this evening she shutdown out of the blue. i figured it was odd and turned it back on and what a surprise i got.
grey, red, blue and white pinstripe vertical lines across the entire screen. i watched it for a time and it took a few seconds but i noticed that in the lower right hand corner it was more faded then the rest of the screen.
then the fade began to grow the grow before it encompassed the entire screen. the lines were still there but the screen was much lighter. it almost looked like celluloid was burning through on an old projector.
i shut it off, let it cool for a few minutes and tried it again.
this time the top 4th of the screen had the white lines and below that it was simply black.
she's never been dropped. never had a spill. so i figured id do some searching and this does not seem to be a common problem.................
When I boot off the DVD (doesn't matter if it's the MSDN RTM or the 90 day Enterprise trial, nor does 32 or 64 bit matter), it just hangs. It doesn't start Windows 7's setup process, doesn't give an error message, doesn't boot into Vista.
Also, potentially related, her laptop is running a hacked BIOS that removes the white list. (I stole her 4965N and put it in my MSI MS-1651. When I sold it off, I put the Atheros 5007EG from my NC10 in its place). I don't know if this would be the cause for it to hang, but given its lack of problem booting Vista, XP, Ubuntu, or Mint discs, I doubt it.
I'm getting a DV8000 on Wednesday that has a 3945ABG in it. I would like to, assuming the card is working (light's on, but Device Manager didn't see it, optical drive was busted so I couldn't boot into Linux at the time, hoping it's a software SNAFU), put it in her DV9548US and boot back to the official HP BIOS. Anyone know of any problems running a 3945ABG in the DV9500 series? I know it came in earlier DV9000s, so I hope the model would support it; with the fact that it's an HP card, I'm hoping that it will not throw white list errors as well.
(I'll be running a hacked BIOS on the DV8000 to run the Atheros 5007EG in it if all goes well.)
Whenever I play a game, sooner or later, the computer just promplty shuts down. The part of the computer which holds the graphics card is then generally very very hot, which leads me to guess that this is the problem. Note that it sometimes can run for several hours without complications, but other times it wont even take half an hour. It's getting very frustrating and this combined with a lot of other issues makes it an altogether very unpleasent experience using HP.
I have updated the bios, but not changed anything in it - no overclocking or anything.
i'm having performance issues with Gears of war. I can play "Maxed" at 1920x1200, plays around 29-40FPS, very smooth during firefights and all. But when I move around it pauses severel times, and my 2.6Ghz Merom at 100% of both cores! It also happens when I switch everything to low, people with the cheap 2.2Ghz could run this game at medium-high.
Just installed the 186.03 nVidia driver on my M1730. Then tried to view a movie and it took forever to load (mkv/avi/mp4). I have seen a couple of people bashing the 186.03. I am now wondering what the optimal driver(s) are for my SLI config of 8800GTX. My other question is how do I uninstall the previous drivers in a correct matter?
Has been soo long since I post anything on this great forum! I appreciate everyone's time here, and thank you all for taking some time to help me diagnose this problem. Anyways here is the problem: I bought a "broken" Dell M1210 from ebay. The cosmetics of the laptop looks very good: no dents, few scratch marks, and almost no blemishes. It did not came with a hard drive, only an AC adapter. Currently, I am trying to transfer ownership to me and will be trying to buy warranty for my m1210 once the transfer is complete. My m1210 is a little more then 1 month out of warranty coverage period. I have completely disassemble the laptop and examine the motherboard, it looks and smells new. Internally, everything is very, very clean. The motherboard model of mine is HN110, the one that has the geforce 7400gs in it. However, the batter is bad because it holds no power. I have tried on my friend's m1210 and checked it through Dell utilities and it gave a thumbs down. I cannot confirm if the LCD, speaker, sound card, processor, system fan, heatsink, and camera are fine, or not. I am able to confirm the ram, wireless card, and the CD drive are perfectly functional. I have yet to test those under performance conditions. The main problems is: I am unable to turn on the laptop. I have tried 5 different adapters: 2 Dell m1210, 1 E1705, 1 E1505, and 1 Targus universal adapter. All of them do not work on the laptop. When I plugged a Dell adapter into my m1210, the AC adapter shuts off. The green light on the Dell AC Adapter shuts off. I tried my friend's charged battery to power up my laptop;however, my m1210 still will not power on. I have not find a way to test the circuit board on my m1210 and my friend is very, very wary of me opening up their laptop. So anything that involves me trying different parts on his laptop will be almost impossible for me to ask for, he is a noob.
