View 3 RepliesI received my envy 15 yesterday and tried clean install once.
Problem is that the touchpad didn't work if I used any of the old drivers even the one from HDD. Three version, one from HDD, two from the thread.
But with the newest driver [url],'double tap to disable touchpad' doesn't work well.
It can be disabled by double tap but can't be enabled again.
I have to enable the touchpad from the config page.
Actually I want to use the originally version from HDD.
I want to use the feature of designating different functions of three corner.
Is there any way to disable the "click" feature on the main part of the touchpad? Like if I tap my finger on the touch pad I do not want it to act as if I had left-clicked...
View 4 Replies View RelatedGot a DV7-1240us, been playing with it for a couple of weeks, have until this monday to obtain another or refund no q's asked.
I love it, but the touchpad ... towards the keyboard side, it appears to be "loose".
What I mean is that it has a bit of give on it if you press your finger down on it, the touchpad itself is not "attached" to any of its sides (you have to look at this model to know what I mean).
I'm thinking it is held on by double sided tape or something, and if I wanted to correct this myself, I could pry it up carefully and retape, but you know how that goes.
so I'm posting here in hopes someone else with this model, or one who knows HP's better than I do can tell me whether or not I can attempt to fix, should attempt to fix, or just get another one (in which I would have to worry about any other issues cropping up, I already returned one last week because the right shift key's scissors failed on me).
I have a HP Pavilion DV2000.
I think Touchpad button worn out!!
When I click on left button (touch pad) on the laptop, it is not responding but I have to press it quite hard then it will response. it is really annoying..
dv6000 touchpad not recognized by driver. Also blue led always on and not effected by pushing on/off button. Had replaced motherboard due to failure just before this. All else works fine including usb mouse.

View 6 Replies View Relatedfrom most reviews you see people complaining that it's the worst trackpad they've ever used, but then there are some people who get used to how it works and find it not so bothersome... after owning my dm3 for 2 weeks, i realized that i naturally learned how to "glide" over the trackpad instead of pressing against it (like you would with a normal trackpad). when i've kept his in mind, navigating around windows becomes much easier for me.
View 5 Replies View Relatedit looks like Synaptics has added gesture support for their touchpads with just a software update. [url] The website says the software is backwards compatible with computers purchased in the last year or so. I just got my HDX18t a week ago and can't seem to get it to work.
View 10 Replies View RelatedYesterday it prompted me to install a whole crap load of uploads onto my computer.
So after the Nvidia and two others (can't remember them) I was prompted up download a new driver that would solve the problem of the scroll randomly not working.
Well they solved the random part but now it's not scrolling at all.
Is there some trick to this? like 1 in 8 times it actually scrolls, it's not even smoothl, it like jumps, not smoothly scrolls the page.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI currently own a HDX9494nr, and my touchpad and buttons are not working. I don't want to send it back, as this is my main computer, and I depend on it for work and leisure. Any suggestions for me? Maybe something I can fix, instead of shipping it back to HP and having no computer for two weeks? BTW, the cursor moves, but it dosen't respond when i tap it to open links or programs.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had to buy a replacement HP AC adapter because the original one stopped working. So I went out and bought the HP 90w AC/Auto/Air Smart Adapter (The box says 8510p is compatible).
When I plug in the laptop, the touchpad seems to go out of whack and jumps around at times. When I remove the AC power, the touchpad works perfectly.
There are a couple of differences written on the back of the adapters:
Output (Original Adapter): 19V / 4.74A
Output (Replacement): 19.5V / 4.62A
It is an Authentic HP replacement part (KS474AA #ABA / 481197-002).
I noticed that the front (closest to the keyboard) edge of the trackpad has come unsealed from the topcase in the center, so not only is there a bit of flex, but if I actually press down the front of the trackpad moves down independent of the case. The trackpad still works fine, but I worry this might become an issue later on. Is this a known issue? Should I contact customer support?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got a basic Logitech USB mouse (model UAE-96). I plugged it into my Thinkpad T60 laptop, and the mouse pointer was kind of jerky when I moved it around. But the mouse pointer moved very smoothly when I used the touchpad.
I thought the mouse might be defective, so I plugged it into my HP laptop, and the mouse pointer moved very smoothly, so it wasn't defective. Both laptops are running Windows XP Pro SP3, and are using the exact same driver version.
Then I tried downloading the latest software from Logitech, but that didn't help with my Thinkpad, the mouse pointer was still jerky.
So I thought I might try a different brand mouse. I got a Microsoft mouse, and it is also kind of jerky when I move it around on my Thinkpad.
when I use a real mouse, but it is smooth when I use the touchpad?
Regarding the trackpoint and touchpad on the Dell m4400 and the Lenovo t500. I've understood that most people think the touchpad on the t500 is better. But how big is the difference between them? Will I even notice any difference? Is it the software or the hardware that makes the difference?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to scroll with my pointing stick using the pointing stick middle button, but no matter what I set it at with the synaptics software it will only perform the action which the touchpad middle button is set at.
Am I missing some check box I need to uncheck, or something else that I am not seeing. I already tried updating the driver and uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and I tried it with the touchpad disabled, but nothing has worked.
I have been using HP Business laptops for a couple of years. In all my laptops after a year or so the rubber buttons wear off/tear. Is it possible to somehow replace the rubber without changing the touchpad.
Models i am talking about are 6530b, 6510b, etc.
Somehow my Synaptics Touchpad on my Compaq V2000 (Model 2402) got zapped today and will not power on at all. This is different than the usual driver problem that makes you think it is turned off. I was tightening up a screw that is close to the pad itself while it was running and the notebook suddenly just turned off. Everything is fine but the touchpad will not power on. It was getting pretty useless regardless. I have been using a regular usb mouse most of the time for almost a year now but still need the touchpad for the obvious. ANyone here replace their pad? I haven't found one used or new yet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just finished installing Windows 7 on my new dv7-1285dx and while everything works just fine after a Windows update (audio/video/touchpad/sd card reader), when I run device manager there are three devices with no drivers and a small yellow exclamation mark on their icon. These three devices are all listed as "Base System Device" and when I tried searching for a driver update online it didn't find anything. I visited HP's drivers page for my model and I think I have everything listed there already working... It's just these three devices which I don't even know what they are.
In the original Vista install that came with the laptop there are no such errors in Device Manager. I already have my recovery discs if these might help in this situation.
Here my laptops full specs, you can find them here:

