My Dell inspiron 6400 has a battery that works amazingly but recently, I noticed a change in the behaviour. Anytime I switch the laptop on, the LED battery indicator shows me red meaning something is wrong even when the battery is fully charged. The battery charges normally even when I intentionally drain out the power and try charging it again. This is just to make sure that the battery charges fine. Infact, in windows, it shows me that the computer is on AC power even when it is not plugged into an AC outlet.
The BIOS shows "No battery installed" and windows tells me the same. Summarily, everything is fine except for the LED indicator showing Red and the BIOS telling me that no battery is installed.
Just a heads up to all the studio XPS owners. I opened up HWmonitor to check some temps and I noted the battery wear level and its 23%! I have only had the laptop since mid February and its degraded this bad very quickly. Needless to say I will be calling Dell and getting a replacement.
But I thought I would bring it to the attention of the community, because its been so helpful for me I try to give back.
I bought my Dell Inspiron 1545 about 6 days ago, I decided to install windows XP and drop vista in-order to save the battery life from vista hungry resources but
it didn't go very well i get about 2.15 hours max (with only firefox running and a LAN connection cable plus i shutdown wireless+bluetooth).
from the battery under windows XP, then i read about vista/windows 7 that they have better power management than the ancient XP so i installed the vista basic that came with the laptop but when i measure the battery's wear level which was too late i found out this:

recently I started having battery issues on my m1530. I have the 9 cell, and it always worked fine and gave me 3-4 hours of time. Now, though, it displays 3 hours, then drops slowly and accurately with time, until it gets to about 1 hr. At the 1 hr mark or so, it will instantly fall to 5% remaining (about 7 mins) and then turn off after that 7 minutes.
Also, I have been having issues with the charging as well, where it will get to "plugged in, not charging" and just sit at a certain %charge. I am away from home at a temp housing this month, so I don't know if it is just the outlets here, but sometimes it will charge all the way up and others it will just give me power and no charge.
My notebook is Ok, but today after one post here, I dedicated to check my Battery Wear Level.And What a suprise? 5% and my notebook is only on 3 days! Is this someting normal or?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI bought this laptop 5 months ago and I have been monitoring it slowly deteriorating by battery life, it is a 6 cell 4400mAh battery and I use it every day, and make sure not to let it drop below 10% battery power as to not do full discharges and only partial.
I was getting 1hr 50 mins when I first got the laptop which may have been max or min settings I cant remember but anyways which seems not as good as the advertised 2.5 hr battery but I can understand that advertised and actual may differ and max, min would have had an effect. Anyways now after 5 months (Purchased early december) I am only getting 58 mins on full charge at minimum settings, now this does seem quite ridiculous and NHC is reporting 49% wear level.
My question is, is this normal for a Li-Ion Acer battery after 5 months, it seems quite bad to me, and all I can think is the laptop was left on the shelf for a while before i bought it, or that it is defective. I rang acer warranty support and I feel quite fobbed off with them saying this is normal and usage patterns and that their warranty for batteries only last 6 months and I should expect only to get 1/4 of the full charge i did when i purchased after 6 months. So acer is in the business of making low quality batteries?
my Sony Vaio FE690 only lasts around 30 min on battery (I tried calibrating, still same life) but every utility that I try (Battery Eater, Notebook control, Everest, etc.) reports a wear level of 0% and a full charge capacity that is the same as the original capacity.
Can anyone confirm that the Sony battery firmware does not report the wear level? I'm wondering if it has something to do with my BIOS upgrade.
I have a dell xps m1710. the battery isnt working and vista shows it as no battery is detected. bios shows it not installed, my question is it safe to keep the bad battery in the computer and just use the ac adapter?

