I really need the detailed (exploded views, part numbers, screw counts, repair/breakdown information ect...) soon, I was given (for fixing a customers old Dell) a 3680-2682 for nada, but it has a shattered LCD screen. I've got a replacement on the way but I need the service manual for obvious reasons...

I want to put this bluetooth module [url] into my notebook Aspire 5720G, but I don't have the service manual.
I tried to find it on internet, but I wasn't successful. I found only sites, where they want money for it... It should be teh same for Aspire 5520 series (both are the same Nettiling).

I bought acer travelmate 3284 several years ago (perhaps in 2006). The biggest problem of my laptop is the very high temperature which appeared whenever the laptops idle.
I plan to disassamble my laptop, but i don't have the service manual. I searched several times in google and forums, but found nothing.

I'm trying to open the display to change the lcd on my aspire 5050, but I can't get the cover off around the top under the built in webcam, and don't want to break it. Does anyone have a service manual or can guide me on what I need to do to get the cover off around this area?

I need to know how to get the memory cover off. Even after removing the four screws it acts like one corner near the indent by the RAM icon is snapped into it or glued down. The cover is huge, over half the bottom of the case.
I'm also interested in upgrading the 1.73 Ghz Celeron M 530 if it's possible. Eventually I plan to upgrade the DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive to a DVD burner, so the manual will be handy for that too.

screen problem on a Compaq nx6125.
Some time ago I was helping a friend troubleshoot her laptop which, among other things, wouldn't display anything on the screen. One of the things I tried was to take the display cable from her laptop's motherboard and connect it directly to my nx6125's screen. A bad idea, as it turns out, because after that my Compaq's screen appeared dead as well. Only the backlight still worked, so the screen was entirely light grey-ish when the laptop was turned on.
Hence question one: can something like that kill a laptop screen?
Anyway, I tried a few things to try and isolate the problem on my Compaq. Connecting an external monitor via VGA showed that the video card was fine, as the picture showed up on the external monitor. I also tried taking another old laptop I have and connecting its screen to my Compaq's display cable. Not smart, yes, considering that's how I busted my Compaq in the first place, but that other laptop is basically a brick anyway, with a non-working screen backlight among other things, and I mostly use it for parts. Anyway, the screen showed a faint picture, which leads me to conclude that the display cable on my Compaq is fine and that it is indeed the screen itself that's busted.
Question two: is there anything else I could check, or any repairs to attempt, before springing for a new screen on eBay?
Speaking of a new screen, there are two different ones available on eBay for the nx6125 - XGA and SXGA+. The laptop originally came with an XGA screen, and I wouldn't mind upgrading to SXGA+ while I'm at it, but I want to be sure the screen is 100% compatible.
So question three: are the screens availble on eBay in general, and the SXGA+ screens in particular, a 100% fit for my nx6125?

I purchased a DV9500 laptop 2yrs ago for my personal business. One year into it's life the Nvidia GPU dies and I send it in for a motherboard replacement. After some searching it appears there is a major problem with the 8600 series of Nvidia GPUs. While there they also replace the keyboard (which had absolutely nothing wrong with it), but while replacing the keyboard they cracked the left corner of the top of the case.
I called HP when I received the laptop back and the only solution was to send it back (again) and be without my laptop and applications for at least another week. Kind of hard to use Dreamweaver and Photoshop when they are 2000 miles away!
Guess what? Exactly one year later... Nvidia GPU dies again. . Call HP on 6/26 to get the box shipped and again mention the case issue. I figure since I HAVE to send it in again that now would be a good time to get the case fixed. They received the laptop on 7/1 with an expected return date of 7/8, which I didn't worry about because they usually return well before the date promised........

I called HP to try and get a quote on the envy 15, unsurprisingly I get a foreign sales rep. I tell them I'm trying to get a quote to compare prices between this and the m15x which is almost the same price. Dell customer support had no trouble understanding this and talked with me. The HP rep was literally just telling me things I could find on the website I've called HP 3 times and I get a bad rep each one.

I rescued an old laptop (Compaq Presario 1200XL500) from the recycling bin and would like to make it usable for a sixth grader. It boots with the base RAm but I would have to add one module. I need to find a user and/or service manual first so that I understand what this old laptop needs. No manuals seem to be available on the HP site. Are there other sites where I might find one?

I wanted to share my recent experience with HP and to serve as a warning for anyone else planning on checking out the hp envy 15. I was one of the first to buy the envy from the day it was launched back in fall of last year, but had to return it due to a bad gpu. That was fine and the return went alright, and I ordered the 2nd gen one the day it was announced as well and I got it with the new core i5 processor and matte screen. The laptop was delayed in its delivery like many of the other members here and I got it around the beginning of February (so about a 1 month delay). Of course HP had no problem in charging me within hours of me placing the order and 1 month out from when I would actually receive it due to their own delays.
Since then it had been running just fine for the most part, with just a lot of heat build-up when playing any sort of game. Eventually however there seems to have been some longer-term repercussions due to the heat, namely that the edges started to expand out and peel away from the case. This led to the edges starting to chip off (I'm talking about the bright silver plastic edge that outlines the laptop). I published an early review for the envy 15 for the first gen model in case you wanted pictures of the palmrest edges. I could clearly see in at least one corner that due to heat build-up it seemed as though the adhesive that was holding the plastic edge to the main case was getting loose and as a result of the plastic was bulging out........

I got an HP Envy 15 recently with the Bing CB deal on the day it was released; but have found that an SSD on that machine would probably be necessary for my needs. I posted some questions in the owners' lounge, but haven't since gotten any response, so I assume that people there may not know the answers. So I want to see if people in the broader HP forum would be familiar with these things.
When I purchased this machine, HDD was the only option, and the HDD is not listed as a user serviceable component. But in the last couple of days, the SSD option is up on the HP website; so I can see several options that maybe available to me, depending on HP policies. Is anyone here familiar with HP policies regarding:
1) Returns of products, does the 21 days mean 21 days from purchase, or 21 days from the time that I receive the product?
2) Returns of products that was purchased with warranty? I did purchase with the 3 year accidental; but I have not activated the service with the machine yet.
3) Exchange of products, how easily could it be done through HP, for the same machine of a different configuration?
4) Bing cash back, would it still be valid if I decided to exchange it for the same machine of a different configuration?
5) Since the HDD doesn't seem to be a consumer serviceable part, would it endanger the warranty if I changed out the drive myself? Or would they even care about that?
6) How easily can HP parts such as the 1.8" brackets be obtainable from HP, some time in the next few months; based on experiences with HP products in the past.
I guess depending on the answers to these questions, I would have the option of A) returning and buying anew; B) exchange for another configuration through HP; C) change out the HDD myself with a 2.5" and just forget about it; D) wait until the appropriate parts are available, then change it out with two 1.8" drives.
I would like to keep the BCB; but if there is no other way of getting an SSD into that machine, then I might just have to let that go, and try to find some lesser discount to work with.