I have three user profiles in my Compaq Presario CQ-42, one is administrator and others are "Other User". When I fisrt saw the synaptics touch pad settings window through my first "Other User" profile 1, in Mouse Properties->Device Settings->Synaptics LuxPad V7.4->Settings, all the options in this window were available for selection and no one was diabled. Now when I go to "Administrator" Profile, Some of the options in this settings window are disabled and appear to be partly hidden. Like the option "Enable Pinch Zoom in Pinch Zoom section" and "Enable Pivot Rotate in Rotating" appears to be hidden/disabled.
For verifying this, I created the another "Other user" profile 2 but no success and I found the same problem here also. I also tried to unistall the synaptics driver several times from all the profiles but every time I re-installed them and checked to get the same result. The settings were only accessible for "Other User" Profile 1 each time and were disable for Administrator profile and "Other User" Profile 2. I can produce the snaps of same if required.
I have a bit of problem with the touchpad on my vaio laptop
in my house downstairs when my laptop is plugged in and placed on the floor or surface the touchpad becomes un useable really slow but as soon as i disconnect the psu the touchpad works.
in another room all works ok and when the laptop is plugged in upstairs all is ok.!!! even on the carpet
One solution mentioned on NBR was the improved insulation - but there may be another one.
Or maybe the "mad mouse" is static and the inverted mouse is something else.
My laptop was gettig very bad with the inverted mouse - and it didn't seem to be static related.
I just did some googling - [url] this seemed promising (the detailed driver analysis for XP) - unistalling of the touchpad driver to be specfic
I ujst did it and my mouse is no longer inverted - of course I loose some functionaltiy too (scrolling etc.)
But tapping works, and clicking too and moving the mouse.
I hope I'll remember to drop back in at a later date to tell you how it works out - it the mouse no longer inverts without the Alps driver.
My SZ is a SZ71VN/X
No, the inverted mouse is back
its possible that Vaio Alps touchpad drivers are outdated.
The left button of my touchpad does not work anymore! If someone has encountered a problem like this and has come up with a solution it has stopped working permanently!
Forgot to mention that the laptop I have is a VAIO SR and that I have tried a few things already to see if it would solve the problem, but no luck. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, switched from right-handed to left-handed, uninstall and let windows choose the driver, etc...
There is another, even newer driver available from the E4300/E4200. Thanks to Logan_Nolag for posting that. It is even more responsive than the Studio driver.

The touchpad is now up there with the Synaptics from my old XPS m140.
-------------------------------------------
I tried it on my E6400, and it updated to the newer drivers without issue. I am definitely noticing a diffference in the touchpad.
New Touchpad Driver From Dell - For Studio 1536
I'm planning to do a mod on my latitude E6400, so if anyone with an M1330 would answer these questions, that would be great. I can't seem to find concrete info anywhere.
Are the touchpad in the 1330s all Synaptics, or a mix of Synaptics and Alps?
How big is the surface area of the touchpad (width x height) ....
I have recently purchased a dell inspiron 15. I have a small question. I can not figure out what I am hitting to cause this toi occur but seems to be touchpad related.
I keep shrinking the text on the screen! Silly but it is always when I am using the touchpad, not typing. I can not figure out how to undo!
We just got my gf's laptop from dell this week. I start it up and notice that something is wrong.
The touchpad icon in the taskbar shows that the right click on the touchpad is pressed, all the time. Everytime i move the mouse over the desktop, the right click menu comes up ....
my touchpad scrolling is not working. how can i go about getting it to work?
