It works 100% of the time when booting from an off position, however. Once logged in, it also works 100% of the time. The issue only arises when logging into windows.
Things I have tried
-uninstalling/installing device in device manager and finger print manager pro software
-setting fingerprints through both fingerprint manager pro software (lenovo) OR through the built in windows fingerprint control panel options
-disabling "allow windows to turn off this device to save power" in device manager.
I should note as well that I have another T540P that I ordered as a replacement. Both models experience the same issue.
Is this a platform wide issue affecting all T540P models?
