Dell XPS 15z :: Battery Not Giving Backup - Indicator Blinking Four Times Orange And One Time White
Jan 25, 2015I have a dell xps 15z laptop and I have replaced the battery because it was not giving any backup. Now i plugged new battery but the battery icon says"0% available, (plugged in, not charging)". Also an indicator is blinking (four times orange and one time white) below the laptop screen (the hinge where screen is attached to the base of laptop).

Jan 2, 2009Back in my Windows days and for my servers at work (just a few), I always did the following to do backup:
1) DATA
Use SyncToy or copy the data folders (My Documents, etc.) to an external hard drive
2) OS and APPLICATIONS
Create an image using Acronis's TrueImage, so I don't have to re-install the applications or re-configure the OS
With Time Machine, I know it backups my User folder (Documents, Music, etc.), but does it also backup the computer settings, such that in the case of re-install, I just pop-in the original OSX Installation CD and restore from Time Machine without reconfiguring the OS AND re-installing the application again?
I noticed in the Time Machine hard drive there is also an Applications folder that contains the list of the same applications as installed in my MBP.

It did 30GB in 2 & half hours! A little slow...
Why does it go soooo slow? Supposed to be faster in SL.... don't think so....
Went for Carbon Copy Cloner..... much better.... currently 27GB in 23 mins.... thats more like it.
That'll be my weekend moan out of the way I guess...

Oct 17, 2009Well after time capsule number 22 of 31 died today, I thought I may rant slightly about these so called server grade backups they " Just Work " for a few months to 2 years then seem to LOVE to pack it in taking entire backups and even causing me to transplant drive platters to recover business data.... small piece of advice go find a decent seagate or WD drive and use that, and sure looks like im not alone either as I will soon be entering 22 serial numbers in the dead Time capsule directory [url] next time apple wants a server grade backup try something with redundant power supplies and a SERVER grade drive, not some drive outta the discount bin

However, when I go to the time machine' options it says: Total included: 503.1gb

I don't want to lose any content or reformat, so I think time machine would be my best bet.

Dec 14, 2008My Dell inspiron 6400 has a battery that works amazingly but recently, I noticed a change in the behaviour. Anytime I switch the laptop on, the LED battery indicator shows me red meaning something is wrong even when the battery is fully charged. The battery charges normally even when I intentionally drain out the power and try charging it again. This is just to make sure that the battery charges fine. Infact, in windows, it shows me that the computer is on AC power even when it is not plugged into an AC outlet.
The BIOS shows "No battery installed" and windows tells me the same. Summarily, everything is fine except for the LED indicator showing Red and the BIOS telling me that no battery is installed.

Feb 18, 2014My p500 shows that it is at 40% and that it IS charging (most of the other stops states that it isn't charging). It could be that windows thinks the battery is charging, but it obviously isnt because when I pull the power plug, the laptop immediatley shuts off. Obviously the battery doesn't have a charge.
I got the latest version of the lenovo energy manager, but that didn't do anything. Also, I don't recall the enery manager being there. I am almost certain that it was not there prior to windows 8.1 upgrade.
Device Manager shows all of the hardware with no missing drivers/unknown hardware.
I have been running the battery conditioner which is suppose to run the battery down and then charge it back up. That has been going on for a few hours and it is still at 40%, where it has been stuck from the start.

On on Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423, I observe that the heating severe, it becomes severe within 15 min after boot-up. Is there any solution to reduce the heating of the deceive. Left side of the key board, in and around the power button and bottom side of the power button, near the fan outlet etc goes to high temperature.

On on Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423, I observe that the battery back-up is very very low, I think i get a back-up around 70-80 min. It very disappointing. Does Dell has any solutions to improve this?
Above two problems are really disappointing me and I think that these two issues are really major pros of Dell-5423. It really critical.

Does the factory default., only back up the files that were originally on the drive when I first bought it, regardless of what I install afterwards? and the Custom backsup everything? I noticed that Factory Default is 10GB, but the Custom is 29GB. This is confusing because I only install two small programs on top the Factory Default. WHat is the other 19GB?
