I just purchased a refurbished HP Pavilion. I cannot figure out how to turn off the auto brightness, which is an extremely irritating feature, which to me seems to have no purpose. I have turned it off under advanced power settings, nothing. I have looked in General PC settings but nothing(Windows 8.1) I have done all I can find to do.

I m having an HP pavilion G62016-TX with Windows7 ultimate with 64 bit version,Purchased on Nov'2012.
Recently my PC crashed and when it was reinstalled with all drivers from HP FTP i am having below problems.
When i am adjusting my brightness , it is getting adjusted but the adjusting bar usually shown in the screen is missing.
When i am adjusting my sound , it is getting adjusted but the adjusting bar usually shown in the screen is missing.
I have purchased HP Pavilion 15-n205TX with win 8.1 recently.
I have problem in adjusting the brightness of my screen. When i do it manually by pressing the keys f2 and f3, there is no change in the brightness of the sreen.
Even when i try to change it from Settings-Brightness, there is no change in the brightness
I can hardly see my laptop screen in daylight. All I can see is my own reflection.Is there a way to adjust brightness/contrast

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just recently purchased an HP 17-e049wm. This laptop has the AMD Radeon HD8650G integrated graphics with up to 4206MB of total memory. I understand that this graphics "card" uses the onboard memory to act as video memory. How can I increase or decrease the amount of memory allocated to the graphics? I don't seem to be able to make any changes from the BIOS. Is this something that adjusts automatically?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion 17 e049wm Notebook PC, model: E0J75UA.Long story short my laptop no longer gives me an option to connect to the internet through my wireless router. It only gives me the option to connect through an Ethernet cable. If I click on the networks icon it says No connections are available. If I go to the network and sharing center and try to set up a network, it will never detect my router. The wifi icon reminds orange, despite airplane mode being off. If I type wireless in the search bar in the start menu, one option is to change wifi settings. From there it only gives me the option to add VPN connection.(?)Another option is to change wireless device settings yet it doesn't detect any. I tried doing a system restore to a save point where the internet was working,'didn't work. I know it's not my router as all other devices, phones, tablets,ps3 and other computers are working just fine. I did try though resting the router.

