I have a Compaq v6000 (same as HP Pavilion dv6000) running on MCP51, it has a TL-52 in it - a 90nm cpu. I have two questions first can I upgrade the cpu to a 65nm TL-60 or RM-70?
What difference in temperetures and performance could I expect?

my mom has a HP Pavillion dv6000 made for being mobile and having some gaming capability anyway she's had it for year and half well long story short its alwas been kinda slow and I ran some tests on it because I'm thinking about buying it from her and the processor AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 @ 1.90GHz is like locked at 803.9MHz won't go past it I ran OCCT for an hour and it never went over 803.9MHz and never went under 803.7Mhz any idea what the problem could be?. I know she didn't do anything to it, all she does is go on Facebook.com and play FarmTown >_>

Here's my questions:
What CPU's can this guy be upgraded to? It runs fine as is, (sins of a solar Empire at max settings 4x AA and not a hickup, Don't know frame rate, don't really care, as my eyes are things that matters)
I tried doing research into what processors it will accept, but I'm unclear and I haven't seen any posts.
If my Front Side Bus is 800mhz, is that restricted by the CPU itself or by some chipset on the Motherboard?
Also I've read that there some problems with the Sound Card drivers (IDT HD audio) and also that the Blu-Ray player wouldn't work on some of the same model numbers that were sold at Costco. I have not had a chance to test the blu-ray player, but my Audio driver has yet to consume 50% of the CPU usage, at anytime (knock on wood).
As you might have guessed I don't have a steady Internet connection, so I'm pretty much just cleaning out alot of the HP junk except for the stuff that has been integrated to deeply and I can just hide away, and so far it's worked pretty good. I have Adobe CS4 Master Edition installed and It runs all those programs wonderfully
This laptop has a t6600 processor that does not support virtualization. I have Windows 7 pro installed and I need to run some things in XP mode for work. Can I just upgrade to a p8700 processor? Will the BIOS have to be changed?

SO i put the old chip back in, but I have no idea what to do now, to get the new processor to work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was on ebay yesterday and noticed a bit of smoke coming from the side of my laptop; then it turned itself off. It's a 2 year old Compaq Presario V6000TX CTO Notebook PC (GQ362AV). There is no visible sign of damage anywhere on the exterior of the laptop or battery. I custom ordered my laptop direct from compaq and luckly I did not get the bad battery.
Bought an usb enclosure for the HD.. currently backing it up to my other external HD via my dad's computer..
From what I've read these heatsinks are notorious for causing a gap and overheating the chip..
I have a Presario V6000 and i love it, but just recently ive started to get vertical lines on my LCD. so far there are 4 groups, maybe 3-4 pixles wide that run the length of the monitor. I've priced out new monitors at around $100, but my concern is: is it the LCD going bad or is it the signal cable?

I purchaced in July 08 and no problems at all with it until Feb 09.
In Feb my sound stopped working from the internal speakers. I tried updating and reinstalling drivers for the sound (used correct drivers from Compaq website) and it still didn't work so I have just used the headphones in the past two months.
I am now in a situation where I need the internal speakers to work, so I have tried updating/reinstalling the drivers again and no go. After doing some more research I have tried doing a system restore to before the issue began in Feb and still no sound.
I then did a complete restore back to scratch so I had a fresh new OS and STILL no sound from internal speakers.
to replace my Compaq V6000 AMD motherboard to an Intel. i am one of the victims of Nvidia GPU failure and i need to replace my motherboard to Intel. The original motherboard part number is 443777-001. i am aware of replacing amd cpu and fan to an intel which i have it on hand. i check Hp support and there are several intel motherboard numbers available to get such as part number 434725-001 but not sure if its the right part.

for starters, her system is as follows:

MK-36 2ghz 512k L2 single coe
Geforce Go 6150 ( default vista drivers via win update )
I know she plays the new expansion with all the updates but don't ask me what that all is cause I treat WoW like the plague so Idk.
The problem she says she's having is lines or missing textures in certain areas. At first I thoguth it might be a lack of ram or bad ram as she had the orig 2x 512mb modules so I got her the 2gb kit and she said it made the machine faster but didn't fix the glitches.

I was looking through some of my spare parts the other day and I came across a Pentium M 2.13GHz processor I removed from an old laptop I had a while back. The only problem is it was just thrown in a drawer with some other laptop parts, where its sat for about a year.

I plan on ordering a Z590 as I fear the 690 will end up starting at a higher base price (ie like in Canada), and then upgrading it with a faster processor, more ram, etc. I just want to make sure I can do all of those things without issue.

The Bios shows that it can detect and appears to be able to use a dual core processor but none of the 9300's were ever sold that way.

I am looking to upgrade my Vostro 1500 from a T5270 to a T6400. Does anyone know if this processor is fully compatible with the Vostro? It does have a Socket P setting.

I just bought a inspiron 1545 and after buying it I have a little bit of buyers remorse concerning the processor. I opted for the Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 at 2.1Ghz, but now I think I would have been better off with a faster processor as I am planning on keeping this laptop for as long as possible.
The two processors within my budget that I am looking to upgrade to are:
P8700 (2.53Ghz) (currently an option for the inspiron 1545 configuration)
or
P8800 (2.66Ghz)
My question is whether or not the inspiron 1545 can handle these processors? I know that on the spec page for the inspiron 1545 it says that it can handle any core 2 duo. I just want to make sure that is true. I tried asking a dell tech person but he was unsure/didn't really know anything.
In addition, would I be able to upgrade to a P9700 if I wanted to?
I recently checked prices of laptop processors and found a 3.06ghz Pentium 4-M (socket 478, 533 fsb) for $55. This is the right socket, and I know the Inspiron 9300 can handle a 533 fsb, but is this processor going to work? I'm currently running the 1.6ghz at 533 fsb.
I know this processor was never an option for the 9300, hence the concern, but if it'll work for $55 why not? And, if it doesn't work, what is the highest I can move up to?