My Dell XPS 1530 can operate using an iGo everywhereMAX laptop adapter with the 202 tip, but it will not charge the battery, even when the laptop is a sleep or powered down.
I've got a problem with a brand new SXPS 1340, and I can't figure out if the trouble is in the hardware or the software...
On Vista, the wireless keeps dropping out and loosing connection... or fails to establish connection. This laptop is the only computer in my network that's affected; all other systems run fine (including a really OLD Dell laptop with an equally old external MS WiFi card... oh, the irony!).
Also... you know how when you search for WiFi networks it takes a while? Well, when it starts to go haywire, it seems to search for networks instantly, as if the card were off.
But what makes me think this is a software issue, is the fact that when I installed Windows 7, the WiFi worked flawlessly (and seemed to have better signal strength) with the built in drivers... and went haywire AFTER I had installed the drivers from Dell's site. (I'm in the process of confirming this right now; setting up W7 again and I'm going to run a "ping router /t" for a while.* )
ive been having hard drive trouble where it says hard drive failure iminent. but I don't think that's my problem. My internet lags so bad on my aspire 5100, like when im trying to watch a streaming video it loads 3 seconds then stops, loads 3 seconds then stops. But when I plug my wifes dell laptop or my desktop into the same connection theres no lag at all. Would this have anything to do with my hard drive?
I have the Inspiron 1525 which I upgraded to 2GB of ram (not much but runs smoother then the original 1GB I had). As for the 1 problem formatting will not fix it's the AC Adapter which it will not recognize.
It's the original that it came with aand it runs with the battery pulled but will not Recognize the adapter and thus charge the battery. Will that problem get fixed if I ever get it formatted? .....
I was getting frustrated with my external monitor because the screen color was turning dark purplish at times, so I went into Device Manager and deleted both default monitor entries instead of just one under Monitors in hopes that it would've gotten rid of the purple haze so to speak.
I tried unhooking the monitor and unplugging everything before I deleted the default monitor entries in Device Manager, but it didn't get rid of the purple screen.
I have a fairly old notebook Dell Inspiron 4000 with WinMe installed and the display is no longer working assumed due to a bad or broken LCD, which is why I'm using the external monitor.
The external monitor has been working fine for months until it started turning purple on me when it was being used with the notebook. When the monitor is hooked up with my desktop, the screen color is just fine.
The notebook has got a lot of storage on it. During the boot process on the notebook, the external monitor lights up at one point (no longer purplish), but goes blank/dark after a few seconds and says it no longer is getting a signal from the notebook
As already mentioned my laptop will only use integrated hd 3000 graphics while i have a 6770m onboard.
I have good drivers for both (or i assume since there's no warning in device manager). Whenver I try to play a game though, only the integrated graphics are available and it doesn't switch while playing because i get 20 fps on lowest settings while playing while i could play most games with up to 60 fps on high. Catalyst control center also has a problem while installing because my hardware version isn't supported even though the auto detect picked the download i need. It is a common problem with alienware laptops as far as i found on the web but these all have nvidia graphic cards.

You can't Change your Graphics card, is there any graphics card that i can use through the PCI express slot, or the the expansion port? the laptop is hp pavillion dv2000 (exactly: dv2132ea) since i don't want to go through the hassle of changing my laptop. I just need a better vga card
I recently downloaded an AMD driver update. It removed the switchable graphics option and I have spent hours searching the internet on how to get it back. I can't find any drivers or anything to get it back. Also after I did this Sony Vegas won't open. I have a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, Windows 7 64-bit. Is there any drivers or anything I can download to get switchable graphics back?
I bought a new ext. harddrive (Verbatim 3.5" 1TB QUAD INTERFACE) in order to connect it to my laptop (Acer Aspire 5930, Win Vista, SP1) via eSATA port. However this does not work at all. The computer simply does not detect the hard drive. The same trouble appeared when i tried to connect the drive to another machine, so it is possible its simply broken down. But the USB connection works pretty well.