After I buy new computer Dell Vostro 5470 I found there is no option to set the highest level of battery charging when you are using computer most time with AC. Does Dell have program for managing this? For example I want have battery between 20-70% of capacity. I am inserting JPEG i got installed just this program for really easy settings...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought an HP Pavillion 15 laptop with AMD/Realtek HD audio hardware and Beats Audio. Windows 8.1operating system. It's brand new out of the box with no updates made.
When I playback mp3 music via Windows Media Player, the volume is getting boosted during quiet parts. This is especially noticeable on tracks which fade out, the sound level gets progressively higher as the song fades out, like it's trying to maintain a constant playback volume. This creates a lot of background noise on music recorded from vinyl, for example.
I've checked it isn't the recording, by transferring the same mp3 file to another device and playing it there - the song plays back exactly as recorded, no problem.
I can't find any options in the audio devices (or beats audio) which might control this behaviour. Is there an equaliser somewhere in the system?
p.s. it behaves the same even with Beats Audio disabled. p.p.s it behaves the same with internal speakers, headphones and external speakers.

i've just purchased a 2.0GHZ aluminum macbook recently and am having a small problem with it. The macbooks battery percentage indicator seems to be dropping a percentage point every couple of days even though i'm on mains power? The power adaptor LED is green idicating the computer is fully charged. I've calibrated the battery as apple recommended but its still doing it. The apple tech guy said that it is possibly a 'power board' problem rather than a battery fault and it will need changing. Has anybody else experienced this problem? Other than this small problem the macbook is fantastic, should have coverted over from a pc years ago

My R61's battery level is at 0%. I have the Blinking orange battery Light and it won't charge at all.

Also, I found that if I overcharge (leave it plugged in after fully-charged light comes on) then this problem disappears for that discharge cycle, but will return if I don't overcharge it for the next cycle. It seems to think it's fully charged too early when it's actually not!
Honestly, I'm hoping there is a way to fix this without having to replace the battery, since it's not removeable for this model so I would have to send it in for warranty replacement. This laptop is only about 6 months old.
My dell laptop model is INSPIRON 1464.
Recently, it can't power on. Assuming that it was a static-flea problem, having happened before, I did the "remove the battery & AC power, holding down the power button for 30 secs" solution countless of times. Yet, to my dismay, it still couldn't power on.
I did notice, however, that each time the battery and the ac power were in and the socket power on, the battery indicator and the ac power cord were both lit. With this, I am certain that the AC power cord is working, and probably the battery is as well. I have also tried directly relaying the ac power to the laptop without the battery attached but failed.
My not too-old XPS L502X will not turn on. The battery indicator still has a single light remaining when pressed. When I plug in the power adaptor (blue light on power adaptor is on at this point) the blue light goes off.
Have tried in multiple plugs, same thing happens.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a Pavilion g6-2334sa notebook pc, 9 mos old. Never tried to use DVD before. When inserted, DVD turns but doesn't automatically run. When searched for in myPC, it shows in the available drives, with the DVD highlighted. Tying Open, it goes as far as showing Audio_TS and Video_TS. Clicking on Video_TS shows files currently on the disk, in this case 69. If I click on any of these, it takes me to Video tools rather than running the file. So, unable to get beyond this stage to actually get the DVD to play. CD's work fine by the way.

Bought April 28, 2014.
Issue: I get a black screen permanently now. When connected to wall battery indicator is blue, I touch the power button, power indicator turns blue for 7 seconds then turns off. Nothing happens. Screen doesn't power, can't hear any fans, etc. Same issue when not connected to wall.
There was a BIOS update version 2.04 which fixed a problem "2. Revise system can't boot when "Exit Discarding Changes" was selected in BIOS menu." I believe that's my issue.
Is there any recovery method that can be done at home to get it out of this state?

Another user suggested sending in the laptop to have the EPROM replaced but never said why or if it fixed it.
Tried:
pinhole button to reset the system
removed battery, hard drive
looked for crimped wires in hinge going to screen
My p500 shows that it is at 40% and that it IS charging (most of the other stops states that it isn't charging). It could be that windows thinks the battery is charging, but it obviously isnt because when I pull the power plug, the laptop immediatley shuts off. Obviously the battery doesn't have a charge.
I got the latest version of the lenovo energy manager, but that didn't do anything. Also, I don't recall the enery manager being there. I am almost certain that it was not there prior to windows 8.1 upgrade.
Device Manager shows all of the hardware with no missing drivers/unknown hardware.
I have been running the battery conditioner which is suppose to run the battery down and then charge it back up. That has been going on for a few hours and it is still at 40%, where it has been stuck from the start.
Dell inspiron n5010 shows charging, but battery always empty, what is the reason behind this i put my laptop several time on charging but no solution.