I can controll the screen brightness with the [FN] + [UP] / [DOWN] keys, but I can't see if it's up 50%, 80%, 100% etc. Before the reinstall I could se this on the display via some sort of Dell-tool.
Which driver/tool should I install from Dell to be able to see the percentage again?
My lenovo G505 recently had to be reformated because there was a blue screen that came up one day that said there was problem with my PC and the error was critical_service_error, something like that. So my dad had to reinstall windows 8 for me using a cd he had that didn't come with the computer I don't believe. So now for some reason my screen brightness isn't adjusting and it's driving me crazy! It's staying on full brightness which I hate! I tried changing it from the personalization screen and nothing happens.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed the screen on my Yoga 2 pro tries to automatically adjust the brightness of the display depending on how dark or light the content being displayed is... I want to figure out a way to make it stop. For example, my desktop background is just plain black, and when i got to my desktop, it starts to dim by 4-5 levels lower, and then when I go back to my browser, it reverses and starts to turn up the brightness by 4-5 levels. I've already tinkered with all the power settings and even the advanced power settings to turn of auto dim/automatically adjust brightness etc and all those settings but it still does it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis auto brightness problem is been bothering me for a long time now, and i can't find any fix for it at all. The display goes:
- Bright when having on screen a white web page, document, picture
- and it display dims down when having on screen a dark web page/ document or picture
Note 1: I changed the settings and Turn off Auto Brightness in windows 8 advanced power plan settings .
Note 2: I tried to go disable the AMD Vari-Bright but the windows 8 AMD catalyse control center, but it doesn't have that option to turn in off .
Note 3: I did disable the Sensor Monitoring Service in services.msc menu .. but still didn't do the trick :/
Note 4: I did disabled Intel Display Power saving Technology in intel's graphic and media Control Panel and .. with all this, still, the auto brightness problem isn't solved :/
Now .. what to do, with all this attempts and still can't get rid of it, i start losing hope i can use my laptop without the screen changing brightness on its own, watching a movie and browsing the web with the screen flickers to adapter to the background....
I bought the Aspire R13 just 2 days ago, but the screen visualization doesn't automatically orientate when I rotate the display. I checked the auto rotation on the screen properties and it is on.
The auto rotation was the main reason to choose this new laptop....Could be the sensors do not work properly?
My T440p slightly adjusts the screen brightness depending on what is being displayed. For example, on Chrome, one page might have more images, so the screen slightly adjusts brighter or darker. Another page it might slightly adjust again. And it does it when scrolling down a page as well. It is distracting, and I want to disable it? I'm on windows 7.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was using my HP Pavilion g7 the other day, while gaming and the screen went black for no appairent reason. i haven't down loaded anything recently and i run virus software.
We went to the HP support web site and went through several diagnotics. When the laptop is rebooted the screen on the laptop will flash images of my desk top but once the machine boots up the screen remains blank. you can see the glow from around the edges but that is it. I have another monitor plugged in currently and the system is functioning propertly except for this. We have also done the following, hard reset,Test for memory modual problems, test the hard drive. I was also trying to update the video drivers but the system tells me the drivers are working properly.
I have an hp pavilion dv6. It was purchased at the end of 2010. My computer teens to get hot a little quicker than normal. It had overheated a couple times, but not recently.I recently went on a road trip and when I got back my computer screen won't turn on. While I was away, I took the bottom plastic screen off and put it back on (one of the sides had come loose and a tab was sticking out). I also tightened all the screws on the main cover on the bottom because some had come loose.When I got home and tried to turn my laptop on, the screen wouldn't turn on. I can hear the fan turn on. The light indicating the wifi was on, but showing that it was off- and it was on when I last used my computer. Also, the capslock light is blinking. I don't hear any sound from the speakers or anything like that. I tried hooking it up to a projector but never got a signal. I tried unplugging it and removing the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds but nothing changed when I tried turning it back on.

What ever I set, I'm working at my computer and screen always goes to sleep 1 minute after if I don't touch the keyboard.
What am I not getting. I need at least 5 minutes or so before it should go to sleep. My computer at the office only goes to sleep after I make it.
I have had my Hp dv7 notebook for a few months now and have had no problems. But all of a sudden, I turn on the computer and see nothng but a blank, black screen. I do not know if I changed the display settings or what, but I cannot see anything. I know the computer is functioning because the fan turns on and the keyboard lights work. When I connected my laptop to an external monitor, I was able to see that my computer was on and fully functional. In fact, I am using it right now on an external monitor to type this message.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy laptop screen backlight goes off, when I rest my hand on the left side of the touchpad. The darkening of the screen can be also reproduced when a small pressure is applied on the case just above the ethernet port or above the headphones port.
When the screen goes dark, I can see that everything is running normal, if I shine on it with a lamp or strong light. The resulting effect seems to be the same as if I would have lowered the brightness to minimum.
When I don't press the area described above, the screen is just fine. I am sure this problem is not software or OS related. I googled it a lot and my guess is lose connection on the inverter?
One last thing - idk if related - sometimes, when I boot up the laptop, the backlight is turned off and I have to adjust it by pressing F3.
I recently purchased an HP Pavillion X2 2in1 laptop and want to connect it to my TV. The laptop was recentluy upgraded to windows 8.1. When I connect using an HDMI cable, the TV recognises that the HDMI is connected, but the laptop screen will not transmit onto the tv screen. When I hit f4 to toggle the display, it says 'Your PC cannot project to another screen. Try reinstalling the driver or using another video card.'
When I go into control panel as recommended on other queries, the adjust resolution screen does not give me any other options than the Basic PnP display. It's like my laptop cannot detect my tv. It is not in my computer, devices or anything. I didn't attempt connecting it to my tv when it just had windows 8 on it ...
When friends send videos I cannot always watch them as the screen turns green. The sound continues to play but there are no visuals.