updating my radeon 7670m with latest amd driver ,removes amd catalyst driver(previously installed) and also intel HD driver,thus disabling the graphics hardware in my Hp pav g6 2006tx.this problem is occuring since when my OS was reinstalled my HP service(They said that i had issues with my previous OS win 7 ultimate) , prior to this installation i had never encounterd such upadting problems .Games lag when i play with my default driver as it does not support many of the new ones !.CURRENT OS : WIN 7 ultimate with sp 1
After updating my ccc to version 14.2 , i get a message saying no amd graphics driver detected and i have to again uninstall the entire AMD CCC using AMD clean up utility to reinstall the amd driver given by HP.The driver provided by HP is very old and doesnt support many new games .

I'm having trouble finding a video or a graphics driver for a hp pavilion dv8315nr notebook pc The product and model number is EZ580UA#ABA the version of windows in my computer is windows 7, my computer has completed all of its important Windows Updates. I have updated my HP drivers using the hp support system, it is an on-going, or recent issue.
I have installed windows 7 64 bit. I have downloaded NVIDIA graphics driver. When i am trying to install it , it shows me error that install Intel Driver first.
So i am looking for Intel Graphics driver for my Laptop HP 15 n-204tx (Windows 7 64-bit)
I installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 x64 to my HP Pavilion G6 2240SH laptop. I started install the drivers and I got an error message in the Intel High-Definition setup: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."
HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC 15-n004TX. It came with ubuntu. 1 GB Radeon grphics card. I reinstalled ubuntu 14.04 formatted disk completely.
After installation, when rebooted, it gives error: "The system is running in low graphics mode. Your screen, graphics card and input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself."
And then runs in character user interface, and does not detect usb, so i can't install drivers.
I have tried installing ubuntu 12.04 also. I have tried installing in legacy mode. I have tried OEM Manufacturer mode.
In all the cases same thing happens. I want to use my computer.
I had to clean install Windows 7 due to a problem I created in the first place. Anyway, everything runs fine, except for the Radeon graphic card.
I own a HP Pavilion g6-1279sl Notebook. It's supposed to have an Intel HD Graphics 3000 and a AMD Radeon HD6470M.
I installed the last version of the Catalyst driver, and when I right click on the desktop, it says "switchable graphics", but if I click on that, it just shows me another option from the Catalyst, HydraGrid.
Using a tool that displays which graphic card is running, I noticed that even when I'm running games, the Intel Graphic Card is working, giving an overall worse performance than the Radeon should give. I mean, the Radeon is never working. I also tried to disable the Intel from Device Manager (I think it's called like this, I have an Italian laptop), and it gave problems due to the Radeon card not working properly.
The BIOS is updated and no option is there about Switchable Graphics.
Is there anything I can do to have back that feature?
I have in my system NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated) video graphics preinstalled. I had downloaded & installed latest updates for NVIDIA i.e., nvidia graphics driver 335.23, geforce experience 2.0 & physx sytem software 9.13.1220 via hp support assistant following a software update alert 1 month back after i bought my lap.
Today i had to refresh my system due to an error in search charm not listing hp recovery manager {,following uninstall & reinstall of latest hp support assistant 1week back (details can be read from this link: Search Charm Win8.1 Error). anyway search charm error has been resolved.}
But when i checked hp support assistant today for updates, couldnt get any related to nvidia. my nvidia is still old version - nvidia graphics driver 327.02, nvidia physx system software 9.13.0604, nvidia update 1.14.17.
I'm getting update error while clicking Update on nvidia control panel in system tray icon & in nvidia settings.
when i checked nvidia website the update is there for download & also latest nvidia graphic driver update is there in HP Product website too. mine is not the version present in the website at present.
My question is should i download it from websites or should i wait till it come in support assistant. Though there is no visible issue in my system without the update that im aware of. But an update error message is showing while i click update in nvidia settings. also nvidia is not present in start up apps in task manager (or rather no graphics app is present in startup). What should i do?
I have a HP Pavilion dv7-6c73ca Entertainment Notebook PC 2.2 GHz 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz.. Running Microsoft Windows 7 home edition 64 bit.
The Standard VGA Graphics Adapter gives me this error message: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
